Honestly Duking mistaking Ash for a girl, is just in the good fun that I'm having with this story. As for Serena, it's less her being the dominant one, and more her being the control to Ash's chaos.
Ash lifted himself up, taking a huge yawn.
"Today's the day buddy." Ash said scratching Pikachu's head. "We're going to try the Phenac City Colloseum."
Lifting himself a bit more before rolling over on his back, Ash thought about who he'd use in battle. He needed Charizard and Dragonite to get them to Phenac, but maybe Dracovish would like to fight.
Later in Phenac
"It's so clean." Serena said looking at the city.
"Hey, I like the feel of Pyrite, and our little place there too." Ash said.
"Welcome to the Phenac Colloseum, will you be participating today?" The attendant asked.
"Yeah, my names Ash." Ash said.
"Okay Ash, Justy let us know you'd be coming. What three Pokémon will you be using?" The attendant asked.
"Three? I didn't think I'd need three." Ash admitted.
"We run things a little different than in Pyrite, I'm sorry if that will be a problem." The attendant apologized.
"No problem, I'll register these two, and Pikachu." Ash said placing down two pokeballs.
"No need for that, just fill out the form, and you miss?" The attendant asked, turning to Serena.
"Me? I didn't think I was entering." Serena admitted.
"Justy did reserve one for and I quote "That Ash kids girlfriend."" The attendant said in a mock voice.
"Well if it's reserved, I guess I'll compete." Serena said, grabbing a form.
Round 1 Ash
"Pikachu! Dracovish! I choose you!"
"Politoed! Beedrill! Come on out!"
"Pikachu use Thunderbolt! Dracovish use Dragon Claw!"
"Politoed use Bounce! Beedrill use Twin Needle!"
Pikachu's thunderbolt, still managed to reach, despite Politoed's height, sending the latter crashing into the water around the arena. Meanwhile Beedrill and Dracovish traded blows.
"Politoed use Surf! Beedrill use Outrage!"
"Pikachu! Dracovish! Change partners! Pikachu use Iron Tail! Dracovish you use Bite!"
Pikachu jumped off of Dracovish's head, striking down Beedrill, while Dracovish chased after Politoed.
"Beedrill return! Come on out Gyarados! Both of you use Surf!"
"Pikachu use Discharge!"
Electricity flew through the water, striking down all three water types. Leaving Ash and Pikachu the winners.
"Sorry about that Dracovish." Ash said, returning his Pokémon.
Round 1 Serena
"Delphox! Sylveon! Let's do this!" Serena called out.
"Hariyama! Machamp! Let's show them who's the toughest in the arena."
"Delphox use Psychic! Sylveon use Moon Blast!"
The two powerful attacks destroyed Serena's opponent almost instantaneously.
"I guess I'm the toughest?" Serena half asked as her opponent ran off.
Round 2 Ash
"Pikachu! Dracovish! Let's go!"
"Dusclops! Houndoom! We're up!"
"Pikachu use Thunderbolt! Dracovish use Bite!"
"Dusclops use Shadow Ball! Houndoom use Fire Blast!"
Pikachu's electricity hit the fire blast, the two attacks exploding on each other. Dracovish took the hit from the side, as he bit down on Dusclops.
"Pikachu use Iron Tail! Dracovish use Water Gun!"
"Dusclops use Will o Wisp! Houndoom use Flamethrower!"
Dracovish and Houndooms attacks collided, pushing back and forth. Pikachu struck Dusclops, as it was burned from the strange power.
"Dracovish use Dragon Claw! Pikachu use Thunderbolt!"
"Dusclops use Thunderbolt! Houndoom use Crunch!"
Pikachu and Dusclops fired their attacks at each other, Pikachu's power winning out as he struck down the Dusclops. Dracovish and Houndoom collided, getting locked together.
"Dusclops return! Come on out Maractus! Use Needle Arm! Houndoom use Flamethrower!"
"Pikachu use Thunderbolt! Dracovish use Ice Fang!"
Dracovish quickly switched over to Maractus reconnecting into a locked combat. Pikachu hit Houndoom with his attack, stunning his opponent.
"Houndoom use Crunch! Maractus use Faint Attack!"
"Pikachu use Iron Tail! Dracovish use Water Gun!"
Dracovish shot back Maractus as he was hit by Houndoom. Pikachu swept in and struck down Houndoom, taking it out.
"Houndoom return! Maractus use Needle Arm!"
"Dracovish use Ice Fang! Pikachu use Quick Attack!"
Dracovish chomped down on Maractus, while Pikachu stumbled from the burn.
"Maractus use Pin Missile!"
"Dracovish use Dragon Claw! Pikachu use Thunderbolt!"
Dracovish struck Maractus as Pikachu blew it back, giving Ash the win.
Round 2 Serena
"Delphox! Sylveon! Let's go!"
"Persian! Muk! Come on out!"
"Delphox use Mystical Fire! Sylveon use Swift!"
"Persian use Slash! Muk use Sludge Bomb!"
The Persian easily moved around Delphox's attack striking it hard. Sylveon was hit by Muk's attack as Muk was hit back by Swift.
"Delphox use Psychic! Sylveon use Moonblast!"
"Persian use PayDay! Muk use Body Slam!"
Delphox stopped Muk in midair, lifting it up before dropping them from a height. Sylveon shot a blast as Persian, as coins scattered about.
"Delphox use Psychic! Sylveon use Swift!"
"Persian use Night Slash! Muk use Sludge Bomb!"
Muks attack was stopped by Delphox's psychic, as Sylveon and Persian's attacks hit each other with a double knock out.
"Sylveon return. Pancham come on out! Use Stone Edge! Delphox use Mystical Fire!"
