Sure enough, Dazai's prediction had been right. The group blocking their exit this time around had a lot more people than the last one did. Sure on their run, Tachihara had reloaded his guns, but he wasn't sure if he had enough bullets to knock them all down in one go. It would be risky, but he didn't see any other options, especially after the last encounter. While preparing to jump out so he could start firing, a hand came down on his shoulder. Turning quickly, he saw Dazai giving him a bit of a look.
"What? We have to hurry before someone from that last group gets up and tells the boss." Tachihara huffed softly, unsure of why Dazai was stopping him at a time like this.
"I'm well aware of that, but there are quite a few out there… If you aren't careful, you'll end up shot and I can't carry both of you." Once again, Dazai was speaking in that more serious tone. He knew he couldn't leave Tachihara behind, especially after aiding him like this. Kouyou had warned him about what might end up happening if Mori found out about this. The odds of Tachihara's execution were very high, but there was a slim chance of just a punishment as well.
"I already know that. I'm fully prepared to get my ass shot, maybe even killed. I made my decision to help you get him out of here and I intend on seeing that decision all the way to the end. If it means getting Chuuya out of here safely, then I'm more than happy to possibly dig an early grave." Tachihara grinned widely, the wild look in his eyes had yet to fade. If anything, he looked more hyped up than before. However, despite that wild look, Dazai could see a hint of fear in his eyes, maybe even regret. He must have had Gin on his mind. He couldn't blame the other for that one.
"Listen, if one of your pistols runs out of bullets...throw it back to me and I'll throw you the one I keep on me. It would have to be timed perfectly, but it could ultimately save your life." Dazai removed his hand from Tachihara's shoulder, only to return it to the small form in his arms. Surprisingly Chuuya hadn't budged the entire time they had been moving, not even during the last shoot out. Tachihara had to squint a bit to make sure the smaller ginger was even still alive, which he luckily was.
"Alright...Just keep a close eye on me. I don't think I'll come out of this one unscathed, but I'll make sure it isn't a fatal wound. Now...let's get going." The ginger grinned widely, allowing a small chuckle to escape from him. He was positive that he was staring death in the face, but it was worth it.
'I'm sorry, Gin…'
She had been on his mind ever since he had decided to help Dazai with this situation. The possibility of losing contact with her, it pained him to think about it, but he knew she would understand why he went through with something so risky. Saying the two of them were close, that would be an understatement. For the longest time he and Hirotsu had thought she was a guy, but when it was revealed that she was Akutagawa's younger sister, it had been a surprise to all of them. She was a fierce girl, strong, fast, and outside of that assassin's outfit she wore, she was completely beautiful. His goal had been to always have her back but now, it seemed he was throwing that all away.
Without anymore hesitation, Tachihara made sure his guns were locked and loaded before bolting around the corner and opening fire on the group blocking the door. At first, they had seemed surprised to see that he was the one firing at them, but once the first couple went down, screaming in agony, the others opened fire on the ginger. Shots echoed through the hallways, followed by loud screams. From the corner, Dazai had been watching closely, but really he had been counting each time Tachihara had fired a shot, waiting for that last bullet to be fired so he could throw his own gun at the other.
Five…
Four…
Three…
Two more bullets to go...and so far, the ginger seemed to be remaining unharmed. Dazai didn't know how he had avoided every bullet that was shot at him. Either he was really good at dodging, or half of these grunts were just horrible at aiming, but either way, Dazai was sure Tachihara's luck would end up running out before this was over. It would probably happen during the exchange...but there was no backing out now.
Two…
One…
The gun in Tachihara's right hand was suddenly released, just as Dazai stepped out enough to give his own gun a toss right as the empty weapon clattered to the ground. Over his shoulder, Tachihara's eyes landed on the pistol that was being thrown at him perfectly. All he had to do was turn slightly so he could catch it, and he had to do it quickly or else his other one would run out of shots to fire. He had at least half of them on the ground, but it wasn't enough. They needed that doorway completely clear. Growling lowly, Tachihara finally made the move to turn, outstretching his right hand so he could grasp onto the weapon right as it was in rage, but before his hand could close around it, pain shot through his shoulder at the exact same time another shot was fired, hitting the gun that was coming toward him out of his reach.
The shoulder that had been injured, it had been his left one, the only one that was still holding a loaded weapon. Hissing in pain, the ginger brought his right hand back, pressing it against the spot he had been hit. This was bad. He was nearly out of bullets and his only other weapon was currently off to the side, a bit further behind him. He would probably have to make a run for it even though that was just as risky. Then again, when did he ever care about taking risks?
"Tachihara! Snap out of your thoughts and get your hands on that damn gun! You're better than all of them, now prove it!" A different voice...a female's voice...it couldn't be…
Just as Tachihara was about to click who it was, a familiar black dark colored cloak, the flash of long black hair caught his eyes. He only knew one person that dressed like that...and he hadn't even sensed her presence. Before he could even say her name, she was gone again with incredible speed. She must have been watching them from a distance, that was the only thing he could possibly think of. He suddenly shook his head. He couldn't let the distraction be a waste. The shots ceased for only a few moments, and that gave him the opening. Moving quickly, the ginger leapt backwards, sliding across the floor slightly until he stopped right beside the gun that had been shot away from him.
