AN: Enjoy!

For a moment, the room fell eerily, awkwardly silent. Then..

"Don't be ridiculous.." Todd scoffed.

"This woman isn't your Mother, Vivian" Sharon added rather sternly. "You had a Mother.."

"I know" Viv squeezed Wanda's hand a little tighter. "My Mommy will always be my Mommy. That's why I call Wanda Mama instead. I love Mama, and she loves me, and.."

"You can call her whatever you like, girl" said Todd dismissively, "It doesn't change the truth. She is.."

"I'm whatever Viv wants me to be" Wanda cut him off, scooping Viv into her arms.. "She asked me to be her Mama, so I am. I love her exactly as she is, and I'd never want her to be anything else. I won't let either of you break her because she won't fit in the perfect little box you want her too.."

"Aren't you going to say something?" Sharon turned to Vision. "If Virginia was here.."

"If Virginia was here, she'd be a nervous wreck" Vision frowned. "She always was around you two. Always needed to be perfect, and that meant she was always stressed. You blamed me for her life going off track, but it was all you. You pushed her to rebel, you crushed her under the weight of your expectations.."

"You have no right to judge how we raised our daughter.." Todd tried to interrupt again, but Vision was having none of it.

"I do when it affects my daughter. I don't want her to have to go through the stress that Virginia did. I don't want her to feel constantly on edge, or to feel like she has to be absolutely perfect all the time, because nobody is. I don't want her to have to hide her favourite toys, or give up the things she loves because they don't fit with your ideas of what a perfect little girl is.."

"Victor.." Sharon tried, somewhat gentler than Todd, but still with a superior tone in her voice that neither Wanda or Vision appreciated.

"He prefers Vision" Wanda pointed out.

While most of their other lunch guests seemed rather awkward about what was going on, Natasha was watching the proceedings with interest, giving Wanda and Vision a quiet thumbs up.

"I do" Vision nodded, smirking a little when he saw Nat.. "And I love my daughter just as she is. She is the perfect little girl to me, just because she is mine. And Wanda chooses to love Vivian, which in some ways is even more special. She's earned her place in Viv's life. So, Sharon, Todd, I think you have to have a long think about why having a relationship with your Granddaughter is important to you."

"But.."

"I am not finished," Vision frowned. "If you're just hoping for a perfect little clone of Virginia, then you'd best stay away, because that's not who Vivian is, and in anycase, Virginia was never as perfect as you thought. But if you can love her as she is, as Wanda and I do, then maybe you can earn your own spot in Viv's life.."

"Earn a spot?" Todd almost growled. "You're letting that child run all over you, Victor, and it will all come to no good.. Come on, Sharon, we are leaving.."

"That would be best.." Wanda smiled, a forced, sickly sweet smile. "Then maybe we can save the holiday for the rest of our guests."

Todd was going to say something else, but then Natasha cheered, soon followed by Yelena, Scott, and even little Cassie. Todd turned bright red and marched from the house, dragging Sharon with him.

In the time following Todd and Sharon's departure, Wanda carried Viv to her room to give her a moment of quiet, with Vision following close behind them.

"Am I in trouble?" asked Viv nervously, as Wanda gently set her down on her bed.

"No" Vision frowned. "Of course not. Why would you think that, Sweetheart?"

"I talked back to Grandma and Grandpa.. I'm not supposed to talk back to grown ups" said Viv, "And now you and Mama are bringing me to my room.."

"You're not in trouble, Fata dulce" Wanda reassured her.

"Definitely not" Vision agreed. "You weren't talking back, Vivian, you were simply standing up for somebody you love."

"You were very curajos" added Wanda, sitting and pressing a kiss into Viv's soft blonde hair. "That means 'brave'."

"I was?"

"You were. It is very brave for someone as little as you to stand up to adults.." said Vision, drawing them both into his arms. "And it was brave of Wanda, to stand up to your Grandparents.. It made me want to be brave, for both of you. Grandma and Grandpa might be upset for a while, but we all said some things that were important for them to hear. It's up to them if they want to listen..But it's nobody's fault but their own if they don't."

"So.." Wanda smiled, "How about we go get Rocket back out of the closet again, and change you into something more comfortable that you can play in. "Then we can all go have some Pumpkin Pie before Clint and Laura come over with the kids."

"Okay!" Viv's eyes lit up as she rushed over to the closet.

The rest of the day passed much more peacefully. Everyone finished their main meal, followed by pumpkin pie. The children all played together, while the adults chattered, the TV in the background being regularly switched between football and parade highlights. When Natasha and Yelena left, Nat thanked Wanda and Vision for giving her sister a genuine Thanksgiving, complete with family drama.

That night, after they'd tucked Vivian into bed, and were settling down to watch TV for awhile, Vision received a phone call, leaving the room to answer it.

He'd seemed slightly surprised, so Wanda awaited his return, curious. When he came back, he seemed equally surprised.

"Um.. that was Sharon."

"What did she want?" Wanda frowned.

"She said that she'd been thinking, and maybe.." He blinked, seeming a little in shock.

"Yes?"

"She acknowledged that we had some valid points.. And that maybe Viv should skip the New Year's visit this year, give everyone some space to work things out."

"Probably a good idea.." Wanda smiled. "Maybe you, me and Viv could take a trip instead."

"I like that idea very much" Vision grinned, draping his arm around her. "You were brilliant today, did you know that?"

"I was just doing the right thing by Viv.." Wanda blushed.

"Still brilliant. And if I wasn't ninety-nine percent sure that Viv will probably get up sometime tonight, I'd take you to bed and show you exactly how brilliant I think you are."

"Hmm.." Wanda smirked, moving to straddle his lap. "Well, you could always show me the the PG-13 version.."

Vision's grin widened, pulling her closer for a kiss.

"That can be arranged.."
