Welcome back to the highlight of this fic; Natasha's battle against the Champion of the Torren League. Will she be able to secure victory with her team of Delta Pokémon, or will she be forced to taste bitter defeat? This chapter holds the answer to this important question.

Torren Pokémon League Headquarters
"With Natasha's victory over the seemingly infallible London, she can now challenge the mysterious champion who has asserted their dominance for over a decade. Will she make history and become the regions new champion? Only time will tell…" The reporter spoke through the television, the crowd whipped up into a complete frenzy. After all this time, the terrifyingly strong Elite Four has been bested, and the champion would have to put their title on the line. The lobby was packed full of people, eager to see the most climactic battle in Torren's long history.
"I still can't believe she defeated London; his Trick Room team has caught many trainers by surprise." A man called out in the crowd.
"I know; personally, I thought that Yuki would've defeated her. Very few people know how to deal with a Hail-team, yet alone one as well-crafted as hers." A woman chimed in, her gaze fixed on the screen.
"Whatever the case, I just want to know who the champion is. From what I've heard, they're much stronger than the Augur; the REAL Augur, not that phony Jaern." Someone else stated, a look of anticipation on their face.
"As strong as they may be, I'm confident in Natasha's victory." Nora replied, resting comfortably on the seat as the crowd watched the screens fervently.

Making her way out of London's room, Natasha noticed that something was slightly different about the room, namely that the Giratina statue shifted back a couple feet. Where it once stood was a small warp pad, glowing dimly within the room. This must part of some automated system, only activating once the Elite Four had been defeated. Anxiety welled up within her; who was this champion, why didn't they lift a finger to help during the Cult Wars, and just how powerful were they? These questions plagued her mind as she gazed at the warp tile. Taking a deep breath, she stepped onto it, a tingling sensation coursing throughout her body as she was soon warped somewhere else.
Upon entering the room, she was taken aback by the visual feast. The walls were a mixture of black and gold, just like her luxurious outfit. Throughout the room were solid gold statues of every single Legendary and Mythical Pokémon in the world, with various precious gems embedded in them. As tempting as it was to gaze at the beautiful sight forever, she was here for one purpose only. Mustering up all her courage, she made her way to the arena, her eyes locked on the figure on the other side. They appeared to be a middle-aged man, wearing a black trench-coat and a matching black fedora, a white business suit underneath his coat. That outfit, she could've sworn she'd seen it somewhere, but where exactly had slipped her mind.
"I should've known we'd fight each other eventually. After all, you were the only one who was able to tame that Larvesta." The man spoke, causing Natasha's blood to freeze as she recognized it. He promptly turned around, confirming her worst fears; Reukra, leader of the Perfection Cult, was the Champion of Torren. "It's been a while, Natasha."
"Y-You're the Champion?!" Was all the purple-haired girl could say, gob smacked by what she was seeing. No, this wasn't possible; she was just going crazy from anxiety. She began pinching her legs, hoping it was all a crazy dream, but she wasn't waking up at all. "T-This is…"
"I take it you didn't expect to see me here? Can't blame you; nobody would've expected Reukra, leader of the Perfection Cult to be champion." Reurka spoke calmly. "Besides, I usually order Taen to do my work. But as you know, I vastly overestimated his abilities."
"S-So is this why you sought the perfect Pokémon, to keep your title of Champion?!" Natasha exclaimed, the older man chuckling lightly.
"I guess you can say that. I've spent my life seeking perfection. Deltas, Megas, Armor, Mewtwo, even the Original Dragon of Unova. All of it was futile, no thanks to your efforts. Everything was strong, but not strong enough." He listed off his various attempts at perfection, attempts that Natasha had thwarted in the past. "But you know what the worst part was? How ridiculous people find my goal to be."
"Can you blame them? There's no such thing as a perfect Pokémon. I told you this at your headquarters, and I'm telling you this now. Everything, ranging from the smallest Pokémon, to the mightiest Legendary has a weakness. Your goal was doomed from the very beginning!" The purple-haired girl declared, only for her enemy to begin laughing under his breath. "What's so funny?"
