chapter 47: No matter what!

now all of the work study students were sitting at a table in the waiting lounge, none of them could say anything, granted both Izumi and Togata showed their resolve that they would save Eri, but the fact that she was currently being drained of her blood by Overhaul filled their hearts and minds with dread and aggravation.

"Izumi Midoriya, I want to apologize."

"huh? for what?"

"you wanted to save Eri, but I stopped you, I should have backed you up, I should have helped save her right then and there." Izumi wanted to protest what he said but knew that would just make him more upset.

"hey! don't beat yourself up over it." instead the one who tried to raise the mood would be Kirishima.

"what that bastard is doing to his own daughter, its messed up and makes me just want to walk up to him and smash his face in! so that's what you should focus on! don't worry about the fact that you didn't save her the first time! save her from the bastard this time! and break his nose while you do it!"

"but we're supposed to be part of the reserve group, we're not supposed to fight unless we absolutely need to."

"ah- I... aw come on Amajiki, I was just trying to lighten the mood."

"your right sorry, now Mirio probably wont smile because of me." Amajiki then started emitting an aura of sadness, Hado then started poking Togata's shoulder.

"Mirio, please smile again." Togata just looked at Hado in shame, he knew that he wasn't doing any good by showing sadness but he couldn't get over how hurt Eri looked and how much in pain she must be right now. Izumi then put her hand on his and looked him in the eyes as he looked at her in confusion.

"Togata, I want to save Eri more than anything, you see when I was in middle school I... I was in a really bad place, and absolutely hated my life." Kirishima, Asui, and Uraraka were now filled with dread, they didn't know how bad Izumi's life was in middle school but from the little bits they did know, it had to have been hell.

"to see a little girl younger than me and experiencing something so much worse than I did makes me sick to my stomach, and I wanted to kill that bastard because of it. I just hated seeing what he did to her and even smiling about it, calming that he was just being a father disciplining his daughter." Izumi then clenched her fists in anger and even started trembling with burning rage, but then she managed to take a breath and calm down.

"but like I said we failed her once, we won't make the same mistake again! Even if all we're doing is being support on the sidelines, lets do our best to be there for Eri!" Izumi sat up and despite still being in her dark form genuinely smiled at Mirio, he at first looked at her in awe but then smiled proudly and then stood up with lots of joy.

"haha! you first years are awesome! and your absolutely right! even if its just a little bit lets do whatever we can to help save Eri and stop that monster from using her ever again!" Mirio then raised his fist in triumph with a proud smile on his face, the sight filled Izumi with joy and she raised her fist as well and smiled brightly as she reverted to her normal form.

"to becoming a better hero! lets do our best as the support group for the Shie Hassaikai raid!"

"ha! haha! yeah! to become a better hero!"

"uh, yes! ahem, to becoming a better hero!" to both Kirishima and Izumi's surprise Asui raised her fist as well she even smiled brightly which made then both blush a little, she's so cute they both thought but then Kirishima looked at Izumi and made a look of disappointment. Izumi then noticed his and pouted at him to which he smiled and looked away.

"uh... to becoming a better hero!" Uraraka wasn't sure what it was all about but she then stood up and raised her fist as well while pouting with determination making her look more cute than determined but they could all see her drive to contribute to the raid as well.

"hey what's that all about?"

"oh its something me and a few students do, its like a vow to show how we are determined to improve ourselves in order to become truly great heroes once we finally go pro."

"hey that's awesome! Lets do it too then! to becoming a better hero!"

"to becoming a better hero!" Hado was quick to join in but then they all turned to Amajiki, who slumped back into depression when he became the center of attention, but after a few seconds he raised his fist despite looking to the ground.

"... to becoming a better hero..."

"well you all seem to be in a good mood, despite was was just discussed in the meeting I mean." they all then turned to see Aizawa walking right towards them.

"oh Mr. Aizawa! how was the meeting."

