Chapter 26
In the next day, Ash and Lillie bid farewell to their families as they are heading towards the Lush Jungle. During the last night, Ash evolves his Rattata after having a battle with Gladion.
When they finally arrive at the Lush Jungle, Mallow is already there as she says, "Thanks for stopping by! Welcome to Lush Jungle, the trial grounds for me, Mallow! I knew it the first time I saw you and your team... You've chosen only the finest ingredients! That's why I'm gonna make you help me—er, no! I mean, that's why you should try my trial!"
Lillie mutters, "You just said that we are going to help you..."
"You are the one who got a Sparkling Stone straight from Tapu Koko, aren't you?" Mallow turns to Ash, who nods and says, "I am, and what about it?"
"You're so totally ready for this! Ah, the breath of the jungle... I can tell just what today's special should be..." Mallow starts to think, and then she has an idea, "Yup! It's gotta be! My personal specialty: the Mallow Special! I'm gonna need you to find four ingredients for me! I'll need a Mago Berry, a Tiny Mushroom, a Revival Herb, and a Miracle Seed! Here you go! I brought you a Forage Bag to hold all the ingredients gathered for your trial."
As both Ash and Lillie get the bag, Ash asks, "Only one? What about the other one?"
Mallow says, "Do you think I will let you two alone finding different items? What's the fun since there are a cute couple in front of me."
Ash and Lillie blush again, and Mallow says, "Jokes aside, If you put the trial ingredients in your own bag, they'd get mixed up with your stuff, right? When you're hunting for ingredients, you're gonna want to rely on Stoutland's help. It'll find things that you don't see, after all. You remember what I told you at the farm, right? Just press the B Button to use Stoutland Search! OK, one more time! There are four things you need to get for me to clear your trial! A Mago Berry, a Tiny Mushroom, a Revival Herb, and a Miracle Seed! You got that? OK, then here in Lush Jungle... It's time for Mallow's trial to begin!"
Once the trial starts, Lillie mutters, "So what should we find first?"
"I can see some mushrooms over there." Ash says, "How about we pick the Tiny Mushroom for what Mallow needs?"
"Sure." Lillie says as she picks the small one, but the big mushroom turns out to be a Parasect. Lillie has Oricorio uses the Air Slash to defeat the Pokemon and leave the area.
"Hey, it's me, Mallow! Ooh, a Tiny Mushroom! That's great! There's a secret to why they're so popular with some people. You'll have to try one to find out what it is! Still three ingredients left to get! We still need a whole big helping!"
As she leaves, Ash says, "Well, that was unexpected."
"I agree." Lillie says as they continue to search the ingredients. As they get to the Northwestern Area, they found the Mago Berry which are being surrounded by sleeping Fomantis.
"This sure is hard, we have to get the berry before they wake up." Lillie says.
Ash has Dartrix to carefully get the seed, but the Pokemon falls asleep again and this causes the two of them to anime fall, and they accidentally wake up the Fomantis as they are attacking them. But thanks to Dartrix's Leafage, they are defeated and Ash manages to get the Mago Berry.
"That was hard to get..." Ash mutters.
"I know..." Lillie says. Mallow comes and says, "Hey, it's me, Mallow! Congrats on finding that Mago Berry! The bigger and more twisted a Mago Berry, the sweeter it will taste! Still two more ingredients left to get! Just a little more to find!"
The third place is in the northern area, as they see a lot of grass. "How are we going to find the Revival Herb here?" Lillie groans a little, but Pikachu uses its smell to locate a patch of rather suspicious-looking grass.
"That's it, nice work, Pikachu." Ash rubs the mouse's ears, causing it to squeal while Lillie picks the herb. "Hey, it's me, Mallow! That's a fine Revival Herb! Its bitter bite is even a shock to Pokémon, but that's what will add depth to the flavor! Just one last ingredient left! Get back out there and find it!"
They are now at the East Area and they use Tauros to break through some rocks, and then with the help of Stoutland, they manage to dig out the Miracle Seed. "So this seed is buried in the ground...how are we supposed to know about that?"
"Luck, I guess." Ash says. Mallow comes and says, "Hey, it's me, Mallow! That's a great Miracle Seed! Miracle Seeds are bursting with nutrition. They really are a miraculous gift from the jungle. Ooh, looks like you got everything! OK, it's time for us to start cooking, so come on back to the entrance of the jungle!"
Once Ash and Lillie are following Mallow back to the entrance of the jungle, Ash asks, "I wonder what are we going to cook with these..."
"I don't know. I hope it isn't bad..." Lillie says.
Mallow says, "Great! Now that we've got all the ingredients, we just need..."
"Sorry to keep you waiting." "How are you, Mallow?" Just then, they turn around and see Lana and Kiawe rushing towards them. "Lana?" "Kiawe?" Ash and Lillie exclaim in surprise.
"I've brought a Thick Club and a Rare Bone." Kiawe says.
"And I brought you some Fresh Water and the usual Rocky Helmet." Lana says.
"Thanks, Lana! Thanks, Kiawe! Now we've got everything we need! You're up next, Ash! Lillie! We're going to cook up a storm and lure out the Totem Pokémon of Lush Jungle!"
"Okay..." Ash and Lillie somehow have a bad feeling about this.
"Let me see what you've got for me... One Mago Berry, check! One Tiny Mushroom, check! One Revival Herb, check! One Miracle Seed, check! Perfect! Just what the recipe calls for. Now we can make the Mallow Special!"
As they set up the bowls and the cooking items, Mallow says, "The aroma of this tasty dish will draw that Totem Pokémon right to us! Ready to start cooking?"
