Servants of Remnant

Chaldea is gone, but the memories remain. A world, filled with fairy tales, monsters and men. A history unlike any other. Sometimes… a hero is needed. From another world, from another time. Not all of them are great, not all of them are 'good'. But when the world needs a hero, these Servants answer the call. Perhaps only one, perhaps many do. These are the tales of many timelines. The 'Servants of Chaldea' who come to Remnant.

Mozart

There I sat, quiet at the piano… three long years spent waiting. Of course, I had made friends within that time. I looked towards the club floor, this old club in Mantle catered to many… and twas one of a scant few places that served the Faunus kind. This evening however, all was quiet, for the place that had served as my stage was technically closed.

In one hand I grasped a letter, bearing no name of course. The contents of this little piece of paper disturbed me, and had made me think long and hard… ah, what a foolish man I was.

Earlier that day

"Mooozzaaarrrttt! I'm hungry!" the little girl complained. I sighed, and looked towards little Jack, her and Nursery Rhyme sitting at the table together. In the other room, I knew that Sanson was still probably asleep, and Mata Hari was out and about, likely doing her job still. The woman had adapted remarkably well, getting a job at the 'CCT' in Atlas, but the long hours, and of course flight between Mantle and Atlas, meant that she was often away from their little home here in Mantle.

Thus it fell to him to prepare for the two children at the table, and the one still upstairs. "One moment little Jack," I said, snapping my fingers before opening the fridge. There was a yawn as someone walked down the stairs, something I could hear so, so easily of course.

The young boy yawned. "Makin dinner already Amadeus?" Nobukatsu asked, I turned to face him, seeing the Archer hanging over the side of the railing, before he yawned. I could see the static on the TV Sanson had been watching before he had conked out… I frowned, but grabbed the food I had previously prepared out of the fridge.

"Why yes, I would be. Either wake up Chopper or come, take a seat," I offered to him, and Nobukatsu stopped leaning over the railing, walking down the stairs before coming into the kitchen as I turned on the stove. Jack groaned as she lay her head on the table, while Nursery Rhyme was reading a boy she had recently received. The little brother of the demon lord took a seat, rather than wake up Henri, which was fine by me, would rather not deal with a grouchy Sanson if I could help it.

I hummed softly as I began the basics of cooking. Yet occasionally I drifted back towards the television in the other room. "Little Lord, may I ask a question of you?" I asked, Nobukatsu giving a 'huh' of confusion before speaking.

"Uh… sure I guess?" he asked back, unsure of what I could be asking of him.

"Do tell, is the television upstairs on the snow channel as well?" I asked, and he simply shrugged. I hummed, unknown, but perhaps concerning. Slowly I made a decision, I went over to the clock before slowly removing it from the wall. Nobukastu took a deep breath, as Nursery Rhyme looked up, as did Jack, but all three remained silent as I slowly removed the scroll from its little hidden indent in the wall, rehanging up the clock as I went back over to the stove.

I flipped the chicken, before quickly dialing up the scroll. Contained within was the number for direct access to the CCT desk Mata was working at, and he knew her hours. She should still be there, wasn't due to leave for another forty minutes.

It rang twice before she picked it up. "CCT Help Desk, how may I assist you?" Mata Hari's voice came over the line.

"Yes, may I please ask for a twenty-two B form please?" I said calmly through the scroll. There was silence for several moments before she spoke again.

"Are you sure?" she asked, and I took a deep breathe. The code we had come up with meant more that strange things were afoot, at worst, that there was an enemy about. I looked outside the window to the complete lack of falling snow this night. Nothing to actually disturb the signal to the televisions… normally.

"I will be sending them your way just in…" Mozart started quietly before a small letter was shoved through the mall slit in the doorway. He could hear the sound of footsteps walking away from here. "...Expedite that," I finished, hanging up the scroll before tossing it to Nursery Rhyme, the little girl catching it with ease as Nobukatsu got up, adjusting his hat, the only remains of his normal outfit he possessed, and picking it up.

