A/N: Before this chapter gets started I would just like to say rest in peace to the actress Jessica Walter, who passed away last Thursday. For those who don't know who she was, she was a great actress who appeared in such roles as Lucille Bluth in Arrested Development, Mallory Archer in Archer, apparently voiced Granny Goodness in the animated Harley Quinn series and has had a ton of different acting credits to her name. She was a great actress with a lot of humour and wit, may she rest in peace.
Volume 3 Intermission part 2
The next day
It was early morning in the Vale police station when both Agent Stern and Agent Krantz were making their way to the coroners office after having been called in by the coroner to come look at a body. So now they entered the room and saw that the coroner was eating a sandwich while being surrounded by several dead bodies, both agents tried not to vomit while seeing that.
"Oh come Jim, can't you do that in the break room!" Exclaimed Stern
The coroner, who was a middle aged bald man with a white beard and blue eyes who also wore a medical jacket, finished eating his sandwich and replied "Well excuse me, I have been busy these last couple of days with all the people that died during the attack. You two should feel lucky that I was able to finish looking over your victim so fast."
Agent Krantz elbowed her partner in the side and replied "Sorry, you know how he gets early in the morning."
"It's fine, look I was able to determine the cause of death for your victim. I won't bore you with the details but his heart was stopped by some form of electricity, and he received several blows to the head which also led to brain damage." Said Jim.
"How long has he been dead?" Asked Stern.
"I'd say about a week and a half." Replied Jim.
"Then we know enough, let's go Roslyn." Said Stern, as he walked out of the coroners office.
Agent Krantz was left with the coroner and asked out of interest "What is with the other bodies?"
"Those, oh... A lot of Faunus were killed in the chaos. I think a lot of people took it as an opportunity to let their inner demons get the better of them." Replied Jim.
"That doesn't excuse it." Replied Agent Krantz.
"I know, and it's a terrible loss of life. I still have to go through a lot of bodies." Said Jim.
"Good luck, and don't forget to come up to the break room. Don't let all the work keep you down here." Said Agent Krantz as she left the room to go and find her partner. She made her way out of the basement of the police station and made her way to the cell block where she found Agent Stern talking against one of the prisoners in the cell block. She didn't say anything and instead she decided to listen in on the conversation.
"Alright listen up Xander, not only can we link you to all the chaos in Vale but we can also link you to the death of Harvey Greenleaf. Look, either you tell us where you stashed those missing weapons or we'll add obstruction to the investigation to your list of crimes. How's that sound?" Asked Agent Stern.
Xander didn't look up from the bed he was laying on, scoffed and replied "I don't care, our plans may have been stopped but there will be people out there who feel the same way we do. They'll break us out."
"Right, you're a real messiah." Replied Agent Stern.
"You might doubt me now, but they'll break us out. The Emerald Spears will never die, not as long as there are robots out there who believe themselves to be equal to humans." Said Xander.
"That's a nice sentiment, but guess what? What you're saying will never come to pass. See, we're already talking with the General of the Atlesian military to have you all transported to Atlas to pay for your crimes. Whatever followers you have here, will never be able to break you out." Said Stern.
"Is that so officer?" Asked Xander, who sat up to face Agent Stern "How do you know that the general can be trusted, didn't he allow all those robots to attack your precious city?"
Agent Stern smirked and replied "Normally I would be a bit more apprehensive, but the headmaster of Beacon academy has vouched for him and it turns out that he was just a victim. Like what you turned your old leader into."
"So you figured out that I killed that oaf Harvey, so what? What kind of difference does it make?" Asked Xander.
"Well, let's just put it this way. You made yourself leader, meaning that you are now responsible for all the crimes committed by the Emerald Spears. And as leader, you would be looking at nearly thirty years to life in prison. So why don't you think about that whilst you are being transported to Atlas." Said Agent Stern, after which he closed the door to the prison cell and walked away from it with a smug smirk on his face.
Agent Krantz met up with him and said "It take it that you're enjoying this?"
"Roslyn, you have no idea. Now, how about after we finish all the paperwork we take the entire force out for drinks. My treat, how does that sound?" Asked Stern.
"Sounds great, just know that if you get too drunk that I won't carry you home again." Replied Roslyn.
"Don't worry about it, the doctors said that I'm still healing so I won't be able to drink too much." Said Agent Stern, after which he and Roslyn made their way to their desks and continued working on their paperwork and their account of what happened during the last couple of days.
At Beacon
It was early in the morning at Beacon, most students were still asleep and a few of them decided to wake up early to have breakfast. Weiss was one of them, as she was having breakfast with her sister in the Beacon courtyard while also recounting what happened while Weiss and her friends were kidnapped.
"So all of that happened?" Asked Winter, as she was taking in what Weiss had told her.
"Yeah, learning what father had done to Whitley... It made me feel terrible." Replied Weiss. "I'm just glad that Ruby had managed to take that USB with her only for it to have been encrypted. So now we can't do anything." Replied Weiss.
"Weiss, I wouldn't worry about it. You're safe and unharmed, sure Whitley might be under his control but he is also unharmed. Maybe by taking out that robot he will be able to get his aura back, and might be able to break free from his control." Said Winter.
"I guess." Said Weiss, as she used her fork to poke at her food with a somber look on her face.
Winter saw this and said "How are your friends, it must have been a harrowing experience for them. I even invited them for breakfast... you did tell them right?"
"I did, but Ruby and Yang wanted to have breakfast with their father, Rock wanted to catch up with Doctor Light and Blake just wanted to have a calm morning. So she's in our room reading one of her books with some food and a cup of tea." Replied Weiss.
"What about the other team?" Asked Winter.
"They wanted to have breakfast as a team, and decided to make it a team activity by making breakfast together." Replied Weiss.
"But how are they doing, I can only imagine that dying and then coming back would have some impact on them." Said Winter.
"It did, Yang went after him and nearly murdered that man. Ruby has some trouble sleeping, but thanks to the therapy from Professor Peach and the plant that calms her down its getting better." Said Weiss. "Although, between you and me... If I was in her position, and either you or Whitley were killed I would have made sure that whoever was responsible for what happened would pay for it."
