Out in the vastness of space in the Distant Galaxy, Obi-Wan continues on with his investigation into the mystery of the missing planet, Kamino, flying in his Jedi Starfighter with his droid R4-P17, who was integrated onto the left-side of the ship.
Obi-Wan's starship was a Delta-7 Aethersprite-class light interceptor. It was a small, sleek starfighter with few internal systems than other starships, focused for making the controls responsive as possible due to the Jedi's Force-sensitive capabilities. It could only accommodate a single pilot and an integrated astromech droid hardwired into the ship's computer through the socket of the vessel's wing. Obi-Wan's starfighter was painted in hues of red and white, representing diplomatic immunity that the Jedi enjoyed.
Unlike most ships, the Jedi starfighter did not feature a built-in hyperdrive and instead relied on an external Syliure-31 hyperspace docking ring. This ring had two large hyperdrive engines mounted on opposite sides, which split across the middle with a socket connecting the fighter to the ring.
Following Master Yoda's advice, Obi-Wan heads for the coordinates in his navicomputer and came out of lightspeed 12 parsecs outside the Rishi Maze. Disconnecting from his docking ring, Obi-Wan flies straight ahead toward his destination: a large blue planet.
"There it is, R4, right where it should be. Our missing planet Kamino." Obi-Wan says
R4 whistles and beeps.
(Kamino)
Kamino was a remote aquatic planet outside the main galaxy with a global ocean that covered most of the surface. Heavy rain made up the climate of the planet with savage storms and powerful lightning bursts that could be seen vaguely through its relatively thick atmosphere. There were many cities scattered across the surface that were built on stilts and many were devoted to cloning.
Obi-Wan flies over to Tipoca City, the capital of Kamino and touches down on a landing platform. He steps out his starfighter and enters into the building, stepping in through the entrance as two glass doors slide apart, opening automatically on his approach. As he comes in and out of the rain, he is greeted by a female Kaminoan named Taun We, who comes down the hallway to his left, taking graceful, gliding walks toward him.
As a Kaminoan, Taun We was a tall, towering alien with pale, luminescent skin, long limbs, hands with three fingers, a long, thin neck, bulbous skulls, large, almond-shaped, glassy coated black eyes with white pupils, and small, hoof-like feet. As a female, she had a sylph-like figure and a bald head. Like the rest of her species, her nostrils were connected to her upper lip by a thin 'U'-shaped slit.
She wore a white armor that covered her chest and shoulders. Her arms, legs, and neck were covered in silver-blue fabric, and a long strips of white fabric with pale blue interior that hid her legs. Taun We was considered to be beautiful, and elegant for her race.
The Kaminoan was polite, gentle, and courteous as she welcomes Obi-Wan to the city.
"Master Jedi. The Prime Minister is expecting you." Taun We says
Obi-Wan surprised by what he heard. The system had been erased from the maps of the Galaxy and yet the Kaminoans were expecting his arrival? To him, this was very strange.
"I'm expected?" Obi-Wan asks
"Of course. He is anxious to you. After all these years, we were beginning to think you weren't coming. Now please. This way." Taun We says
Taun We led Obi-Wan through the white halls of the city and led him into a room where the Prime Minister, Lama Su, awaited them.
Lama Su was a male Kaminoan, who had a unique fin-like crest atop his head, and ridges behind his bulbous skull, which was a distinction from the opposite sex of the female Kaminoans.
He wore white armor that covered his chest and shoulders. A long collar protected his neck and the back of his head. His arms, legs, and torso were covered in black fabric, and he wore a purple belt with an orange buckle around his waist. White metallic cuffs shielded Lama Su's wrists, and long strips of black fabric with silver lining and red interior hid his legs from view.
"May I present Lama Su, Prime Minister of Kamino." Taun We says gesturing to Lama Su with her right-hand
Obi-Wan and Lama Su bow respectively to each other.
"And this is Master Jedi-" Taun We says
"Obi-Wan Kenobi."
"I trust you are going to enjoy your stay." Lama Su says
A round seat lowers down from the ceiling.
"Please." Lama Su says gesturing to the seat with his left-hand
Obi-Wan and Lama Su both have a seat and begin with their meeting.
"And now to business. You will be delighted to hear that we are on schedule. 200,000 units are ready with a million more well on the way." Lama Su says
The Jedi Master had not the slightest idea of what the prime minister was talking about, but decided it was best to play along.
"That's good news." Obi-Wan says
"Please tell your master, Sifo-Dyas that his order will be met on time." Lama Su says
Obi-Wan stares at Lama Su with a confused expression. Another Jedi was involved with the Kaminoans? From what he knew, Sifo-Dyas was a human Jedi Master like him, who was gifted with the power of foresight and had earned a seat on the Jedi Council prior to the Invasion of Naboo, but he died ten years ago in a shuttle crash over the Oba Diah moon in the Kessel System within the Outer Rim Territories. To hear the Prime Minister mention him was very strange and a bit surprising to say the least.
"I'm sorry. Master-" Obi-Wan asks
"Jedi Master Sifo-Dyas is still a leading member of the Jedi Council, is he not?" Lama Su asks
"Master Sifo-Dyas was killed almost ten years ago." Obi-Wan says
"Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that. But I'm sure he would've been proud of the army we built for him." Lama Su says
"The army?" Obi-Wan asks
"Yes. A clone army, and I must say, one of the finest we've ever created." Lama Su says
"Tell me, Prime Minister. When my master first contacted you about the army, did he say who it was for?" Obi-Wan asks
"Of course he did. This army is for the Republic. But you must be anxious to inspect the units for yourself?" Lama Su says
Obi-Wan looks over at Taun We, then glances back at Lama Su. He was in fact curious to learn more about this army.
