("I'm the happiest I can be, Eddie and I have been talking almost every day on the phone, he performed at the Avalon and he was amazing, he sent me part of the show, I can't say it enough, I love his voice, I love everything about him! He's so sweet and always asks for my thoughts on his performances, he says we're good friends, and I'm ok with that! Guess what? Today is the big day, it's Prom, and it's going to be a huge hit. I asked Eddie if he would perform and he said yes, everyone knows him, no one had the nerve to ask, but, I asked. Mel's excited for my new job with Sally, she's taught me so much! Sally's a wonderful sweet lady, she gave me a beautiful dress for prom, I love the color, it's a beautiful color, light peach, it's strapless with a light jacket and the fabric flows perfectly onto my body, I love it! I've learned to apply my own make-up, I'm keeping it light and I'm able to fix my own hair, today I'll wear it wavy, not going to straighten it, my Dad says I look very beautiful. I'm doing great with the photoshoots, my pictures have been posted on several bill boards, a few local magazines, and I'm more confident with my choices in clothes, I've been modeling a variety of dresses, bohemian floral frill sleeves chiffon, and many maxi and short dresses, mini shorts with tank tops, a nice variety of clothing. I'm loving every minute of it, I don't know why I didn't listen to Mel sooner. We're ready for Prom, I can't wait to see Eddie, I hope I'll be able to hide how I feel about him when I see him on stage. Mel and I will meet Carlos and Ian at the Ritz Carlton.")
Mel walks in. "Are you ready Lo?"
Loren steps out of the bathroom. "What do you think?"
"I love it, it's perfect and you look very beautiful."
"Thanks Mel, I owe you so much, I can't say it enough, thanks for all of your help."
"I'm happy to help Lo, you're going to turn heads, and you're everyone's favorite senior, you got Eddie Duran to perform at prom."
"I don't know why no one would ask him, I can't wait to see him; this will be my first time watching him live."
"He'll be amazing, girl you're so excited!"
"I am Mel, he says we're friends, we talk all of the time and when he's away, we FaceTime."
"How are you hiding it from your dad?"
"I lock the door to my bedroom, I still don't know why he's so against Eddie and I talking."
"Your Dad means well, he's old fashion Lo, he doesn't want you to get hurt."
Lisa calls Mel. "It's time to go young ladies, your dates are waiting in the limo."
Loren looks at Mel. "I thought we were meeting them at the Ritz?"
Mel grabs her things and she and Loren rush out. They walk towards the front door. "I thought we were meeting you there?"
Ian smiles. "Well, we thought a limo ride to prom would be perfect."
Carlos smiles when he sees Loren. "You look beautiful."
"Thanks Carlos, and you look very handsome."
"Listen, I wanted to thank you, I passed all of my finals thanks to your help, you're an amazing tutor."
"I was happy to help." Loren says.
Both girls enter the limo followed by Ian and Carlos and they head towards the Ritz Carlton. When they arrive, they exit the limo and enter the beautiful ballroom decorated perfectly for their Prom, Loren looks around the stage area and smiles.
("There he is, our eyes meet and he smiles, he looks so handsome, he's wearing a black T-shirt, leather jacket and black jeans, and the way his hair falls to the side, I could sit here and watch him…")
"Loren, are you okay?" Carlos wonders.
"Oh sorry, I was admiring the room, it looks very beautiful."
"I saw that, funny thing your eyes were focused on Eddie and only Eddie."
"Well." Loren looks at him. "In my defense, I've never seen Eddie perform, this will be my first time and I'm excited."
"Let me find out where we're sitting." Carlos walks away.
Mel looks at Loren. "Girl, your eyes are betraying you."
"I can't help it Mel, look at him, I remember the first time I saw him, I was 5, he was 7, I couldn't stop looking at him."
"Well, he's looking this way and smiling, go and say hi."
Loren looks his way. "Great idea Mel."
Ian and Carlos signal the girls; their table is close to the stage. "We're very close to Eddie, it's going to be loud, are you girls okay with that?"
"I don't mind." Loren responds before Mel can say anything. Loren walks towards the stage area.
"Hi, I can't wait until you start playing."
Eddie kneels by the edge of the stage. "I hope I don't disappoint, and by the way, you look very beautiful girl."
"Thanks." Loren blushes. "I have to get back to my table."
Little by little the room is full of seniors, dinner is served while soft music plays in the background, after dinner all the girls head to the lady's room to touch up their make-up and lip gloss, by the time they're back, the Principle, Ms. Leon is on stage ready to start.
She smiles. "We're honored to have our favorite guy Eddie Duran perform tonight, let's welcome him, please enjoy the show, you may join everyone on the dance floor to dance, let's welcome Eddie Duran.
Eddie takes the mic and looks at his audience. "Congratulations seniors! I'll begin with my first hit."
He begins to sing, several couples hit the dance floor and they join in, jumping and clapping along with Eddie.
Carlos gets up. "Come on Loren, lets join in."
"I don't dance."
"Yes you do Lo, go and follow everyone else." Mel adds while pushing her towards the dance floor.
Ian stands up and looks at Mel. "Let's go! Let's get into the mix too."
