Chapter 205

.

Note: I really shouldn't have to tell you where Homer and Bart Simpson are from. This is based on the episode "So it's come to this, a Simpson's clipshow." It also expands a theory first postulated in "Homer the heretic."

.

When Homer woke up he was in the hospital, but not exactly sure what had happenned. Marge, Lisa, Maggie, and even Bart were happy to see him awake again. Dr Hibbert asked him questions.

.

Hibbert: Can you tell me your name?

Homer: Homer J. Simpson.

Hibbert: Do you know what year this is?

Homer: I think it's 2021.

Hibbert: Who's the president?

Homer: Joe Biden.

Hibbert: How old are you?

Homer: 38.

.

The look on Hibbert's face and the look on his family, suggested Homer had gotten some of those questions wrong.

.

Hibbert: It's only 1993, Bill Clinton is our president, and you're only 29. Although given your alcohol abuse and overeating, most people might think you're older than 38. You've also been in a coma for over a month now, thanks to Bart's little prank.

Bart: I am sorry dad.

Homer: You mean shaking my beer can exxcessively? I forgave you for that decades ago.

Hibbert: You really think it's been decades? So how are you only 38?

Homer: I don't know. Bart, Lisa, and Maggie have always been 10, 8, and 1. Come to think of it they celebrated those birthdays many times, yet remained those ages.

Lisa: That doesn't make any sense.

Hibbert: That's a dream for you.

Homer: So wait a minute, Barack Obama was never our president?

Marge: Who.

Homer: What about Donald Trump?

Lisa: That idiot? I sincerely hope not.

Homer: So all that crazy stuff, me being a minor league mascot, Springfield buying that monorail.

Marge: Somehow it happenned.

Homer: So Maggie shooting mr Burns?

Bart: I would have guessed Smithers would be more likely.

Homer: That would have made a lot more sense. It was right after Burns blocked out the sun.

Bart: I can see why Burns is a villain, but that's more like Saturday morning cartoon super-villainy.

Homer: He wasn't all bad. For awhile he was a superhero called Fruit Batman. Speaking of which, are there an excessive number of comic book movies and television shows?

Bart: Not really. I've heard there's going to be a new Superman show coming in the fall, starring Dean Cain and Teri Hatcher. I think that's about it for primetime.

Lisa: That's not suprising. Comic books have their greatest popularity in times of social turmoil. Superman debuted in 1938, when we were still in the middle of the Great Depression, and feared getting involved in a war in Europe. Things today are relatively calm.

Homer: Yeah, things were pretty messed up in my 2021. A plague ran rampant, we were on the verge of another recession, and a mob stormed the Capitol while the president of the United States encouraged it.

Marge: We're all glad you came back to us Homer.

Homer: Me too, but just the same maybe we should warn the government about Osama Bin Laden. So I guess that stuff about an epic superhero movie was just my imagination.

Lisa: I guess so.

Homer: Too bad, it was kind of cool to see so many Marvel and DC heroes together.

Bart: That would be cool.

Lisa: Maybe, but it seems unlikely that those two companies would be able to work together like that.

Homer: I'm pretty sure Disney owned pretty much everything by then. It seemed like they were building towards the end of all those stories.

Bart: That's less likely dad. Even if they could make that movie, or several movies, they won't want it to be the end. They'd keep making movies to keep making money.

Homer: So all of that was just a dream?

Marge: Yes.

Homer: Too bad, I wanted to see the ending.

.

Everything has been Homer Simpson's dream.

.

The end.

.

.

.

.

.

APRIL FOOLS! Sorry for the deception, but given what day it is. Don't worry, this story has not just been any person's dream, and we will get to the final battle eventually.