"Hmm, I wouldn't hesitate with killing them." Replied Winter.
"Wait, what?"
"Weiss, if you or Whitley were to be killed by someone. Maybe someone with fire powers, or some other villain I wouldn't hesitate in hunting down that person and making sure that the last moments of their miserable life would be filled with misery and anguish, and only when I have taken away hope and they are nothing more than shivering mess of a being. Only then would I give them the embrace of death." Said Winter.
Weiss gave Winter a look of shock and said "Oh my gods Winter."
"What, I would be devastated if I lost you or Whitley." Replied Winter.
"But still, a bit much don't you think?" Asked Weiss.
"Maybe, but I would never let anyone get away with something like that." Replied Winter, after which the two sisters sat at the table and finished eating their breakfast in silence. Once they finished it Winter added "Would you like to practice you semblance or your swordplay against me?"
"I would, but I promised my friends that I would meet up with them for training. Maybe another time." Replied Weiss.
"That's perfectly fine." Said Winter, as she stood up from her seat and gave Weiss a hug while adding "Remember, stay strong and stay safe. No matter what happens."
"Thank you Winter." Said Weiss, as she was released from her hug by Winter. Weiss then left the area to go and prepare herself for the training session with her friends. Leaving Winter to wander around the Beacon grounds on her own.
That was until her interest was caught by Ironwood's ship, she decided to enter it and once she was inside she saw that Ironwood was sleeping on a nearby desk with piles of paper sounding him.
She approached him and gently tugged at the sleeve of his arm, and whispered "Sir? Are you alright?"
Ironwood jolted awake and with a tired tone in his voice he replied "Huh... Winter? What time is it?"
"It's around eight thirty in the morning, what have you been doing?" Asked Winter.
"Important stuff, getting Thomas his stuff back, arranging for transport back to Atlas for our army and some other stuff. Just need to arrange things in Atlas for the Emerald Spears." Replied Ironwood as he let out a yawn.
"Sir, how much sleep did you get last night?" Asked Winter.
"An hour, I think. Probably wasn't consecutive." Said Ironwood.
Winter sighed and pinched the bridge of her nose in annoyance, after which she said "Sir, you can't let this go on. You need to sleep."
"I have to, Oz wasn't too happy with what I had done." Replied Ironwood.
"And you think he'll be happy with you working yourself to the point of exhaustion!" Exclaimed Winter.
"No, but what I do?" Asked Ironwood.
"Send me to Atlas to deal with the prison, I get that the headmaster wants you to make up for what you did. But this isn't the answer, working yourself to the bone to prove yourself isn't the answer. So please, let me do this." Said Winter.
Ironwood thought for a moment, trying to think of a good answer while his mind was in such a tired state. After a bit he replied "Sure, go to Atlas. Thank you for wanting to help me Winter."
"Off course sir, I'll have a talk with the headmaster and get on the first ship to Atlas." Said Winter, as she was about to walk out of the ship only to be stopped by the general who called out to her.
"Winter, thank you for everything. Thank you for disobeying my orders and helping them to stop me. It saved my life, and that of many others. I promise that I won't let any of it happen again, and that I'll change for the better." Said Ironwood.
"Just be sure to get a good rest, sir." Replied Winter, as she then left the ship and made her way to Beacon tower to talk with Ozpin.
Later
After Ozpin had finished his talk with Winter, and approved her idea of going to Atlas to make preparations for sending the Emerald Spears to prison, Ozpin was now waiting in his office for some other people to arrive.
It was then that the elevator opened and doctor Light stepped into the office. "Ah Thomas, take a seat. We have some things to discuss." Greeted Ozpin.
Thomas nodded and then sat down at a seat across from Ozpin, after which he said "Do you have some good news for me?"
"I do, I gave James a stern talking to over his actions and for letting all of that happened. And he has done most of the things I have told him to do, there are still a few things that need to be done but the most important things have been taken care of." Said Ozpin.
"What are you getting at?" Asked Thomas.
"He arranged for you to get your lab back, your license for creating and maintaining robots back and somehow got Jacques off your back. Which means that Rock won't be required to stay here anymore under our supervision. Essentially, you can all go back to Atlas." Said Ozpin.
"Is that so, does Rock get a choice in this?" Asked Thomas.
"Off course, he can make the choice." Replied Ozpin.
"I see, so say that he wants to stay as a part of Beacon would that mean that I would be able to keep my lab here as well? Essentially working from Beacon academy?" Asked Thomas.
"Yes, but ultimately it's his choice. Take as much time as you need to think this over and discuss it with him." Said Ozpin.
"I'll talk to him as soon as possible about this, thank you Oz." Said Doctor Light, as he made his way to the elevator and took it to a lower level. Once he stepped out of the elevator he was immediately met with Doctor Cossack standing in front of him. "Mikhail, were you going to have meeting with the headmaster?"
"No I was looking for you, I wanted to talk to you." Replied Doctor Cossack.
"Is there something wrong?" Asked Thomas.
"Not at all, it's just that I'll be returning to Atlas today. I felt that you needed to know." Replied Doctor Cossack.
"Already, I thought you were going to stick around a bit longer." Said Thomas.
"Normally I would, but my daughter is in Atlas and I kind of disappeared on her when I went missing. So I'm going back to Atlas to explain what happened and help her. She... uhm... still has a few nightmares from time to time from being kidnapped by Wily." Said Doctor Cossack.
"I understand completely." Said Doctor Light.
"But that's not the only reason why I wanted to talk to you... I heard that you had gotten your license back, and I wanted to know if I could have you look at one of my robots." Said Doctor Cossack.
"Sure, is there something wrong with it?" Asked Doctor Light.
"Not at, just a check up. He is both an explorer of the frozen regions in Atlas and an ice skater in his free time. I just wanted to make sure that he was functioning properly and nothing is broken." Said Doctor Cossack.
"Understandable, however I really need to talk with Rock right now. Depending on the answer to my question I will give you a location to send your creation to." Said Doctor Light. "It might take some time, I hope you can understand that."