"That's why I'm here." Obi-Wan says
The Jedi Master and the two Kaminoans rise up from their seats and leave the room as they go to inspect the Clone Army.
(Naboo)
On Naboo, Devon, Anakin and Padmé traveled to the Lake Country on a yellow Berenko-class gondola speeder and arrive at an isolated island estate called Varykino, disembarking from the water gate and the dock and climbed up a series of steep stairs that led to the main retreat. Paddy Accu, an elderly male human and caretaker of the secluded villa, helped unpack their bags from the boat while they stepped out of the aquatic vehicle.
Varykino was built in the Lake Country and sealed off from Naboo's waterways, protecting it from the sea monsters that dwelled deep beneath the surface. On one side of the villa was a set of stairs that led to a private beach. Across the waters of the lake was a smaller island that was home to a variety of birds. The building was made of yellow rock and had red roofs topped with copper-green domes. The rooms of the villa were linked by both wide marble hallways and outdoor gardens.
The trio walked up to one of the balconies that overlooked the lake. Padmé now wore a beautiful yellow dress, which faded to pink and light blue on the bottom.
"Wow. Nice view." Devon says
Devon walks ahead of Anakin and Padmé to the end of the balcony and leans against the smooth stone railing, gazing out at the sparkling water of the lake as it glittered with the light of the day and the islands that surrounded the villa.
"Out of all the planets in this world, I think Naboo takes the spot as number one." Devon says
"We used to come here for school retreat. We would swim to that island everyday. I love the water. We used to lie out on the sand and let the sun dry us. And try to guess the names of the birds singing." Padmé says
"I hate sand. It's course, rough, irritating, and it gets everywhere." Anakin says
Anakin looks toward Padmé.
"Not like here. Here, everything is soft and smooth." Anakin says
Anakin runs his right-hand along Padmé's left-arm, then slowly works his way up her back, feeling her smooth skin. The young Jedi soon found himself staring at the senator, gazing lovingly into Padmé's eyes, admiring her beauty. He couldn't deny it any longer. He was in love with her. Padmé kinda felt the same way for Anakin. She had to admit he did look very handsome.
Devon looked over at Anakin and Padmé on his left and he saw that the two of them staring at each other. Within moments, Anakin leans closer to Padmé and kisses her on the lips while she gasped and kisses him back. Devon stared in slight shock as he saw what was happening. Anakin was breaking the one rule in the Jedi Code: Never become romantically involved. He wanted to say something, but he couldn't. Although he was surprised by their behavior, he couldn't help but feel happy for them. Devon didn't really have to say anything as Padmé soon pulled away, realizing her mistake.
"No... I shouldn't have done that." Padmé says
"I'm sorry." Anakin says
Both Anakin and Padmé looked away from each other, instead gazing out at the lake. Devon remained silent, not saying a word to the young Jedi and senator about what he had just seen. Whatever happens next between Anakin and Padmé, it would be his little secret.
Suddenly, Devon heard a beeping sound coming from his right-pocket of his pants. It was his holocommunicator, receiving a call. Perhaps it was Ahsoka Tano, trying to contact him. Maybe she had found something on the bounty hunter. Stepping away from Anakin and Padmé, Devon reaches into his pocket and takes out the communicator. Holding it out in his right-hand, he answers the call and a hologram of Ahsoka appears.
"Hi, Ahsoka. Did you find anything in the archives?" Devon asks
"Yes. I did." Ahsoka says
"Lay it on me." Devon says
Ahsoka's hologram disappears and a full body hologram of Jango Fett appears, slowly spinning around and offering Devon a 360 degree view of him.
"The bounty hunter's name is Jango Fett. He's a Mandalorian." Ahsoka says
"Jango Fett? Mandalorian?" Devon asks
"According to the Jedi Archives, Mandalorians were a clan-based cultural group that were bound by a common culture, creed, and code. Their way of life revolved around battle with war as a source of honor and pride. Their warriors were very skilled in combat, one of the most feared in the galaxy. Their history dates back way before the Republic's existence." Ahsoka says
"They're that old? Makes you wonder if they ever encountered any Keyblade Wielders." Devon says
"I actually found some info on that too. It turns out that the Mandalorian clans had fought with Keyblade Wielders and Jedi in the past." Ahsoka says
"Fought with them, or against them?" Devon asks
"Well, mostly they fought for glory. Combat was practically their cornerstone. They're considered to be extremely tough, able to hold their own against Keyblade Wielders and Jedi." Ahsoka explains
Devon raised his right-eye brow upon hearing this.
"Really?" Devon says
"Yeah. According to their culture, Mandalorians always sought to fight greater opponents. And to them, fighting Keyblade Wielders was considered to be the highest source of honor and glory." Ahsoka explains
"I'm sure there must have been plenty of conflicts between Keyblade Wielders and the Mandalorians." Devon says
"They utilized a mix of melee, ranged, and hand-to-hand techniques while using their own technology to gain an upperhand." Ahsoka explains
"Like the saberdart Obi-Wan found on the assassin we interrogated." Devon says
Devon walks down a set of stairs and walks along the beach of the villa as he continued his conversation with Ahsoka.
"Any history on Jango's side?" Devon asks
"He was born on Mandalore, a planetary system located in the Outer Rim Territories and raised as a warrior in the clan. He's had scrapes with the Jedi Order back then and there was one report claiming that he killed six Jedi with nothing but his bare hands." Ahsoka explains
"Wow. He must be a very skilled Mandalorian warrior." Devon says amazed
"He was captured by the Order a while back and was delivered to the Governor of Galidraan. Jango was sold into slavery as a slave on a spice transport, but he managed to escape during a pirate attack." Ahsoka says
"That must be when he became a bounty hunter. Anything else?" Devon asks
Jango's hologram vanishes and Ahsoka reappears on the communicator.