"for future reference you should refer to me and the other teachers as our hero name when we are out of school, second off it was actually just boring stuff, every hero has been assigned to a certain Shie Hassaikai base to see any activity that might relate to Overhaul, Eri, or the League of Villains, oh and that's another thing you kids won't be allowed to participate in the investigation mission because of the League of Villains possible involvement. its also the reason that you all are most likely going to stay on reserve during this raid."

"don't worry Eraser head, we understand that... wait, most likely? I thought it was a certainty that we would only be the support."

"*sigh* if I'm being honestly its like an agonizing loop, originally if it was just the Shie Hassaikai we pro heroes would be able to do the raid with no issues and rescue Eri without any surprises. but now that we know that the League of Villains are involved its going to be tough and we might have to rely on the support to back us up on the raid, which will give you guys a chance to help. but the fact that the Shie Hassaikai are probably being back up by the League of Villains means that it will be twice or three times as dangerous than anticipated, meanings since you guys are apart of the support group that we may need to rely on, we would essentially be putting student lives in danger in the process.

which is why I can't stress this enough but... don't you kids dare do anything stupid. you still haven't regained my trust which is why I feel the need to beg you all to be responsible on this mission. I won't have to worry about the big three since they can certainly hold their own along side the pros but you kids can be overconfident, emotional, and reckless... some of you more than others. but what I mean is, even thought I don't show it, I actually care about you annoying brats, your my students after all. so please don't force me to talk to your parents about how you died at the Shie Hassaikai raid." Uraraka and Kirishima looked at Aizawa in disappointment, they knew he was trying to show his concern for them but he didn't exactly word it well, Asui on the other hand just looked at him in confusion. Izumi however saw it well and even smiled at Aizawa because of it which actually made Aizawa look at her in confusion and minor fear.

"aw! I know your probably still mad about the Bakugo rescue mission but its really nice to know that you care about us, I honestly never thought I would say this but your the nicest teacher I have ever had." now everyone on at the table, including Aizawa, were now looking at Izumi in concern.

"hm? what? what did I say?"

"... *sigh* Midoriya, is there ever a time where you won't make me worry about your sanity?"

the day after the meeting class resumed as normal for Kirishima, Izumi, Asui, and Uraraka. none of them went back to their respective Work study heroes as they were all busy with the recon missions over Shie Hassaikai. first off it wasn't bad at all, Izumi and the others would just go on with their school work and continue their hero training with little to no worries. Izumi made sure to keep her head held high the entire time as she knew that before long the heroes would eventually narrow down the location of Eri and Overhaul. but after three days passed she stopped smiling as bright and then when a week went by and she stopped smiling all together, time kept going and she would only smile as to give off the impression that she was ok but never because she actually was ok. as time went on she started remembering Eri's face of fear and Overhauls fake acting of a caring father. she would get so mad that she would forget what she was doing and drift off. but then she ended up getting really mad and grabbed a fork and stabbed down pretending to do that to Overhauls face.

"IZUMI!" Izumi then stabbed the fork on the table but then quickly turned to her left to see Iida and Todoroki looking at her in concern while Bakugo looked at her in disappointment.

"uh, sorry I uh, Work study has uh... been really stressful lately."

"... is that why you stabbed your own hand you suicidal psycho." Izumi was now confused and then looked at her hand and sure enough she had stabbed it with the fork. Izumi then pulled the fork out of her hand as if it was no big deal, Iida nearly yelled in horror because of it while Todoroki lost all of his colors. Bakugo on the other hand just sighed because he knew that she was going to heal right away.

"hahaha, sorry about that, I'm really fine though!" Iida was still a little scared but then managed to calm down as Izumi got out her first aid from her back pack and patched her hand. she didn't need it but had to put up the facade since Iida and Todoroki didn't know that.

"ahem Izumi I think its quite obvious that something in work study is bothering you quite a lot." Izumi was shocked and about to protest but Iida raised his hand to stop her.

"you don't have to tell us if for any reason you can't, but even if you can't give us the full story I believe just telling us what you can will make you feel better."

