I do not own anything except any OC characters that I choose to add into the story. Thank you.

VI.

Sarah's glare softened as Jareth finished speaking about one of her oldest friends from the Labyrinth as she realized that he did care for his subjects a lot more than he was letting on. "And Sir Didymus? And Ludo?" She asked, trying to keep her voice even.

Jareth's gaze was far away as he replied, "The fox has been a loyal knight in my service for longer than I care to remember, and last time I recall hearing about him, he had been traipsing about the fiery forest, on a gallant mission to keep those featherbrained rascals out of trouble and better in line."

Sarah laughed softly, "That does sound like him." She said, smiling at him.

Jareth returned her smile as he continued, "And as for the rockcaller, he usually follows the fox on his adventures, so I can only assume that is where he is. As I am a king, I hardly have time to myself, let alone to keep up with the wear-a-bouts of 3 of my subjects at all times. I apologize that I do not have more information." He said, his tone sincere.

Sarah nodded in understanding, "Thank you for telling me what you remember." She said, pausing for a moment, "Although, I have a question." Her tone taking on a more serious tone as she continued, "How did you end up here? Because it seems as though you have been here much longer than before they brought me to join you."

Jareth's expression went from a jovial and light to his brow furrowing in concentration and the smile left his lips. He took a deep breath and met her gaze, his eyes icy, "That is a very good question, Sarah. One I intend to find out. All I can recall is that I was in my study, pouring over some documents that needed my immediate attention, and then nothing. I can assure you, that quite powerful magic would have to be weaved in order to get through all of my defenses. Which means," He paused for a moment to muse over his thoughts before continuing, "That I have a traitor in my midst. And he or she must be dealt with accordingly. As soon we are free of our present predicament, of course." He finished.

Sarah watched as he placed his head on his folded hands, which Sarah noticed for the first time, were not gloved as she recalled during her run. "Powerful magic and a grudge against you for some reason, it seems?" Sarah offered, trying to keep her voice light.

"I have made many enemies in my lifetime, as that comes with the territory of having ones' own kingdom, but I have not noticed anyone behaving strangely as of late, so I am currently at a loss of who it might have been. I am quite sure there is more to the story than meets the eye." Jareth replied, catching the tone of her voice and giving Sarah a small smile in return.

Sarah returned his smile just as a black-haired man in robes similar to the first man who had visited them, materialized into the room.

His gaze roamed over Jareth, whose face had taken on a look of bored indifference again, and then he turned to let his gaze fall onto Sarah, his eyes darkening. "The Master sends his regards and wishes to offer a deal with you." He said, is voice hard. The man slowly made his way to stand in front of Sarah, who had tensed, but stayed sitting in her position on the floor.

Sarah's gaze flickered to Jareth's who caught her eyes and held them for a moment only, then looked back to the man standing in front of her. The man's gaze wandered over Sarah's frame almost languidly, making Sarah feel uncomfortable. "What happened to the other man?" She asked, trying to keep her voice even.

"He is…otherwise indisposed." The man replied, giving her a smile that made her skin crawl. "And although I don't know why he is bothering, but as it isn't my place to question, I have come in his stead." The man said, his words dripping with disgust. "The Master would like to offer you a place at his side in exchange for the life of the Goblin King. He says he will not kill him after Beltane has passed, but instead will let him go free." The man's expression remained unchanged as Sarah's expression soured. "Also, you will be forbidden from ever having contact with him ever again. If you agree to the terms, I will bring you to the Master's side immediately. Choose wisely, mortal." He said, every word bathed in repugnance.

Sarah sat for a moment longer, then proceeded to stand up, brushing her hands on her jeans, making the chains clink together. She held herself in manner that screamed defiance as her face held the same determined expression as when she defeated Jareth in the Escher room. Sarah stared the man in the eyes as she spoke, her voice cold. "I am not to be anyone's property or the like, and it seems as though this Master of yours is a ginormous coward if he won't come to offer deals himself. And as far as I can see, he is a colossal git for treating his prisoners this way." As she spoke, the man raised an eyebrow, but his expression remained unchained. "You can tell the Master, whoever the hell he is, that him and his offer can go straight to hell." She finished, glaring at him angrily.

The man stood in front of Sarah staring at her with his raised eyebrow for a few moments, then reacted. He slowly bent down, reached out and grabbed a fistful of Sarah's t-shirt and yanked her up towards him forcefully. The man then slammed her against the wall as he pressed his body against her.

Sarah's eye contact was broken when the man pressed his body against her and at the same time, a wrenching sound was heard from across the room. Her gaze flew towards the sound as she met Jareth's eyes.

He was standing as far as the chains would allow, his arms behind him in almost an unnatural angle. The chains were pulled taut, and the awful wrenching sound was heard again as the chains held fast to keep Jareth imprisoned. His body shook with rage as he watched helpless and could do nothing to help Sarah.
