Chapter 54- Janet From Another Planet

The Palace delivered all of Myrtle's birthday presents. Myrtle had forgotten all about them because her mind was on Rae and Skye. She lifted a square-shaped gift wrapped in pink paper from amongst the twenty or so presents. The envelope attached to the top said Grandma. She sat down at the couch with it and opened the envelope. Holey Moley, How Old? was written on the front of the card and a mole with glasses sat in a rocking chair with a younger mole blowing into a party horn. Myrtle laughed a little and opened the card to find Skye's handwriting.

Dear Grandma,

I couldn't protect the one you gave me, and I know it's not the same. But maybe we can get out some of our frustrations on this one.

Myrtle smiled sadly with tears in her eyes as she noticed Skye started to write love but scribbled it out. "Oh, sweetheart… you were so afraid of love." She ripped open the gift to find a more modern tabletop Whac-a-Mole inside. "Please oh please let Rae be right… Please still be alive."

"Erica, will you let me drive?" Rae requested when Erica sped through another red light. "At this rate, the cops will pull us over and delay us."

"I don't care about the cops after they wouldn't listen to me! The clock is ticking, and Kendall is still out there thinking I don't care about her."

Rae sighed. "You'll get a second chance. You have to believe that. Then you can show her how much you care about her."

"Except this won't be our second chance. More like our fourth or fifth."

"I have regrets too. Before I found out Skye is my daughter, I said the cruelest things to her. I told her that she's just a sad little girl that waits in bed every night for someone to come in and kiss her goodnight. And the devastating thing is that it's true."

"That's nothing compared to what I've done to Kendall. And all I've done is knowing that she's my daughter."

"I just wish I told her that I love her," Rae said. "And not just the unconditional love I had when she was born. But I love her for her now, even with all of her attitude and flaws. We grew so much closer, and she was really opening up to me. I held back because I was afraid it would scare her, and she'd put up her walls again. Now I fear that it's too late. I'd give anything to trade places with her right now… No. I'd give anything to hold her in my arms again."

"At least you got to a point where you could hold her in your arms and even consider telling her that you love her," Erica said. "Kendall and I will never be like that. At this point I just want her back to safety."

"When I first found out Skye was my daughter, I thought the same thing. I thought we would never get past the hate, but we did. And I bet you and Kendall can too."

As Erica pulled in front of the Alcazar mansion, her phone rang.

"Hello? Rae? Okay…" She handed Rae her phone. "It's for you."

Rae sighed. "Skye's right, I should get a cell phone…" She pressed the phone to her ear. "Hello?"

"Hi Rae, it's Renee. Myrtle told me you're with Erica and gave me her number. Oh honey, I just saw the news. Is there anything I can do?"

"Yes. Turn off the news because it's all lies. Skye is alive and Erica and I are going to find her and Kendall."

There was a pause.

Rae cleared her throat. "I should've called you though. Please hold onto Skye's job. She's so proud of it, but I don't know when she'll be home. It would devastate her if she lost it because of this. Please don't penalize her."

"Rae, I have to admit I'm a little confused."

"Skye is alive," Rae repeated. "And I'm going to find her. Please don't terminate her job."

"Okay, can I meet you so we can talk?"

"I don't have time to talk," Rae said. "Just please, promise me you won't fire her."

"Okay, I promise. I'm a little worried about you though. Please call if you need me for anything."

Mac Scorpio brought Luis Alcazar to the PCPD.

"I think you're just looking for reasons to arrest me," Luis said.

"You shot Manny Ruiz in front of a roomful of witnesses!" Mac said. "What do you expect?" He took him to the backroom for fingerprints.

JR, Jamie, and Colby crept along the side of the building, but when Colby tried to run off, JR picked her up and carried her. JR peeked around the corner and noticed Axel blowing out a ring of smoke, then he looked towards the highway.

"What do we do?" Jamie whispered.

"We need to hail one of those cars." JR sighed and looked at their surroundings. He scooped up a rock and hurled it at the back of Axel's head. He slumped forward a bit, but it didn't knock him out like JR hoped.

Axel turned around and saw them. "How did you get out?"

"Run!" JR shouted.

Jamie took off faster than JR since he was carrying Colby, and Axel trailed behind them.

"Don't make me shoot you!" Axel called out to them.

Jamie reached the road first and waved his arms at the cars, but none stopped.

Axel grabbed onto JR's shoulder but as a van slowed down with the license plate #1 Mom, he let go. JR turned around and kicked him.

"Help us, please!" Jamie cried, then his face lit up. "It's Amanda's mom!"

Janet hopped out of the car and grinned at them. "If it isn't my sweet Amanda's best friends!"

Jamie ran to her side. "Please help us."

"Sorry ma'am," Axel said. "I was just trying to help these lost and confused children find their way home."

