A/N Hey, guys. Welcome back to the forty-third chapter of the You Can Come to Me one-shots and drabbles series focusing on Peter and MJ. First of all, I want to thank some of you guys for your continuing support because this has been my first Spider-Man fanfic that I posted starting back in 2019. Second, I know I promised that I update, but I haven't been able to because of school and I wrap up my final semester next month. And third, writing has been really hectic for me. But anyway, in this forty-third chapter, MJ has nightmares and Peter must figure out a way to help her and put an end to her nightmares. So, here's the forty-third chapter, and here we go.
All of the characters belong to Marvel Cinematic Universe and Stan Lee and Steve Ditko.
Chapter 43: MJ's Nightmares
In modern day Queens in year 2024, all of the New Yorkers go on with their day after getting a good night's sleep, whether if they have good dreams.
Michelle Jones, or as her friends call her MJ, is not one of them.
Ever since the trip to Europe that almost turned into a disaster, she's been having nightmares whether if it's almost getting killed or the fake Elemental attacks.
She felt hesitant on telling Peter about her nightmares because she didn't want to worry him.
One night, sleeping next to Peter, MJ started sweating before she bolted up and screamed, her eyes opened. Peter turns on the lamp beside him as he sat up.
"MJ, are you okay? What's wrong?" he asked.
"Nothing, Peter. Just a bad dream. Go back to sleep," she replied.
"Okay. Good night MJ," said Peter as he turned off the lamp.
MJ laid down and went back to sleep, wanting to forget the nightmare experience.
The next morning, Peter wakes up from a good night's sleep and he glanced over at MJ, who is still sleeping, but he then realized she's been shaking in fear and sweating nonstop.
"MJ? Time to wake up," he said as he gently shook her.
She then woke up and screamed, startling him.
"You okay, MJ?" asked Peter.
MJ shook her head furiously, trembling in fear.
"What happened? What's wrong?" he asked.
"I had a bad dream last night. But it was more of a nightmare," she replied.
Peter wrapped his arms around MJ and he rubbed her shoulder.
"I had a nightmare about the Elementals. They felt so real," she continued.
"No, it's not real. I dealt with them when we were in Europe," he said.
"You don't get it, Peter. Everyone who had seen the Elementals all get killed. Including you," she said.
"Those Elementals were fake. They can't harm you. It's not real. And it never was. Mysterio was the one who staged those fake attacks," said Peter.
"I just want to have a good night's sleep. Is that too much to ask?" said MJ.
Peter continued to rub MJ's shoulders as she buried her head on his shoulder.
"If you continue getting more nightmares, I'm right here if you need me. I promise I will do everything I can to make sure you won't get any more nightmares," he said.
She nodded, hoping that he's right.
The next night turned out to be much more worse than the previous night. Only this time, MJ started having nightmares about the fire monsters attacking the carnival in Prague.
The nightmare ended when she woke up and started shaking in fear. This caught Peter's attention and he quickly woke up before he turned on the table lamp beside him as he sat up.
"MJ? Hey, calm down. Take a deep breath with me. I'm gonna count to three and we'll take the deep breath at the same time," he said.
MJ nodded in fear, not sure when her nightmares will ever stop.
"One, two, three. Deep breath," said Peter as he took a deep breath and MJ followed his instructions and took a deep breath.
"Is that better?" he asked hopefully.
She nodded in reply, still shaking and trembling in fear.
"What's the nightmare about this time?" he asked.
"It's that fake fire monsters that I saw in Prague. It just felt so real," she replied.
Peter wrapped his arm around her shoulder and rubbed it gently, recalling that he had faced against the fire monster alongside Mysterio, before realizing that the Elementals were fake and the attacks had been staged.
"Okay, how about this? I'll wrap my arms around you and see if you can fall asleep properly. I will keep my eyes open and watch you sleep," he suggested.
"Yeah, I love that. That's a good idea," she agreed.
Peter wrapped his arms around MJ as she laid her head on his chest. About fifteen minutes later, she fell asleep and there was no sign of shaking and trembling. MJ slept peacefully in Peter's arms, now having got herself a good night's sleep.
'Crisis averted. No more nightmares, and she can finally get a good night's sleep. Good job, Parker. You did a really good job,' he thought to himself.
Half an hour later, Peter finally falls asleep, after spending a couple of hours hearing MJ muttering and shaking in fear in her sleep and her explanation to him about her recurring nightmares since the day of the fake Elemental attacks.
And that will do it for now. So what did you guys think? Good or bad? I'm really sorry that I had to make you guys wait because I had to come up with an idea on how to make the forty-third chapter as realistic as possible. And is anybody excited for the upcoming Spider-Man third movie No Way Home? They wrapped up filming on the weekend and I'm not sure when the trailer will come. But I'm pretty sure that the trailer's gonna probably come in the summer time. I want to hear what you guys thought of the title No Way Home in the reviews section. And so far, I haven't heard if Charlie Cox will be in No Way Home as Daredevil. If he does appear in No Way Home, then I have high hopes that he will find a way to clear Peter's name after that mid credits scene at the end of Spider-Man Far From Home. And is anyone excited for Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness? Benedict Cumberbatch himself will be in Spider-Man No Way Home as Doctor Strange, taking over the mentor role that were previously played by Iron Man and Nick Fury in Homecoming and Far From Home. I'm sorry. I am just ranting on now because I'm excited for Spider-Man No Way Home. I also want to know what Spider-Man launch game titles you guys loved playing. It can be Marvel's Spider-Man that came out for PlayStation 4 in 2018, or Marvel's Spider-Man Miles Morales that came out for both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. So, let me know what you guys thought of the forty-third chapter in the reviews section. And I think that's pretty much it. Continue to stay safe out there, keep washing your hands, keep checking in with your friends and loved ones, and continue drinking lots of water to stay hydrated.