He looked at it once, and I saw the boy go pale. I walked over to him, and quickly took the letter… addressed to my stage name Brian Ignia. "You finish making them dinner, eat, and then take them and go." I told the boy, who quickly ran over to the stove to finish my work. I opened the letter slowly as Sanson snorted behind me, and groaned.

"What's happening?" The assassin questioned as I pulled out the slip of paper, and started reading.

"Dear Ignia… Be at the Falling Snows at Nine PM sharp… or else." Short and simple, yet threatening. No details about this… or else, but the sudden return of the weather channel did not herald good things.

"Really? A threatening letter?" Sanson snarked, but I paid him little heed.

"Charles, I am going to have to ask you to take the children and go to the meeting place." I told him, and he went stiff at that. I never addressed him by name, and he knew it, unless it was with absolute seriousness.

"You are aware this will likely be a trap, yes?" Sanson started, and I nodded.

"That is why I am asking you to take them, and guard them with your life if you must," I pulled out a small key from my pocket, and handed it to him. "Take everything inside, and get going once they finish eating," I said.

Sanson grit his teeth, but for once, he didn't retort. He simply ran upstairs as I folded up the letter. Or note as it was more close to. Sanson came down barely thirty seconds latter, catching several wallets and several guns. He offered me a pistol, and slowly I took the personal protective device. Already loaded, I noted, he went into the kitchen as I hid the pistol inside my suit jacket, likely to hand off the rest of the weapons to the children.

"I will head out first… I'll hopefully see you all again shortly," I said, but Sanson came forth from the kitchen.

"Amadeus don't, we can do this together," Sanson started as I opened the front door… and he suddenly gasped.

I looked at him with a raised brow, before following his gaze… My eyes went wide at the sight of what was stuck to the door. A poster for a concert, being held in a completely different city, a different kingdom even. Vale. But that was not what drew my own, or even Sanson's attention.

No, that honor went to the girl on the poster. A dashing young woman with hair as white as now. Eyes shining like the blue of diamonds. She was wearing a dress of all black, but it was the name, one of great importance to use both. The poster was for a concert, starring the stage beauty… Marie Antoinette. I closed my eyes… because of course she wouldn't have chosen a stage name.

"But… but how?" Sanson questioned as he took down the poster. I could see the tears in his eyes as my own sorrow grew, recalling this same face… the last time we had seen her.

"Guillotine Breaker!" I watched as she rode forth, the crystal horse carrying the queen upon its back. The battlefield was chaos wherever she went.

"Marie!" Sanson called, still locked in a duel with a soldier, struggling greatly as the Olympian tried to take his head. "Marie!"

She ignored the executioner's warning, dartings around soldiers and monsters alike. I had to duck to avoid the oncoming attack from Holmes, who was being controlled by the music from above. The goddess Aphrodite, in all her alien glory. Ritsuka was clutching her head, even as Musashi was closing in on the master. Jason was throwing around orders, and nearly got his head taken off by Gawain, with only D'Eon's intervention saving the Saber's life. It was a mess, a massive chaotic mess where many of Chaldea's number were under thrall, Ritsuka was out of action, Mash was busy fighting soldiers…

And Marie was riding forth, her crystal pony drawing all sorts of attention as she rode for Caligula, the currently sane Servant grabbing her hand as she passed him by, taking him and riding down the street with over a dozen Servants on her tail. I turned to face Holmes, only for Gareth to come charing in, ramming her shield into the ruler's chest, and taking guard over me.

"Requiem!" I ordered, recasting my musical spell. The sounds of opera filling the air once more, my vain attempt to counter the goddess' own music. It was something of a success, but alone it was not enough.

"REQUIEM!" the demonic voice howled, as down the street Salieri, clad in full regalia, twisted into a horrid monster was playing his own song on a summoned piano. At this moment, I was merely supporting the Avenger's own song, providing backup music that was barely allowing some to maintain their sanity. Even I could hear the goddess' will battering at my own.