"Oh don't worry, I get it. There is no rush, take all the time you need." Said Doctor Cossack.
"Thank you Mikhail, now if you'll excuse me I need to find my son." Said Thomas, as he walked off in search of Rock.
Earlier at one of the training rooms
About half an hour earlier Team RRWBY and Team JNPR, who were all wearing training gear with the Beacon logo on it, were being led to one of the training rooms by Tai and when they arrived they were met with a half sleeping half drunken Qrow laying on the ground.
"Oh, so that's where Uncle Qrow went." Noted Ruby, who grabbed her special plant from her bag and held it under Qrow's nose. The strong smell of the plant was able to wake him from his half drunk half sleeping state and made him stand up straight.
"Qrow, you promised you wouldn't drink too much." Complained Tai, with an annoyed look on his face.
"I didn't drink that much, besides I'm here now." Replied Qrow.
"Well in that case, why don't you start the training wise guy. Start training Jaune and his team, I'll help the others. Try not to have too much of a blast." Joked tai.
Qrow and most of the people in the room groaned in annoyance, and so the group was divided for the training session. Firstly Qrow and Jaune held a small duel, just so that Qrow could get an idea of what he was working with. And while the two were fighting he noticed that Jaune wasn't holding back in his strikes, and that his footing was quite decent. He noticed that there was no hesitation in the fight between the two. So Qrow saw that Jaune had gotten some decent training from Pyrrha, and as such he decided to try something out.
He used harbinger to charged at Jaune at high speeds, to the point that he wouldn't be able to reflect. But Jaune saw this happening and so he channeled his aura into his shield to try and deflect the attack. The plan worked and Jaune was able to deflect Qrow away from him, but felt a bit of stinging pain in his side.
Qrow saw this, though for a moment and said "Hold up, one moment. You three, attack your leader, leader do what you just did by trying to deflect their attacks."
Jaune and NPR looked at each other in confusion, but simply nodded. So Nora fired two grenades from her weapon, why collided into Jaune's shield and created a smoke screen. The rest of Team NPR then charged at Jaune, with Nora slamming her hammer towards Jaune, Ren using his weapon to fire several shots at Jaune and Pyrrha threw her spear and shield towards him. Jaune did what he was told and channeled his aura into his shield to deflect the incoming attacks, which worked. Only for the stinging in his side to get significantly worse for him.
Qrow saw this and said "Ok time out, I see the problem. You're relying too much on your semblance for combat, even though your semblance should only be used for support and not for offense. Especially with how much of your aura you are wasting in repelling your opponents, I recommend that you infuse your shield with gravity dust to repel incoming attacks. But other than a few mistakes in your footing, there is not much I can say."
"Thank you sir." Replied Jaune.
"That being said, you're not out of the woods yet. You're going to need to focus on controlling your semblance more. Take it from someone who could put others in danger if his semblance were to go out of control, you need to control your output. So I want you to meditate, look deep inside of yourself and really connect with the large amount of aura you have in your body." Said Qrow.
"I will." Said Jaune, who immediately got into a meditating position and began to focus. Soon after the rest of his team joined him in meditating, to which Qrow simply shrugged and decided to also join the small group with meditating.
In the meantime Tai and the members of Team _RWBY were surrounding Ruby, and were all attacking her at once to test out Ruby's reflexes and to see if the temporary loss of her semblance had an affect on her. And so the group was in the middle of a small training session, with Blake and Weiss using their blades to rush at Ruby. Who used the blades on both ends of Crescent Rose to deflect their incoming attacks.
Ruby was able to use her weapon to keep the two at bay, and before Weiss was able to summon glyphs top strike at Ruby, she was hit by Crescent Rose and slammed into a nearby wall. Blake tried to dodge the attack using her shadow clones, only for her to land in the line of fire that Weiss was launched at and then two were slammed into a wall. Rock took this chance to charge up a shot from his buster, but right after he fired a charged shot at Ruby she was able to slice through the shot and managed to also launch Rock into a nearby wall.
She then had to dodge as Yang fired several shot from her gauntlets, and when she couldn't dodge them anymore she started to spin Crescent Rose at rapid speeds to deflect the shots fired at her. When she saw an opening, she threw the still spinning Crescent Rose at Yang who got hit multiple times and was then launched into a wall. But this caused Ruby to become unable to grab her weapon, which led to Tai charging in and beginning to spar with Ruby.
Tai delivered several light jabs towards Ruby, who was able to dodge them but for the ones she couldn't dodge she used her arms to block the punches. There was an opening created for Ruby, who took that chance and delivered several punches to Tai's torso. She quickly moved backwards to avoid getting kicked by Tai in retaliation, so she slid backwards and tried to deliver a sweeping kick to Tai. But due to the strength of his legs, it only hurt her more.
Tai saw this and said "Ok, that's enough. I think I have seen enough. Good fight all of you, Ruby despite what happened to your semblance you still have you agility and can still handle your weapon. That being said, you need to work on getting stronger."
"Finally, I have been saying that to her for a while now. She needs to work on making her muscles stronger." Said Yang. "But no, she said she will always have her semblance to rely on."
"Yang, that's mean." Whined Ruby.
"She is right though, I think all of us would benefit from getting stronger." Said Blake, as she eyed Rock and added "All of us."
"Wait, what? You want me to join you in lifting weights, but I'm a robot. How would that even work?" Asked Rock.
"You can eat food right?" Asked Weiss, to which Rock nodded "Then you should be human enough to lift weights with us."
"I don't need to do this, I once held up an entire tower. I don't need to do this!" Exclaimed Rock.
"How long did you hold up that tower?" Asked Yang.
"About five seconds before Proto showed up and saved us... and I should not have said that." Replied Rock.
"Yeah you really shouldn't." Said Yang, as she pushed a button on a wall which opened up the floor and revealed several machines that were used to train different muscles located in the body.
"Wait a minute, isn't that the work out you and Nora usually do?" Asked Weiss, adressing Yang.
"Yup."