"…You're right. You were right from the very beginning." He admitted, catching her by surprise. "It was only after recalling my various failures at your hands that I realized something; I should've taken a different approach from the very beginning."
"And where exactly are you are going with this?" Natasha inquired.
"Instead of creating a perfect, unbeatable Pokémon, I should've focused on creating the perfect team of Pokémon. Think about it, a team of powerful Pokémon, perfectly synchronized so that each member covered their comrade's weaknesses and increased their strengths. Such a team would be undefeatable; it would be perfect." Reukra explained, a sinister smile forming on his face. "And with this perfect team, the team that I was only able to make due to your meddling, will be your downfall. Prepare for the end…"
"I'm not scared of your so-called 'perfect team'; I will defeat you and bring you to justice, just like I promised my dearest companion!" The purple-haired girl declared, the duo throwing their Pokéballs at the same time. Natasha had sent out her Bisharp, while Reukra sent out his Tyranitar, the large dinosaur protected by a highly-durable set of armor.
The Tyranitar roared loudly, conjuring up a series of large, jagged rocks before hurling them at the Bisharp, the latter dodging most of them with ease before punching the few it wasn't able to dodge in time. Brushing the debris off its hands, it quickly leaped into the air and landed a jump kick on the dinosaur's stomach, the beast grunting as the armor absorbed most of the impact. Snarling at the warrior, it smacked it away with its thick tail, the Bisharp rolling on the floor before picking itself back up. Gazing at the armor, an idea formed in its mind, the Flying Sword Pokémon running towards it. Roaring once more, the Tyranitar stomped on the ground, creating a powerful tremor that rocked the arena. The Bisharp leaped just in time, its leg cloaked in an intense fire as it kicked the dinosaur's armor once more, igniting it easily.
The Tyranitar roared in surprise, trying desperately to put the fire out, but to no avail. Despite it's rocky skin protecting it from the flames, the same couldn't be said for its armor, the metal plates falling to the ground as they were rendered useless. Infuriated, the dinosaur reared its head back and fired a Hyper Beam, the powerful attack striking the Bisharp and sent it flying backwards. Just before it could crash into the wall, it caught itself and sprung off of it, flying towards the Tyranitar. Not wanting it to recover from the attack, it pummeled the large dinosaur with its fists, finishing things off with an uppercut to the jaw. The Tyranitar staggered on the spot for a moment before collapsing onto its stomach, unable to continue battling.
"Should've expected this; the armor has always been my least favorite plan." Reukra replied bluntly, recalling his Pokémon. "Given that you're Little Miss Delta, you should know all about this next Pokémon."
With a flick of his wrist, the cult leader sent out his Delta Haxorus, the bipedal shark snarling at Natasha. Owning one herself, she knew just how powerful they were, but was confident that Bisharp could handle it. Huffing to itself, the Flying Sword Pokémon lunged at the Haxorus, delivering a powerful jump kick that caused the latter to stagger backwards. However, the shark was able to endure the attack, spinning rapidly on the ground to greatly bolster its fighting spirit. Glaring at the warrior, it began pummeling it with a series of punches as fast as bullets, ending things with a swing from its tail that sent the Bisharp flying into the wall. It crashed into the surface and fell to the ground, unable to continue battling.
'This isn't good, I need to find a way to out speed it, otherwise it would sweep my team.' Natasha thought to herself, recalling her Bisharp as she mulled over who to send out next. Quickly reaching a decision, the purple-haired girl sent out her Typhlosion, the honey badger roaring in defiance. Eyeing up its opponent, it cloaked its body in electricity and charged at it, only for the Haxorus to conjure up a wonderous wall of light in response, shielding it from the devastating attack. The large shark attempted to slam its head down on its foe, only for the honey badger to dodge the attack easily, retaliating with a weak bolt of lightning that paralyzed the bipedal shark. With its foe now vulnerable, the Typhlosion moved in for the kill, channeling its power to send a deep blue orb into the sky as it exploded, creating a temporary rainstorm. Its body crackled to life thanks to the rain, an incredible power coursing throughout the honey badger. Standing on its hindlegs, the Typhlosion roared loudly, conjuring up a wicked bolt of lightning that struck the Haxorus head on. The bipedal shark roared in pain as electricity coursed through its body, slumping forward a few moments later as it was knocked out from the attack.