But before he could contemplate, a panic broke out as lasers rained down from above. Helena threw up a spell shield, which broke, nearly flinging her into me, but a quick save from Gareth prevented that from occurring. Holmes however renewed his assault, attempting to take Helena's head as… something else broke through the music.

The sound of crystal, a shattering of glass. I looked up towards the sky, many did as something flew over the ship that was Aphrodite… a crystal horse, shining against the moonlight, and on its back, a girl unlike any other, a beautiful princess…

"FLUCTICULUS DIANA!" and the howling beast returned to the form of a man. The moon erupted with glowing light, reflected off the crystal horse. Servants that had mere moments before been attempting murder, slowly pulled away, shaking their heads, even Ritsuka stopped her heavy breathing… for a moment I swore I could see smoke escaping from her eyes, but it faded quickly. I was so enraptured by my queen's performance.

The horse landed atop Aphrodite, and slammed down its hooves. Crystal covered the machine's frame before it lept off again, and Marie landed in the street, Caligula hopping off as I looked at her smiling face. But behind her, the glass shattered once more, the crystal shards giving away. She turned, everyone did, as the battleship aligned everything it had pointed at once man.

Marie hopped off her horse, being the only one close to Caligula at all. Raising her hands into the air, "Deploy! Crystal Palace!"

I watched as crystals sprung up once more, Servants all scrambling to assemble. Jason ordered Medea, the elder, to do something, and she took EMIYA and Hercules with her to do whatever it was, Ritsuka shouted for Mash to prepare, even as Caenis ran after Medea.

Lasers and waves began to batter down on the Crystal Palace, rapidly picking up the pace Sanson finally killed the soldier giving him trouble, and rushed towards the Crystal Palace, beating his hands on it in an attempt to enter, even with it under extreme assault.

Achilles suddenly ran by, grabbing me by the arm and throwing me onto his chariot, and then grabbing Sanson as well. Sanson screamed for Marie, even as Achilles took us into the sky. Servants were pulling away from the battlefield, taking to the air. And yet Marie remained, alongside Caligula, inside the Crystal Palace that the goddess of love was dead set on shattering.

Ritsuka ordered everyone to fire upon Aphrodite, Medea flying up and creating magical platforms for Servants to stand on and assault the goddess at her own level. Hercules roared as he jumped up, attempting to remove one of Aphrodite's laser arrays with the swing of a golden axe. I joined the assault, Sanson jumping from platform to platform to preform what medical he could. Yet I noticed something… Aphrodite wasn't even concentrating on them, sure, the waves of sound hurt, but she wasn't firing lasers at them. Even as the Golden Bear rose over the city streets, grasping at Aphrodite, trying to pull her off her course, the target of her assault never changed…

The laser at the bottom of the ship flashed suddenly, and Mozart gasped as Jason ordered someone, anyone, to try and divert the attack. But before anyone could even act… the ship screeched as it fired full blast.

The full might of Aphrodite's Noble Phantasm rammed straight into the Crystal palace. The already heavily battered defenses being ripped away as a pair of forms were flung out of the palace's fading remains. Salieri tried to dive off the magical platforms, Sanson actually did, but I was frozen, watching as Marie stood up slowly, alongside Caligula, and even more lasers fired at them. Sanson was clipped in the shoulder, and he was sent sprawling, but Caligula tried to get away, even with his injuries… someone else pushed him away.

I could only cry as my queen was ripped away, even with a smile on her face towards us all, by the anger of a goddess who only proclaimed love. I barely even noticed when I began falling, and behind me, Aphrodite was blasted with the force of a god slaying weapon… seconds far to late.

The threat had been made clear. Someone was threatening her, even if it wasn't her… I had to be. So I had left alone, leaving Sanson behind to take them to Mata Hari. My great hope was that she was alive, by the stars did I wish it so.