"... *sigh* I just... I feel so conflicted about a decision I made, I mean by not doing anything I was technically following orders but at the same time I could have saved someone from enduring massive amounts of suffering and pain. If I had done something there's a possibility that I would have made things worse but I don't know because I didn't act, I did nothing and... now I just have to wait and see how things play out, while that person I could have saved is probably suffering so much." Izumi then couldn't help but start crying as she turned to her dark form, now Bakugo was showing shame for taking the issue lightly earlier while Iida looked sad to see Izumi this torn because of a decision she made. Izumi then started wiping her tears away furiously.

"I'm sorry, I need to stop being a spoiled brat, real heroes smile to show that things are ok, they don't cry."

"no even heroes cry... I think, well I mean, their still human like the rest of us at the end of the day, so I assume they cry as well."

"just like your old man?" Todoroki then looked at Bakugo a little irritated at first but then he took a deep breath and looked at him with a calm expression.

"probably yes, thought I've never seen him cry I would just assume the most human thing about him is how childish he gets when things don't go his way."

"heh, now that sounds like a show worth seeing but anyways Scar face is right Deku, crying doesn't make you a weakling or some shit like that, but that complaining your doing is. if its got you down so bad that don't try to make up for it by dwelling on the past use that nerdy brain of yours and find a way to save the person you want to save."

"I know that, I failed them once I don't plan on doing it again, but its just, I'm waiting for the heroes to find the person so we can save them but... its just taking so long and their still in that monster's grasp being drained off... their are experiencing a worse hell that I experienced during middle school." Bakugo then looked at Izumi with genuine fear after hearing her say that.

"... fuck." Izumi was now shaking again as she was remembering the look of fear on Eri's face and how she practically gave her back to Overhaul despite her wanting to save Eri. but then Iida put his hand on hers which actually allowed her to calm down a little as she looked at him in confusion.

"I... I will be honest from the details I am aloud to know it doesn't seem like there's a clear answer to properly help this person your trying to save, it seems that all you can do is just wait for the heroes to get their part of the mission done. however thought this might not be the answer your looking for I just have this to say. don't give up." Izumi was now really looking at Iida in confusion.

"let me be clear, your losing hope as time goes on and this person you want to save continues to suffer right? well that loss of hope will lead to depression and that will only lead to the path of giving up which has the worst kind of destination, failure. is that what you desire to do? give up on this person because the hardships of saving them are too much to bare?" Izumi then couldn't help but sit up and slam her fists on the table after hearing Iida say that.

"Hell no! I'll never give up on her! I'll save Eri no matter what!"

"that good keep that up." now Izumi and Iida turned to Todoroki who was now managing to smile brightly.

"don't give up on this Eri you want to save. save her from whatever hell she's trapped in and be her hero." just then those words reminded Izumi of Kota YOU'RE MY HERO! Izumi then reverted back to her normal form and cried a single tear, she was about to wipe it away but then she decided to leave it be.

"yes, I will be her hero and save her form that monster! and don't worry guys I won't break my vow and do anything reckless, I need to be a better hero after all." Izumi then raised her fist and Iida and Todoroki did the same. the three of them then smiled joyfully while Bakugo just stared at them with a bored expression, ugh you guys are lame and cringy as fuck.

"thank you guys, for helping me regain my confidence to save Eri." Iida smiled proudly while Todoroki turned away and blushed Bakugo noticed this and turned to Izumi who seemed to be blushing as well which made him sigh in annoyance.

"you can't marry them both Izumi." Izumi then turned red as a tomato and looked at Bakugo in shock and so did Iida while Todoroki glared at him.

"... what? I thought it was obvious scar face and elite had a crush on Deku here." Izumi then looked at both Iida and Todoroki in shock and the two of them looked back at her, Iida looking scared and blushing while Todoroki was sweating in fear.

"I... uh... I... uhhhh, AAAAAH!" Izumi then used spark and zoomed out of the cafeteria as fast as possible.

"pfft, same old Deku, a complete smart ass for school work and quirks but a total dumb ass for everything else." Bakugo was then about to continue eating his lunch when he noticed Iida glaring at him with disappointment and Todoroki also glaring at him while emitting a large aura of rage.

