Habitat: Senkai (the pocket dimensions they make)

Diet: Foods that normal humans eat (they eat little of it), mist (after reaching 500 years of age)

Hermits are former humans who have supernatural abilities through religious methods. Essentially they evolve into become a new type of human in general. They are also one of the few races to have both females and males existing.

They live in Senkai or rather pocket dimensions that are created to prevent demonic energy from coming on over there to corrupt them. As a result, they live normally secluded lives from the Outside World in Senkai. Their homes have a specific path that is needed to access their dimension, but it would always change by the Hermits to make it even more difficult for normal humans and mamanos to find out if it was discovered.

The way for a normal human to become a hermit is dependent on the methods use. As a result, there are different types of hermits which are: Celestials, Xians, and Shikaisen. Although not really of the same race Lunarians and Hermits are similar in nature with the Lunar Capital capable of being accessed through a path that can be easily changed by the former.

Sometimes Hermits do indeed become corrupted by demonic energy but it results in two different ways:

1. Either they become some kind of known type of mamano like a Hermit Inari or a Hermit Nekomata for female Hermits. Though male Hermits would become Hermit Incubi.

2. Either they lose their Hermit status altogether to become a full mamono or full incubi for female and male Hermits respectively. Hermits lose this because they didn't let go of earthly desires, and simply accepted them such as lust.

Hermits while being capable of living for 1000 years of age and perhaps longer can still be killed by normal means. The Kishin, strong true onis that rule over lesser true onis, were to originally assassinate them are fully capable of doing so even now. They did so as they serve the Chief God and killed other beings who go past their lifespan in her name. However, this all changed once Hell allied with the New Demon Lord which caused the kishins to become corrupted and switch sides to the New Demon Lord's side. Now Hermits would be targeted by Kishins in a bid to corrupt the females into mamanos or for the male counterparts incubi and possibly even have them become their husbands.

Back with the old system, a monster eating a Hermit would basically gain the power of a Demon Lord. As a result, the quickest way to become a Demon Lord was to eat a Hermit. But with the new system set by the New Demon Lord Lilith, monsters don't do that anymore. Instead, the mamanos try to corrupt hermits to become either mamanos themselves or turn them into incubi to become their husbands.

It is rumored that Kasen did eat a Hermit to become a Demon Lord but it is unknown if she did so. However, the New Demon Lord Lilith did not eat a hermit to achieve her power.

Hermits are capable of using unique abilities related to them but are known to be very wise and smart which allows them to outsmart other people.

Hermits' looks and clothing varies but they look human for the most part. However, their lack of eating, longevity, youth without old age, and eating mist clearly tells others that they are different from normal humans.