And so here I was, alone at the Falling Snows. I had been here at the club for over two hours now, which had been closed before I had entered. Breaking in had been of little challenge, and carefully I had taken my special place within. If someone wanted me here alone, they would be in for more than just a little show.

I didn't bother to begin performing when the clock struck nine, I simply closed my eyes and listened as footsteps began to resound, ah, from backstage.

I turned by head, and opened my eyes, one hand in my pocket, ready to pull out my baton. I watched as a man walked out from behind the curtains, both of his hands clasped behind his back. His hair was black, and his clothes a dark grey. He took the moment to adjust his tie. "Well… you weren't exactly a hard man to find Ignia," the man started, and I just chuckled.

"Now, now, I might not be a public persona, but I do have a small following. So then," I started, before glaring at the man, who was maintaining quite the distance from me. "What is the reason for this good sir?"

"Now, no need to call me 'good'. But I doubt you've heard of me, even if I've heard of you," the man continued slowly walking around me and off the stage. "You do have a fine taste in fashion, I will admit."

"Only the best for a good performance," I admitted, standing up and looking down at the man as he moved to the center of the club.

"So then… Let's cut to the chase shall we. I went through a good bit of effort to arrange this meeting after all." the man started, and I adjusted my tie. "My employer is very interested in you, Amadeus."

I raised an eyebrow, and thought for several moments. "Well if you know who I am, might I inquire as to you?" I questioned, deciding rather than to deny, to search for information, this man wasn't a Servant, but he was evidently quite dangerous.

"Oh very well… Hmm, actually, I'll give you my first name only," The man smirked, his mustache moving as he did so. "Arthur," he admitted, and I scoffed.

"I assume you think I find that ironic?" I asked, wondering just how fast I could pull out that pistol, and if it would even work here.

"Oh, I don't care if you do, I find it rather amusing however," Arthur stated before looking at the rings on his fingers. "But back to business. My employer has an offer for you, of course… I don't expect you to take it of course," he continued, flexing his fingers.

"Oh come now, might as well hear it," I jested, and the man chuckled at my sarcasm.

"I thought as much. Simply put, she wants you to work for her, but knowing you're a 'hero'," he made air quotes at that, "I doubt that you'll do so, willingly or even otherwise, so I've come up with a different solution," Arthur said, reaching behind him and pulling out a large revolver, one that I quickly counted… huh, twenty rounds, big chamber.

"Well, not unexpected I assume," I admitted, quickly reaching into my suit jacket and pulling out my comparatively dinky pistol, it actually got a chuckle out of Arthur at the sight of it, before he aimed the revolver at me.

"Let's get this over with," he said, before firing, and muttering under his breath, "Nineteen," Ah, so he counted his shots. Well, so could I.

I slipped to the side, avoiding the first bullet and firing one from my own pistol, very poorly aimed, but he attempted to dodge it just in case, ducking backwards as I lept off the stage, kicking a table and using that as cover from the next bullet, "Eighteen."

I poked my head over the table and fired two bullets, both shooting into the wood of another table that Arthur had kicked up himself, but just as I ducked down, the lights went out… all except the one above me, illuminating my presence like a spotlight.

I scoffed before just outright discarding the pistol, sliding it beneath the stage and pulled out my baton. "Lights!" I ordered.

Arthur gasped as he suddenly was illuminated, as was much of the club floor by my sudden spell. I stood up and waved my baton, sparkles illuminating the club, even as the spotlight hung over me. Arthur's attempt at using the darkness to his advantage thwarted, he fired two bullets at me. I ran around the side, swiping twice with my baton. Arthur rolled to avoid first the little comet I flung at him over the top of a table, and then shot a bullet at my magical blast, which collided with it. I had already moved out of the way as the bullet powered through the low level spell easily, slamming into the wall behind me, he was at fifteen shots left.

