48. Epilogue

Salt Lake City International Airport. Salt Lake City. Province of Belcourt. A week later.

Ranamaya Bhattachan was sitting in the airport surrounded by her luggage. She looked the giant clock that read 9:45 PM. Rana knew that if he didn't come by 10, he wasn't coming at all. She herself had almost not come, but after she returned to Boise, Rana began planning this. Her family was upset and didn't want her to go, but in the end, they knew she couldn't stay in a country where she was labeled a slut.

As the time was nearly up, Rana prepared to leave. Suddenly, she saw him: Theodore Madden. He was carrying luggage of his own and he was still as handsome as ever. The only difference was that Teddy was wearing glasses. Apparently, the hot sauce had damaged his eye sight and he needed glasses to see from distances. When he saw Rana, the two ran up to each other and embraced.

"I didn't know if you were coming." Rana admitted as Teddy leaned in and kissed her.

"There's no where else for me go." Teddy admitted in return. After he had returned to Dakota, his father had been so furious at how the family had been disgraced that he had disowned his son and left him to his own devices. Mrs. Madden begged her husband for leniency, but he would not be swayed. Teddy was given a couple thousand dollars and sent on his way.

"At least we can be together." Rana replied with a small smile.

"Are you sure that there is no other way?" Teddy asked, not looking forward to living in self imposed exile.

"We don't have a choice." Miss Bhattachan insisted, "If we stay here, we either have to stay apart or die. If we want to be together, we have to leave Illèa." Teddy saw the truth in her words, but wasn't thrilled by it.

"OK." Teddy replied as the two shared a kiss before before heading to the main desk.

"Hello, we have a flight to London." Rana said as the two were handed their tickets. Teddy had purchased them with fake identification and it seemed to work. As the two lovers boarded their plane, they prepared to leave their home behind and cherish their love in a new place.
