I know it's difficult to do modern!sonamy in canon, but what about knuxouge? Could you do that - just sort of bickering and flirting (rouge, I think knuckles flirting would be ooc imo :/ )?

Yeah, it's tough, but really worth while if you can get a very canon scene. It's just hard to really put any 'fluff' like everyone wants in it, cause they mostly just share 'sweet' moments, you know?

Knuxouge is the EASIEST shipping in canon, mostly cause it has a formula. First, the fighting, next, the sudden touching moment, and then the humorous teasing from Rouge and Knuckles being embarrassed or awkward about it, getting mad and yelling again.

So, here you go!

(Who am I to deny the masses? lol! I kinda ship these two, but not as prominently like my OTPs v )

Rouge sat on the Master Emerald, sprawled out a bit as she flicked Knuckle's grass blade in his mouth, as he slept.

She lifted her hand up a moment and grinned, before lowering it back down to wiggle his nose, which made him sneeze and look up. She moved further down and had her head hanging upside down by his own large red head, "About time you woke up."

"…WHAAAAHAHAH!" Knuckles freaked out, scooting away and hitting his head on the Master Emerald, grabbing it quickly, "OW!"

"Hahaha! Clumsy as always, I see." She lifted her head up and crossed her legs over the side of the Master Emerald, tilting her head and looking away, mocking him. "I swear, for a treasure hunter, you really just sleep all day and miss out on all the fun, don't you?"

"Grr… I'm a guardian first and foremost!" He got up, turning to her with a fist raised up, and glaring. "AND WHAT DO THINK YOU'RE DOING HERE?! GET OFF MY MASTER EMERALD!" he flailed his fists around as she elegantly got off at her own leisure, flying around him, and leaning in next to the side of his face.

"Don't you know it's considered rude to yell at a lady? Hmph, no wonder you're still single…" she flew to the side as he blushed, and then shook it off to yell at her again.

"You're no lady! You're a stinky, old bat thief!"

She landed to the ground with her head held high, before her eye twitched at his insult, and she grew furious, turning to him with her hands on her hips, "WHAT. DID YOU JUST SAY TO ME!? Oh, and you're some grape-sucking, lazy, over the top, BUFFOON! You couldn't even tie your own shoes if they had laces!"

Their heads were now right up against each other, as their faces twitched with rage and the insults flew until Rouge finally backed down, "You know what? Forget it. You're just loud and an obnoxious brute. Call me when you get some decency!" she started to fly off, as Knuckles grabbed her ankle.

"I'm a WHAT!? Well, it's no thanks to your snotty attitude! Always barging onto MY island and causing ME trouble!"

"Let go!" She turned her head around, and did her signature spin attack. He was flung to the side, hitting his head, and seeming knocked out when his head twitched down to the side.

"Hmph!" Rouge folded her arms and hovered for a moment, looking away before looking back, "Huh? Knuckles?" he didn't respond. Worry crept unto her face as she flew down and over to him. "Knuckles!" she sat next to him and held his head, revealing the swirls in his eyes. "Oh, Knuckles, come on! Wake up, you stupid lug!" she shook his head, humorously making him make shaking noises as he shook his own head and blinked his eyes.

"Woah, what happened." he looked to over to Rouge. "Oh, yeah. You're here…" he grumbled out.

She looked surprised by his cruel disappointment and lowering his eyelids in annoyance, and pushed him away of her. "Hmph, why do I even bother!" he fell back on the ground, and came back up roaring again.

"Yeah! I often wonder about that myself!.. wait, bother with what?" he blinked his eyes, not knowing what she was talking about.

"Just forget it! Stay brain dead for all I care!" She flew off, as Knuckles rubbed his head, and remembered her holding it when he woke up.

"Oh…Ugh!" He got up, mad at himself and deciding to make things right. "Rouge!"

"Hmm?" Rouge turned around in the air, as Knuckles threw a fruit at her.

"Catch! Gruah!" he was strong enough to have it reach her, as it gently flew up, after losing momentum, and she caught it just fine.

"..Huh?" she looked at it and back at him, smiling.

"Hmm…Heh-ha!" he gave her a thumbs up, as if it was a thank you for being concerned about him.

She smiled, 'Oh'ing at the fact that his strength was shown off just then as he walked away with a proud grin on his face, eyes closed. She held the fruit to the side of her face, sharing the grin and and blowing a kiss as a thank you. Then she flew off, "I should remind myself not to spoil that idiot someday.." she humorously stated to herself.