"Gin…" He grinned softly as he lifted the pistol in his hand. He really did owe her one for that. She had pretty much saved his life, and now he had exactly what he needed. That familiar grin formed on his face once again as he made his move. Yelling loudly, he rushed toward the grunts, firing without any kind of hesitation. She was right, he was better than any of these damn grunts, and deep down he knew it.
"I've got you now, you little punk!" One of the grunts had suddenly gotten on Tachihara's side where he happened to be wide open. It felt like it was happening in slow motion. Everything around him seemed to have slowed down as his eyes fell on the man dressed in all black. All around him, everything seemed to have gone silent, despite the fact that there were still gunshots echoing all around them. There was no way he would be able to dodge in time. If that shot hit him, it would be over for all of them. Clenching his jaw tightly, he started to pull one of his guns back so he could get it aimed at the man, just as he watched the grunt starting to pull the trigger. Closing his eyes tightly, Tachihara hoped for the best, but after a few minutes, he realized that nothing happened. He should have been shot by now, but there was nothing. Nothing except a loud scream.
His eyes suddenly flew open. The man who had nearly shot him was on the ground, clutching his arm in pain. The scent of blood filled the ginger's nose, and that's when he saw it. All along the man's arm, there was a large gash that had clearly been made with a blade of some kind. Blade…? That's when he registered that a figure was actually standing in between himself and the grunt on the ground. The very same figure that had given him the chance to get Dazai's gun. Damn, she knew how to move quickly and quietly, just like any trained assassin would. Not only that, but she had saved his ass twice.
"Finish this…" She spoke softly as she looked over her shoulder, glaring at him with those eyes that made him shudder. The eyes of an assassin that could easily turn into the most beautiful pair of gray colored eyes anyone's ever seen. Such a look was only ever seen when she was away from this place, but he had been fortunate to see it a couple of times.
"Yeah, I know. You don't gotta tell me twice." Tachihara gave the female a small little smile, only to see her nod back at him. "Watch my back for me?"
"You idiot…" She responded, but that was her way of saying she would. They always ended up watching out for each other, even during that mission that had nearly killed Chuuya. Once she had been injured, Tachihara had nearly lost it yet here she was, watching over him once again. He was beyond grateful for her, and glad to have her by his side during this mission.
"You're not wrong… I owe you one." Giving her one last grin, Tachihara then turned to the remaining men guarding the door. There weren't too many left now. This could be finished quickly as long as he didn't miss any shots. Taking in a breath, the ginger made his move, charging at the remaining grunts with a feral look in his eyes. Once again, shots echoed through the hallways, followed by more screams of pain. He felt bad for shooting all of them like this, but they were in his way and he needed them to move. To his surprise, Gin had moved at the same time he had, making sure to watch over all of his blind spots, almost as if they were in perfect sync. Neither of them possessed a supernatural ability like Hirotsu, so they had to make sure they were like this, and it proved handy even at a time like this.
Watching from his corner, Dazai couldn't help but grin softly. Those two, despite not being gifted, proved to be a very powerful duo. It was almost like watching the ungifted version of himself and Chuuya. He really was grateful that Gin had shown up when she did. It hadn't been expected, but it had definitely been a big help. He was sure Akutgawa would have a pretty big fit about his little sister helping someone escape, but he knew she wasn't scared of him. As far as he knew, nothing scared that girl. He remembered when she was a small child, just learning how to become an assassin, and now she was grown up, and one of the most feared ones in all of the Port Mafia.
"Well done, both of you." Dazai said as he came around the corner once all the grunts had finally been taken down. They were both pretty exhausted, and Tachihara's shoulder seemed to be in pretty rough shape, but at least they were both alive. "Gin, you showing up really surprised me."
"I knew she was coming...I felt her eyes on us when we were making our way down the halls. I didn't know if she was coming to help or if she was coming to stop us, but...it looks like it worked out in our favor." Tachihara spoke as if nothing was wrong, but Dazai could see the pained expression on his face.
"Well then, we should probably get moving...It's only a matter of time before more men come down here, and neither of you look like you're up for continuing to fight. Gin, you should probably come with us for now. You can both return here when you're at full strength if you want to but for now, let's get going."
Both Gin and Tachihara nodded their heads and together, they all made their way out the exit that had been guarded. It was pretty dark outside, which would make it perfect for moving around as long as they were all quiet. Their next destination: The Armed Detective Agency.
Bang! Sup? Chapter Seven is complete! Was anyone else surprised to see Gin show up to help out? She's such a precious, underrated bean! She deserves all the love. Anyways, they've managed to escape! Now it's time to see how those at the Armed Detective Agency will react when Dazai brings back so many members of the Port Mafia, two of which often stormed the office! XD Thank you so much for reading and I'll update again as soon as possible Have a great day/evening! Byyee!