"Don't you usually have trouble walking after that workout?" Asked Blake.
"Yup."
"Didn't Nora put Team JNPR through that and cause Jaune and Ren to be unable to walk for a week and Pyrrha to be sore for a week?" Asked Ruby.
"Yup, and you know what? Let's get everyone involved as well." Said Yang, who then turned to Nora and added "Nora, start operation break a leg."
Nora opened her eyes while meditating and said "Gladly."
"God dammit Yang." Muttered Rock.
One intense workout later
"I can't feel my legs!" Exclaimed Qrow.
"I can't feel my arms!" Exclaimed Ruby.
"I can't feel anything!" Exclaimed Jaune, who then looked at Pyrrha doing some stretches and muttered "Never mind, I do feel something."
"Oh god that was brutal." Said Blake, as she tried to hold onto a wall.
Tai, while doing some stretches, added "Not bad, it certainly makes our workouts from our Beacon days look like child's play."
Rock was moving his arms and legs around to avoid his joints from locking up, after which he said "How do you two do this every week?"
"Lots of practice." Said Nora, as she shook the ground with a simple stomp which knocked Ren over as he was trying to keep balance as an extra exercise after the weights lifting.
"Nora, calm your excitement please." Pleaded Ren.
"Sorry Renny." Replied Nora.
"How are your legs Weiss?" Asked Yang.
"Not too bad, my combat style involves ice skating on glyphs so this should be fine." Replied Weiss.
"In that case, can you maybe make some stone structures and targets with your weapon?" Asked Rock.
"Why?" Asked Weiss.
"I feel like testing out all of my weapons while you guys take a break." Replied Rock.
"Sure, I can do that." Replied was as she stuck her rapier into the ground and used the earth dust in it to create a several stone pillars with stone spikes sticking out of them. She then turned to Rock and said "Go right ahead."
"Thank you." Said Rock, who then attached the hard drive with his weapon data to his arm and didn't take it off.
"Wait, are you not going to take it off?" Asked Yang.
"Nope, if I stay attached to it I won't go crazy cause I won't download all of the weapon data into me." Replied Rock.
Rock then readied himself, and the first thing he shot out was the rolling cutter which he fired at one of the spikes on the stone pillars, which then fell off and fell to the ground. The super arm was then used to pick it up from the ground and throw the spike against a nearby pillar, after which several hyper bombs were thrown to the rubble which was turned into smaller pieces of rubble by the bombs exploding.
After that Rock fired fired the thunder beam, and the three beams of electricity were able to hit their targets. He then used both the bubble lead, search snake, plug ball and hornet chaser right after each other to hit several stone spikes on the pillars. The impact from those weapons caused the stone spikes to come loose and gave Rock the opportunity to use the air shooter on the spikes, the air coming out of his buster kept the spikes in the air. So he used the quick boomerang to cut the stone to pieces.
"Wait, where did you get those boomerangs from?" Asked Ruby.
"Quick Man, that's the weapon you get from him." Replied Rock.
"Seriously, I had to race him all over Vale and all you get from him are some boomerangs? Not super speed?" Asked Ruby.
"Unfortunately not, though getting super speed would be pretty cool." Replied Rock, who then continued using his weapons as he switched to using his crash bombs, which he fired at one of the pillars and the explosion from those bombs caused the pillar to fall over. It would have nearly crushed Rock, and his teammates would have warned him but he used the time stopper to move out of the way.
He then fired several metal blades at some more targets that were created for him, and the blades were able to cut right through the targets and ended up getting stuck in the wall. He then fired a drill bomb at one of the pillars, the explosion resulted in several chunks of pillar falling to the ground which were taken care of by Rock using the spread drill to drill the chunks of pillar to pieces.
Rock then used the rain flush on one of the pillars, the acidity of that weapon caused damage to the pillar and made it fall over. So he used the flash stopper repeatedly to blast the pillar to pieces with his buster, which to the rest of the group looked like chunks of the pillar were disappearing at record speeds.
"So that's two weapons with the ability to stop time." Noted Qrow.
"There are actually three weapons with that ability, though I haven't run into him yet. See, one of them slows down time. The timer stopper fully stops time, but doesn't allow me to fire just move out of the way. But the flash stopper stops time for a shorter amount of time then the time stopper, but it does allow me to fire my buster." Replied Rock.
"The ability to stop time sounds pretty dangerous." Said Tai.
"It does, but Wily hasn't made another robot with time stopping abilities in years. So I'm sure we'll be fine." Said Rock, who then switched to the magnet missile and launched several magnets at one of the pillars and the impact caused some more chunks to get blown off which Rock cut to pieces by using the sharpness of the ring boomerang on the pieces of the pillar.
The thunder claw was used by Rock to get to the top of one of the pillars, and from up there he used the crystal eye to take out another target. The crystal eye hit its target and split into three smaller ones which were able to hit three different targets. Rock then used the charge kick to slide off the pillar, and while falling down he used the top spin to soften his landing.
"Wait, what's up with your slide? It looked more powerful." Said Yang.
"Yeah, that was the charge kick. A more powerful version of my slide ability." Said Rock.
"That's pretty cool actually, I could see myself using that." Said Yang.
Ruby gave her a confused look and said "You're usually not that into weapons..."
"Would be so cool to slide underneath my opponents and then surprise them with an uppercut to the face." Said Yang.
"...There it is." Said Ruby, with a deadpan tone in her voice.
"Well that's too bad, cause none of you can use my weapons." Said Rock.
"I know, but it would still be super cool." Said Yang, as she was imagining all the pranks she could pull if she could use Rock's weapons.
Rock simply rolled his eyes and then switched to the noise crush and fired it at a nearby wall, it reflected back at Rock and he then fired a more powerful version of the noise crush at another pillar. The more powerful noise crush went through the pillar, and left a hole to form on the other end. But it also caused pieces of the pillar to come falling to the ground. Rock avoided the attacks by using the leaf shield to block the first wave of pillar chunks, then used the star crash to block the second wave of pillar chunks and then used the scorch wheel to incinerate the remaining pieces of the pillar.
