Chapter 10
Tests
A couple days have passed since the hero killer has been apprehended. Class 1-A has completed their internships and is back in class. Shoto, Joshua, Ida, and Izuku stand around Shoto's desk. They are conversing until they hear Kaminari's voice.
"My internship was boring, but I know a few boys that had a very traumatic experience. The hero killer must have been a very dangerous opponent," said Kaminari.
"Yes, he was. He wouldn't go down even after being hit with our most powerful attacks, but we were able to beat him with the power of teamwork," said Shoto.
"Even though Stain is a killer, his motives are understandable. He's kind of cool," said Kaminari.
"He's a man of conviction so I understand why some people believe he is cool, but his convictions made him believe that a purge of all fake heroes was needed and that's just wrong. I will stop other people from becoming like him by correcting my course and walk the path of a true hero!" said Ida.
A smile grows on Joshua's face.
"Ingenium is proud of you Ida. No matter what choices you make, as long you continue to progress on your path to becoming a pro, he will be proud," thought Joshua.
A few hours pass. The class 1-A students are now in basic hero training.
"I am here to conduct your basic hero training! It has been a while kids so let's do something fun! We will do a rescue training race! The thing behind me is Field Gamma! This place is full of factories that wind together to create an intricate maze of alleyways! You will split into four teams of five! Each team will go in once at a time! I'll send a distress signal from somewhere inside! Starting from the border, each member of the team will race to the distress signal! Whoever gets to the distress signal first wins! Please keep damage to a minimum! Now, let's start with the first team! The first team will consist of Izuku Midoriya, Joshua Girai, Hanta Sero, Tenya Ida, and Mashirao Ojiro! Go and enter Field Gamma and prepare for the signal!" exclaimed All Might.
Team 1 enters Field Gamma. They spread out on the borders of the facility.
"Start!" exclaimed All Might.
"Now, it's time to show off my new power. Full Cowling: Fourteen Percent!" thought Joshua.
The racers start to use their quirks to race through the facility. Joshua and Izuku are the front runners. They both use Full Cowling to jump from pipe to pipe quicker than the other racers. They look at each other.
"Are you ready to lose once again Joshua?" asked Izuku.
"I won't let you win this time," said Joshua.
Joshua kicks it into high gear and activates his jet boots. He starts to rocket towards the distress signal.
"That's how you're going to play it huh. I will beat you with my own power," thought Izuku.
Izuku starts to jump from pipe to pipe even faster. A minute passes. Joshua and Izuku get closer and closer to the distress signal. Izuku starts to get closer and closer to Joshua's position. All Might sees his two students get closer to him.
"This will be very close. I won't be surprised if it's a tie," said All Might.
Izuku jumps off the final pipe. Joshua deactivates his jet boots and prepares to land on the platform that All Might is standing on. Izuku and Joshua land on the platform.
"Who won!" exclaimed Joshua and Izuku impatiently.
"I can't say because you guys are too fast. Let's just say it was a tie," said All Might.
"Damn. Another tie isn't good enough," thought Joshua.
"I was waiting to brag about beating him in another race, but this is good enough for me," thought Izuku.
The rest of the racers reach the platform.
"How could I lose? This environment is my specialty," said Sero.
"Don't be discouraged kids! Izuku and Joshua may have been the winners, but you'll have grown stronger and become pros at using your quirks! Keep up the good work as you prepare for the finals!" exclaimed All Might.
The other racers walk away. All Might walks past Izuku and Joshua and whispers to them so no one can hear him.
"You guys have gotten stronger. Meet me after class so we can talk about the secrets of One For All," whispered All Might.
Forty minutes pass. Joshua and Izuku enter the break room.
"Take a seat," said All Might.
Joshua and Izuku pick a stool and sit on them.
"You guys have been through a lot lately. I'm sorry that I haven't been able to help," said All Might.
"You don't have to apologize. You did nothing wrong," said Izuku.
"I'm curious about One For All," said Joshua.
"Ok. Let's get to the important stuff. I used to believe that One For All couldn't be stolen. I used to think that the One For All holder had to willingly give away One For All for someone else to use it, but someone was able to genetically alter the quirk so they could use it in their gear," said All Might.
All Might looks at Joshua. Joshua tries to look the other way to avoid the embarrassment.