"Persian return! Come on out Marowak and use Bonemerang! Muk use Body Slam!"
The fire was knocked into the floating sludge bombs from the bonemerang setting off a set of explosions. As the smoke cleared Pancham was left standing as the winner.
Round 3 Ash
"Pikachu! Dracovish! I choose you!"
"Squitle! Ivysaur! Let's do this!"
"Pikachu use Thunderbolt! Dracovish use Ice Fang!"
"Squirtle use Waterfall! Ivysaur use Bullet Seed!"
Pikachu and Ivysaur's attacks hit each other, creating a cloud of smoke. As Squirtle shot forward towards Dracovish as they were frozen in the water from Dracovish's attack.
"Squirtle return! Come on out Charizard, and use Flamethrower! Ivysaur us Razor Leaf!"
"Pikachu use Iron Tail! Dracovish use Water Gun!"
Dracovish's water quickly became locked in combat with the Charizard's flames. While Pikachu slammed down on Ivysaur.
"Pikachu use Thunderbolt! Dracovish use Dragon Claw!"
"Charizard use Rock Smash! Ivysaur use Vine Whip!"
Pikachu and Dracovish tag teamed on the Charizard, overpowering it and taking it out. Ivysaur took the momentary victory to ensnare both of them.
"Pikachu use Discharge!" Ash quickly called out.
Electricity flew through the vine, like a lightning rod, knocking out Ivysaur.
Round 3 Serena
"Delphox! Sylveon! I choose you!"
"Blissey! Milotic! Let's give them a show!"
"Delphox use Fire Blast! Sylveon use Swift!"
"Blissey! Milotic! Use Attract!"
As Delphox and Sylveon fired their attacks, hearts surrounded them. Fire Blast hit back Blissey, while Milotic was hit by Swift. The attracts did nothing however.
"Delphox use Psychic! Sylveon use Moonblast!"
"Blissey use Flamethrower! Milotic use Ice Beam!"
Sylveon and Blissey's attacks hit each other creating a cloud of smoke. Delphox's attack sent Milotic crashing into the water.
"Blissey use Water Pulse! Milotic use Hydro Pump!"
"Delphox use Mystical Fire! Sylveon use Protect!"
Sylveon blocked the water type attacks, as Delphox shot off fire.
"Blissey use Flamethrower! Milotic use Ice Beam!"
"Delphox use Flamethrower! Sylveon use Last Resort!"
Delphox's and Blissey's attacks collided with each other, as Sylveon dove at Milotic, hitting it hard. Sylveon came up from the water, Milotic did not.
"Milotic rerun! Steelix I choose you!" Blissey use Psychic! Steelix use Rock Slide!"
"Delphox use Fire Blast! Sylveon use Last Resort!"
Delphox's attack hit the Steelix, before being struck down by the Rock Slide. Sylveon fired at Blissey, but she was struck down by the Psychic.
"Delphox! Sylveon! Return! Come on out Pancham! Use Circle Throw!"
"Blissey use Water Pulse! Steelix use Rock Slide!"
Pancham's smaller size allowed him to maneuver around the attacks, he easily was able to reach Blissey, and throw her into Steelix, knocking out the normal type Pokémon.
"Pancham use Arm Thrust!"
"Steelix use Earthquake!"
Pancham jumped off the ground before landing hit after hit on the large Pokémon.
"Now use Circle Throw!"
Pancham grabbed Steelix by the tail, and surprisingly lifted the large Pokémon, knocking it out when it landed.
Round 4 Ash vs Serena
"I don't want you going easy on me Ash." Serena said, sending out Delphox and Sylveon.
"I wouldn't dream of it." Ash said, as Pikachu ran into the field, and Dracovish came out.
"Pikachu use Iron Tail! Dracovish use Dragon Claw!"
"Delphox use Flamethrower! Sylveon use Swift!"
Sylveon and Pikachu quickly attacked each other, Pikachu's higher speed giving him an edge. Dracovish ran straight through the flames, striking Delphox hard.
"Pikachu use Iron Tail! Dracovish use Water Gun!"
"Delphox use Psychic! Sylveon use Protect!"
Sylveon blocked Pikachu's Iron Tail, but wasn't ready for the second swing of it. Dracovish shot out water at Delphox before the attack was completely stopped.
"Serena's planning on using last resort. I need to stop Sylveon quickly." Ash thought to himself. "Pikachu use Thunderbolt! Dracovish use Dragon Claw!"
"Ash isn't switching around his opponents, i need to do that if I want to win." Serena thought to herself. "Sylveon use Moonblast! Delphox use Flamethrower!"
Dracovish's sudden change in opponent left his move useless as he was struck down by the Moonblast, while Delphox was unprepared for the full power of Pikachu's thunderbolt. A double knockout!
"Delphox return! Come on out Pancham with Stone Edge! Sylveon you use Last Resort
"Pikachu use Thunderbolt! Dracovish return! Come on out Impidimp! Use Taunt!"
Impidimp did what he does best. Get everyone's attention on him. With Sylveon and Pancham going after him, Pikachu was able to strike with a Thunderbolt, taking out Sylveon.
"Pancham use Arm Thrust!"
"Impidimp use Play Rough!"
The two smaller Pokémon dukes it out in the center of the arena. After a bit, Impidimp came out victorious.
"And the winner of today's tournament is Ash! Thank you to all who participated!" The announcer said.
Later
"Sorry about the battle." Ash said.
"Are you kidding, I wouldn't have had it any other way." Serena said. "I asked you to not go easy on me, and that's what you did."
"So we're good?" Ash asked.
"Of course." Serena replied.