"Recently, there was a report from the Coruscant police that Senator Connus Trell, a Twi'lek senator from Ryloth, was killed by Jango Fett, throwing him off his high rise apartment suite. He fought through dozens of security forces to get to him and he even shot down a CSF gunship." Ahsoka explains
Devon winced at the thought of the horrible death. He could hardly imagine having to fall thousands of feet from a high skyscraper building only to wind up a bloody pulp on the ground.
"Yeesh. Must've been a nasty fall." Devon says
"Yeah. His body was found in the lower level district." Ahsoka says
"But why would Jango go through so much trouble just to get to the senator?" Devon asks
"I looked into Senator Trell's background and I found some interesting pieces of information. Trell was a corrupt politician and he into some shady business." Ahsoka explains
"What kind of business?" Devon asks
"The police conducted an investigation after his death and they discovered that Senator Trell was part of a Death Stick operation." Ahsoka explains
"Death Sticks?" Devon asks
"In the criminal underworld, they're a type of hallucinogenic drug that causes euphoria in exchange for a twisted version of reality enhanced with bright colors. They were very potent and popular." Ahsoka explains
"Where did the shipment come from?" Devon asks
"The police did an investigation on that too and they traced the death sticks back to a nerf processing plant in the industrial district on Coruscant, owned by a gangster named Groff Haugg, who was a death stick trafficker. They seized everything on site and searched for Groff Haugg. Eventually, the police found him dead from carbonite flash-freezing." Ahsoka explains
"So Jango comes to Coruscant and hunts down Senator Trell because he's involved in a shipment of death sticks? It doesn't make any sense." Devon says
Devon thought to himself for a moment. Jango Fett was a very experienced bounty hunter. It wouldn't seem likely that he would waste his time hunting senators, unless there must've been a lot of money involved. Or maybe he was hunting for someone else.
"Wait... What if Jango was hunting someone else? Someone far more important than a senator? Ahsoka, see if you can find any more information on Jango Fett or any high-priced bounties he collected. The more we learn about him, the better it will be to figure all this out." Devon says
The female Togruta nods her head in the hologram.
"Right. You got it." Ahsoka says
The holocall ends as Ahsoka's hologram disappears and Devon puts it back in his pocket. He then turns to the lake and stares out at the waters and the surrounding islands, pondering over this newfound mystery surrounding Jango Fett.
(Kamino)
On the stormy planet of Kamino, Lama Su and Taun We gave Obi-Wan a tour of the Clone Military Complex of Tipoca City. Their first stop was the Egg Labs, where clone embryos were mass-produced in dozens of cloning tanks used to grow clones on Kamino. Obi-Wan looks around at the cloning tanks as he walks with the two Kaminoans through an observation tunnel.
"Very impressive." Obi-Wan says
"I'd hoped you would be pleased. Clones can think creatively. You will find that they are immensely superior to droids. We take great pride in our combat education and training programs. This group was created about five years ago." Lama Su says
The Jedi and two Kaminoans look down through the glass on their left and saw young clones sitting at terminals, wearing blue uniforms and red and cream colored Even-class training helmets.
These helmets were fitted with mental receptivity enhancers that helped process massive amounts of data the clones received daily. Broadcast signal receivers allowed Kaminoan overseers to transmit data directly into the helmets, which were synchronized to the wearer's biorhythm. Side-mounted earphones served to silence external sounds, providing an isolated audio environment in which the clones could concentrate on their learning.
"You mentioned growth acceleration?" Obi-Wan says
"Oh, yes, it's essential. Otherwise, a mature clone would take a lifetime to grow. Now we can do it in half the time." Lama Su says
"I see." Obi-Wan says
Next, Lama Su, Taun We, and Obi-Wan pass over a large mess hall where more clones sat together, eating food that were provided for them. These clones looked older and they wore red uniforms. Each of them had short black hair, brown eyes, and tan skin.
"They are totally obedient, taking any order without question. We modified their genetic structure to make them less independent from the original host." Lama Su says
"And who was the original host?" Obi-Wan asks
"A bounty hunter called Jango Fett." Lama Su says
"And where is this bounty hunter now?" Obi-Wan asks
"Oh, we keep him here." Lama Su says
The trio proceeded further into the facility, passing through over the central armory where the clones received their gear, putting on their armor and picking up their helmets from the rotating conveyor belt.
The body armor that the clone troopers wore were Phase I armor, crafted by the Kaminoan armorsmiths, consisting of twenty form-fitting plates of lightweight plastoid-alloy composite sealed to a black temperature control bodysuit via magnatomic gription panels. The bodysuit was also pressurized, offering temporary protection against the vacuum of space and extreme cold and heat. Their helmets had 'T'-shaped visors and a fin on the top.
"Apart from his pay, which is considerable, Fett demanded only one thing: an unaltered clone for himself. Curious, isn't it?" Lama Su says
"Unaltered?" Obi-Wan asks
"Pure genetic replication. No tampering with the structure to make it more docile and no growth acceleration." Lama Su says
"I should very much like to meet this Jango Fett." Obi-Wan says
"I would be happy to arrange it for you." Taun We says
For the final part of the tour, Lama Su, Taun We and Obi-Wan walked out onto a balcony in the facility where legions of clone troopers marched into assembly, moving together in perfect unison. Mostly all troopers wore white armor, except for a few who were different ranks above the rest. Color was used to distinguish clones trained for leadership roles, such as captains and commanders, from each other and the standard troopers.
Commanders were distinguished by four yellow circles on the left chest as well as stripe down the length of each arm, vertically up the middle of the helmet and laterally around the visor. These high-ranking officers led regiments of 2,304 troopers.
Captains were distinguished by four maroon circles on the left chest as well as stripe down the length of each arm, vertically up the middle of the helmet and laterally around the visor. They commanded companies of 144 troopers.
