Chapter 41, enjoy!

February 10th

(Julie is 28 weeks pregnant)

Tami came home from work a couple hours later than usual. When she entered her house, she dramatically kicked off her heels and threw her hair into a high ponytail.

"I just spent the last hour and a half helping a boy with a scholarship application due tonight because A, he waited until the last second and B, the counselor has no idea what she is doing," Tami explained, or more like vented. "Julie, we are going to get started on some of these. You will be way too busy after spring break with the baby to deal with them and I am not doing this last second stuff if I can avoid it. It's better to get this stuff done sooner rather than later."

"Ok," Julie answered. Julie's head was spinning to say the least, her mom had barley stepped five feet into the house before starting on her rant.

"So, I have a list of scholarships right here," She said as she handed Julie a paper filled with several different scholarships. Julie looked at the list, which overwhelmed her.

"What?" Tami asked, noticing the look on Julie's face.

"Uh, this is a lot," Julie answered looking up from the front and back page of different scholarships. "I don't even know where to start..."

"Ok, maybe it wasn't the best idea to start by giving you that list. I will pick out the ones I think you should apply for. So start you up a resume," Tami instructed disappearing into her room.

"Jeeze my head is spinning," Julie told Shelley, who was sitting on the couch next to he, as she grabbed the laptop and opened a document.

"Yeah, she kinda came home with all cylinders firing," Shelley responded.

"There was no kinda about it," Julie replied. As she waited for the computer to load, she texted Tim: Help me lol, my mom is in full college prep mode... She started typing on the computer when she received a text from Tim: Oh dang, sorry. I'll be home soon, the shop has been pretty slow today. Recently, Tim had been working after school at Billy's new garage, hoping to make a little extra cash.

"You know what else you could do?" Tami asked, coming down the hallway and back into the living room. There's no telling, Julie thought to herself. "You could make me a list lf colleges you want to apply to," She answered her own question. "Did you ever decide what you wanted to major in?" She asked Julie, referring to an earlier conversation they had had a few weeks prior.

"I think I want to be an english teacher," Julie announced, she had decided that the last time they had this future/college talk. "How is going to college going to work? I can't really live in a dorm with a toddler."

"Well, there are many schools in the Austin area that are less than a 30 minutes drive away," Tami replied. "You could always stay here, or find a house in Dillon that way we would still be able to help out and you could commute to school," Tami suggested, she wanted to support her daughter in every way possible. "And I'm sure Tim will be able to help out, that is why he's living with us right now, right?" Tami asked. Julie nodded and got up from her seat to find a paper and pencil. When she found one, she sat back down and wrote "Julie's Dream Colleges," at the top in her swirly handwriting. She listed off UT Austin and TMU, but those were the only colleges in Austin she knew of. She opened a new tab on the computer she had been using and searched some up. After doing a little research, she added Southwestern - which she learned was the closest college to Dillon - Austin Community College, and a few private colleges.

"You got any ideas yet?" Tami asked a little while later.

"Yeah, I've got a few." She answered, handing her mom the paper. "Do we have to do this now?" Julie asked.

"Well, I know you are just a Junior so it seems a little soon to be doing all this, but you'll be spending your summer taking care of your baby and really college essay's need turned in the first half of your Senior year," Tami answered. "I will take these and find out what all we need for the applications," She added. "You finish adding stuff to your resume, I know you'll need that." Julie huffed and returned to the boring task of typing out her resume. Her phone dinged and she looked down to read the text she had just gotten. I'll be home in 5 :) Tim had texted her. She smiled and returned typing, this time with a little more enthusiasm. Right at five minutes after she had gotten the text, Tim swung the front door open. His hands and shirt were stained with grease from working the past couple of hours at the shop.

"You're punctual," Julie teased him.

"I'm going to go attempt to wash all this off," Tim announced, turning to go down the hallway and into the bathroom. Julie sat the computer on the coffee table and followed him.

"So how was she shop today?" She asked, boosting herself onto the counter.

"Good I guess," He responded un-doing the buttons on his shirt.

"Tell me about it, cause I don't really want to go work on college stuff anymore," Julie replied. Tim chuckled as he pulled his shirt off.

"Well I replaced an engine," He told her as he turned on the water and started trying to scrub the grease off his hands.

"And what was that like?" She asked, brushing a strand of his hair that had fallen into his face behind his ear. He laughed again.

"Is college applications really that boring?"

"Yes Tim, it is that boring," She confirmed. Tim got the grease washed off his hands and Julie retrieved him a clean t-shirt from their room. Together, they went back into the living room.

"You know what else I've been thinking about Julie?" Tami stated from the kitchen where she was cooking supper. "We need to go shopping for baby stuff, you know a car seat, clothes, all that fun stuff." Julie sent Tim a "shoot me now" look.

"You have fun with that," He jokingly whispered to in her ear.

"Maybe we could go this weekend and have some mother-daughter bonding," Tami suggested.

"Yeah sure, whatever," Julie answered undethustically.
