Steve looked over at Wyatt. "Keep an eye on things here." Turning his attention to Bobby and Johnny he sized them up for injuries. Both seemed fine. "You two with us, Davis, we'll call you if we need help."
Wyatt watched them disappear down a darkened passageway. He glanced back at Warren and Doug, who were stepping over unconscious guards. Davis was checking out Amanda. The guy with the kinetic energy just seemed lost. He could deal with him later. He focused back on Warren and Doug and watched Warren's wings ruffle as if they were shivering. "You two ok?"
Warren shook his head. "This place gives me the creeps."
Wyatt shrugged. "Bad guys secret lairs are usually creepy."
Doug stood in front of one of the closed doors. "And behold...something something..the name...something something...followed." He frowned and reached out to brush some of the dirt off that was obscuring the letters. He thought it looked vaguely Latin but it was different enough that he thought it might be older. He was about to touch the inscription when a wing knocked his hand away. "Hey..."
"and behold, a pale horse. And the name who sat on it was Death, and Hades followed with him." Warren turned to look back at Wyatt, his wing brushing against the stone door.
Wyatt lunged forward as Warren's wings ruffled again. "Yeah, let's not touch the creepy doors." He pulled Doug and Warren back and looked back at kinetic guy. "What's your name?"
"Remy. Remy LeBeau."
"Ok Remy, what was your boss up to?" Wyatt crossed his arms and positioned himself between Warren and the doors.
"I don't know. There's something about these passageways that allowed him to control her and enhance our power." He could tell his answer didn't satisfy Wyatt. "He's a geneticist..that's how I got hooked up with him. I needed help controlling my powers."
Wyatt stared at Remy. "You should probably vet the people you get in bed with...". He turned to Doug. "Can you make out anything else in here?"
Doug squinted at the doors. "Maybe. The lettering is pretty worn." He reached out again to dust off one of the words only to get smacked again by a wing.
"Yeah, let's not actually touch anything. Read from afar."
Doug turned back to the doors. "Read from afar. Right."

Natasha pulled Sam back into the shadows. They had found what they thought could be the exit point. She could see the old wooden door being pushed open but instead of Windsor, an older man emerged. Natasha frowned but before she could say anything to Sam, Dr. Russell rushed past her in a flurry of fur and claws. Reacting on instinct she and Sam both followed.
As Dr. Russell pounced on the man, he morphed in front of their eyes. First back into Windsor, then a young boy, then into a man with a pale complexion that looked ageless. Slipping her gun out of the holster nestled against her back, Natasha waited for an opening. It took only seconds for Windsor to get the upper hand and rise above Dr. Russell. Natasha fired multiple shots hitting Windsor in the chest. He stumbled for a moment but straightened and stared in Natasha and Sam's direction.
"Crap. He's enhanced." Sam fired his own weapon at Windsor, slowing him down slightly. As he was getting the taser set, he saw a web attach to the branches above them and a blur of black flipping over Windsor, landing taser webs on Windsor bringing him down to his knees.
Peter landed in front of Natasha and waited for the repulsor blast he knew was coming. He glanced over his shoulder. "Enhanced? Any other powers?"
Natasha shook her head and put another clip in her gun. "Not yet."
Peter turned back to Windsor. Iron Man's repulsors had driven the man completely to the ground. He noticed the wolf like creature rising to its feet, watching Windsor. "Who's side is the wolf on?"
"Ours. It's Ned's doctor."
Peter watched the wolf pounce again and readied the taser webs. "Huh...I did not see that coming." It didn't take long for Windsor to throw Russell off again. Peter rushed Windsor, throwing two web grenades and flipping over both Windsor and Iron Man.
Tony waited for Peter to clear the target zone and fired again. This was not going to be an easy take down. All they could do at this point is wear him down and eventually get the upper hand. Natasha and Sam both fired their weapons, hitting Windsor. Before he could fire again, he heard the familiar whoosh of the shield.
Bucky and Steve emerged from the passageway at a run, both of them attacking Windsor, taking turns leveling punches and kicks. The vibranium in Bucky's arm absorbed an energy blast from Windsor. Pressing his palm against Windsor, he offloaded the energy back into Windsor, bringing him to the ground again. Peter flipped over and landed taser webs on Windsor. Triggering the charge, he flung additional webs, landing them on Windsor's wrists. Pulling, he dragged Windsor onto his back.