Lieutenants were distinguished four blue circles on the left chest as well as stripe down the length of each arm, vertically up the middle of the helmet and laterally around the visor. They were in charge of platoons consisting of thirty-six troopers.
And Sergeants were distinguished four pesto green circles on the left chest as well as stripe down the length of each arm, vertically up the middle of the helmet and laterally around the visor. They commanded squads of nine troopers.
Each of the clone troopers were equipped with DC-15A blaster rifles, which were large, heavy and very powerful weapons. They also had a smaller variant DC-15A blaster carbine, which had shorter range, but was still reliable.
"Magnificent, aren't they?" Lama Su says
Obi-Wan had to admit. He was impressed by the layout of the army. If the galaxy really be thrown into war, the Jedi would definitely need their help in restoring peace. But he still had to get to the bottom of this mystery. Hopefully he would find his answers in the bounty hunter, Jango Fett.
(Naboo)
On Naboo, Anakin and Padmé sat in a meadow of grass and wildflowers among the waterfalls and lakes in Lake Country. Also in the fields were Shaaks, which were plump quadrupedal herd animals native to the grasslands of Naboo. Padmé was now wearing a yellow dress as she sat next to Anakin. Devon was nearby, training with his Keyblade as he takes practice swings, slowly increasing his speed with each blow thrown.
"I don't know." Padmé says
"Sure you do. You just don't want to admit it." Anakin says
"Are you going to use one of your Jedi Mind Tricks on me?" Padmé asks
"They only work on the weak-minded." Anakin says
"Alright. I was 12. His name was Paulo. We were both in the Legislative Youth Program. He was a few years older than I. Very cute. Dark, curly hair. Dreamy eyes." Padmé says
"All right. I get the picture. Whatever happened?" Anakin says
"I went into public service; he went on to become an artist." Padmé says
"Maybe he was the smart one." Anakin says
"You don't really like politicians, do you?" Padmé asks
"I like two or three, but I'm not really sure about one of them." Anakin says
Anakin and Padmé both chuckle.
"I don't think the system works." Anakin says
"How would you have it work?" Padmé asks
"We need a system where the politicians sit down and discuss the problem, agree what's in the best interest of all the people, and then do it." Anakin says
"That's exactly what we do. The trouble is that people don't always agree." Padmé says
"Well, then they should be made to." Anakin says
"By whom? Who's gonna make them?" Padmé asks
"I don't know. Someone." Anakin says
"You?" Padmé asks
"Of course not me." Anakin says
"But someone." Padmé says
"Someone wise." Anakin says
"Sounds an awful lot like a dictatorship to me." Padmé says
"Well, if it works." Anakin says
Anakin and Padmé both stare at each other for a moment, but they slowly began to smile.
"You're making fun of me." Padmé says
"No, no. I'd be much too frightened to tease a senator." Anakin says smiling
Later on, Devon was petting a Shaak, stroking the left-side of it's large body with his right-hand as it grazed on some grass while Padmé ran across the meadows with herds of Shaak grazed around them. Anakin rode by on a Shaak, standing on it's plumped body like a surfboarder while it ran through the meadow. Devon and Padmé laughed as they watched Anakin ride the animal as it tried to knock him off.
Eventually, Anakin lost his balance and fell off the Shaak. The large animal trampled over the Jedi Padawan and trotted away. Devon and Padmé's faces turned to shock when they saw this. Anakin tried to push himself back up, but he fell back onto the grass. Padmé rushes over to Anakin to check up on him.
"Ani! Ani, Are you alright?" Padmé asks
Padmé rolls Anakin over and she saw that he was laughing. She herself started to laugh. Anakin grabs Padmé and they both rolled across the grass until the senator was on top of him. Devon let out a sigh of relief as he saw that Anakin was alright. The Jedi Padawan was very happy being with Padmé and they were enjoying themselves very much. He felt happy for them, but he still felt worried that Anakin's love toward Padmé would have a major impact in his life as a Jedi. So, he kept close watch over them.
(Kamino)
On Kamino, Taun We led Obi-Wan to a room where Jango Fett was staying and she rang the buzzer to his apartment. The door opens up and they were greeted by Jango's son, Boba Fett.
Boba Fett had an appearance very much similar to the younger clones, having curly brown hair and brown eyes.
"Boba, is your father here?" Taun We asks
"Yep." Boba says
"May we see him?" Taun We asks
"Sure." Boba says
Taun We and Obi-Wan stepped into the apartment while Boba calls for his father.
"Dad, Taun We's here." Boba calls
Obi-Wan and Taun We waited for Jango Fett in the room. Jango Fett soon stepped out of another room out of his armor, wearing a light blue uniform.
"Jango, welcome back. Was your trip productive?" Taun We says
"Fairly." Jango says
"This is Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi. He's come to check on our progress." Taun We says
"You're clones are very impressive. You must be very proud." Obi-Wan says
"I'm just a simple man trying to make my way in the Universe." Jango says
"Ever made your way as far as into the interior Coruscant?" Obi-Wan asks
"Once or twice." Jango says
"Recently?" Obi-Wan says
"Possibly." Jango says
"Then you must know Master Sifo-Dyas." Obi-Wan says
Jango remained silent for a moment before he stepped over to Boba, speaking to him in Huttese.
"Uh, Boba, rood eht so-heeck." Jango says in Huttese
Boba moves past Jango as he directs Obi-Wan's attention toward him, walking toward the large window in the apartment.
"Master who?" Jango asks
Boba steps over to the entrance of he room and closes the door on his right, which had Jango Fett's armor, weapons, and equipment inside.