However he missed another huge chunk of pillar that came falling towards him, so he used the water shield to block the attack and then spread the remaining bubbles around him to take out some more debris around him. He then switched to the homing sniper, took aim at several targets in front of him and launched several missiles at the targets. The targets were hit by the missiles and turned into smaller pebbles that dropped onto the floor.
Right now there was only one pillar left, so Rock used his last weapon the napalm bomb on it. He dropped several napalm bombs on it and the explosion from the napalm took out the entire pillar and turned it to ash.
Rock turned to the group and said "Welp, that was it." After which he took out the hard drive with all the weapons data and put it in his backpack.
"I will say, some of those weapons look more useful than other weapons." Said Qrow.
"Well, I learned that they can't all be gems." Replied Rock.
"When did you get the last one, that was really powerful." Said Nora.
"I got that one from Napalm man, he attacked me and Ruby during the school dance. And I had to be saved by Yang's moooooooooom... Oh crap, I'm so sorry." Said Rock, who only at the last moment realised what he had said. "I'm sorry, I should not have said that."
There was a bit of silence, with everyone studying Tai's face. After several seconds a smile appeared on his face and he said "Don't worry about it, I have gotten over what happened. I'm not sure how Yang feels, but I'm not holding onto my anger anymore. Maybe one day we'll get answers, but right now I'll just move forward and continue living."
"Yang?" Asked Ruby, who was worried for her sister.
Yang sighed and said "I'm fine, I do want answers one day and I will get them. But right now, I'm fine."
"Glad to hear that." Said Tai, as he hugged Yang.
At that moment Doctor Light walked into the room and said "Oh there you are Rock, I have been searching all over for you. We need to talk."
"Sure, guys could you give us a moment?" Asked Rock.
"Off course, let's go everyone we'll see him in a bit." Said Jaune, after which the entire group left the training room and Rock and Doctor Light were left on their own.
"So is there something wrong dad?" Asked Rock.
"Depends on how you take the news, you see Ozpin arranged some stuff and we are no longer in trouble with the Atlas council. I even have my license back." Said Doctor Light.
"That's great dad, but how could that be bad?" Asked Rock.
"You are going to have to make a choice, since Ozpin said that because of everything that was now arranged you don't have to be under the supervision of Beacon anymore. Essentially, you can leave the school and we can go back to Atlas." Said Doctor Light.
"Wait, I'm confused. Could you explain it to me?" Asked Rock.
"Of course, I'll explain everything to you." Said Doctor Light, as he began to explain everything to his son. Neither of them knowing that Yang was listening in on their conversation, and left as soon as she had heard Doctor Light say that Rock would be free to leave Beacon.
Later
A few minutes later Rock and Doctor Light, after explaining the situation to his son, walked through the Beacon corridors until they found the rest of the group. Rock walked up to them and said "Guys, I have an announcement to make."
To his confusion he was immediately given a hug by Ruby after he said that, he gave her a confused look and she said "I just want you to know that I'm going to miss you."
"Wait, what?"
"It was only a matter of time before this would happen, but I respect your choice." Said Weiss.
"Huh?"
"I'll miss having you as our teammate, but we if we can't change your mind then I'm fine with it." Said Blake.
"Hold on, what?"
"I'm not happy about the choice you're going to make, but just like everything else in life there is nothing I can do about it." Said Yang.
"What is going on?"
"You'll be missed." Said Jaune.
"You gave me a good fight, and are a great fighter." Said Pyrrha.
"You were grumpy at times, but still fun to be around." Said Nora.
"You were always filled with so much emotion, which is strange since you are a robot." Said Ren.
"Ok, everyone... what the hell is going on!" Exclaimed Rock.
"This... is our goodbye. Since you're leaving us." Said Ruby.
"What are you talking about? I'm not going to leave, where did you guys get that idea from!" Exclaimed Rock.
"Yang told us that she heard and you and Doctor Light talk, we assumed that you were planning on leaving." Said Ren.
"Excuse me, what?" Asked Rock.
"I heard him tell you that he was no longer in trouble with the Atlas council, that he got his license back and that you could leave Beacon if you wanted." Said Yang.
"Yang... Did you really think, for a single second, that I would actually choose to leave?" Asked Rock, with a look of disbelief on his face.
"You were enrolled into Beacon against your will, and you didn't seem to like being here that much." Said Weiss.
Rock sighed to calm himself down and then said "Did none of you think that I might have actually grown to like it here, that I actually grew to start enjoying your company and actually began to enjoy being around you guys. I know that you guys went through a lot to get me back, and to think that I would simply leave just because I have been given a choice boggles my mind. I just cannot comprehend why you would think that I would choose to leave my friends behind, Yang."
"You are a lot calmer about this than I thought you would be." Said Jaune.
"Make no mistake, although the way I'm saying this is as calm as possible. On the inside I'm seething with rage." Replied Rock.
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have jumped to conclusions like that." Said Yang, with an apologetic tone in her voice.
"You're right, you shouldn't have. But that's just how you are, you jump in without thinking." Said Rock, as Yang got a shocked look on her face. He then added "Anyways, the announcement I was going to make was that despite Dad getting his license back and me being free to leave Beacon that I decided to stay. Also, dad will be staying at Beacon and so will his lab. I will also be helping at his lab from time to time and you are all free to come in and help whenever you feel like it."
It was then that Rock was about to walk off, but was stopped by Ruby calling out to him "Wait, where are you going?"
"I need to be alone right now." Said Rock.
"That's fine, but I want to visit my mothers grave." Said Ruby.
"When was this decided?" Asked Rock.
"While you were talking to Doctor Light." Said Weiss.
"Ruby wanted us all to with her." Said Blake.
"That's nice, I hope you all enjoy it." Replied Rock.
"Rock, just go with us. Please, you don't have to say anything. But please go with us, it would mean a lot to me." Said Ruby.
Rock sighed for a bit and replied "Fine, I'll do it for you."