"Cresendo!" I chanted, pointing my baton towards Arthur's cover, firing a larger magical blast towards it. It impacted the table and blew it away, Arthur being flung back, but recovering quickly as he rolled off a table. He quickly fired off another shot, but I ran around, quickly waving my baton at a table and throwing it towards the man with a quick levitation spell. My magic might have been… unimpressive, but it was enough to buy me time and well… he only had so many bullets.

A bullet suddenly impacted my waist. I winced, but flung three small comets towards the location the bullet had come from, Arthur rolling out from behind the stage and firing off two more bullets at me. This time I threw up a small barrier, both bullets slamming into the barrier and outright disintegrating on contact. Twelve bullets left in that chamber.

I looked towards the stage in worry, Arthur could have grabbed the gun under it, maybe… actually it was on the other side of the stage, so he physically couldn't so he shouldn't worry about that. I quickly sidestepped another bullet and flung a spell directly at Arthur, who raised his arm, a ring glowing as a barrier sprung up, and blocked my spell. I raised an eyebrow, and so did he as he stood up straight both of us siding up the other. We could both stop each others shots easily then… well.

Rather than give him a chance to raise his gun, I swiped my baton upwards, causing a table to fly up behind Arthur and slam him in the back. My next wave ripped his gun from his hand, and I flung it over to the piano, where it landed inside. A quick slashing spell broke the stick holding up the piano's roof, causing it to come crashing down, sealing the revolver inside for the time being. All of that occurred within seconds, Arthur just standing up as his gun has been removed from his person and locked away. I pointed my baton at him with a smirk, and he did so as well… and snapped his fingers.

Suddenly a nearby window shattered, and an arrow hit me in the shoulder. The green bolt of energy faded quickly as I recognized the shot. One of Atalante's arrows. I ducked down, avoiding the sudden barrage that followed through the window by throwing a table into the window with a spell, and that bought me enough time to get out of the window's view. Arthur scrambled for the piano, but I jumped onto the stage. "Fortissimo!"

Arthur went sprawling as he was flung back from the blast to the chest, but his Aura barely wavered, this man had fire support from a Servant, but he wasn't a mage, or a Master, unless I had severely misjudged him. I looked towards the piano, before quickly swiping my baton upwards, raising it into the air. It hurt to do this to such a beautiful instrument.

Arthur rolled out of the way of the Piano suddenly being flung past him, looking towards it to see the top ripped off, but a sudden click drew his attention. He threw up his arms, a shield up, but the bullet hit him in the torso. I waved his gun in my hand smugly. Ten bullets left.

He ran forward as I jumped backwards, making sure to stay clear of windows, and running into the backstage area. I raised the revolver upwards just as Arthur ran through the door, firing twice, but he blocked both bullets with very quick reactions. "All this just for me? I'm flattered?"

"Oh, there is more where that came from," Arthur said, flicking a finger up, and the ring on it glowing. I heard a door opening, the garage, and quick I swiped my baton downward. There was a sudden crash as the door was forced shut, but I could already hear footsteps rushing towards me.

I fired again at Arthur and pointed my baton towards the door. Arthur blocked the bullet and ran forward just as the new arrival entered, only to get blasted in the head and flung back by the largest blast I could conjure on short notice. I had to start dancing away from Arthur's fists as the person pulled themself up, and ran through the door, only to receive a bullet to the shoulder that pinged off their aura for their trouble.

I quickly noted down their appearance before waving my baton and outright flinging Arthur into them. He was caught, but it allowed me to fire two more bullets at the same time, both of which hit Arthur square in the stomach as he was thrown off the Servant, because I quickly recognized them. The Phantom of the Opera, Erik. Assassin Class, and a servant with much, much higher parameters than I had. Well, only one shot then.