"Sifo-Dyas. Is he not the Jedi who hired you for this job?" Obi-Wan asks
"Never heard of him." Jango says
"Really?" Obi-Wan asks
"I was recruited by a man called Tyranus on one of the moons of Bogden." Jango says
"Curious." Obi-Wan says
Obi-Wan stared at Jango with a look of suspicion. He had never heard the name Tyranus before. And as far as he knew, Bogden was a planetary system with immense gravitational tides that literally tore it apart with 20 moons orbiting the planet. Why in the galaxy would a bounty hunter like him be at such a strange place like that? The room was filled with silence until Jango spoke.
"Do you like your army?" Jango asks
"I look forward to seeing them in action." Obi-Wan says
"They'll do their job well. I'll guarantee that." Jango says
"Thank you for your time, Jango." Obi-Wan says
"Always a pleasure to meet a Jedi." Jango says
Obi-Wan and Taun We soon leave the room. Jango held a troubled expression on his face. The Jedi was close to learning of his involvement in the assassination attempts on Senator Amidala. If the pieces were put together, his son's future as a bounty hunter, his legacy would be in danger. They would have no choice but to leave Kamino. Boba looked up at his father, noticing the seriousness in his eyes.
"What is it, Dad?" Boba asks
"Pack your things. We're leaving." Jango says
(Naboo)
On Naboo, Anakin and Padmé were eating at a table in the villa inside a room called the Morning Room of Mists, a rotunda dining area in Varykino. Devon stood at a nearby window, staring out at the gorgeous sunset while taking some bites out of a yellow-green starfruit in his right-hand as he listened to their conversation. Devon actually enjoyed the taste of the fruit. It was compared to a mix of apple, pear, grape, and citrus.
"And when I got to them, we went into 'Aggressive Negotiations.'" Anakin says
"'Aggressive Negotiations'? What's that?" Padmé asks
"Uh, well, negotiations with a lightsaber." Anakin says
"Oh." Padmé says
Anakin and Padmé both laugh. As they sat at their table, Anakin lifts his right-hand up and levitates a Shuura fruit into the air from Padmé's plate over to his side of the table using the Force. Shuura was an exotic yellow and cream colored fruit that had a juicy, sweet taste.
"If Master Obi-Wan caught me doing this, he'd be very grumpy." Anakin says
"Oh, he'd probably scold you for it." Devon says smiling while looking back over his left-shoulder
Anakin takes the fruit and cuts a piece off for Padmé. He then uses the Force to lift the slice up and send it over to Padmé, who catches it with her fork.
Later that night, Anakin and Padmé sat together on a red sofa in a room near a fireplace. They sat in silence until Anakin spoke up, telling Padmé of his deep love for her.
"From the moment I met you, all those years ago, not a day has gone by when I haven't thought of you. And now that I'm with you again, I'm in agony. The closer I get to you, the worse it gets. The thought of not being with you, I can't breathe. I'm haunted by the kiss that you should never have given me. My heart is beating, hoping that that kiss will not become a scar. You are in my very soul, tormenting me. What can I do? I will do anything you ask." Anakin says
Padmé stares at Anakin with a stunned, silent expression on her face. She then looks away, feeling ashamed, which Anakin noticed.
"If you are suffering as much as I am, please, tell me." Anakin says
"I can't. We can't. It's... just not possible." Padmé says
"Anything is possible, Padmé. Listen to me." Anakin says
"No, you listen. We live in a real world. Come back to it. You're starting to become a Jedi, I-I'm a senator. If you follow your thoughts through to conclusion, it'll take us to a place that we cannot go, regardless of the way we feel about each other." Padmé says
"Then you do feel something." Anakin says
"I will not let you give up your future for me." Padmé says
"You are asking me to be rational. That is something I know I cannot do. Believe me, I wish that I could just wish my feelings away, but I can't." Anakin says
"I will not give in to this." Padmé says
"Well, you know, it wouldn't have to be that way. We could keep it a secret." Anakin says
"We'd be living a lie. One we couldn't keep, even if we wanted to. I couldn't do that. Could you do it, Anakin? Could you live like that?" Padmé asks
"No. You're right. It would destroy us." Anakin says
Unknown to them, Devon had been listening to their whole conversation from outside the hallway. Now, he was very worried for them. Keeping their love a secret from the Jedi Council would not be very easy, but the Keyblade Wielder promised himself that he would do whatever he could to help them.
(Kamino)
Back on Kamino, having learned so much about Jango Fett and the clone army, Obi-Wan felt that he'd best inform the council. He walks back to the landing platform where his starship waited for him outside while being escorted by Taun We, who followed behind him.
"Tell your council that the first battalions are ready. And remind them, if they need more troops, it will take time to grow them." Taun We says
"I won't forget, and thank you." Obi-Wan says
"Thank you." Taun We says
Obi-Wan puts his hood over his head and steps out into the rain while Taun We walks off into the facility to tend to her duties. The Jedi Master walks over to his starship and speaks to his droid.
"R4!" Obi-Wan says
R4 beeps, answering his master.
"Scramble code five to Coruscant, care of the old folks' home!" Obi-Wan says
A small satellite dish emerges from a compartment on the starship only a few inches up and began relaying a transmission back to Coruscant.
(Coruscant)
At the Jedi Temple, Master Yoda and Mace Windu both sat cross-legged on two meditation pads in Windu's private chamber in the High Council Tower as they awaited the report from Obi-Wan.
The chamber was bare and hexagon styled in a rusty-red hue. It was empty save for a few meditation pads and a sleep couch. Pillars ringed the chamber's frames with shaded windows offering views of the cityscape of Coruscant.
Obi-Wan appeared on a hologram from a small, slim holoprojector in the center of the room, giving the two Jedi Masters his report on the investigation.
