Peggy was walking through the lab with a cup of coffee and two teas, "How are things going?" she asked when she entered.
"It's going fine, Peggy, we have almost solved the deformation issue," Tony said, excitedly.
"We think we have, we have to test it first," Jiaying said, giving Tony a small playful glare.
"Do you think we can reverse the effects on the ones who have already changed?" Peggy asked.
"No, we can't. It is permanent; besides I won't give them too long to live, their own bodies are starting to either give out or eat itself. I really wish you would have come to me before starting to inject people with this," Jiaying said.
Peggy sighed, she knew she probably should have talked with Jiaying, but it was too late now, she just felt bad for the four people who were dying.
"I will take this version to my friend, so he can look at it," Jiaying said.
"Are we talking about your doctor friend or your other friend with that weird power thing?" Tony asked.
Jiaying looked at him, "Okay, for one, Tony, he can see how things work, no matter if it is organic or mechanical, he can also predict if this will fail or not, and two, yes, it is him I will go too," Jiaying scowled at him, Tony put his hands up in surrender.
"Sorry, but it's not like you have told me what to call that power or the man's name," Tony said.
"He doesn't want to label his GIFT with a name, and I respect that. Mine doesn't really have a name either, it is just our gift, you know this Tony. Yes, some of us have named our gift's, but they are the simple ones like teleportation, telepathic and so on. Mine is not just healing either, so I can't just call it that," Jiaying said.
"I'm sorry, Jiaying, I didn't mean it like that," Tony said sincerely.
"I know," Jiaying said, she then went over to Tony and hugged him, he returned the hug.
Peggy had been watching them, not saying anything; their relationship was weird, but their bond was strong. She would never have thought the two of them would be soulmates. Jiaying was a strong leader figure of her people, she hadn't wanted to take the full role as leader, since she wanted a relationship with Tony, and she didn't think she could focus on her duties and Tony at the same time. She was still quite involved with her people, but she had always been very clear that her people and her life outside of them were never to be mixed, that is why she never mentioned any names and was vague when explaining anything about them.
And her and Tony were fine with that, her more so than Tony at the beginning, but he had learned to live with it.
"I'll be back in a few days," Jiaying said, kissing Tony and going to hug Peggy, she then walked out the door.
Jiaying came back four days later, they had agreed to meet at the house in Malibu, when she entered the living room, she saw Tony sitting with Peggy and another woman. Tony looked at ease and almost wrapped around the stranger, "What's going on here?" Jiaying asked, walking further into the room.
"Jiaying! Good, your back, guess who I met?!" Tony said, jumping up and taking the women with him, pulling her closer, grinning at her.
The woman's face turned very red, and she seemed to melt into Tony's touch. Realization hit her hard, this woman was their third. Jiaying took a deep breath, and walked slowly over to Tony and the woman, "I hope he hasn't scared you away, he can be a bit of a child sometimes," Jiaying said.
"Hey, am not!" Tony protested.
"Yes you can," Peggy said from her sitting position, Tony pouted. The woman chuckled.
"No, not at all," the woman said.
"I'm glad, I'm Jiaying," Jiaying said.
"So am I, and my name is Pepper Potts," Pepper said.
They spent the rest of the day together until Pepper had to go.
Jiaying was informed that the seven people who had been given the previous version of the serum were dead, and the families had been informed and been given compensation, disguised as life insurance, thanks to Tony.
Peggy asked Jiaying if her friend was of any help the next morning, "Yes he helped a lot; we had only aimed to have three ranks, the alpha, beta, and omega, but we have made a new one that is in between the beta and omega. They are there to create a balance in the pack, he suggested we call them sigma," Jiaying said.
"How so? What is the difference between the Sigma, Omega, and Beta?" Peggy asked.
"He said that we have too big of a gap between the omega and the beta, that with the new additions we made to the serum, we created the sigma. He also said that the omega would probably keep a low profile, while we have the beta and alpha who will not keep a low profile. He explained that the sigma would question the alpha and beta, and protect the omega; so, the alpha and beta can't just walk all over the omega," Jiaying said.
"Okay so the omega is the one that will follow the rules of the alpha without question, even if they don't agree with it? And the sigma would say they don't like what they are being asked to do?" Tony asked.
"Basically yes, but he said that it wouldn't be that simple. He did advise we don't let the omegas help with changing and training the new ones, he said it would create problems. He didn't give me any specifics, only that it was a bad idea," Jiaying said.
"Okay then we don't let the omegas do that. Now we just have to figure out how we can predict what rank the next ones will have," Peggy said.
"Actually, he said we need a head alpha if we want more than one pack," Jiaying said.
"How do we do that, and who should that be?" Tony asked.
"He gave me this," Jiaying said, handing over a small notebook with instructions.
"Okay that answers one thing, but not the head alpha thing," Peggy said.
"I think it should be you, Peggy," Tony said.
"No, no I am too old for that," Peggy said.
"No, I think Tony is right, you are a good choice," Jiaying said.
In the end Peggy caved and agreed to be the head alpha; Fury was also pleased that it would be someone he trusted who would become the head alpha. What none of them expected was after Peggy's first shift, she looked younger.
Tony and Jiaying had also talked about telling Pepper about what they were working on; they had grown close to her. They had talked with Peggy about it after she had settled into her wolf and "new body", she had told them she didn't mind but that they should do it before they started on the next group of wolves.
Pepper was, not surprisingly, shocked by the news, but after a few days of talking, she was okay with it, especially when she learned that it was voluntary.
They soon began to look for the first alphas, they had decided to begin with three agents: Victoria Hand, a young new agent; James Dalton, an agent with seven years' experience in SHIELD; and Natasha Romanoff, also known as the Black Widow, a new addition to SHIELD.
AN: And thanks to Fun_size_Tasha for betaing.
