I don't own Hetalia okay? These are the last few chapters I am posting to kind of wrap these stories up. Now this will be the end of this series but if you want to use any of the characters or ideas for your own go ahead just let me know. Anyway, enough of this A/N, on with the fic!

(from the diary of Elizabeta Edelstein nee Héderváry)
Of the little family group spread over California, that we had met back in New York all those years ago, I am the last of us left. After Alfred had that heart attack a few years ago, he passed just days later. If my Roddy had made it today he'd have been 81, an old coot as one of our grandchildren would say. I am going to be a great grandmother here soon. And seriously they got married a lot like how Chadwick and Maria did. Once he came back from Vietnam he married her. Funny how things go sometimes. And while I never pictured Matthew as fierce, from what I was told of both his and Chadwick's combat records, they both fought hard and fierce for their buddies. Same with my granddaughter's husband who came back from Vietnam, a Marnie who got to some of the worst places. He gets along with Chadwick well and it is Chadwick. I have called him Chad since he married Maria and he does not like that. I am just thankful for the fact they are able to help me out in my old age. Although I remember how their grandfather was with the music they listen to. They are heirs to a great musical legacy, he would always yell when our grandkids played Elvis or the Beatles too loud. To him they were beneath Viva Las Vegas or I Wanna Hold Your Hand. Frankly I know Roderich would hate me for it but I like Sinatra or a little bit of the Rolling Stones. I'm the Rocking Granny as my granddaughter says. So what if it isn't like a woman my age, I've seen enough crap and it's just me now. I will like what I like.
It was rough on our children and grandchildren in the past few years. It was pretty quick, one after another, first Alfred, then Matthew, my Roddy and Natalya last year. I know Chad-no Chadwick must remember he prefers his full name not just "Chad" and Maria have become used to funerals and death since Katy passed. I had grown to know Natalya well through that. I mean we were always kind of friends before that in the bizarre friendship Roderich and Alfred had. I mean those two were very different but he was always willing to help and eventually Roderich found him endearing. It's just too quiet now with both of them gone. Roddy was able to retire from the professional work but he still couldn't play like he used to. Arthritis and pretty bad in his fingers. Doctor said it was a risk from his career. I remember when I first heard one of his compositions on the radio. And with just that. I remember when you could only see music live or if you were lucky to get a poor quality record. Then we got a radio and now I am watching a television with my children and grandchildren. It's a wacky show about a World War 2. We had two of those and are scared of a third between America and the USSR. Glad we got out of Europe when we did. I hate that Maria hides her Hungarian half. She was born here. Doesn't matter that Hungary was absorbed as part of the Warsaw Pact or all that nonsense that people fear about Communism. Not saying it is good but saying they are being nuts. I know Alfred was furious at people who wanted to think him and Natalya poorly because of her origins and kept trying to encourage their children to use their given names than their nicknames. Chadwick didn't have much of a problem with that because his name is as many call "normal" Maria didn't have it as bad as Natalya's children either. Nikolai, Ivan, Anya and Alexei. Even Alfred said they were beautiful himself but they all go by Nick, Fredrick, Anna and Alex in public because of that Red Scare bullcrap. It's insane. I love them still. We've been close for a long time and I have been the one to help them all through their parent's passing despite what the boys saying about being "tough men with combat records" yeah that may be true for them all but losing your parents is never easy on anyone, no matter how tough you are. Which reminds me, little Aerial Ace Alexei Jones needs me to make him one of those weird animals that he was given from his Uncle Ivan for his kids too. I am the sort of grandmother for all our kid's kids. He's got the biggest litter of all the children. Mid 40s and just had one a few years ago. He's got 5 including a pair of twins.
So how was that? Good? Bad? Short? Long? Let me know in a review. This is how I plan to end the story and like I said I am ending the series here with these Anyway, remember to read (well you just did) and to review. Ciao for now,