"I have successfully made contact with the prime minister of Kamino. They are using a bounty hunter named Jango Fett to create a clone army. I have a strong feeling this bounty hunter is the assassin we've been looking for." Obi-Wan says
"Do you think these cloners are involved in the plot to assassinate Senator Amidala?" Windu asks
"No, Master. There appears to be no motive." Obi-Wan says
"Do not assume anything, Obi-Wan. Clear your mind must be, if you are to discover the real villains behind this plot." Yoda says
"Yes, Master. They say Master Sifo-Dyas placed an order for a clone army at the request of the senate almost ten years ago." Obi-Wan says
Yoda and Windu shared concerned glances with each other.
"I was under the impression he was killed before that. Did the council ever authorize the creation of a clone army?" Obi-Wan says
"No. Whoever placed that order did not have the authorization of the Jedi Council." Windu says
"Bring him here. Question him we will." Yoda says
"Yes, Master. I will report back once I have him." Obi-Wan says
Having said that, Obi-Wan's hologram fades away
"Blind we are if this creation of this clone army we could not see." Yoda says
Windu lets out a deep sigh.
"I think it is time we informed the senate that our ability to use the Force has been diminished." Windu says
"Only the Dark Lord of the Sith and the Dark Lord of the Shadows knows of our weakness. If informed the senate is, multiply our adversaries will." Yoda says
(Naboo)
On Naboo, Devon stood outside on a balcony at Varykino, gazing up at the stars in the night sky.
After hearing Anakin and Padmé's conversation, he thought about his own relationship with Luna, his female Night Fury. Could it really work between them? They were both two very different species. She was a dragon, he was a human. The two of them were best friends and they deeply cared for each other, but could their relationship extend beyond that? Was there any possibility for them to become soul mates?
The Keyblade Wielder was soon snapped out of his thoughts when he heard the beeping sound of his communicator. More than likely it was Ahsoka, calling him with more information about Jango Fett. And perhaps there was some news about Obi-Wan's investigation. Devon takes out his communicator and answered the holocall as Ahsoka's hologram appears.
"Devon, I got some news." Ahsoka says
"More info on Jango Fett?" Devon asks
"That and more. Obi-Wan just contacted the Jedi Council. He says he found Jango Fett on a planet called Kamino, a system that had been erased from the archives." Ahsoka says
"How could a planet be erased from the archives? Isn't that impossible with the security in the temple?" Devon asks
"I asked Master Yoda and he said only a Jedi could have erased the files." Ahsoka says
"A Jedi? You mean there might be a traitor?" Devon asks
"I guess." Ahsoka says
Devon felt disturbed by this revelation. The Jedi Order had a traitor in it's midst. But who would have the guts to turn their back on their order and why? And Kamino, a planet he never heard of before. He was curious to know more about it.
"This missing planet, Kamino. Did you hear anything about it from Obi-Wan's report?" Devon says
"It's inhabited by Kaminoans, tall aliens who are cloners." Ahsoka explains
"Cloners?" Devon says
"And there's more. They're using Jango Fett to create a clone army for the Republic." Ahsoka says
Devon was surprised when he heard this. A clone army for the Republic? Jango Fett, a bounty hunter, being used to create an army of clones? This mystery was getting deeper by the minute.
"A clone army?! What the heck?! Where'd this come from? This the first I've heard of it." Devon asks
"The Jedi Council was surprised by this as well." Ahsoka says
"But who arranged this?" Devon asks
"According to Obi-Wan, he said a Jedi Master named Sifo-Dyas placed the order for the clone army ten years ago." Ahsoka says
Again, Devon was caught by surprise. The name Sifo-Dyas was new to him. But if he was a Jedi Master, how could he be involved in this?
"Sifo-Dyas? A Jedi Master? Who's he?" Devon asks
"He was once a member of the Jedi Council, but he was soon banished because his ideas were judged to be too extreme." Ahsoka explains
"How so?" Devon asks
"I asked Master Plo Koon and he said Master Sifo-Dyas kept raving on about a war that would ravage the galaxy. The council rejected his notions and because of that he was removed from the council." Ahsoka explains
"So what happened to him?" Devon asks
"Obi-Wan said that he died ten years ago in a shuttle crash on Oba Diah." Ahsoka says
"Before or after he ordered the clone army?" Devon asks
"Supposedly, according to Obi-Wan, he had died before that." Ahsoka says
"I guess we now know why the planet was erased from the archives. Someone is overseeing this operation using Sifo-Dyas' name as a cover-up and using Jango Fett as a host. Whoever's behind this is went through a lot of trouble to keep all of this hidden. They wanted hide whatever it was they were doing on Kamino. But there's one thing I still don't get. How does Jango Fett come into all this? Why use him to make these clones? And why for the Republic?" Devon says
"Well, I did some more digging and I found something interesting. He's collected a lot of bounties, but there's one that's at the top of the list: Komari Vosa." Ahsoka says
"Komari Vosa?" Devon says confused with the name
"She was once a Jedi Padawan, but she soon betrayed the order and turned to the dark side, becoming a Dark Jedi. Vosa had a bounty placed on her for five million Republic credits." Ahsoka explains
"Five million?! Wow. That could make someone for life. How'd she end up with that kind of price on her head?" Devon says surprised
"The bounty was posted by a man simply called Tyranus. Apparently, Komari Vosa was not only a Dark Jedi, she was also the leader of the Bando Gora." Ahsoka explains
"The Bando Gora? What's that?" Devon asks
"It was a mysterious cult and a dangerous criminal syndicate made up of grave robbers and skilled, ruthless assassins. They were everywhere and nowhere at the same time. They produced potent strains of death sticks, which they shipped out to any uncivilized world in the galaxy. They ruled through fear and their attacks crippled the galaxy's most powerful industries. People were afraid to even talk about them. They say you could get killed mentioning them. Anyone sent their way either turns up dead or gets turned into mindless slaves. They're never seen or heard from again." Ahsoka explains
"They were that dangerous? Man. Didn't the Jedi Order try to stop them?" Devon asks
"The Republic sent a Jedi strike force to stop them on Baltizaar, but they were unprepared to face the power of the Bando Gora. The mission was a disaster. They were overwhelmed and many Jedi died, but they managed to drive the cult off planet." Ahsoka explains
Devon shuddered at the thought of encountering the Bando Gora. A cult of deadly assassins, brainwashing victims into mindless slaves. Worshippers of the dark side of the Force, of death and darkness. Then, he froze in shock as a terrifying thought crossed his mind. What if the Dark Lord of the Shadows had gained an alliance with the Bando Gora? If they were as deadly as Ahsoka claimed them to be, then there's no doubt that Teridax would recruit them into his evil empire. After all, he was an ancient, powerful being of death and darkness, which was exactly what the Bando Gora worshipped. He would be a perfect leader for them and they would be great agents of fear and terror, though not as great as his right-hand: Lord Thanatos, but still just as terrifying.