"Thank you Rock." Said Ruby, after which the group went back to their rooms to change clothing while also saying goodbye to Doctor Light who went to his lab to make preparations for the new arrangements. After about an hour both Team RRWBY and Team JNPR met up, with Team RRWBY wearing the outfits they wore the night they went to look into the white fang, while Team JNPR wore their old outfits.
They then made their way over to the Beacon airstrip, where they saw Tai and Qrow waiting for them. But to their surprise they saw that multiple ships were being loaded up with Atlesian soldiers and the Ace Ops. All of this was being led by Winter.
Seeing this Weiss said "You guys go ahead, I'll be with you in a bit."
The rest of the group nodded, and entered the bullhead that would take them to Patch. Leaving Weiss with Tai, Qrow and Winter as she approached her sister.
"Winter, are you leaving?" Asked Weiss.
"I'm sorry Weiss, a lot of things have to be handled after what happened. So I'm going to Atlas to deal with them, I hope you're not too upset by that." Replied Winter.
"It's fine, just promise me that you'll stay safe and that we keep in touch more often." Said Weiss.
"I can promise you that." Said Winter, as she hugged Weiss and added "I'll be back before you even realise that I was gone."
"Thank you Winter." Replied Weiss.
"Good luck Weiss, and be sure top support your friend when you get to her mothers grave." Said Winter, to which Weiss nodded and went to the airship that her team went into. She then turned to Qrow and Tai and said "Qrow, I know that we don't like each other that well. But I need to ask you for a favour."
"Sure, what is it?" Asked Qrow.
"I need you and mr Xiao Long..."
"Please, call me Tai. You do outrank us, so calling me Tai is fine." Interrupted Tai.
"I need you and Tai to be there for Weiss, I'm correct in assuming that you two will be sticking around Beacon?" Asked Winter.
"We were planning on doing that, yes. Although we do still have jobs at Signal academy, we will ensure that one of us stays at Beacon at all times." Said Qrow.
"Good, look I need you to be there in case she needs guidance, in case she needs someone to go to for fatherly advice or if she needs help with something. I have seen that coming here has had a great impact on her, making friends has made her better. So if she ever needs help, just be sure that she will be able to go to either one of you for that." Said Winter.
"Don't worry, we'll do that." Said Qrow.
"Thank you Qrow." Replied Winter, who was then approached by ace operative Clover.
"Specialist Schnee, we have loaded the airship and are ready to leave." Said Clover.
"Excellent, we'll ready the ships for takeoff." Said Winter, who then turned to Tai and Qrow and added "I will see you two at a later point in time." After which she saluted the two men and then went into the airship to get ready to leave.
And before Clover could follow her, Qrow called out to him "Hey! Just so you know, the next time we meet and you are still blindly following his orders I'll be sure to kick your ass all over again."
"I'll look forward to that." Clover shot back, after which he entered the airship. While at the same time Qrow and Tai entered the bullhead that would take them to Patch.
On the Island of Patch
On the island of Patch, near the city of Vale, stood a cliff and on that cliff stood a lone gravestone which had roses growing around it. It was peaceful and quiet, that was until a portal opened and a women wearing red with long black hair stepped out, Raven. She looked at the gravestone with a somber look on her face and said "Hello, Summer. I know you probably can't hear this and I most likely won't get a response but I feel like I need to say this."
"You always were a childish fool, too optimistic, would always look at everything with wonder and you would always get on my nerves with your endless joy." Said Raven, as tears were beginning to form on her face.
"And I know that you understand my reasoning for leaving, but I could have easily been lying to you. You always were overly trusting, and..." It was at that moment that the waterworks broke for Raven, and she fell to the ground a sobbing mess while slamming her fist into the ground.
"...You were the best leader anyone could have asked for, always standing up for what was right, being sure to do the right. Even if it would hurt you, but that's just how you are. I would never admit this to anyone else, but I'm glad that you stepped up and took care of them."
"And... and... you know what, screw it. I might never get an answer or I already have the answer. But why! Why did you go after her alone! You could have asked me for help! We could have gone after her together! Why did you go at it alone! I already owed you a favour, you could have easily come and make do on that promise I made you."
"So why... why did you go at it alone?" Whispered Raven, who then sat at the grave in silence while trying to calm down. That was until she heard several voices coming towards the cliff, voices that sounded familiar to her. So she quickly turned into her bird form, and flew into a nearby tree as she watched as her daughter, her former teammates and a group of children made their way to the grave at the cliffs.
And so Raven kept watching as Ruby was the first one to step forward to the grave, and she listened to her saying "Hey mom, I... no we did it. We took him out, he won't be able to harm anyone ever again. I want to thank you for everything, and I hope that you can be proud of what I have managed to accomplish. I know that I haven't visited in a while and that you are watching over us. But I was made team leader, just like you. Really following in your footsteps, I even brought some of my friends with me."
Weiss was the first one to step up and said "Hello Miss Rose, I have only heard things about you in stories that were passed through Beacon and what my teammates have told me about you. But you did a great job raising these two in the little amount of time that you had, and I'm glad to have these two as my teammates."
Blake then walked up to the grave and said "Miss Rose, I just want to thank you for what you have done for the Faunus. Staying behind to save that village even though you didn't have to. You are a hero, and you managed to raise two great teammates."
Weiss and Blake took a step backwards and let Team JNPR speak, Jaune spoke up first "I don't have a whole lot to say, and I don't want to repeat what was already said. But i just hope that you have found peace."
"Maybe you've encountered the people that died in my village, but I'm grateful that you are watching over your loved ones." Said Ren.
"From what I heard you sound like the best mom anyone could ask for, a shame cause I would have loved to meet you." Said Nora.
"I just want to say that I'm happy that Ruby and Yang could have a mother like you, they are some of the greatest friends a girl could ask for." Said Pyrrha.
Team JNPR took a step backwards, and gave Tai and Qrow a chance to say a few words. Qrow was allowed to speak first "Look short stack, I know that wasn't always the nicest towards you and would tease you a lot. But that being said, you were the greatest family member I could ask for and you brought the best out of all of us."