"REQUIEM FOR DEATH!" I ordered, quickly sounding off my Noble Phantasm, rather than going for a full intactation. I knew Phantom's weaknesses, and his strengths as well. So best to knock him out right now. Arthur actually groaned from the music where he stood, while Erik froze. Something I capitalized on. I had four bullets left in Arthur's gun.

BANG! BANG!

I pulled the trigger twice, since I still had to dual shot setting on, and blasted Erik in the head as he was lowering it, his mental corruption not defending him from my musical assault. His aura shattered practically instantly from the four bullets applied directly to his skull, and as he raised his head, he got only one quick look at the tip of my baton. "Decresendo!"

The quickly incanted, but very large magical orb blasted Erik in the face, removing his mask and sending him flying backwards, I quickly swiped my baton again as he was flying backwards, using a car that I saw in the garage and slamming that into him, sending the Phantom of the Opera flying back into the room with me and Arthur. He spun midair in an attempt to right himself, his claws out and ready to tear me to shreds…

"Sorry Erik, but no, I muttered, before throwing up Arthur's gun and snapping my fingers. A small array of musical notes appeared before my baton, and with a final word. "Curtains!"

The purple laser of magical energy ripped right into Erik, who only screeched as he was ripped to shreds. I caught Arthur's gun in my hand as the man stood up, and stared in shock, and horror, at the now rapidly dissipating Phantom of the Opera, golden sparks coming off him as he was fading away. "Oh… she is going to kill me."

"My friend, I think you have bigger concerns," I cautioned, waving his gun before quickly hearing footsteps behind me. I turned, ready to face Atalanta, who had likely just jumped in the window in the main club room. I didn't care I was burning mana fast, I still had more left in me.

I quickly chucked Arthur's revolver at the door… which comically bounced off Atalanta's head as she appeared in the doorway. It clattered to the ground only a second later, and the catgirl looked to Arthur with great annoyance on her face. He merely shrugged, before she turned towards me, and rushed forward.

I ducked under her flying kick, and swiped my baton at Arthur, grabbing him and flinging him in front of me just as Atalanta turned around, already with an arrow up. She huffed, before firing over him, nailing a lightbulb that rained shards of glass on my head. I had to let go of Arthur with my levitation magic to avoid her rushing me, attempting to smack me a few times with her bow, but she caught me in the jaw, sending me sprawling as Arthur dove for his gun, and pointed it my way. I paid the lack of threat no heed.

Of course, already being on the ground Atalanta was on me in an instant, her foot quickly on my back but I rose my baton and fired a quick little spell at her, which just… pinged off her aura, because of course it did. Damn Magic Resistance, and damn Aura too.

"Well, that was way more trouble than it was worth," Arthur complained as Atalanta put her other foot on my arm. I dropped my baton, wincing in pain as Arthur walked up, bent down, and took the baton, waving it with a small smirk.

"Oh bite my ass and lick it clean why don't you?" I muttered, just bouncing my head at the admittedly half hearted insult. I think I fared rather well to be honest.

"She isn't going to be happy about this Watts," Atalanta claimed, and Arthur scoffed. Arthur Watts then? Well, fancy enough name.

"He's the one who got shot, hit with a car, shot twice again, and hit with a Noble Phantasm, and-" Arthur started listing off the humiliation he had performed on Erik, not necessarily in the right order, but Atalanta groaned as she picked me up off the floor.

"Well you're angry aren't you, well, you got me," I complained as Arthur started to rifle through his coat.

"Yes, yes we do," he started, looking at me with a rather smug grin as he held up… a small rod he'd pulled out of his suit, which he then flicked to extend into a cane. "And I thank you for the data… your friends will be just as helpful."

Well, I'd seen enough of the Shinjuku videos to know where this was going, so I just scoffed at Arthur. "Yeah I hope that goes poorly for you, if you all had such trouble with little old me."

"Hmm… Fair enough," Arthur admitted, before jamming the cane straight into my stomach. It was painful, as well as bloody, but neither paid it any mind… if anything they seemed more concerned at my lack of reaction. I simply chuckled as I could feel my Spirit Origin being drained away into the cane.