As he processed everything he had heard, Devon remembered something that Ahsoka mentioned in their earlier conversation. The shipment of death sticks that was organized by Groff Haugg and Senator Trell.
"Wait... Death sticks..." Devon says
Then, the realization hit Devon. Jango Fett must've been investigating the source of the death sticks that the Bando Gora produced as a means of hunting down Komari Vosa. Groff Haugg and Senator Trell must've had connections to the Bando Gora.
"Of course! Jango Fett went to Senator Trell because he was involved with death sticks. He must've been on the hunt for Komari Vosa and he was following the trail of death sticks to get to her. Since she's on his list of claimed bounties, we'd have to assume that he must've gotten to her. That's probably when Tyranus hired him to be cloned on Kamino." Devon says
"The pay must've been good for a bounty hunter like Jango Fett to accept his offer." Ahsoka says
"But just who is this Tyranus? And why would he create an a clone army for the Republic? None of this makes any sense. I'm not sure I like this." Devon asks
"Well, Obi-Wan's going to try and apprehend Jango Fett and bring him back for questioning." Ahsoka says
"Let's hope Obi-Wan can take him on. We need to get to the bottom of this. There's something else going on here." Devon says
Devon hangs up the call and puts away his communicator, slipping it back into his pocket. He didn't know what to make of all of this. Everything that had been discovered just recently had proven to be quite disturbing. A traitor in the Jedi Order. A deadly cult of assassins. And a clone army kept hidden in secret. This was all so much to process. But there were still some questions that were left unanswered. What happened to the Bando Gora? Was Komari Vosa dead or alive? Who was the traitor in the Jedi Order? And was this clone army truly made to help aid the Jedi and the Republic? There was so many mysteries that piled up on each other Devon had a hard time keeping track of them. He could only hope that Obi-Wan's mission on Kamino to apprehend Jango Fett would turn up some answers.
Later that night, Anakin was asleep having nightmares about his mother, Shmi. His mother's voice echoed in his mind, crying for help while he tossed and turned.
"Help me!"
"No. No." Anakin says
"Anakin! Help me!"
"Mom, no." Anakin says
"Anakin!"
"No!" Anakin says
Anakin immediately opened his eyes and sat upright in his bed breathing heavily.
Anakin was not the only one having a nightmare. In another bedroom, Devon was asleep, tossing and turning in his bed as he groaned, grunted, and panted heavily while suffering from a horrible nightmare of his own. It was about his mother, Shara, and the night that she died. The same night that his homeworld, The Celestial Realm, was invaded by the Forces of Darkness.
"Mom... Mom!" Devon says
In his nightmare, Devon watched the devastation of his homeworld through the eyes of his five year-old self while his mother, Shara carried him in her arms as they fled for the safety of their home.
Then, in a flash of light, he found himself inside his house with Shara holding him close to her. Devon looks up at her and she looks down at him, both sharing fearful expressions. Then, they heard a loud bang at the front door, which immediately drew their gaze. The door was soon blasted open, revealing Lord Thanatos and Lord Drazor. Again, Devon's vision was blinded by a flash of light as his nightmare progressed.
Now, Devon saw his mother's shadow as she was being beaten up by Lord Drazor as he held Shara by her throat, punching her repeatedly again and again. Eventually, she was dropped onto the floor, falling on her back in agonizing pain. Devon stares at his mother as she groaned. She soon turns to him with a terrified expression.
The Dark Keyblade, Fear's Shadow comes into view over Shara's limp body and Devon's vision zooms in on it as it was held over her with the blade pointed downwards. Slowly, it rose up in preparation to finish the Keyblade Master. Within moments, the Dark Keyblade fell, killing Devon's mother as she let out a terrified scream and ending his nightmare right there.
"No! Mom!" Devon cries out
Devon immediately opened his eyes and bolted upright in his bed, breathing heavily and sweating. Devon and Anakin both had a sleepless night.
The next morning, Anakin stood out on the balcony looking out toward the lake in meditation, thinking about his mother. Padmé saw him and was about to walk away.
"Don't go." Anakin says
"I don't want to disturb you." Padmé says
"Your presence is soothing." Anakin says
"You had another nightmare last night." Padmé says
"Jedi don't have nightmares." Anakin says
"I heard you." Padmé says
Anakin remained silent for a moment, but he soon turned to face Padmé.
"I saw my mother. She is suffering, Padmé. I saw her as clearly as I see you now." Anakin says
The Jedi Padawan takes a few steps forward, letting out a deep sigh before speaking again.
"She is in pain. I know I'm disobeying my mandate to protect you, senator, but I have to go. I have to help her." Anakin says
"I'll go with you." Padmé says
"I'm sorry. I don't have a choice." Anakin says
"It wasn't just you who had nightmares, Anakin." A voice says
Anakin and Padmé turned around and they saw Devon walking toward them.