Tai then stepped forwards and said "Hi dear, I'm glad that you are watching over us and I know I didn't do the best job at being a father. Letting my own grief consume me, but I hope you can forgive me for that. I just hope that when we are reunited that we can be a family again." After Tai had said that a gust of wind was felt, and he got a small smile on his face.
Rock then stepped up, looked at the grave stone and said "Thus kindly I scatter, did her semblance have something to do with leaves?"
"She... she could turn into rose petals." Replied Tai.
"That makes sense." Said Rock, who turned to the grave and added "I don't have a lot to say, just that I'm grateful for ensuring that Ruby could return to us. And for making both of them so determined, though one of them can be a bit hotheaded."
Rock then moved away from the grave and joined the rest of the group, allowing Yang to talk to the grave stone. "Hi mom, I know you're watching over us and that you must think of me as hotheaded and stubborn. But I have my friends and teammates to help me when I need them, they'll keep me grounded. So just watch, Ruby and I will be sure to follow in your footsteps. You can be proud of us."
It was then that the group stood at the cliff in silence for a bit, all of them in their own thoughts. After a while Tai looked at the sun in the sky and said "It's getting a bit late, I think we should get back to the house."
"Shouldn't we go back to Beacon?" Asked Rock.
"I arranged with Ozpin that you could all stay at our house, and return to Beacon tomorrow." Replied Tai.
"You want us to help you with cooking?" Asked Ren.
"Nah, it's fine. We'll just order some food." Said Tai, to which the rest of the group nodded.
After that the group walked out of the clearing, not knowing that Raven was looking at them in her bird form, and while they were walking through the forest Ruby, Weiss and Blake noticed that Rock and Yang were walking in different parts of the group.
"Should we maybe do something about that?" Asked Weiss.
"Look, they're mad at each other I think we should let them calm down first." Said Ruby.
"But what if it gets out of hand?" Asked Blake.
"Only then will we take action, but with how calm everything is right now I don't think that will be needed." Said Ruby.
"What if something happens, and they are still on bad terms?" Asked Weiss.
"Relax, we just took care of some maniacal scientist. I'm sure that nothing will go wrong after this." Replied Ruby.
At Beacon
In the dorm room of the students that were infiltrating Beacon Cinder was seething with rage over the fact that she had lost access to the the entirety of Beacons computers and couldn't access the student information anymore.
"I can't believe this! How! How did they find it!" Yelled Cinder.
"Cinder, calm down! You want to attract the attention of the teachers?" Asked Emerald.
"Calm down, you're telling me to calm down. We just lost the main part of our future success in taking out Beacon, and you're telling me to calm down!" Exclaimed Cinder.
"Will you relax, I'm sure that doctor what's his name will make a new one. His name was doctor electricity right?" Asked Mercury.
"Brilliant idea, and how do you suppose we upload a new virus to the tower when there are no events planned that would allow for there to be less security and less eye witnesses?" Asked Cinder.
"I dunno, you're the one who is always so good at coming up with plans." Replied Mercury. "Speaking of which, shouldn't you be telling your boss about this and that you lost Torchwick and the mute girl?"
"All in due time Mercury, I need to think of a plan first." Said Cinder, who then looked out of the window and saw that there were bullheads taking off towards Vale. "I actually have an idea. Since the school is no longer under lockdown, how about a little field trip to the warehousing district in Vale?"
At Salem's kingdom
Later that day in Salem's kingdom, the Queen of the Grimm was in her castle having a discussion with her three followers. With Watts explaining to Salem what he had found "Alright, so after some hacking and some digging I was able to find out what led to the robot invasion."
"Is that so Arthur, why don't you go ahead and tell us." Said Salem.
"Gladly." Said Doctor Watts, who showed several images on his scroll to Salem and began to explain when he showed her a photo of Doctor Merlot "This man here is Doctor Merlot, I found out that about twenty years ago that he made a plan to unite humanity by mutating the Grimm and to stand up against you. He was foiled by some students in their fourth year at Beacon."
"Unfortunately he came back, and employed the help of a group called the Emerald Spears who all hate robots and want to see them wiped out. They were led by one Harvey Greenleaf, but after hacking into the Vale PD I found out that he died and the new leader is Xander Payne who also murdered Mr Greenleaf. Either way, Merlot employed those people to cause chaos in Vale and to keep attention away from himself."
"While doing research I learned that our old friend Albert helped Merlot by giving him his virus, so that several people would play into his hands. Including dear old general Ironwood, which was what allowed Merlot to send these robots all over Remnant. And that's all I found on the situation." Said Watts.
"Hmm, very interesting. It would seem that Wily I a liar and a backstabber." Said Salem.
Tyrian let out a creepy chuckle and asked "You want me to hunt him down my queen?"
"No I will deal with him personally, Watts what is going to happen to those spear people?" Asked Salem.
"They are going to be transported to Atlas for their crimes." Said Watts.
"Very well then, Tyrian I have a different mission for you." Said Salem.
"Yes my queen." Said Tyrian.
"I want you to intercept the prison transport to Atlas and bring the leader here, alive. I don't quite care for what you do with the rest of their little group." Said Salem.
"You want me to go now? Even if it takes weeks before I'm back by your side?" Asked Tyrian
"Yes, now go. Take the stolen airship with you, and don't come back until you have them." Said Salem.
"Yes, my queen." Said Tyrian, as he jumped out of his seat and left the room. A little bit later the sound of an airship taking off was heard.
It was then that Salem turned to Hazel and said as she pointed towards the robotic remains scattered around the room "Hazel, now that I know the origins of these robots I want you to get rid of them."
"Are you sure? You don't want Watts to work on them some more?" Asked Hazel.
"No, I don't want to see them ever again. Now, I want you to go to the Grimm pits and throw the remains into the pits. Am I clear?" Asked Salem, as her eyes started glowing a bright red.
"Yes, yes you are. I'll get right on that." Said Hazel, as he went around the room and picked up all the robot parts. After which he left the room to go and throw the robot parts into the Grimm pits. This left Watts and Salem as the only ones left in the room, Watts was about to speak up when a Seer Grimm floated into the room. It caught Salem's attention and she gave the signal to the Grimm to allow the person on the other end to contact her.