"A final word… Eine Kliene Nachtmusik." I said, ending off which a chuckle at Arthur's confusion, Atalanta's gasp… and the world going dark…

"Good Luck Charles…"

Sanson

"Because nothing can EVER be simple can it?" he mentally complained as he looked across the platform… Mata Hari would be here shortly, and already there was a problem…

"Sanson?" Nobukatsu asked, and he nodded, trying very, very hard not to look at the source of extreme bloodlust that was coming from nearby. He'd already spotted the man. There was a brown cloak covering him, and for some reason his Anatomy Study skill wasn't getting a read on him… which instantly told him the man was a Faunus of some kind, since he was already aware that they didn't count as 'human'.

"Two more," Jack suddenly whispered, and Sanson grit his teeth as he looked around, the area was… not densely crowded, but it was populated enough that hopefully they wouldn't try anything. He looked towards where Jack was facing.

"You have to be-" he seethed through his teeth, his hands gripped tightly in his pockets as he felt both Servants, and both of them evidently felt them. One female… ok, Jack might be able to do something, the other was a man… who was not trying at all to hide who he was.

Sanson nearly shit himself right then and there at the sight of Cu Chulainn's Altered form, who had his arms crossed, and had his eyes locked directly on him, patiently waiting for something to occur.

If Mata Hari got here, they would still be at an utterly massive disadvantage, so they would have to play it safe… he could feel the sweat dripping down his head as Jack latched onto his leg. Nobukatsu looked up, tapping his foot as they waited for the bullhead to arrive… The bullhead.

He looked at Nobukatsu as they saw the Bullhead flying down from Atlas… that would hopefully be the one Mata was on, but they had to act before that point. Nursery Rhyme was quiet as he looked behind him. The faunus in the coat had stood up, and was moving forward. The area was already almost clear of people at this point… and given there were only a few other people besides themselves, something told him they wouldn't care at all when it came to civilian casualties.

"Jack," Sanson ordered, and quickly, the little girl clinging to his leg looked up at him… before nodding. This was going to be their one shot…

The moment the mist started rolling in, everything went to hell. He turned just in time to summon his sword… which only just barely protected him from being imploded by Gae Bolg as Cu Alter rushed him. He was flung directly back into a wall as Jack vanished. Nobukatsu panicked as the faunus shot forward, rushing for the Caster and the Archer with an insane cackle as his hood came down…

Sanson grit his teeth as he bounced off the wall, flipping over Cu Alter's follow up and smashing his sword into the Berserker's back, not that it did shit. He landed, and then dodged backwards as a floating skull burst through the mist, as did several others. He weaved around them as best he could, that confirmed who the other servant was… Salome.

A pistol shot rang out, but he couldn't see what was happening as the mist was quickly picking up. The impromptu smokescreen was something, but it was all they had defensively. He blocked another strike from Gae Bolg, and was flung backwards for his troubles. He didn't have the mana, or the parameters to keep pace with a berserker on a good day, and Cu Alter was a monster on his worst… today was evidently not 'his worst.'

A sudden scream rang out, and blood suddenly caked the ground. He looked in the direct of the scream as Jack leapt out of the mist, her knives caked in blood as the faunus man was flung backwards by a barrage of magical sparkles, likely from Nursery Rhyme. Ok, so Salome was down… but before he could capitalize on that, Cu Alter burst out of the mist again, and this time he was gored in the stomach.

Sanson spit up blood as someone screamed. "ALICE!" that was Nobukatsu… he looked up at Cu Alter, gritting his teeth… as the Berserker flung him off his spear.

He skid across the ground, but slammed his sword into it, ripping the pistol he had hidden in his pocket out and firing at Cu Alter, which he didn't even bother to dodge. Sanson groaned as the bullets just pinged off the Berserker's Aura… because, of course it did.