Narrowing his eyes slightly, Reukra recalled his Pokémon and sent out his Kyurem, the purple-haired girl stepping back in surprise. It was merged with Zekrom, creating Kyurem-Black. Kyurem was already powerful on its own, but when merged with Zekrom, it was nearly unbeatable. But despite this, the Typhlosion wasn't intimidated at all; if anything, it was thrilled to be able to fight such a strong opponent. Uttering a guttural roar, the Kyurem's tail began crackling with electricity, the legendary soon enveloped in an orb of violet electricity. Flying into the air, it slammed itself into the honey badger, sending the latter flying back several feet. Even with a type resistance to Electric attacks, it still took a lot of damage from the powerful move. Panting lightly, it spat onto the floor, arching its back as it fired off a series of powerful Flash Cannons. The Kyurem was assaulted by the barrage, staggering back a few feet as it grunted in pain.
A low growl escaped from its throat, the dragon taking to the skies and conjured up a series of meteors. The meteors rained down on the arena, the Typhlosion bobbing and weaving as it was soon struck by a meteor. It flew forwards a few feet, its body battered from the powerful attack. Slowly getting back up, it gazed at its foe, panting in exhaustion as it recalled its fight against Nyx's Garchomp. It knocked it out with a sacrificial explosion, secure the advantage its beloved trainer needed to win that battle. It's resolve established, the honey badger leaped onto the Kyurem, its body glowing brightly as the dragon's eyes widened in surprise. It tried desperately to shake its foe off, but to no avail; within moments the arena was rocked by a large explosion, the two combatants sent flying backwards and crashed into opposite walls, with Typhlosion falling onto the ground. It gazed at its opponent, watching the massive dragon fall onto the ground and stayed motionless, unable to continue battling. Satisfied, it soon succumbed to exhaustion, drifting off to sleep as the match ended in a draw.
"I'll make sure your sacrifice wasn't in vain." Natasha consoled her slumbering companion, recalling it to is ball as Reukra recalled his Kyurem. Despite knocking out half his team, she was sure he still had some tricks up his sleeve. Selecting her next Pokémon, she sent out her Chandelure, with the cult leader sending out his Flygon in response. Taking out his mega ring, Reukra pressed down on the keystone, his Flygon soon enveloped by a wondrous orb of light. It soon broke out of the orb, revealing it's all new form as Natasha gazed at it wearily. She had seen Mega Flygon before; Nora had used it against her a long time ago. She would need to plan her next move carefully if she wanted to defeat it. taking to the skies, the Flygon began beating its wings rapidly, an ear-piercing buzz echoing throughout the room. The Chandelure winced in pain, using its arms to cover its ears in order to protect itself.
Quickly recovering from the attack, the chandelier backed up a bit and fired a few streams of fire at the dragonfly, striking it directly as it was pushed back a few feet. Hissing at the Chandelure, the Flygon quickly took to the skies and uttered a draconic roar, its flapping wings amplifying the sound. Though the attack struck the Chandelure, it wasn't fazed at all due to its Fairy-typing, a revelation that caused the enemy to growl at itself for its mistake. Quickly settling for a second plan, the dragonfly took in a deep breath before uttering a roar that would strike fear into the hearts of most Pokémon. However, the chandelier was able to set up a Protect in time, the wall of light shielding it from the vicious roar as it smirked at its opponent. Its eyes began to glow pink, it's candles brimming with fae energy as it began collecting it into a large ball. Within moments, it fired the ball of energy at the Flygon, scoring a direct as it was flung into the back wall, devolving into its normal form as it was down for the count.
A slight frown formed on Reukra's face as he recalled his Pokémon; this was the closest he's ever been to facing defeat. However, he believed in his perfect team, a team that he had spent years creating in his pursuit of perfection. Taking out his next ball, he threw it to the ground, releasing his Mewtwo, only it looked different from when he first created it. Its body was now a pitch black, save for the tip of its tail which was as red as molten lava. Additionally, it had a jagged red spike growing from its right shoulder, the same shade of red as its tail.