She was slightly surprised to see Cinder's face appear on the Seer, and so she said "Cinder, what a surprise to see you here. Did you come bearing good news?"
"That depends, is Watts with you?" Asked Cinder.
"I'm right here Cinder, is there something wrong?" Asked Watts.
"Yeah, they found and got rid of your virus. So it wasn't as good as you claimed it was, so much for being the best mind in Atlas." Replied Cinder, causing Watts to get an angry look on his face.
"Oh so now it's my virus, tell me Cinder how could they have found it. The virus was supposed to be untraceable, more complex than the entirety of your mind and also more useful than you." Said Watts.
"I'm sorry, would you like to come over to Vale and say that to my face. I would love to burn you to a crisp." Replied Cinder.
"Remind me again, who failed at taking out a maiden again? Oh that's right, you. Who only has half the powers of a maiden, that right you. You are nothing but a failure Cinder." Said Watts.
It was at that moment that Salem had gotten enough of her two underlings and yelled "ENOUGH! Silence, both of you. Cinder I gave you a simple task, stealing the powers of the maiden and you failed. So I gave you a different task, infiltrate Beacon, plant the virus, get the maiden powers and burn it to the ground. To see you fail like that makes me question whether or not you are the right person for the job."
"I'm sorry my queen." Said Cinder, as she bowed in front of the seer.
"I assumed that you were, but I can give you one more chance. Succeed and I'll forgive your previous failures." Said Salem.
"Thank you my queen, I'm nothing without you." Said Cinder.
"Right now you are nothing, you shouldn't even have been born. You are dismissed" Said Salem, as the Seer Grimm turned off and the connection between Salem and Cinder was cut. She then turned to Watts and said "I expect you to make a new and better virus."
"Yes Salem, I'll get right on that." Said Watts, who before leaving the room asked "What will you do?"
"I'm going to have a little talk with our old friend Wily." Replied Salem.
In Vacuo
Wily was hard at work fixing and making improvements to Ra Moon, when he heard a growling noise coming closer to him. Wily assumed that it was a Grimm that had found him, so he quickly hid behind some stones to not get spotted. And after a while he looked over the stones and saw that a seer Grimm had entered the ruins of the old castle and was floating in place.
He hid back behind the stones, but he was already spotted by the Grimm which made its way over to him. When it was in front of him, he saw that Salem's face was projecting on the Seer Grimm and before he could say anything the Seer Grimm's tentacles grabbed onto Wily's throat and began to strangle him.
It was at that point that smoke came out of the Seer, and Wily came face to face with Salem. "Hello Albert, I found out that you betrayed us by helping Merlot. You can understand that I'm not too happy about this."
Wily, while his windpipe was being crushed, replied "I'm... sorry... I... won't... do it... again..."
"No, you won't." Replied Salem, as the Seer began to use more tentacles to strangle Wily who started to turn blue from the lack of oxygen. After a few seconds of that, he was about to pass out. Only for the Seer Grimm to let him go, and Wily to start catching his breath.
"Why did you spare me?" Asked Wily.
"Because I still have use for you Albert, also if I were to kill you I wouldn't have anyone who could convince your robots to work for me. However, you are not forgiven for your betrayal." Said Salem.
"What do you want me to do? Kill Ozpin? Search for another maiden?" Asked Wily.
"No, something much more simple. You see, the only reason you were able to try and take over Remnant so much is because I allowed you. If it were up to me, I would have killed you on your second attempt. But I saw use in you, so I want you to try and take over Remnant again." Said Salem.
"You want me to take over Remnant, but why?" Asked Wily.
"Simple, Cinder messed up and the virus she planted was found. I need you to cause diversion that would allow her to plant a new one, one that would allow her to sneak into the tower and plant the virus without anyone knowing." Said Salem.
"I'm not sure if I can do that." Replied Wily.
"And why is that?" Asked Salem.
"I can't think of a plan on the fly like that, it takes time, planning and effort. I can't think of one right now." Replied Wily.
"Which is why I'm giving you two week at most to try and come up with a plan, how does that sound?" Asked Salem.
"I can do that, thank you for sparing me." Replied Wily.
"Don't thank me, thank yourself for actually being worth keeping alive." Said Salem, who then had the Seer stab one of it's tentacles into the wall near Wily after which she added "But be warned, fail and you die, give up and you die, try to mess with me you die, try to escape from me and you die. Am. I. Clear?"
"Yes, I understand completely." Said Wily, with panic in his voice.
"Good, I'll leave you to it. Remember, you have two weeks." Replied Salem, after which the smoke she was using to project herself vanished and Wily was left alone with the husk of the Seer which soon faded away.
Wily was alone, and he was scared for his life.
A/N: And that's it, volume 3 of this story is done. Now onto volume 4, and I'll just say right of the bat it's going to cover the events of Mega Man 11. Something that I know that a lot of people who read this story have been waiting for, it's something that people asked for when this story started, and I hope I'll be able to deliver. But it will finally happen, and it should be something everyone should be looking forward to.
Now about this arc, I won't lie there were moments where I was struggling to write. Especially with the first half of the arc, and around the mid point I felt like giving up. But I continued and I was able to write this arc and get it done with. I won't lie canon Merlot from the game was a horrible villain, there was nothing that I could find on him to use. So I had to take a lot of creative liberties with him, and his place in the story. But I think I did pretty well in the end, and that's all thats matters. Especially since it got a lot easier to write the chapters as we got further into the arc.
Now, onto the finale of volume 8 of RWBY. I have to say, holy shit that was intense. Like I'm still reeling from what happened, but also pretty pissed at some of the choices made. Seriously, turning Penny human and then killing her off again not even two episodes later. What was the point of that, why do bring her back after four volumes only to kill her again. And whatever train wreck Ironwood was turned into, I vow to not have him turn out like that. And then Team RWBY, Jaune and Neo I hope they're okay in whatever vacation realm they ended up in. But my god, the wait for volume 9 is going to suck. Anyways, thank god for fanfiction right?
