AAAAAaaaaannnnddd I'm on time yet again! This week has been rather cruisee and I like to think I'm getting better at my new job, I even predicted something and was right, didn't have to double handle it later which was great on my part!
Owlthewriter - Thank you! I'm glad you liked it! I tried to stick with her original fears and looked into the one's that weren't really touched on and made them my own, in the end I was happy with how they turned out.
On wards!
It's time for the last stage of initiation, how will Tris go?
As Tris walked towards the mess hall she could hear the shouts and cheers of people. Peering around the corner into the room she saw herself up on the big screen. Everytime she passed to another simulation level the crowd would cheer.
As she watched herself on the screen she realized that 1 of her fears was missing.
"Alice?" She asked aloud in a whisper.
"Yes Tris?" Came Alice's soft voice.
"Where's my fear of intimacy?"
"Throughout the week your subconscious feared the simulation and people seeing that specific fear of yours, so I adjusted your psyche and worked with you in the back of your mind so that it was no longer a fear of yours but instead an emotional detachment"
"You can do that?"
"The theory was there, I just applied the practication of it."
"Hum." Tris hummed to herself as she watched herself complete the last of her fears.
"Good job." Four said from behind her, having seemingly appeared out of nowhere. Making her spin to face him. "You even lost a fear." He congratulated her.
"Ah, thanks." She blushed.
"You should go sit with your friends and have a small snack to eat. The last stage starts in an hour." He motioned towards the mess, a small smile gracing his lips.
With a nod she made her way into the mess hall and was greeted with a massive round of applause, cheers and screams coming from all corners. As she walked people stopped her to pat her back, shook her hand or otherwise congratulate her on her amazing run through the simulation.
Once finally seated at the table with her friends the conversation came naturally as they all ate small snacks, nothing that would fill them, but enough to give them energy and carbs to burn.
Before long Max's voice silenced the room. "Initiates, it is time." He began, slowly staggering out each word, "Win or lose you could still stay or leave, so please make your way to the training hall for the last time. Dauntless members, stay where you are, keep your eyes on the screens and let the last battle of the initiation begin."
The room erupted into a chaotic mess of excitement as the initiates filed out and toward the training hall for the last time.
Upon entering the small screen lit up with their names and their opponent.
Tris skimmed through the list and found that they had evened everything out by skill versus strength.
Marlene vs Christina. Not to her surprise.
Will vs a Dauntless born neither of them knew.
Molly vs Drew. Tris couldn't wait to watch that fight.
Peter vs Lynn. She felt bad for Lynn.
Tris vs Uriah. Again she wasn't surprised.
All in all they were good matchups in her opinion.
First up was Marlene and Christina, their fight was pretty evenly matched with both of them relying on speed and endurance, leaving them both battered, bruised and breathing heavily. But the fight wouldn't be over till one of them could no longer fight, they didn't need to be rendered unconscious, but they needed to be made unable to continue. In the end it was Christina that went down.
Marlene helped Christina out of the ring and both of them limped off to pay a visit to the infirmary.
A dauntless born fight proceeded theirs, but even so Tris watched on intently, looking for weaknesses and openings in their fight.
After was Will's fight, and to Tris' surprise Will was able to defeat the Dauntless born rather quickly. Although the other was definitely stronger, he left far too many openings in his stance and thanks to training with Tris and the others Will was able to see them too.
It was becoming apparent that in between each the fight would be a Dauntless born verse fight, but Tris paid attention to every single one.
Molly and Drew's fight was vicious to say the least, even though they were supposed to be friends, they fought like enemies. Molly eventually took Drew down, but only out of sheer endurance and the fact that Drew was slower.
After the next Dauntless born fight was Peter and Lynn. Tris watched as the pair of them went at it with full force. For a small girl Lynn hit hard and was turning Peter into a mural of colours, but Peter was sly and made a cheap shot to the side of her head sending her down hard. By this time Marlene was just returning from the infirmary when she saw Lynn hit the mat. Darting forward with a glare towards Peter she carefully lifted Lynn up with the help of Will and the pair took her to the infirmary barely conscious.
With a deep sigh Tris made her way to the ring facing off against Uriah, his normal goofy smile on his face. "So how do you want to do this?" Uriah mischievously grinned.
"Let's give them what they want…" Tris smirked as she squared off in a defensive stance. "A good show."
Uriah made the first move, opening with a fast roundhouse kick which Tris was quick to block and throw back the other way sending the other off balance. Uriah used the backwards momentum to throw his body around further and right into his next attack that caught Tris off guard making her barely able to block it.
The hit landed hard against Tris' side staggering her a few feet. Quickly shaking it off she instantly was back on the defence, calculating when would be the best time to start attacking back. She didn't have to wait long for him to leave an opening by his head and she was quick to take the opportunity sending a kick there, to her surprise though her foot was caught before she could make contact.
Uriah smiled cheekily at her as the grip on her foot became near painfull. Wincing an idea popped into her head, she threw her body to the side using the leverage and her hands on the ground to stabilize her to swing her other foot up to meet the other side of Uriah's head, where she locked her ankles together around the back of his neck and proceeded to throw him with her legs to the ground. Quickly she shifted his head to between her thighs as she began to squeeze.
The other was quick to react by bringing his legs up and around her body, using them to throw her to the side. Taking a few deep breaths he slowly got to his feet while Tris rolled on her side and staggered to her own feet.
Being too evenly matched their fight continued to go back and forth for longer than any of the previous. By the 16 minute mark they were both breathing heavily, a sheen of sweat covering their battered bodies they both made a last ditch attempt to incapacitate the other. Tris ducked and sent a final punch upwards into the bottom of Uriah's jaw sending him backwards and to the floor.
The match was called and Tris fell to her knees, before she could fall forward someone's hand was under her arm holding her up, followed by another hand under her other arm. She found herself being hoisted up to her feet and walked her out of the room. After a few minutes of directed walking she felt herself becoming more coherent of her surroundings.
Shaking her head to clear it further she first noticed the 2 distinct mixed smells around her, one strong and commanding, the other warm and calming. Sighing into Four and Eric's strong arms holding her up she saw they were on their way to Max's office.
Once there, she was sat down on one of the plush chairs in his office while the 2 men stepped to the side. Max sat behind his desk, elbows on top, fingers laced together, chin resting on top. "I know you are tired Tris and would like nothing more than to rest before the results but I would like to talk to you more about your future."
Tris sighed before she stretched, a popping sound resonating from her sore muscles. "Let's get this over with then."
"Right I would like to announce straight after the scoring is posted that you will be a leader in training."
Tris thought about it for a moment then shook her head. "I feel it would be better if you waited until after the other initiated full members received their jobs and apartments. I'm right in thinking that the 'celebration' will last a couple of days while we settle in?"
Max nodded.
"Then on the last day of the celebration or maybe even on the same day that the new members get their jobs and apartments announce it during dinner. If you do it straight after the posting of who made it, everyone will assume whatever my score is was rigged."
Max seemed to consider it for a moment then smiled. "This is why I like you Tris, you have a practical way of thinking and problem solving." Standing he walked around his desk and placed a hand on her shoulder. "We will do it your way. Now, go rest before the results are posted."