Windsor pushed up with surprising strength and created enough space from his attackers. Wiping blood from his lip, he sniffed the air. "Super Soldiers...I can almost smell the perfection in your genes." Putting his hands to his side, he levitated above the group. "You have no idea what's coming...your minds can't comprehend the destruction and devastation that will be wrecked upon this earth. Culling the herd now is what will allow us to survive. That...and pushing the Essex gene to its limits and perfection."
Before Windsor could utter another word, Johnny, fully flamed, flew above the others and directly into Windsor, surrounding him with flames and driving him to the ground. Bobby slid next Johnny and waited for enough space between the two before surrounding Windsor with ice. He continued to quickly layer ice until Windsor was fully encased. Pressing a hand on the ice coffin, he lowered the temperature even more. He looked up at the group. "I have no idea if this will hold so we need a more permanent solution."
"FRIDAY, scan Windsor." Tony walked over to Bobby and waited for FRIDAY's sensors to penetrate the ice.
"Target is in light stasis. Not completely cryogenically frozen but unconscious with all vitals depressed."
Tony slid back the mask and helmet and looked at Bobby, already cycling through his options. "How long can you hold it."
"Long enough for you to find some options."

Peter pulled open a file cabinet and pulled out a file. Turning towards the office door as he heard footsteps on the other side, he regretted taking the mask off until he detected Steve and Bucky's heartbeats. Turning back to the file he continued flipping through the file as the two entered the office.
"You know we're taking all of this back to the compound." Steve crossed the room and pulled another file out of the cabinet.
"Yeah, but dad's pissed enough that I'm probably banned from the compound." Peter kept flipping through the file. There was so much information in the office he wasn't even sure what he was looking for.
Bucky leaned against the desk and watched Peter and Steve peruse files. "Don't worry, I'll keep you in the loop."
Steve looked up and frowned. "You're not supposed to be encouraging him."
Bucky shrugged. "Its not like all of us haven't disobeyed an order or two." Pushing away from the desk, he looked over Steve's shoulder. "Find anything interesting?"
"Define interesting." Steve kept reading through the file in his hands. Ever since Davis and Bobby had portaled into the office and found the files on Project Rebirth he had wanted to know what else was in the files.
"Useful intel to figure out what the hell Windsor was talking about."
Peter frowned. "These files go back to the 1800's. There's genetic research, hand copied pages from some kind of crazy book, itemized lists of mutant powers, lists of experiments." Peter shut the file and dropped it into the box on the floor. "He's crazy."
"Probably. Definitely intelligent." Steve paused and flipped a page. "There's other super soldiers. Successful programs...going back decades." He looked over at Bucky and studied him for a moment. "You're not surprised."
Bucky took a deep breath. "They sent some after me...before."
Peter frowned. "What do you mean 'other successful programs'? I thought no one succeeded in getting it to work until me. I thought they all...kind of imploded like extremis."
Steve shut the file and crossed his arms, staring at Bucky. "Apparently not."
"The ones that came after me...they've suffered enough. They need to stay buried." Bucky shoved his hands into his pockets and met Steve's stare.
"Ok. I'm not sure what the big deal is. So there's super soldiers. We know Ross was able to create them." Peter looked between Bucky and Steve.
"It's not a big deal."
"Apparently it is." Peter looked between the two and settled on Steve. "Why is it a big deal?"
Steve shook his head and pushed the file against Peter's chest. "I guess it's not."
Bucky looked down at the ground as Steve walked past them and out of the office. Looking back up at Peter he gave him a half smile. "It's not a big deal." Looking at the box Peter had dropped the file into he reached down and picked it up. "What were you looking for?"
"I don't know. What Windsor was saying...and there's all those weird inscriptions in that room. I guess I just want to figure out what's coming." Peter tossed Steve's file in the box.
"I don't think we're going to find it today." He flipped through the pages in his hands. "Did you say something about a book?"
Peter nodded and reached over and flipped to the pages in the back and tapped on the handwritten notes. "Why?"
"I talked to Dr. Russell. She thought Windsor might have a book that talked about reversing whatever happened to her." He closed the file and tucked it under his arm. "We'll get someone to pack up the rest of this. Let's go see if your dad had any luck finding a way to keep Windsor contained without Bobby having to stay in ice form."