"What did you…" Natasha began, taken aback by what she was looking at.
"Ever heard of Team Cipher? They're a villainous team that ran rampant in the Orre region and were the ones behind the creation of Shadow Pokémon. Shadow Pokémon are Pokémon who've had the doors to their heart shut off, granting them increased power, but causes them to become more aggressive. Getting my hands on Cipher's original research papers, I was able to create my own Shadow Pokémon that's far less aggressive and much stronger than theirs. Allow me to show you it's power…" Reukra explained, his Mewtwo growling at the Chandelure as it used it's psychic power to envelop it in an oppressive black aura. Raising its hand in the air, the chandelier slowly floated up, desperately shaking in the air as it attempted to break free. Bringing its hands together, the Mewtwo charged up a purple and black ball of corrupted energy, hurling it at the Chandelure and scored a direct hit. The Fairy-type quickly fell to the ground, crashing into the arena floor and was knocked out cold.
Wincing slightly, Natasha recalled her injured companion, gazing at the Mewtwo wearily as it growled once more. Regular Mewtwo was already a powerful creature, but Shadow Mewtwo? There were very few Pokémon that could last against such a being, yet alone defeat it. However, she did have a Pokémon that was both durable, and can dish out the pain, the purple-haired girl taking out another Pokéball and sent out her Metagross. The large spider chittered at the Mewtwo, the Shadow Pokémon narrowing its eyes at the pest. Charging up a ball of flames in its hands, it fired it in a stream at the spider, only for the latter to dig underground to avoid it. Moments later, the Metagross emerged from beneath the Mewtwo's feet and tackled it, knocking the Psychic-type into the ground.
Quickly getting back up, its eyes began glowing a deep purple, its body cloaked with a dark aura as it charged up a large ball of black energy. It fired the energy into a beam, the attack striking the Metagross as it was flung into the back wall, causing the building to quiver slightly. Slowly crawling out of the impact crater, the large spider glared weakly at the Mewtwo and began scuttling towards it. glaring back at the Metagross, the Shadow Pokémon charged up several Aura Spheres and began firing them, the large spider scuttling to the side to dodge them. When it was a few feet away, it leaped up into the air and slashed at the Mewtwo with its claws, the attack overcharging the Shadow Pokémon's dark aura and caused a massive explosion, sending both combatants flying backwards. They crashed into their respective walls and slide down to the ground, neither side able to continue battling.
"You're getting on my last nerves, Natasha…" Reukra admitted, as both trainers recalled their Pokémon. Within a moment, the older man took out his final Pokéball, tossing it in the air before catching this. "Let me ask you a question; what Pokémon is in this ball? And don't play dumb, I know you know the answer."
The purple-haired girl gazed at the ball, her mind going over all of her encounters with Reukra as she pondered on the ball's contents. Throughout this battle, she has fought against Pokémon that have fallen under Reukra's various experiments. Armor, the Dragons of Unova, Mewtwo, Mega Evolutions, Deltas. Deltas…weren't they the very first thing he experimented on? If so, then his final Pokémon must be a Delta, but what could it be exactly? It was then that she remembered something, namely the very first Pokémon he ever experimented on. It was back in the abandoned lab in Metchi Town, where he created a Pokémon so powerful that it could cause widespread chaos in the wrong hands. Actually, he created two Pokémon; one that she owns, and one that he has. The chips falling into place, Natasha retrieved her own Pokéball, holding it in front of her.
"The same one that's in this Pokéball…" She answered, the duo throwing their balls at the same time, their Delta Volcarona's ready for battle. However, Reukra's Volcarona was covered in a highly durable set of armor, no doubt binding the creature to its master's whims. Natasha's Volcarona gazed at its opponent, melancholy welling within it as it realized its situation. It would have to defeat its own brethren in order to get vengeance on its tormentor. "I understand your pain; being forced to fight your friend. Someday, we will release it from his control, I promise you." Natasha replied, a new resolve welling within the large moth.
