enniec123 asked: Hi, 10 things I hate about you but its klaroline

Klaus held her close, their swaying a beat too slow to keep up with the music filling the ballroom. "I know you only asked me to come for Bekah's sake," he said, his voice soft and lacking the bite of an accusation. When she opened her mouth to deny it - to lie - he just shook his head. "But I'm glad you did."

Blinking, Caroline leaned her head on his shoulder, carefully searching for the right words to convey how right it felt to be there with him. Rebekah had been the one to suggest asking Klaus, her parents refusing to allow her to attend the prom with Stefan unless her brother would be able to keep an eye on her; still, nothing in the plan required actually liking the guy.

And she did. Reluctant double dates turned to stilted study dates, until they accidentally started having fun. Museums and laser tag, terrible movies at the local theater - it was almost easy to forget they used to hate each other. Now, they were dancing, and she really didn't want the night to end.

"I'm glad I did, too," she murmured.

She felt the lightest kiss pressed to her hair. "If she thinks I'm going to let her go to the Salvatore party after, though, I will not be held responsible when Mother finds out."

Shrugging, Caroline smiled up at him. "We held up our end of the bargain, so she only has herself to blame."
