Blueeyeddevil06, thank you for being my beta!
Zuko was two days into the Peace Summit, and a part of him wanted to declare war again just so the summit would be over. He was exhausted. The world was a year from war, and the other tribes and kingdoms were trying to save face after one hundred years of the Fire Nation kicking their ass. He almost screamed out that he had ended the war and they should be grateful.
Just as he was about to lose it, Aang spoke up. Zuko was relieved everyone usually listened to him. The benefit of him being the only one from the Air Nomads left is that he's genuinely impartial. He didn't have a nationality of people to protect. Not that Zuko was trying to justify the sickening genocide of his people. It was just a fact.
Aang calmly said, "I think you forget what Zuko has done for peace. Not only that, but his father, Fire Lord Ozai, cast him out. He never took part in the war, and he even went against his father and helped me. I count him as one of my closest friends. In this room, we all agree that the devastation of war is horrible. You don't have to convince him of that. I was there when he saw what this war was doing to the individuals. I think it's time we move past our grievances and move forward and embrace peace."
The representative from Ba Sing Se grumbled, "But the Fire Nation is responsible for everything."
"And your continued recommendation of economic sanctions are getting old," Katara stated.
"And you're on Aang's side now? I thought you dumped him, Katara. Or did you realize your mistake?"
Zuko was livid, but Katara beat him to saying anything. "I was not aware that my relationship status was on the agenda for this meeting." She gave him a chilling look then made a show of glancing at that very agenda in front of her. "Hmm. It's not. I guess this is just another example of you wasting our time."
Katara then looked at Toph, "Why didn't you accept his position when they offered it to you?"
Toph smirked, "I would have had to wear a dress." Everyone chuckled about that.
Zuko then commented, "I hope we're all ready to move on to item seven in our agenda. It's regarding letting Ambassadors set up permanent residences in their host country."
He was relieved when everyone moved on and managed to stay on topic for the remainder of the meeting.
Now he sat in his office checking paperwork and slumped in his chair when Nozomu came in smiling.
"Please tell me you have good news. Like Toph using her earthbending to put that moron in his place." Zuko gave a small smile. "It's nice when she loses her temper with people when it isn't me."
"Sorry, if she has, I haven't been made aware." He chuckled, "We can only hope she has, though."
"What is it then?"
"Katara would like to meet you in the empty ballroom. She was hoping to practice bloodbending privately, away from prying eyes. I'm guessing you're not the only one who's frustrated after the session from earlier."
Zuko sat up a bit straighter. "She wants to spar?" He set his paperwork down then got up. "The rest of this can wait."
"I figured it could, Fire Lord. She's already on her way there."
Zuko met Katara in the ballroom and locked the doors behind him. He agreed with her that he didn't want anyone, and by anyone, he meant Aang, knowing what they were doing.
When he walked up to Katara, she was smiling at him. She said, "I was never so tempted to bloodbend as I was in that meeting. I just wanted him to shut up."
"That's the worst you wanted to do? Keep his lips closed? Making him slap himself in the mouth would have been much funnier."
She burst out laughing, "That's so true!"
"How are you doing after his inappropriate question?"
"It wasn't like I wasn't warned about it. Fumi was right. Other countries are taking it personally." She shrugged. "It will be over soon."
"You think they'll get over it that quickly?"
"Ha! No, I meant the summit would be over soon." She took a few steps back. "Attack me. I'm going to stop you."
Zuko charged at her and tackled her to the ground. "You're slow, Katara." He smiled at her as he had her pinned to the ground. He was lying on top of her. He had to shift a bit or she'd be able to tell how much he was enjoying the position. He couldn't make himself move off of her. She was so soft.
Katara looked up at him, and she felt a flutter in her chest that she tried to push away. She just broke up with Aang. She was emotionally vulnerable, and she didn't want to use Zuko. Well, she wanted to use him, but she knew she shouldn't. Part of her wondered how it would be to be kissed by him. If the fire in him would flare up and warm her too.
There was a time when she thought she'd date Zuko. Then Aang asked her out, and being around him was so easy. She thought they would just make sense. After all, there could have been more to their destiny when she helped find him.
In the moments where she was frank with herself, the dark part of her surfaced. Or that was how she labeled it. The dark part that saw Zuko when she kissed Aang. The part that treasured her birthday gift because it meant he was thinking about her.
She reminded herself she couldn't use him when she looked into his eyes and lost all the air in her lungs. He was looking at her like Daiki looked at Chie. Tears sprang to her eyes, and before he could ask what was wrong, she was kissing him.
His fire absolutely ignited her body. Her tears dried up, and her kiss deepened. When he opened his mouth to her, she thrust her tongue in and rubbed it against his. Her arms then wrapped around him as his hands went to her hair, and he pulled her impossibly closer.
