Love potions had always been a fascination for Caroline. True, all the movies and romance novels insisted they caused more trouble and never really inspired love, but there was something so tempting about having the power to make anyone want her. Though she would never actually use one, she had been so excited to learn amortentia was on the Potions curriculum for sixth years.

Needless to say, her excitement turned to annoyance when she ended up sharing a table with the Prick Who Must Not Be Named.

"Klaus! Stay on your side, I almost grabbed the blade of your knife."

"You're the one in my space, sweetheart. You also took my share of moonstone, so give me yours."

They were too busy scowling at each other to pay their friends any attention. Kat and Marcel were whispering over their own cauldrons, watching the typical spat with great interest.

"Seriously," Caroline snapped, "how am I supposed to smell my potion with your dumb cologne overpowering everything within six feet of you?"

Dropping the last of his ingredients in, Klaus sneered at her. "Like you can talk. Between your shampoo and your perfume, it's like I'm standing in massive floral garden."

She scoffed. "I'll take that as a compliment, ass."

With an innocent expression, Kat raised her hand. "Professor, we should be able to smell the potions by now, right?"

Professor Bennett walked over to their section, inspecting each cauldron. "I believe you should, they all have the right look. Mr. Mikaelson, yours seems to be a perfect example. Is the scent very powerful for you?"

He opened his mouth to answer, only to get stuck on Caroline's shocked expression as she stared down at her own cauldron, her eyes sliding to his every so often. "I, er…"

Behind their backs, Marcel offered Kat a high five.
