Chapter 207

.

Phoebe got help from Mel and Maggie in opening the portal to Hell. Phoebe wanted to make sure her child was safe, just as Gabrielle wanted to make sure that her daughter was safe. Mel and Maggie knew that their respective lovers, Abby and Parker, might very well prefer ruling in Hell to serving in Antarctica. Perhaps Hope and Phoebe's son also preferred this. But one way or another they had to know. Also joining them was Andrew, known to some as simply "Rosemary's baby." His conception had been manipulated by a satanic cult to create the antichrist and take over the world. But Andrew resisted, renounced Evil, and was able to rescue his mother and his daughter from the cult. Now these five were trying to find the other four, and determine if they were interested in redemption. At one point, when the group was taking a rest, Phoebe and Gabrielle asked Andrew certain questions.

.

Gabrielle: How is it that you were able to resist Evil?

Andrew: I was born with no inherent knowledge of my destiny. The cult kidnapped my mother, I guess they wanted to use her as a bargaining chip if I turned against them. They tried to manipulate me into taking a life. I didn't know what the hell was going on, I just ran. Fortunately, I'd had a friend. He'd tried to become a priest but left that lifestyle. He joked that he'd promised to win at least one soul for Christ. The cult murdered my friend. It was ironically his memory that caused me to refuse to take a life. They tried to manipulate me again, they had a young woman rape me, become pregnant with my child. Finding out my heritage, rescuing mom and Mary from the cult, it wasn't easy.

Gabrielle: But you did. My Hope didn't. I fear I was just a vessel, her body was just a physical form.

Phoebe: I had the same fear for my child, I even became queen of the Underworld because my child's life was more important than doing the right thing. A part of me likes to believe that my child sacrificed it's life to stop the Seer, but maybe I'm grasping at straws.

Gabrielle: My child murdered someone when she was a few hours old. I don't even know why she did that, he was our ally. I fear that she couldn't help herself.

Phoebe: Unfortunately, in my world some creatures are just born evil. It's not impossible for them to renounce Evil, but it's very unlikely.

Andrew: From what I hear, people have more free will since the barriers between worlds broke down. I remember hearing about this group of teenagers and children who fought against Dracula and other monsters.

Phoebe: The Monster Squad? I saw that movie, it was okay.

Andrew: Yes. Shortly before their final battle Dracula kidnapped three catholic highschool girls and turned them into vampires for his side. All three were killed in this battle. Now that they have free will, two of these girls chose to help fight Evil and make amends?

Phoebe: And the third one?

Andrew: She decided that she liked Evil, she chose to serve this, and herself. She's Dracula's main bride now, I guess she likes the power.

Phoebe: What happenned to the rest of the monsters?

Andrew: The Wolfman, and the Frankenstein monster, they fight for Good. I forget which region of Hell they might be in, but they're working with this cop, an african-american who Dracula murdered the night of the final battle.

Phoebe: A black cop gets killed, isn't that a little racist?

Andrew: This Dracula was thousands of years old, maybe he never adjusted to changing views on race relations. Anyway Dracula rules over one kingdom here, Van Helsing leads a band of freedom fighters who resist. The Mummy, who was a brutal pharoh once, and the creature from the Black Lagoon. They help enforce Dracula's particular order. I've heard rumors that the other monsters have joined this resistance. If it's possible for them to seek redemption, I don't doubt that your children can also work towards this.