She moaned into his kiss, and all she felt was white-hot bliss. Zuko began to pull away, but she nipped at his bottom lip and leaned up to kiss him again. He responded how she'd hoped. He kissed her passionately and held her in his arms. The weight of his body on top of her made every bit of her feel alive. She wanted this so much.
Zuko, for the first thirty seconds of their first kiss, was trying to analyze her every move and gesture. He quickly told himself to shut up and kiss her. When she nipped his lip, he almost lost his mind with passion. She was sexy and firey, and, damn, did he want her to be his. He felt his body pressed against her soft curves, and he grew even harder. She felt perfect.
Katara wasn't one to lay passive. She rolled him over and laid on top of him, and he was better able to wrap his arms around her. He fought to keep his hands off her ass. He managed to, but barely. She tugged on his hair and continued kissing him. Their bodies were locked in an embrace.
When they parted, Zuko tried not to look absolutely terrified. If she told him it was a mistake, he was going to lose his mind with grief.
"Zuko." She breathed out, panting for air, "I just broke up with Aang."
He closed his eyes, and his mouth made a hard line. "I can't hear it, Katara. You need to get off of me. I have things to do."
"No!" She kissed him chastely on the lips. "You really think we could kiss like that and not realize we have feelings for each other? You're so hard right now, Zuko." He blushed to his ears. She then rocked her core against his hard cock. "Let me finish. I just broke up with Aang, and I think it's better if we keep quiet about this for now. I think it would hurt him if he knew I was in your arms three days later."
He smirked up at her, "You're laying on top of me, Katara. It's more than just in my arms."
"You are holding me right now," she quipped. "But, you're right. I kinda think telling him would be worse, though." She kissed his scarred cheek. "Don't you?"
"I have to be a bearjackass and ask if you're sure it's absolutely over between you two. Is it?"
She nodded, "It's over between us. And, even if you weren't interested in me, that wouldn't have changed. Whatever happened to Mai?"
Zuko tried not to laugh in her face. He was way more than just interested in her. He'd let it go at that for now. "Mai, she was Azula's cohort. The council would have rebelled if I was with her. She would have given the wrong impression to the other countries. So, since I didn't have any feelings for her, it was easy to give them what they wanted and move her out of the palace. I pretended I was conceding to their wishes at the time." He chuckled. "It really wasn't."
"So what are we?"
"Whatever you'd let me be to you, Katara. I'd like to explore a relationship with you." He wrapped his arms around her tighter. He couldn't believe she was still lying on top of him having this conversation.
She laid her head on his shoulder and kissed his neck. "A relationship sounds nice. What will the citizens of the Fire Nation think when we go public with this?"
He couldn't help himself. He rolled them onto their sides, and one hand went to her ass. He then kissed her passionately. She had every intention of staying in a relationship and telling everyone about it. He was pleased and horny. He felt her pressed up against his hardness.
When he broke the kiss, he looked her in the eyes and said, "My Nation likes power, and you're powerful. You also just saved my life with your amazing bloodbending skills. They will adore you, and it won't be a problem."
She sighed and smiled at him. "This floor is really uncomfortable, yet I still don't want to move."
He pulled her up and said, "Follow me." He then led her to a hidden doorway. When it opened, he pulled her through it into the attached room. "The Ruling family meets here before the balls. It's so we have a place to wait and be comfortable."
She looked around, and it was a beautifully decorated room with several couches.
"Want to kiss on one of the couches?" Zuko asked her hopefully.
She smirked then went and laid on her back on a couch. "I liked this position."
Zuko had no arguments to that one at all. He laid on top of her and kissed her passionately. It was incredible, and he felt like they were made for each other. He felt her hands grab his ass, and he groaned in pleasure from her touch.
He then began kissing down her jawline, mumbling how much he liked it, how good it felt, and how perfect she was.
They continued to kiss and touch, and Zuko was trying to hold on to a shred of his sanity. He was half sure he'd lost his mind and was in an erotic dream. That had to be why he felt her breast pressed against him. Right? It was too good to be true.
Then she dug her nails into his ass and nipped his lower lip, and he knew it had to be real. There was no way he was creative enough to come up with that.
He pulled back, "Katara, you're so perfect. I can't believe you're here with me like this."
"I've never felt so free. There were times I had to keep my eyes open when I kissed because I knew if I closed them, I'd see you."
He couldn't respond to her. She fisted some of his hair, and she pulled him to her mouth and held him there. They continued kissing.
When they parted and each headed off to bed, Zuko looked at Katara in desperation, "Please don't change your mind about me."
She gave him a soft smile. "I won't, Zuko. I promise."
