Blind Eye 4-11
Episode 4 part 11
The gang slipped quietly away from their hiding place and took the elevator back down to the main party area.
"Those guys on the roof can't be the only accomplices that Reggie has with him." said Rafael, "As soon as we get off this elevator keep your eyes peeled. There have got to be more Sundance soldiers here."
"Yeah," said Elle, "After all, if we crashed the party why couldn't they."
The others nodded in agreement.
A split second the later the elevator dinged and the four couples stepped off the elevator into the room where the main part of the party was being held.
They all spread out and made their way to different parts of the room.
Up near the front of the room was a platform with a podium. Behind the podium was a giant crystal sphere on a pedestal. It was almost full with cash donations. One by one the gang looked and saw more hundred-dollar bills than they had ever seen in their lives. There were also donations made with checks and online, but the gang was sure the cash was what Reggie was after. It was the easiest to dispose of.
The couples all began to dance with each other on the dance floor so they could talk without drawing attention to themselves.
"I spotted 7 more more Sundance soldiers in the room," whispered Rafael
"Look again," said Elle, "There are 9."
"I only count 7." Said Rafael, "Where are you getting 9?"
"There are two dressed as waiters." Replied Elle
Rafael looked at the waiters again.
"She's right!" he said, "How did you know Elle?"
"Two things," said Elle, "First: I heard them talking in their clan's dialect a minute ago, and Second: All of the Sundance clan's male members wear the same lousy cologne."
"Yeah," chuckled Rafael, "They make it themselves and call it Essence O'Suave!"
"Smells more like Essence O'Skunk." Muttered Elle bringing snickers and agreement from her friends.
"Okay," said Connor, "With the 2 on the roof with Reggie that makes 11."
Just as the song ended, the clock chimed midnight and Mr. Rollins the chairman of the National Dressage and Show Jumping Association stepped up to the podium.
"Ladies and Gentlemen," he announced with a big smile. "I am pleased to inform you that…"
"This is a stickup!" yelled another voice, "everybody down on the floor."
A figure dressed in a designer suit and a ski mask brandishing a pair of pistols had appeared in the doorway. Immediately the Sundance Clan members pulled their own weapons out from under their coats.
Everybody in the room started to lower themselves to the floor. As Elle and Connor sank to the floor Elle appeared to be listening intently.
"Alright," said the man in the designer suit and ski mask to his accomplices, "Start emptying the money out of the Crystal sphere into the sacks we brought and hurry!"
Several of the Sundance soldiers did as he said.
"That's clearly Reggie," Whispered Lisa to Rafael
"Connor," whispered Elle, "I found it!"
"found what?" asked Connor.
"I've managed to hone in on the sound of a junction point, between several of the lighting wires inside the wall to my right," said Elle, "they overlap and if I hit them right in the middle with my throwing star it'll cause them to short out and kill the lights. The whole room will go dark!"
"Then we can turn the tables on these clowns!" nodded Connor
Elle nodded,
"Pass the word," she instructed, "and tell the others to be ready to move fast. As soon as the main lights go out, we'll have about 15 second before the emergency lights come on!"
Connor nodded and whispered instructions to Lisa, who whispered them to Rafael, who whispered them to Phil and so on down the line.
Connor moved to block Elle from the view of the gunman as best he could while she reached down and pulled a throwing star out of its hiding place in the heel of her boot.
"Get ready." She whispered
Connor nodded and gave a subtle nod to the others as well. Suddenly Connor stepped to the side and Elle let the throwing star fly. It smashed through the drywall, sparks flew from the hole and the room went dark!
"What? What happened?" Yelped Reggie, "Get the lights back on!"
"The emergency lights will come on in a minute." Said one of the other Sundance Clan members.
Suddenly the Sundance soldier that had just spoken was grabbed from behind and jerked to the floor. Rafael nailed him with a haymaker and he was out cold. Phil, Connor and Liam. Each tackled two of the soldiers.
There was a slashing sound in the dark and two more of Romani clan dropped to the floor with cries of pain.
"Nice work, Elle." Whispered Rafael. Just then the emergency lights came on and Rafael realized it was Lisa standing there with her drawn sword in her hand.
Rafael looked at her with a "how" look on his face.
Lisa grinned at him.
"Elle taught me to fight blindfolded." She explained
There was only Reggie and one Sundance foot soldier left.
"Where's the other girl," snapped Reggie, "the blind one!"
Suddenly there was a sword at his throat.
"Right behind you." grinned Elle
The remaining Foot soldier made a grab for Elle's arm, but Elle felt it coming. She cracked him over the head with the base of her cane and laid him out cold on the floor.
"Give it up Reggie," snapped Elle pulling his mask off, "You've lost!"

A few weeks Later the whole gang was at the Moondance Clan camp celebrating with Phoebus. He had just completed his initiation trials and was now a man in the eyes of the Clan.
There was a huge feast. And the gang was going doing the line filling their plates up.
"Well, I don't think where going to have to worry about Reggie for a long time." Said Lisa, she and the gang had just come from the courthouse to the party.
"Oh, good he got convicted then," said Melanie
"Big time," Replied Carole, "The Judge practically threw the book at him after his getaway driver spilled the beans to save his own neck."
"Well, it couldn't happen to a nicer guy." Said Stevie
The others nodded in agreement. They all sat down together at one of the tables.
"Oh, and guess what guys," said Connor, "The NDSJ Association is giving us each $5000.00 as a reward for saving the fundraiser!"
"You know we won't see a cent of that money." Grumbled Lisa, "Our parents will just put it in our college funds."
The others groaned a little as they realized that that was true.
"Well, we'll just have to look forward to our next adventure!" said Stevie
"If we have another one." observed Carole
Lisa grinned.
"With Elle around, count on it!"