"... aw shit, not again."

more time passed and still nothing heard from Sir Nighteye or any of the other heroes, but Izumi managed to keep her spirits up that night as she prepared to go to bed. I'm sorry you're having to wait so long Eri but please hold on just a little longer, the pro heroes are going to find you and get you out of the grasp of that monster.

Izumi then fell into her bed to try to sleep and after about an hour she finally slept only for her phone to ring and when she checked it was Sir Nighteye confirming that they managed to narrow down the location and that the raid was going to start soon so they needed to get ready now. it was very late at night but Izumi could not help but feel extremely excited she then got a text from Kirishima.

you got the message right? its go time!

hell yeah!

oh hey the seniors just message me their right outside and want us to meet them. just then Izumi got a similar message from Mirio to come outside, she should have been confused but she instead activated spark and rushed outside to see everyone else. by doing so as she left the front doors she actually tripped and fell on her face.

"ugh..."

"hm, that's a nostalgic sight." Izumi then looked up to see Asui looking down on her with a smile.

"you ok Deku?" Uraraka then showed up and offered her her hand to help her up, Izumi then took it but as she stood up someone quickly wrapped his arm around her neck, as if hugging a long time friend.

"of course she is, Izumi is a badass after all! and that's coming from the second manliest guy in our class!" Kirishima then smiled brightly while Asui and Uraraka looked at him in disappointment. Izumi was about to do the same but then an idea popped in her head and she smirked joyfully.

"who's the first manliest?" Kirishima then blushed, let go of Izumi, and looked away to not show his face.

"uh... you know... Iida? ... probably..." Izumi then laughed a little leaving Uraraka confused but Asui actually laughed a little as well.

"*yawning* ah, hey! you first years ready?" the four of them then turned to see to see the big three all gathered and approaching the class 1-A dorms, Mirio seemed wasn't smiling but Izumi could see that despite that he still had a look of determination. When Mirio stopped in front of them he took a deep breath, pounded his fist to his chest and then managed to smile.

"you guys ready? its time to save Eri!" Izumi eyes sparkled by Mirio's determination she was about to blush but then she quickly shook her head, took a deep breath and then raised her fists in the air in triumph.

"no matter what! we will save you Eri!" Kirishima and Uraraka then cheered right behind Izumi while Asui just raised her fist joyfully, Izumi then saw how Hado was cheering as well while Amajiki just raised his fist but he had a barely noticeable smile but a smile not the less.

since it was close to day already they went ahead and got into their school uniforms and headed out to the location for the briefing before the raid would start. Thought they were tired from waking up too early but with the drive to fight in the Shie Hassaikai raid they all got the adrenaline they needed in order to properly wake up. just like last time as they arrived they were surrounded by the same large amount of heroes.

"alright everyone is here, now then thanks to all of your help we have managed to determine that the location of where the girl Eri is being help captive, its the main Shie Hassaikai base."

"wait what?! seriously?!"

"ugh so we did all that scouting for nothing!"

"not true, we managed to get some vital information about how their organized as well as the abilities of some of their strongest members. with this we know a little more about who were up against and what their capable of. also as luck would have it I even encountered a member of the Shie Hassaikai gang and by using my foresight on him I was able determine that their main base is indeed where Eri is being help captive."

"wha?! so you used your foresight anyways! what about all you said about-" Fat Gum then put his hand on Down Lock's shoulder to shut him up.

"ahem, I think the better question is how you found this Shie Hassaikai member?"

"easy I encountered a strange man at a toy store wanting to buy toys for little girls. I got suspicious and focused my quirk on him, after seeing all the possible futures it all eventually lead to the same thing, him giving the toy to Eri. and of those possible futures I was able to map out the internal map of the Shie Hassaikai base." Bubble girl then started passing out the papers to both the pro heroes and work study students.

"uh why were you at a toy shop?"

"oh that's because I was looking to increase my collection and as if a blessing from god I managed to finally find this." Sir Nighteye then held up a limited edition golden coated All Might bobble head. Izumi's eyes then sparkled in delight and she raised her fist in triumph while mentally cheering for Sir Nighteye for his collection was finally complete.

