The Hughes Residence

Three months passed after what Donovan put Chris, Katie and Simon through when he was on the loose and nearly killed Katie and Simon when he unleashed a deadly gas before he left the room at the compound. Katie and Simon thought they were going to be done before Donovan left them to die but thankfully Margo, Jack and Chris along with OPD's finest were able to find them before they were taken to the hospital. Donovan was still on the loose and hasn't been found yet which made things worse but he hasn't shown himself lately which is a good thing. Maybe the man was staying away from Oakdale for good and won't come back but no one was going to take him for granted. Donovan was going to be back for blood but at least the OPD and Margo know what to do. But as Katie was finishing up Jacob's lunch for school, the thought in her mind came about her and Simon in the room when they were about to die when the gas was unleashed. She leaned over and came close to embracing him before everything went fuzzy...did they sleep together? Her thoughts were broken when hearing the doorbell as she leaves the kitchen to answer the door while Jacob was doing some last minute homework before Chris and Katie drop him off for school.

Katie - "I got it!"

Katie goes to the door and opens it before seeing Simon with a duffle bag in his hand. Katie smiled before she hugged him.

Katie - "Simon, hey, this is a surprise. I didn't expect to see you on my doorstep today. Chris and I are going to drop Jacob off for school, what's up?"

Simon - "I just came by to tell you that I am leaving Oakdale as of today. It's time for me to go back home Katie"

Katie - "Oh you're leaving...today?"

Simon - "Yeah I am, I can't stay in one place here all the time you know? Besides, the land down under needs their PI back"

Katie - "And have all the fun adventures while I get to say here? *Grins* "But in all seriousness, I am glad you were here in Oakdale for the past couple of months. Despite Donovan coming out of the woodwork, we were able to rescue Barbara and Jacob too"

Simon - "A part of me blames myself for that you know? I'm sorry the kid had to go through that experience"

Katie - "Hey, don't be sorry, both of us knew Donovan was unpredictable but I still can't believe he took Jacob like that. What happens with Donovan now? Have the authorities in Australia were able to find him?"

Simon - "I doubt it, they're probably still pissed that the OPD and Margo left him off the hook. Sounds ironic since Donovan was the ones who pulled the wool over there eyes too. But you can bet Katie if I see Donovan, you and Margo will be the first ones to know"

Katie - "What about your brain tumor? Has it gone down or gone up?"

Simon - "It's gone down by a lot but only halfway so by going back to Australia, there's treatment down there I can take. Susan gave me the okay to take the flight last time I spoke to her"

Chris - "Katie, who is it?"

Chris walked down the stairs before he saw Simon standing in the doorway and was surprised to see him. Simon nodded and smiled a bit at the man who probably didn't want to see him here, but Simon wasn't here to cause any kind of trouble. Chris had every reason to not like the guy and didn't have a problem with Simon until he came back here to Oakdale with the baggage of Donovan. Yes, it wasn't the man's fault at all, everything was Donovan's fault but if Simon had just stayed away from Oakdale and Katie, then none of this wouldn't be happening. Katie would of immediately told Chris to back off the man, and tell him that Donovan was after Katie too since the two have history with each other at the same time. Jacob was in the other room doing his own homework which is a good thing. He didn't need to see his dad and uncle fight or argue but Simon and Christopher were adults, it's not like they were going to have an all out brawl between themselves. Katie felt awkward being the woman in the middle during all of this but there was a bright side. At least Chris didn't see the two of them naked and laying on the floor knocked out already, but she hoped both men can get along.

Katie looked at both men and gave them a warning look, she didn't want them fighting in their house or for Chris to give Simon a bad impression before the aussie left to go back to his homeland. Simon wasn't going to do anything. He didn't have problems with Katie's husband, the son of Bob and Kim, as the man always respected Chris and didn't want any kind of bad feelings between them. Despite what Chris thought of, he didn't sleep with Katie in that room of the compound that night when everyone was looking for them. But then again Simon could only imagine what Chris felt like seeing it. Not only was Chris shocked but also worried seeing Katie and Simon nearly naked together with blankets covering them. That image still played in his mind from time to time, even when he sleeps with Katie in bed every night after they put Jacob down. The man didn't have the guts to ask his own wife of what happened but even she doesn't remember anything before that or did she? Since that night the two have tried to adjust after everything that went down, but Chris could tell Katie was holding back. Maybe she knew the truth and wanted to tell him, but couldn't muster up enough strength.

Chris - "Simon hey...what brings you by?"

Simon - "Nothing much mate, I just came here to say goodbye to Katie. I'm leaving for Australia today so yeah"

Chris was surprised before he nods his head a bit but in the back of his mind the man was relieved Simon was leaving Oakdale.

Chris - " Well I wish you the best when you go back Simon, take care of yourself. Hopefully your brain tumor will go down"

Simon - "It already has and is half way gone so once I touch the homeland, there'll be treatment appoints going my way"

Chris - "That sounds great Simon but like I said, I wish you the best man. Thank you for...saving Jacob's life"

Simon - "No need to thank me Chris, I am just doing my job. He means a lot to me as well just like the kid means a lot to you guys too"

Jacob - "I'm ready mom! Dad!"

Jacob leaves the living room before he's about to run up to the door until he saw Simon and smiled, hugging the man.

Jacob - "Hey uncle Simon, what are you doing here?"

Simon - "I'm here to say goodbye Jacob.. Today I will be heading back home but I wanted to come see you and your parents before I leave"

Jacob - "Awwww...I wish you didn't have to go uncle Simon. I'll miss you"

Simon - "I'll miss you too buddy. Be good for your mom and dad okay? And if you need anything, I am one call away"

Jacob nods and smiles before he hugs Simon. After he was rescued Jacob didn't want to be around Simon or near him due to the nightmares that he had of Donovan but once Jacob spoke to a psychiatrist, he was more at ease with Simon, but it was nothing person against his uncle.

Chris - "Jacob, how about you and I have a race to the car? If you get there we'll take you out for ice cream later on"

Jacob immediately runs our the house with Chris following him from behind but before he does that, Simon and Chris shake hands out of respect. Christopher then catches up with Jacob as he runs outside to the car too.

Simon - "Well this is it Katie...see you later"

Katie - "Simon wait, I have to ask you this question. At the compound did you and I ever...you know?"

Simon - "Did what?"

Katie - "You know did we...together"

Simon - "I don't think we did...why Katie?"

Katie - "Oh nothing, just asking. Anyway, we better go but it was good to see you again Simon, take care of yourself"

Simon was confused by what she was asking though it had to do with the night they were both knocked out because of the gas. But Simon remembered that they did have face to face contact and lord knows what happened after that so they probably did sleep together. Hell, they were both naked when they came out of it once they were found. But Simon decided not to bring it up at all as Katie and himself left the home. Chris and Jacob were already inside the car waiting for Katie, so the last thing he wanted to do was scare Katie but also have her face Chris. Being honest to Chris about the kiss was not easy for Katie who had guilt written all over her including Simon too. It had to come out but Simon didn't also want their son Jacob to see his parents fight since Katie would tell Simon of the times where herself and Chris didn't talk to one another taking it's toll on Jacob. Getting in his own car, Simon honked at Chris and Katie as he smiled and waved goodbye at the two. On his way over to the airport as the other two were taking Jacob to school, Simon understood that things in this town don't add up all the time. Just wait until it gets more weird.