Janet's hand went over her mouth. "These children need a home? What a coincidence. Trevor took my sweet little girl away from me, so I need a new little girl." She reached her arms out to Colby, but she held tightly to JR.

"I think if these children just come with me, I can get them home safely," Axel said.

"Please, Mrs. Dillon," JR begged. "Take us home. This man kidnapped us."

Janet's face went rigged. "Kidnapped? This is outrageous."

"And Skye and Kendall and an old lady are trapped in there," JR added.

"These children are confused," Axel said. "They are just hungry, and I need to get them—"

"These children are coming with me!" She pulled out her cell phone. "Or I'm calling the police!"

JR and Jamie piled into the van with Colby.

Axel yanked out his gun and pointed it at her. "Those children aren't going anywhere."

Janet held up her hands and squeezed her eyes shut. "Don't shoot! Don't shoot!" she whined.

"Get out of the car or I'll shoot this woman."

But Janet kicked him in the groin, and he keeled over, so she grabbed the gun from him and hopped into the van and took off.

JR's mouth dropped slightly. "Thank you, Mrs. Dillon, but we need to go back and get Skye!"

Janet scrunched her face. "Skye?" She jolted suddenly and the car swerved at bit as she stared into the rearview mirror. "You again?"

JR and Jamie exchanged a look.

"I did rescue these children and I finally have a little girl again!" she spoke to the mirror. "I'm not going back to get the adults. Yes, I know adult children are complicated, that's why I'm sticking to these ones." Her eyes suddenly filled with tears. "You're wrong! I do deserve to be a mother! I do!"

"Uh, Mrs. Dillon?" JR tried to cut in.

"Shut up! Shut up!" Janet cried. "Saint Natalie isn't the only one deserving to be a mother. I know she's dead!"

"Mrs. Dillon!" JR repeated. "Please… at least take us home."

"Though I don't know if I want the boys," Janet let out a huge groan. "I'd rather dote on my new little princess."

They suddenly saw the Welcome to Port Charles sign.

"I can't go back to Pine Valley," Janet said. "They will see us and take my new little girl away from me." She started to cry really hard. "But she's not my Amanda."

"Mrs. Dillon," JR said. "Please take us home. Then you can go see your Amanda. She talks about you a lot. She loves her mom."

Janet placed a hand over her heart. "Amanda talks about me a lot?"

JR nodded. "Yeah. She's probably missing you."

"She misses me!" She started to sob.

Skye positioned Lila's wheelchair in front of the bed and stood beside her to try and make it not so obvious that the kids were gone.

Kendall walked over to the bars and grinned when Axel walked back in. "Hi Axel… how was your smoke break?"

"How did they escape?"

Kendall's eyes grew wide. "What?"

"I saw them," Axel said. "And I damn near caught them until that crazy lady showed up."

Skye rose to her feet. "Are you saying they got away?"

"Yes." He groaned.

Skye smiled.

"The boss isn't going to be happy about this," Axel said and gritted his teeth. "And neither of you are going to get away with helping them escape."

Skye and Kendall exchanged a look.

"Please Mrs. Dillon…" JR pleaded. "Go home to Amanda. Just let us go."

"Trevor won't let me see my Amanda," Janet said.

"Maybe he will once he knows that you rescued us," JR said. "He'll see that you were a hero and will be a good mom to her."

Janet sat up straighter. "This is true."

"We can even put in a good word," JR added. "How kind you were to us and that you protected us from that man."

She suddenly turned sharply into the PCPD causing the kids to jolt and Colby started crying.

"Oh, the poor dear!" Janet hopped out of the van to check on Colby. She yanked the door open and reached her arms out to her. "Come to Janet."

But JR pulled her onto his lap and opened the other door.

Janet pursed her lips and ran around to the other side of the van and yanked Colby from him causing her to scream. "That's it! Boys out. I am taking my new little girl away from here."

"Wait, no!" JR cried. "Don't take my sister!"

"What's going on here?" A police officer walked over to them and his mouth dropped slightly. "Wait, aren't you—?"

JR and Jamie jumped out of the van and JR took Colby back from Janet.

"You're the Chandler kids and the Martin boy that are missing," the officer said. "Everyone thinks you're dead," he said to JR.

Janet sighed heavily. "Well, I need to get home to my little girl!" She opened the front door, but the officer grabbed her arm.

"Not so fast. You need to come in for some questioning."

"This is ridiculous," Janet said as the officer escorted her and the kids inside. "I'm the hero here."

"Mac, I found the kids," the officer said.

Mac walked over to them. "Good job, Lucky." He looked down at the kids. "Are you guys okay? I want you to go with Lucky while the receptionist calls your parents, okay?"

Lucky took JR, Jamie, and Colby to his office while Mac questioned Janet.