"now back onto topic, unfortunately in order to have a clear image I had to focus on the sole route of how to find Eri so there's perhaps much more tunnels and rooms within the main base. from what I can tell however is that the main base is underground is the true base for the Shie Hassaikai and that they purposely made the underground area as a maze to keep intruders from finding their way around. which means that the Shie Hassaikai are not only ruthless to achieve their goals but also have most certainly set up their underground base with traps and places to set up ambushes as well.

Though thankfully we've been able to keep our presence form Shie Hassaikai's sight so the chances of them seeing us coming is very low. this is all thanks to the police who have been helping us with the scouting of Shie Hassaikai and will be apart of the raid on the main base. speaking of which regardless of the situation Shie Hassaikai is prepared to fight at a moments notice so even thought we managed to keep our operation covert they will still be prepared to fight us with heavy resistance."

"yeah speaking of which, is there any chance the league of villains will interfere in any way?"

"that's right, even thought the evidence shows that they hate one another there's still a chance we might end up having to fight both organizations."

"not likely from the individual reports of every hero that participated in the reconnaissance mission we have seen absolutely no activity from any members from the league of villains. thought it is correct to assume that the League would have somewhat of a hatred for Shie Hassaikai. so the threat of the League of Villains attacking would not be during the raid but after so although this may be too much to ask but do not relax after the raid is over expect heavy resistance from either remaining Shie Hassaikai member from other bases as well as the League of Villains.

this is raid is going to be like a war zone, despite my foresight things will not go as planned and... people may die. but this is what it take to dismantle Shie Hassaikai, stop thier illegal and horrific drug trafficking's, and save Eri from being their prisoner. as all of you are heroes I ask that none of you give in to fear, remember why you are heroes and put all of your devotion into this raid! as All Might a true symbol of peace once said A true hero always risks themselves to save others!" Izumi was just plainly listening at first but then raised her head and looked directly at Sir Nighteye when she heard him say that. he then looked at her for a split second which actually made her smile a little.

"ugh, Nighteye's being a little dramatic ya think?"

"cut him some slack Lock Down, its actually a pretty good speak if you ask me."

"*sigh* of course its got you hyped up Fat Gum."

"now this brings me to the last part of this meeting." this got everyone's attention as Sir Nighteye stood up.

"thought every hero in the room will be helping in the raid and we will be having the police force on our side as well. but according to my foresight our best chances of success is that the reserve group be disbanded." all of the U.A. students were shocked at this but before any of them could start protesting this decision Sir Nighteye continued.

"instead I ask that the work study students be a part of the hero group in the hero raid and fight along side us in detaining the vast member of Shie Hassaikai."

"What?!"

"Nighteye what the hell?!"

"are you serious?! their just kids!"

"provisional license or not! they are not heroes just yet!"

"what if something happens to them?!"

"exactly! how will you take responsibility?!"

"this is an essential for the best outcome for the future!"

"there you go again with that possible future crap! you realize that you already admit that their are hundreds of other possible futures right?"

"enough you imbeciles!" surprisingly the one to silence everyone was Aizawa, thought everyone was surprised except for the U.A. students.

"I understand you concern to an extent, believe me, I know how exhausting it is to keep these brats out of trouble so that they can live to be heroes. their just kids after all, but the one thing about kids is that their really good for one thing, and that's learning. and as a teacher and a hero I learned that kids do learn when adults teach them but they also learn pretty well from personal experience. I think the greatest example would be the struggles that Izumi Midoriya." Izumi then looked at Aizawa a little surprised that he would acknowledge her so highly, she even smiled at him brightly because of it.

"stop smiling Midoriya, that wasn't praise, your a reckless idiot that has to learn things the hard way." Izumi then looked at Aizawa in a mixture of shock and frustration while she imagined a brick of rejection landing hard on her head.

"anyways here's my point, they may be kids but we need them to eventually grow to heroes, and here we are a bunch of pro heroes who have had years of experience and a raid which can be a good learning experience for any one striving to be a pro heroes."

"learning experience? we are going against a yakuza clan they only care about their code and anyone that threatens that code is dead to them! what are we supposed to do if these kids get hurt?!"