"If you're done with the sentimental talk, let's settle the score once and for all. All or nothing!" The cult leader declared, with Natasha accepting the deadly wager. Should she lose this battle, then her run was forfeit, despite the fact that she was still able to sub in another Pokémon. However, she was confident that her companion could emerge victorious.
"Volcarona, use Spacial Rend!" She declared, her Volcarona conjuring up a rip in space and flung it at its armored foe. Though the attack landed a direct hit, Reukra's Volcarona was able to endure it, only being pushed back a few feet. The visor on its helmet glowing red, it fired a powerful laser at its opponent, scoring a direct hit and singed its fur lightly. Flying back a meter or so, Natasha's Volcarona swooped down towards its foe, the latter following suit as they tackled each other several times, warping via wormholes during the skirmish. They appeared in multiple dimensions, striking each other without restraint or mercy; a real do or die battle for the ages. Soon enough, they re-emerged into their home dimensions, both sides charging up several Aura Sphere's and flung them at each other. They were able to dodge most of the attacks, but were struck a few times, pushing each other back a few feet.
Though both sides were exhausted, they weren't ready to give up. Glaring at its opponent, Reukra's Volcarona conjured up an ominous wind with its wings, the room growing dark all of a sudden. However, Natasha's Volcarona countered with an Icy Wind, the biting-cold air freezing its enemy's attack and encased it in ice. Flying into the air, Natasha's Volcarona cloaked itself in a harsh brownish-orange aura, tackling into its opponent and sent it hurtling towards the wall. Crashing into it, Reukra's Volcarona flew towards its foe, panting lightly through its helmet as it was desperate to finish things off. Sensing its opponent's desperation, Natasha's Volcarona began glowing with a harsh purple and black aura, it's opponent following suit. Both combatants tackled into each other, creating a massive explosion that caused both trainers to shield their faces. When the smoke died down, it showed that both Volcarona's were floating in the air, their wings flapping weakly as their bodies ached all over. A moment later, Reukra's Volcarona fell to the ground, unable to continue battling as Natasha won her greatest victory ever.
"We did it…?" Natasha spoke, gob smacked by what she was seeing as a wide smile soon formed on her face. "We did it; we actually did it!"
"V-Vol…" Her Volcarona chirped weakly, slowly flying towards its brethren, only to flinch in place as it saw Reukra recall it to its ball.
"So, that's it then…" He began, a hint of melancholy in his voice. "What a battle; it's clear to me who the superior trainer is. But don't get comfortable; I will improve my team, and we will battle again."
"Reukra…" A familiar voice called out, the duo turning to see Professor Sylvan walking towards them. "It's been a while, hasn't it?"
"Indeed, it has been." Reukra replied. "I take it you saw the entire battle?"
"Not just me, but the entire region. Your secret has been exposed to the public." She told him, turning to face Natasha. "Congratulations, young lady. A few months ago, you had stepped into my lab and adopted all three Delta Pokémon I had, and now look at you. You accomplished a task that no trainer has been able to complete in over a decade. Oh, if only your parents were able to see this momentous occasion…"
"Yeah, I'm sure they'll be proud of me." Natasha replied, wiping away a small tear. With the looming threat of Giratina now over, she could go back to the Dream Realm and rescue her father.
"Come, let's get you registered in the Hall of Fame." Sylvan said, the purple-haired girl recalling her Volcarona as they walked to the room behind Reukra.
"Wait!" He called out, attracting their attention. "Sylvan…Thank you. For keeping my secret. For…everything."
"No worries. I just wish I was able to save you from your madness." The professor replied, a hint of sadness in her voice as she walked in the Hall of Fame, followed by Natasha. Walking towards the machine, the older woman gestured the teenager to put all of her Pokémon on the tray, recording her monumental achievement for the ages. Once her deeds were recorded, she retrieved her Pokémon, the professor gesturing her to follow her into the main lobby. No doubt she would be swamped by so many reporters, eager to ask her a boatload of questions.
