Cutting off the head of the snake
Chapter 38th
Special Agent Gibbs had been brought into recovery with the nurses making sure he was hooked up to all of the medical equipment for now. Until they are able to decide to bring him to the cardiac unit on the ninth floor. Doctor Dens will be arriving momentarily after speaking with Lt. Loriele Baskins in the waiting room.
Moving inside the recovery. Doctor Dens once again took a look at his chart making sure that the team inside was watching their patient for any further issues with his heart. He had noticed that his primary care physician Doctor Cyril Taft is a heart specialist.
He was wondering whether he had been called about his patient back in Washington, D.C. He checks Gibbs's eyes, blood pressure, and heart rate having to be a good sign at this time.
An older nurse came over to say to him that a doctor Cyril Taft has arrived having been flown in by helicopter with his connections with NCIS. Even though Vance and the team members will be arriving soon as well.
"Excellent. Have him come inside here so that I can talk with him." he will have to say.
She left to bring him inside the recovery area. Meanwhile, Doctor Dens checked the pressure bandage on his chest.
Moments later the nurse had walked in with Doctor CYRIL TAFT in a white gown. He goes to shake Doctor Dens' hand as he goes to explain the entire situation to him. "Jesus! I just can't take him anywhere without getting injured! Where is Loreile?" he asked with the question.
"She supposed to be inside the waiting room." Doctor Dens needed to say for the moment.
"What exactly was done with the chest?" Doctor Taft was given his file on what exactly was done during surgery.
"I will take this with me in order to talk with Loreile. Thank you for saving his life," he said with sadness with the sadness of his tone.
"No problem. Just as long as he's going to be alright Doctor Taft. They had to shock his heart a number of times while he in the ambulance and in the operating room.
WAITING ROOM
Loreile had been waiting for Director Leon Vance to arrive by helicopter. He was supposed to have talked with the team. Though it might take time for them to reach this particular hospital.
She was sitting in a chair closing her eyes to rest. This entire episode with Gibbs getting injured. Here they were for just a two-week vacation. She heard the double doors opening to see that it was Doctor Cyril Taft a close friend of Gibbs.
"How's he doing Doc?" she was a nervous wreck having asked the question.
"The damage has been repaired Loreile. It's going to take a few days before we know for sure. Otherwise, he's going to be closely watched for any issues with his heart or infection in the wound area."
One hour later with the NCIS helicopter landing on the top of the hospital with Vance, McGee, and Torres while leaving Bishop home.
There was a hospital representative waiting for them once the blades of the Huey helicopter to stop and have the NCIS personnel move out to head inside to the tenth-floor waiting room and meet up with Loreile.
Taking the elevator to the tenth floor. They moved out of the elevator to head on over to the waiting area. The representative asked them whether they needed anything right now like coffee. They all agreed to coffee.
Loreile woke quickly with not having anything new on Gibb's condition.
"Did they say how long Gibbs is going to be staying at this particular hospital?" Vance needed to ask with sitting down on the chair.
"Don't know Leon. They were waiting to hear from Doctor Cyril Taft on whether or not it was a good idea to transfer Jethro to Bethesda hospital," she commented.
"I rather see Gibbs in Bethesda having to be around his own doctors," Vance said by rubbing the back of his neck.
"Loreile what exactly happened?" McGee had to ask the question since Vance didn't say all that much to move the phone and the flight down to the hospital.
"A male gambler was pissed off at losing his shirt at blackjack and the dealer told him to move away from the table. And he did for a little while until he was angry enough to come back with a revolver in his coat jacket with killing the dealer and shooting Jethro in the chest before security was able to take out the shooter," she said with a deep breath.
It was at this particular moment a nurse came in to escort Loreile to ICU since they had moved Gibbs from recovery.
She told her friend to relax until she comes back from ICU.