"ugh, there's that stupid question again, I ask you this, are you or are you not heroes?! if you are all actual heroes then you would know how simple that answer is actually quite simple, we pro heroes are going to protect them!"

"obviously Eraser head! but that's not as simple as you may think if anything it complicates things! are we supposed to be raiding the Shie Hassaikai while also worrying about the work study students?! that's just asking for errors and complications!"

"don't be so sure about that, if anything I kinda agree with Eraser head, but in my own way. I agree that their just kids but as one of thier work study heroes I've seen what they are capable of."

"yeah Ryukyu is right, I've also seen Ejiro Kirishima also known as Red Riot hold his own against a villain. a villain who was enhanced with one of Shie Hassaikai's drugs no less, these kids are strong and closer to pros than you all may think. I think as long as we keep them close we'll all be alright! so I agree with Nighteye! let the kids join the Hero team!" more and more heroes were starting to agree with Sir Nighteye's proposal after that and it wasn't long before they all agreed that the work-study.

"good, we all agree then, students of U.A.! as of this moment you will be full fledged members of the hero group in the Shie Hassaikai raid, we will be plunging first into the stronghold right after the police raid force. you will be plunging first into danger but we will be beside you the entire time and protect you if necessary. however do not waver, you now have the responsibility to help stop Shie Hassaikai and rescue Eri. I expect each and every one of you to take this responsibility seriously. do you all understand?" all eyes were now on the U.A. students, Izumi felt heavy at first with all this pressure but she knew that as someone striving to be the next symbol of peace she shouldn't let her fear take over. instead she took a deep breath made a look of determination and then shouted in determination.

"Yes! we will not waver and do our very best to save Eri and stop Shie Hassaikai! you have my word as the striving hero Lemilion!" or at least she would have if Togata hadn't spoken out first. Izumi looked at him surprised but she was actually kind of glad that he answered first, she felt that whatever she said wasn't going to have as much weight as what he said, so instead she just followed up.

"that's right! we won't fail Eri again, as the striving hero Deku I vow to help save her and stop Overhaul!" then Kirishima raised his fists in triumph and yelled a little to show his determination, while Uraraka smiled with similar determination and so did Asui, Hado cheered as well while Amajiki just raised his fist while staring at the floor nervously. despite the fact that they were about to start a raid against a Yakuza clan the room was seemingly filled with unyielding determination, moral wise they were all ready to take on Shie Hassaikai and rescue Eri. so much that no one even noticed the police officers eavesdropping on them.

"hm... its happening a lot sooner than I thought it would, I guess its time to warn the young master."

"no need to concern yourself with it chief, I already let him know and he's telling Overhaul about it now."

"oh, well good then, so you all know the plan."

"of course chief, thought its gonna be hard with the heroes breathing down our necks."

"yeah chief, I mean, we are going against a dangerous Yakuza group I don't think anyone will get suspicious if a few heroes start dying."

"don't even think about it you youngsters, we can't let these damn heroes know we are soldiers of All for One, at least not yet. just stick to the plan and make sure the heroes don't catch you getting it done ok?"

"right of course chief."

"heh, just wait a little long will you, you youngsters? both the young and old master's plans are coming to fruition, and soon the pitiful law system and stupid morality and honor that binds and weakens our society will finally be gone. just be patient, soon anarchy will rule and freedom will no longer be an empty promise."

ugh! another crappy month with too much to do and not enough time to get the things I want to do done. to whoever is still reading my crappy fanfiction I am sorry this shit keeps happening to you, I am just as disappointed in myself as you are at me... actually you're probably more disappointed in me than I am in myself. anyways I really shouldn't be making promises at this point but I can at least guarantee that the Shie Hassaikai raid arc will be over by next month since its not long now, so I should be competent enough to at least do that. but anyways, again I apologize to all you readers and thank you for continuing to read thought if you think my writing is shit and want me to get better then please give me a review and show me how I can improve. besides that thank you to all that have favorite or are following my fanfiction and everyone who's reading it in general.