Ash and Lillie nod as Mallow says, "OK! Lana! Flip that Rocky Helmet over, and let's pour that Fresh Water into it!"
Lana is doing what Mallow says as she does the instructions. "Here you are."
"hen in go the Mago Berry, the Tiny Mushroom, the Revival Herb, and the Miracle Seed... Kiawe, let us use the Thick Club and that Rare Bone for a minute!" Mallow says.
"Here you are." Kiawe gives Mallow the items, and Mallow gives them to Ash and Lillie, she says, "OK, Ash! Lillie! Grab the Thick Club and the Rare Bone and pound it all to a pulp!"
The two of them start to pound the ingredients, and then they crush them, grind it and then turn it to goo. Just then, a unique aroma begins to waft around the area.
"Somehow I feel something bad is happening all of a sudden..." Lillie says. Ash replies, "Like a piercing gaze from somewhere within the underbrush..."
They manage to see Kiawe, Lana and Mallow showing some scared faces as Ash and Lillie turn around. Much to their surprise, two giant Pokemon is standing in front of them.
"Rotom, what are those?" Ash asks.
"Lurantis, the Bloom Sickle Pokémon. A Grass type, and the evolved form of Fomantis. Lurantis use their flower-like appearance and aroma to lure in opponents and defeat them. Tsareena, the Fruit Pokémon. A Grass type. Because of its strong legs, Tsareena's kicking moves are powerful. It steps on defeated opponents to accentuate its wins. But they are bigger than normal!"
Mallow says, "And here it is, your trial begins."
Lillie sends out Paras and Snowy to battle the Tsareena. Paras uses Poison Powder to make it poisoned, but a Trop Kick sends it flying through the tree. Snowy uses Ice Beam, but Tsareena calls out Trumbeak and uses Pluck on Snowy. Then after some exchange attacks, Snowy uses Aurora Veil to protect both Pokemon and they both finishes off with X Scissor and Hex.
As for Ash, he uses Torracat and Salandit for this battle. Lurantis uses Sunny Day, which makes Solar Blade faster and hit both Pokemon, not only that, it calls out Castform and uses Water Gun on them.
"I guess we should knock out Castform first." Ash says as Salandit uses Poison Gas to poison Castform and Torracat finishes it with a Tackle and a Crunch. As for the Lurantis, Ash starts to dance.
"This is our full power, Inferno Overdrive!" Torracat fires a giant fireball and finishes Lurantis.
"Wow, Ash, Lillie, you're strong, huh! You were really able to draw out the flavor of your Pokémon in that battle! The Totem Pokémon bowed right down to you!" Mallow says.
"I know..." Lillie says as they try to help Lurantis and Tsareena get back up. Kiawe says, "Yes, even back at Wela Volcano Park my vaunted Salazzle and Marowak didn't stand a chance."
"Nor did the Wishiwashi and Araquanid that I had trained so carefully..." Lana adds.
"All right, you've cleared all three of Akala's trials! You even managed to get through my trial, and I'd say it's a real doozy! Here! A gift for such an inspiring young Trainer!"
Lurantis and Tsareena give the two of them the Grass Type Z Crystal, and they take them and yell, "We got the Grassium-Z!" The Pokemon also cheer for them.
"Let me show you how to use Grass-type Z-Moves! You go like "Graaassss," 'K?" Mallow shows off the dance moves as she is acting just like a flower that blooms.
"Since you've cleared my trial, Ash, Lillie, I want you to help me train some Pokémon from here in Lush Jungle. Here, have some Nest Balls!" Ash and Lillie received the balls and then they watch how the Lurantis and Tsareena eat the food that they make.
Once they leave, they notice that there are some leftovers of the food, and Mallow says, "Hm? Looks like Lurantis didn't finish all the food. Oooh, I really want you guys to try some! Have a bite, Kiawe! You, too, Lana!"
"If you insist." Kiawe says. "*lick*" Lana says as they all try some of the food, and Ash and Lillie can only stare at them as they know that something is not right with the food.
"The flavor from the Rare Bone seems to fill my whole mouth..." Lana says.
"It tastes so good you might melt... No, wait. Is that my tongue that's melting...?" Kiawe adds.
"It's...it's so..." "Uhhn!" Ash and Lillie can see their faces are turning red and smoke can come out from their heads.
"S-SPICY!" The two of them yell as they rush out of the jungle, and Lillie says, "Told you so."
"What? What's wrong with you guys? Don't you have any taste?! Are you headed off to Olivia's for the grand trial?!" Mallow yells as she chases after them, causing Ash and Lillie to clean the leftovers and sigh.
"Well, there they go." Ash says. But much to their surprise, Aurora, Lusamine and Professor Kukui also arrive and Kukui says, "Woo! What's that sweet smell I smell, driftin' my way?! Could it be a tasty Mallow Special?"
"I am not sure if it will be tasty..." Ash says.
"But with that, you have cleared Mallow's trial, right?" Lusamine asks, "Maybe you'll be able to remember some more of your memories."
"I don't know about that, Mother..." Lillie says.
"There'll be all kinds of discoveries and new experiences to make your adventure brighter!" Aurora says. "There's a facility that I want you to go check out on your island challenge."
Kukui says, "The Dimensional Research Lab! Let's get on over there with Extreme Speed!" Then they decide to head outside of the Lush Jungle so that they can talk for some more.
Here is a new chapter, and this wraps up the Grass Type Trial for Ash and Lillie I hope you like it and the next chapter will be more Pokemon capturing and the Dimensional Lab.