"One For All is a unique quirk because it was derived from a quirk called All For One. All For One is a quirk that allows the user to take others' quirks and give people quirks. The first appearance of this quirk happened back in the day. When I say back in the day, I mean before quirks were normal and common. Back then, one man took the initiative to bring people together. He would steal others' quirks and give them to his henchmen and himself. He was responsible for committing many acts of evil. He soon became the underground king of Japan. He was truly a symbol of evil. This man had a little brother. His little brother was quirkless and fragile, but he had a strong sense of justice. Because he had this strong sense of justice, he opposed his big brother. One day, the man gave his little brother a power stocker quirk. We don't know if it was by force or an act of kindness, but the man didn't know that his brother had a quirk. His quirk was to give quirks to others. The power stocker quirk and the transferring quirk fused to become One For All. Justice always branches from evil," said All Might.
"Why are you telling us this?" asked Joshua.
"This man has the power of hundreds, maybe even thousands of quirks. You two can use the power that I used to defeat him. I defeated him, but I believe that he is the brains of the League of Villains. One day, you guys will have to defeat this monster," said All Might.
"We will be ready to destroy this symbol of evil. You don't have to worry," said Izuku.
"Thanks. Now, get out of here. You still have classes to attend," said All Might.
One day passes. Aizawa stands at his desk and looks through his notebook.
"Summer vacation is coming up, but it would be completely useless for you guys to get a month off and do absolutely nothing. So, you all will participate in a summer training camp in the woods. We'll be out in nature so your training activities will be different. However, if anyone fails the final exams, you will be put through a summer school of hell," said Aizawa.
"These finals will be a breeze. I'm ranked second in the class so I'm pretty sure I will barely break a sweat," said Joshua.
"Don't be overconfident. We still have to study," said Izuku.
"What do you mean by we? Bakugo may need to study, but not me," said Joshua.
Bakugo hears this and turns around.
"You nerds may have taken down the hero killer! You both may have beat me multiple times, but during the finals, I will show you both up! I interned with Endeavor so I will show you guys that I've surpassed you both! You nerds won't humiliate me again!" exclaimed Bakugo.
Bakugo gets up and storms out of the classroom.
"You know what, I'll study just to beat him again. For some reason, he still hasn't learned anything," said Joshua.
"Kacchan has always been stubborn," said Izuku.
"I'll make him lose his stubbornness," said Joshua.
A week of studying and training passes. Today is the day of the final exams. The written exam is way too easy for Joshua. He finishes in less than five minutes. One hour passes. Class 1-A is now in their costumes. Their teachers stand in front of them.
"Let's begin your practical exam. It is possible to fail this exam. If you want to attend the training camp, don't mess up. You guys probably believe that you know what this test will be about, but you guys are most likely wrong," said Aizawa.
Before Aizawa can finish explaining, Principal Nezu appears from the inside of his shirt. He jumps and lands on the ground.
"You won't be facing robots like in the entrance exam. You will be pairing up facing your teachers. You have faced real villains, so that's why we decided to revise the practical exam. Your matchups and pairings have been chosen by your teacher," said Principal Nezu.
"The first group will be Girai, Yaoyorozu, and me. The second group will be Midoriya, Bakugo, and All Might. The third group will be Principal Nezu, Ashido, and Kaminari. The fourth group will be Thirteen, Aoyama, and Uraraka. The fifth group will be Present Mic, Koda, and Jiro. The sixth group will be Ectoplasm, Asui, and Tokoyami. The seventh group will be Midnight, Todoroki, and Sero. The eighth group will be Snipe, Hagakure, and Shoji. The ninth group will be Cementoss, Sato, and Kirishima. The final group will be Power Roader, Ida, and Ojiro. You'll be bussed to a private testing location that your teachers have chosen. Good luck to you all. We may now depart," said Aizawa.
The buses pull up on the street behind them. The testing groups walk to their respective bus.
"So, are you guys ready to deal with my overwhelming power?" asked Aizawa.
"Your quirk gives you the ability to erase others' quirks. This will be easy," said Joshua.
"I didn't think that you were cocky," said Aizawa.
"He's not cocky. We've been training to surpass many pro heroes just like you. We have become so adept that we don't need our quirks to defeat you," said Momo.
"I'm proud that you are confident in your skills, but your overconfidence will be your undoing," said Aizawa.
"We'll see," said Joshua.
Twenty minutes pass. The bus stops in front of an area that is a replica of a regular neighborhood. The group hops off the bus. Aizawa walks in front of them.
"The rules are simple. You can go all out, but try not to kill me. I have a class to teach. There are two ways to win," said Aizawa.