("Everyone is having a great time, honestly I'd be the happiest just sitting on stage to watch Eddie, but, here I am on the dance floor moving around while Eddie jumps on stage and sings his heart away. Carlos is a great dancer, he's teaching me new moves while he turns me around, I turn and spot Chloe sitting staring at me, ugh, I wonder what her problem is?")
Eddie takes a break, and walks towards a beautiful brunette standing at the edge of the stage, Loren catches glimpse off her and tries to see who it is, and Carlos notices.
"Hey Loren, they're serving dessert that way, let's get some cake."
"Sure, I hope they have chocolate cake." They walk towards the cake table; Mel sees Loren. "Girl, you can really move on the dance floor."
"It was fun and easy." Loren adds.
"What's wrong?" Mel wonders.
"There's some girl talking to Eddie." Before Mel can respond, Chloe walks by. "You're not his type, he wants sophisticated ladies by his side, not someone like you."
"Shut up Chloe." Mel snaps back. "It's obvious you're not his type either because the latest I heard, he dumped you."
"Why do you always defend Loren? I am sure she's capable of talking?"
Loren walks away trying to eat some of the cake on her plate. She sighs.
("Who is she? I've never seen her before, she's standing pretty close to him, I thought for sure Eddie and I could dance tonight, ugh, breaks my heart, he may never see me that way, he says we're friends, but, I wish we had something more.")
Mel taps Loren's shoulder. "Girl, you're making it very obvious by starring that way."
"Who is she Mel? How long ago did he break up with Chloe?"
Mel holds her arm and slightly walks her away from the stage area. "Come on, let's sit here and talk."
Loren tries to make conversation with Mel, but, her mind is elsewhere, the music starts again, but, it's not Eddie, it's the school DJ playing a variety of songs.
Many students return to the dance floor, Ian asks Loren to dance and she accepts with a smile.
"There it is; I love it when you smile Loren."
"Thanks Ian." Loren blushes.
"I wonder if my mate is done for the night."
"He probably is; they're picking up the equipment." Loren adds.
"What's wrong?"
Loren looks at him. "Nothing, maybe I'm asking for too much, I was hoping to dance with Eddie, but, I get it, he's here to perform and.."
"And what?" Ian wonders.
"Nothing." She looks at him while biting her lower lip. "I have a crush on Eddie." She admits.
"Are you sure it's just a crush?"
"What do you mean?" Loren wonders.
Mel taps Ian's shoulder. "I know you're dancing with my bestie but, I want time with you before this Prom is over."
Loren smiles. "Of course."
Loren steps away and looks towards the stage area, there's no sign of Eddie, she walks closer and suddenly stops.
("Omg, he's kissing her, why do I feel like he's cheating on me? He's always said from the start we're friends, he's never led me on, but watching him hold her so close and kiss her like that makes me feel heart-broken.")
Chloe stands behind Loren and laughs. "Did you actually think you had a chance with him? Just because you're dressing a lot better doesn't mean he'll notice you, first of all you have no class, you're a fake Loren Tate."
"Why are you so mean? Why do you hate me so much? I've never done anything to you Chloe."
"I dislike people like you, just because you live in Eddie's house doesn't give you the right to expect anything from him, you and your father are servants in that house, remember that!"
Loren looks at her. "Well it's obvious you weren't his type either because he dumped you for her."
Chloe laughs. "Ha! I dumped him because I got myself a better guy with more money, that's all I've ever wanted and Eddie wasn't cutting it anymore for me." She walks away laughing.
Loren heads towards her table and Eddie calls out. "Hey Loren, wait up."
She stops, he's walking towards her while holding her hand. "I want you to meet Pippa Montgomery, she's going to hit the music world soon."
Loren smiles. "Hi Pippa, nice to meet you."
She smiles. "It's nice to meet Eddie's friend, I've heard so much about you Loren."
Ian and Mel approach them too and they're introduced to Eddie's latest girlfriend.
It's almost midnight…
Lisa and Gus walk into their home, and the butler walks towards them. "Mrs. Sanders, there's someone here to see you."
She gives him her jacket. "Really? Who is it?"
"Hi Lisa."
Lisa turns around and her eyes widen. "Nora! What are you doing here?"
"I'm back for good." Nora adds.
"You weren't supposed to come back."
Gus smiles. "Hey Nora, welcome." He side hugs her ad walks away.
Nora smiles at Gus and looks at Lisa once again. "Father isn't around anymore; I'm not going to stay away any longer." Nora adds.
Lisa walks towards her. "You'll only hurt if you're here."
"I want to be near her, how is she?"
"She's a beautiful young lady, you'd be very proud of her." Lisa hugs her.
The doors open and Mel and Loren walk in. "Hi Mom, we're back." Mel looks at Nora. "Hi Auntie Nora."
"Hi sweetheart." They hug.
Mel acknowledges Loren. "Lisa, Loren will be spending the night." Loren rolls her eyes, why is she calling her mom by her first name?
Lisa looks at Loren and back to Nora. "Sure, no problem."
"Aunt Nora, this is my best friend, Loren Tate."
Nora walks towards Loren, her heart is racing, but, she manages to extend her hand.
"Nice to meet you Loren." She says while holding back tears.