"Devon?" Padmé says
"I had one as well. They were of my mother." Devon says
"Your mother?" Anakin says
"It was the night that my homeworld was destroyed. The night she died. I don't know why I'm having these nightmares, but I know one thing: I won't let Shmi Skywalker suffer the way my mother suffered. If you're going to Tatooine, then I'll go with you." Devon says
Anakin stared at Devon for a moment, but he soon nodded his head in accepting the Keyblade Wielder's aid.
(Kamino)
Jango Fett and his son Boba Fett were loading their cargo onto their ship, Slave I as they prepared for their departure from the planet.
The Slave I was a modified prototype Firespray-31-class patrol and attack craft that was used by Jango Fett and his son. It was a well-armed ship with weaponry that included two heavy twin blaster cannons, as well as two rapid firing laser cannons. Rounding out the ship's armament were two projectile launchers, each holding a magazine of three homing missiles or various other payloads, and a naval minelayer equipped with seismic charges. Jango acquired this ship from the asteroid prison of Oovoo IV during his hunt for Komari Vosa, one of six that had been manufactured for the prison. Now, it was the only one in existence after he destroyed the rest.
As they had just finished loading their cargo, Obi-Wan ran out onto the landing platform to confront them.
"Dad! Look!" Boba says
"Boba, get onboard!" Jango says
Obi-Wan takes out his lightsaber and ignites it as he moves to engage the bounty hunter. Jango draws his two blaster pistols and opens fire at Obi-Wan while taking off into the air with his jetpack to keep his distance. Jango hides himself on top of a lighting fixture, then launches a missile from his jetpack at Obi-Wan, blasting him back with a good-sized explosion and causing him to lose his lightsaber in the process.
Inside Slave I's cockpit, Boba activated the starship's heavy twin blaster cannons and opened fire on the Jedi Master. The shots hit nearby, and Obi-Wan was thrown backwards by the explosive bolts across the platform. Jango emerged from the fixture and flew towards Obi-Wan, but the Jedi jumped up and kicked him down onto the landing platform with his right-foot, causing him to lose both his blasters.
The two began to engage in hand-to-hand combat. The bounty hunter tried to grab onto the Jedi, but Obi-Wan kicks him back at his helmet with his left-foot. Upon regaining their feet, Jango and Obi-Wan stood up and grabbed each other. The bounty hunter headbutts Obi-Wan with his helmet, causing him to fall back onto the platform. Obi-Wan noticed his lightsaber near the edge of the platform and tried to call it back into his hand using the Force, but Jango flew up on his jetpack and fired his whipcord launcher from his right-gauntlet to prevent the Jedi from regaining his weapon. The cord wraps around Obi-Wan's outstretched hand and yanked him away from his lightsaber, dragging him across the platform. Eventually, the Jedi tangled the whipcord around a lighting fixture, causing the bounty hunter to crash onto the platform. His jetpack flew off his back, flew into a fixture, and exploded. Standing up, Jango grabbed onto one of his fallen blasters and fires a shot at Obi-Wan, who was running toward him. Obi-Wan jumps in dodging the blaster bolt and kicks Jango off the platform, but soon realized that he was still connected to the whipcord around his hands.
"Oh, not good." Obi-Wan says
Obi-Wan flipped onto the side of the platform and slid down towards Jango, who activated a series of vibroblades on his right-arm and digs them into the platform to slow his fall. Obi-Wan slid past Jango and falls off over the edge of the platform, dangling by the whipcord. Jango's grappling tools were beginning to fail due to the added weight and he was slowly getting pulled down toward the edge. Reaching for his right-gauntlet, Jango presses the release button for the whipcord, causing Obi-wan to fall down towards the ocean. Obi-Wan fights against the cord and manages to free his hands. He quickly throws the cord and it attaches onto a structure below the platform, stopping his fall.
Jango looked over to make sure he had finished off the Jedi and didn't see him anywhere. Believing he had ridden himself of the pesky Jedi, the bounty hunter began to crawl back to the top of the platform. Several levels down below, Obi-Wan flipped onto a metal walkway with a backward somersault and re-entered the city to catch up to Jango.
The bounty hunter soon reached the top of the platform and began boarding the Slave I as his son activated the controls to take off. Around that time, Obi-Wan arrives back at the platform and quickly recovered his lightsaber. He saw that the Slave I was now lifting off as rotated 90 degrees to maneuver vertically. Obi-Wan takes out a homing beacon and threw it onto the side of the starship's hull just before it took off into the planet's atmosphere and heading out into space.
The Jedi Master deactivated his lightsaber as he watched the bounty hunter and his son fly off in their ship. Wherever they were going, he would be able to follow them to their destination.
Author's Note: Here's a good chapter. Obi-Wan finally discovers the missing planet Kamino. There, he discovers that a clone army for the Republic is under production. And to create this clone army, a bounty hunter, Jango Fett is used as a host. Obi-Wan meets him and his son, Boba Fett, then reports back to Master Yoda and Mace Windu about what he had learned. Meanwhile, Devon tries to solve a mystery of his own about Jango Fett and his story with Ahsoka's help. An interesting mention is the hunt for Komari Vosa and the Bando Gora, which is the storyline for Star Wars: Bounty Hunter. I've played the game several times before and it's pretty fun. Anyways, Anakin begins having nightmares about his mother, Shmi while Devon was also having nightmares about his mother, Shara. Having experienced this, they decide to fly to Tatooine to help Shmi. On Kamino, Obi-Wan engages Jango Fett to try and subdue him, but he manages to escape. Where is Jango Fett going and what will happen on Tatooine? Let me know what you guys think. No flames please. Hope you guys like and don't forget to review!