Aizawa pulls out a pair of gold handcuffs.
"You can either arrest me with these handcuffs or you can escape. I advise you to try to escape. I won't let you capture me. If you don't apprehend me or escape in thirty minutes, you will fail. I'll give you guys a few minutes to start running. After those few minutes are over, the exam will start to get serious. The final exam begins now," said Aizawa.
Joshua and Momo run past Aizawa. They turn down the different roads.
"This will take too long. I'll fly up to see where we have to go," said Joshua.
"Ok," said Momo.
Joshua flies into the air. He starts to analyze the different paths to the gate.
"Momo, take a couple lefts and a right! After that, keep on going straight until you see a big house! Then, go take a right!" exclaimed Joshua.
"Ok!" exclaimed Momo.
Momo starts to run in the directions that Joshua told her to. Before she makes the right, Aizawa appears on the rooftop.
"Time's up," said Aizawa.
Aizawa hops off the rooftop. He tries to bind Momo with his scarf, but she slides under it. She sweep kicks him and Aizawa falls to the ground. Momo continues to run.
"You can't run forever," said Aizawa.
"She isn't running away in fear. She's running because your opponent is me," said Joshua.
Joshua stops flying. Aizawa activates his quirk and erases One For All.
"I'm glad that I had my eyedrops with me. Now, this is an even match," said Aizawa.
"I find it disrespectful that you see me as an equal. I will show you how dangerous I really am," said Joshua.
Aizawa charges at Joshua. He jumps up and tries to dragon kick him, but Joshua grabs his foot and throws him into a wooden fence. Aizawa uses his scarf to bind Joshua's gauntlet. Electricity sparks from Joshua's left gauntlet. He grabs the scarf and electrocutes Aizawa. Aizawa removes the binding scarf. Aizawa slowly gets up.
"Is this all you have Mr. Aizawa? I thought that the finals would be hard," said Joshua.
"Your cockiness will cause you to fail," said Aizawa.
Aizawa's binding scarf wraps around Joshua's stomach. Aizawa grabs his binding scarf and starts to spin around. Joshua is forced to start spinning. Aizawa spins for a full minute and launches Joshua into the air. Momo sees her friend flying in the air. She runs in the direction that Joshua was launched in. Joshua on a random road and creates a small crater. Momo runs up to him.
"Are you ok?" asked Momo.
"I'm fine. My suit took most of the damage," said Joshua.
Momo puts her hand out. Joshua grabs it.
"We have to get moving. We're way off course," said Joshua.
"This is as far as you go," said Aizawa.
The two classmates look up to see Aizawa standing on a rooftop.
"This time, you won't fight him alone," said Momo.
"Yeah. He can't beat us. We're an invincible duo," said Joshua.
Momo uses her quirk to create a bow staff.
"This will be fun," said Aizawa.
Aizawa jumps off the rooftop. Momo uses her bow staff to propel herself in the air like a pole vaulter. She kicks Aizawa in the face and Aizawa flies to the ground. Joshua activates Full Cowling and zooms behind Aizawa. Aizawa gets up and gets kicked in the head by Joshua. Momo creates a giant hammer. When Aizawa flies her way, she jumps and smashes the hammer on his back. The hammer strike causes Aizawa to be smashed into the ground. Aizawa's nearly unconscious body lies in a big crater. Joshua and Momo look inside the crater.
"Did we go too far?" asked Momo.
"Maybe, but he looks unconscious. Recovery girl should be able to heal him. Let's go," said Joshua.
Joshua puts his hand out. Momo grabs it and they fly off. They fly for a few minutes and find the exit gate. They land in front of it and run through it.
"The first people to pass their final exam are Momo Yaoyorozu and Joshua Girai!" announced Recovery Girl.
The two friends engage in a high five.
"I told you that he would be an easy opponent," said Joshua.
"I know, but I don't like to underestimate my opponents," said Momo.
"Hopefully he doesn't hate us after how bad we beat him," said Joshua.
"As long as we don't brag about how easy we beat him, he won't hate us too much," said Momo.
"Do you want to grab some ice cream after school to celebrate our victory over Mr. Aizawa?" asked Joshua.
"I think I would like that a lot, but first, let's take Mr. Aizawa to Recovery Girl," said Momo.
"Maybe Recovery Girl can "erase" his injuries," said Joshua.
"Never become a comedian," said Momo.
"Don't worry. I won't" said Joshua.