0000
Natasha finally made it back outside the building after a strenuous session of answering question after question, ranging from where she got her Volcarona, to how she felt upon learning about Reukra's identity as the Champion, and how she was handling the whole ordeal with what Jaern had done to her. On the plus side, she was able to have a nice cup of team with Yuki, the hail master telling her about all that has happened following her disappearance. Taking the time to catch her breath, she was soon caught off-guard by the door opening, a familiar face walking up to her.
"Even after re-watching the battle, I still can't believe it; Reukra was the Champion all along. No wonder he didn't lift a finger to help the First Augur, he was a cult leader all along." Nora commented.
"I know; he was watching my journey from the very beginning, before I had even gotten my first Pokémon." The purple-haired girl replied, her gaze fixed on the sky. "So where do I go now?"
"I've got the perfect thing for you!" The green-haired girl quipped, bringing out her CyberNav. "The Scientist's Club has just announced an expedition to the Holon Region, home of the Delta Species. I've signed the two of us up to join them on the expedition, but they're still waiting for one last member, a Professor Pine who's researching the possibility of Delta Pokémon being able to breed. The last I've heard, she's in Metchi Town."
"In that case, I'll pay her a visit. Hopefully it won't take too long." Natasha replied, the duo embracing each other firmly before the purple-haired girl took out her Noivern, hopping onto it's back and flew to her destination.
Around and hour later, she arrived at her destination, landing a few meters away from the Metchi Town Day care as she saw what looked like a scientist talking to the day care couple. She wore a business suit and white lab-coat, just like every other scientist in the region. Her short hair was a vivid purple, just like Professor Sylvan; could they be sisters? Cousins? Whatever the case, she was the person she needed to speak. Approaching the older woman with her Noivern in tow, she quietly waited for an opportunity to speak, the elderly couple taken aback by her Pokémon.
"Hmmm? Is everything al—" She began, slowly turning around as she gazed at the young Champion, her Noivern preening its grassy fur. "Y-You're…"
"Forgive me for my rudeness, but your Professor Pine, right?" She began, the older woman nodding in confirmation as the teenager fished a journal out of her bag. "I believe this is yours."
"Why yes, it is…" Pine replied, accepting her journal back before gazing at the Noivern once more. "This must mean that you took care of the remaining egg."
"Correct. Do you still have your Noivern?" Natasha inquired, the purple-haired woman taking out a Pokéball from her jacket.
"Yes, I do. However, I was planning on releasing it into the wild once I arrive in the Holon region. But before I go, I was asked to investigate a possible sighting of a Delta Ditto at this very day care. May I ask for your assistance?" She requested.
"Definitely. I'm more than happy to help you." The teenager accepted, with the elderly couple gesturing the duo to follow them into the small meadow behind the building, before letting them go off on their own. They explored the small area, approaching a vivid blue rock that sat there in the open, raising their suspicion. Moments later, a face formed on the rock, blinking at the two women as it smiled at them. Gazing at the Noivern, it's body began to warp and glow, transforming into a Delta Noivern that looked exactly like the one standing behind Natasha. It soon reverted back into its normal form, confirming the duo's suspicions.
"So it does exist; a Delta Ditto…" Professor Pine commented in awe, turning her head to face Natasha. "Quickly, before it runs away."
"Got it!" Natasha replied, taking out a Pokéball and flung it at the Delta Ditto, capturing it easily. It wiggled on the ground for a few moments before lying still, indicating a successfully capture. Picking up the device, Natasha tucked it into her pocket before turning to face the older woman. "You said that you were researching Delta Pokémon, right? Do you, by any chance, know a woman named Luisa?"
"Y-Yeah, she was my older sis—" The professor began, a sudden realization dawning upon her. "You're her daughter?! I-I thought you were—"
"Dead? That was a lie constructed by Jaern, her real killer." The teenage girl replied, catching her aunt by surprise. "Don't worry, the police have apprehended that lying bastard. Besides, we've got more important things, like an expedition to the Holon Region."
"Y-Yeah. I hope you don't mind if I catch a flight with you on your Noivern." Pine requested, her niece nodding in confirmation as the duo made their way out of the meadow, unaware of the exciting, yet dangerous adventure ahead of them.