Slowly standing up, he dropped the useless gun, putting his hand on his massive wound. Cu Alter looked at him and huffed, before suddenly Jack appeared, flipping over Cu Alter and scratching at his face before jumping backwards, flinging a barrage of knives at Berserker, to absolutely zero effect.

"Sanson! He has Alice!" Nobukatsu shouted in a panic, and Cu Alter suddenly looked towards the noise and rushed off, he only had enough time to hear the gasp… and the choking on blood. Jack rushed off again as he held his hand to his wound, dammit…

Suddenly Nobukatsu came flying out of the mist, and nearly slammed into him, but he grabbed the boy with his bloody hand, examining the gaping chest wound. His own was minor in comparison, so quickly he just poured in mana for a haphazard use of Surgery. Time was not on their side, so the quick patch up would have to do.

Nobukatsu dropped to the ground panting as Jack was flung out of the mist as well, the mist suddenly vanishing as Cu Alter spun his spear, just blowing it all away… Sanson raised his sword, Jack raised her knives, and Nobukatsu pulled up his flintlock… they were going to die here, and Alice had just been taken by that faunus man.

Suddenly… he felt it, he looked up to the stars. Cu Alter seemed to feel something too, looking around as Sanson closed his eyes… well, he had to thank his lucky stars for this… one of Amadeus' spells.

He took a deep breath as Jack tapped her hand to his side, the wound in his stomach healing slightly as he raised his head… and rushed forward. Cu Alter looked towards him stoically, raising his spear and blocking Sanson's swing… and raised an eyebrow at his spear suddenly being pushed back slightly from the force behind it.

He ripped his sword away before swinging sideways. It seemed Cu Alter had at least some wariness to him, given the increased power behind the strike, forcing his spear slightly backwards. One more to go…

But before he could swing, Cu Alter suddenly sniffed the air… and almost seized up. He smelled it too… something alluring. He looked around, seeing Mata Hari standing inside a Bullhead, surprisingly alone, she motioned for him to come, and he broke off, rushing for the Bullhead as Nobukatsu and Jack joined him. As soon as all three of them were in, she slammed the door behind them. "Take off please!" she ordered in a panic.

The evidently charmed pilot at the front obliged, the bullhead lifting off rapidly as Sanson looked outside the window, gritting his teeth as he watched Cu Alter shake off his stupor… but rather than pursue the Berserker just huffed, before rushing off somewhere he couldn't see him. He gave a sigh of relief… before looking at Mata Hari. "Thanks for the save…"

"Where are Alice and Mozart?" she questioned quickly, and Jack spoke up, sniffling.

"Cackling man took Alice…" she said softly, nearly breaking down into tears as Sanson smashing his fist into the metal side of the Bullhead, not even denting it.

"I don't know about Mozart… but if this is how much they put up for us? I… don't have high hopes," Sanson admitted, before sitting down and seething as Jack bent down next to him, helping him with his wound as Nobukatsu sat down as well.

"Actually how did they find us so quickly? They knew where Mozart was going to be, they dragged him there practically. They knew where we were…" he looked towards Mata Hari. "But they didn't know about you Mata,"

She shrugged, before Sanson paused… and then smacked his hand into his forehead. "The scroll! Alice had the scroll!"

"We were tracked…" Nobukatsu muttered, and Mata Hari huffed, suddenly very glad she didn't keep a scroll on her.

Mata Hari closed her eyes, before walking towards the cockpit of the Bullhead, leaving Sanson alone with Nobukatsu and Jack… to wallow in his failure…

Moments later, Mata Hari came back out. "Where to everyone? We have to go somewhere," she said quietly… and Sanson looked down, before pulling out a bloody poster.

"...The Kingdom of Vale." he said softly as Mata came over, and both Jack and Nobukatsu finally looked at what was on the now bloody poster.

It could be another trap… or it could be hope for the future, but one thing was for certain…

Marie Antionette was the only lead they currently had.
