Chapter 32
Indra sent a messenger to Tondc when they got close. They continued to walk and when Tondc came into sight, Anya and a few other warriors came out to meet them. The delinquents were exhausted when they finally stopped just outside the village.
"Who's the leader?" Anya asked Indra. Indra pointed to both Adara and Clarke.
"Adara and her second in command, Clarke."
"Welcome to Tondc. We don't have room for you all. But we'll find you tents to sleep in outside the wall for now. We'll take any injured you have inside." Adara nodded and motioned for Monroe to go bring Tomika to them.
"We have one injured. Broken ankle with a nerve being pinched," Adara said. "May we ask for your healer to look at her, please?" Anya nodded and turned her head towards the entrance.
"Nyko!" she shouted. A big man came out and up to Anya. "Broken ankle," she said, pointing to the injured girl being brought to them. Nyko nodded and went to escort her to the healing tent.
"Monroe, go with her." Monroe nodded and trotted off to catch up,
"You do not trust us?" asked Anya defensively.
"It's not that, it's that she may be scared around so many strangers," replied Adara. Anya looked at her and nodded. Yes, that was a valid reason. Adara looked at Indra.
"Now?" Adara asked.
"No. Wait until we are in private." Indra answered flatly. Adara nodded.
Anya looked at Indra with confusion. What could these - children - be up to?
"Let's go talk in private." she said.
Adara looked around.
"Octavia, you're in charge until we get back. Get them settled and make sure that they know to take their muddy boots off before they go to sleep!" she instructed the younger girl. Octavia nodded and started getting people to put the tents up with the help of the grounders. Adara turned back to Anya.
"After you," she said. Anya just looked at her, not quite sure what to make of these children.
When they reached Anya's tent, Clarke and Adara entered after the two warriors. Anya went to a chair and sat down. She didn't invite the two newcomers to do so.
"Speak," she commanded.
"Gromyo," Adara said. Anya reacted like the others in their surprise. A few minutes of remembering and she turned to Clarke.
"You! You got me killed!" she all but yelled at Clarke.
"Not my fault they shot first. I would have thought that they would have challenged us, after all a lot of us were missing, they should have figured some of us would turn up," Clarke said, sullenly. Anya thought about that and came to the conclusion that Clarke was right. There was nothing she could do about it - except avoid it this time.
"You," she said, turning to Adara. "I don't know you."
"You didn't meet me last time. We've never met."
"You are the leader? Clarke was last time."
Yeah, we've been through this with Indra. Clarke wants to be with the Commander and would like to be the ambassador for us so she can stay in Polis with Lexa."
"You and the Commander? What makes you think she would want to be with you? She had a love that died…"
"I know all about Costia," said Clarke. Anya exploded out of her seat.
"How do you know about her!" Anya yelled, advancing on Clarke.
"Anya!" barked Indra.
"What!" yelled Anya, not calming down.
"You died before they met. They were together before Lexa was killed." Anya stopped in her tracks.
"Killed? Who would dare to kill her?" she shouted.
"Titus," said Clarke. "He was trying to kill me with one of our guns. He was going to blame it on Murphy so that the Commander would wipe out the Skaikru and go back to being alone. Idiot wasn't looking where he was shooting and he shot Lexa as she came through the door."
"I'll kill him!" Anya bellowed.
"Get in line," said Clarke. "Lexa has first go and if she doesn't, I will." Clarke was determined not to let that happen again.
"I think I need to hear everything that happened after my death and what's happened this time around. You came here instead of staying at the ship."
"Clarke can tell you everything. She was in the middle of it all," said Adara. Anya nodded and turned to Clarke. Before Clarke could utter a word though, Indra spat out a name.
"Finn!"
"Finn's not with us. We left him behind." Indra calmed down and nodded.
"No slaughter?"
"No. No slaughter by either Finn or Bellamy. Both are on the Ark." said Adara.
"Good. I would have killed them myself for what they did."
"So would I," said Adara sorrowfully. "So would I." Adara turned and left the tent. Anya looked at Indra and indicated for her to go after Adara. Indra nodded and left. Anya then turned to Clarke.
"Begin from my death and don't leave anything out." Clarke nodded and began.

After a long while, Anya came out of her tent and started looking around.
"Indra, Adara," Anya said and then went into her tent. Both the called for people stood up and entered the tent.
"Have you any plans on what to do now?" Anya asked.
"Not really. We need to wake up the Commander, but other than that, we're going to do our damndest to stay out of the maunon's reach. The more time out of their grasp, the better," said Adara fervently. Clarke nodded her head vigorously.
"We know we need to deal with the Ark coming down, with Pike and Farm station, with ALIE and with Nia, but we also know we'll have to follow the Commander's lead on those things. Clarke can help with that. She knows what happened better than most of the others. I think though, those kids out there need to know basic self-defence. I would also like some of them to train as warriors with swords and bows, knives and staves and any other weapon you can teach them. I know it's a lot to ask and if you want, we can wait until we've woken the Commander," Adara said. Indra and Anya looked at each other and had a silent conversation.
"I will teach ten of your people to be warriors - as long as Octavia is one of them." said Indra.
"The rest will be taught self-defence. We will start in the morning. A messenger will be sent to the Commander asking her to come here urgently as a matter with the maunon has arisen," Anya continued. "Rest for now, food and water will be provided for you today. Tomorrow you train and learn how to hunt." Adara nodded and both Adara and Clarke left the tent.
They went outside the village walls and saw that Octavia had gotten the tents up and sleeping arrangements made. There were ten tents in all - ten to a tent. Adara looked around and saw Atom standing watch.
"Hey, Atom, where are we bunking?" asked Adara, pointing to herself and Clarke.
"Fifth tent, back row, nearest the village gates," Atom responded, not looking away from his watch area.
"Thanks," said Adara. They both walked over to the tent and went in. Sleeping bags were laying on top of several furs and more furs were piled in a corner for night time. Six of the bags had occupants. Charlie was sound asleep in one, but Octavia, Harper, Monroe, Raven and Roma were awake and talking quietly in theirs.
"Hey, guys, where do we sleep?" Adara questioned.
"Any of those empty ones," Raven said, pointing.
"Who else is sharing with us?" asked Clarke.
"Fox and Jessica," said Octavia. "Both are on water duty and I'll be on watch on the night shift. I'll try not to wake you when I leave."
"Good. Is there a roster of who takes watch and when?" asked Clarke.
"Not really. The ones on duty right now, volunteered. They will need to be replaced when it gets dark." said Octavia.
"Okay, Raven, could you sort that out, please? Include some of the girls too, they'll need to learn how to stand watch." asked Adara. "Tomorrow, we learn to hunt and learn self-defence. Ten will be trained as warriors and O, you will be one of them. Indra asked for you."
"Cool, can I be her Second again if she asks?"
"I'd have to think about that, O. We need to figure out what we are going to do. If you being her Second, puts you at odds with us, then you need to figure out what you want, It may come down to Trikru or Bellamy, O. I don't want you at odds with him until you have to be. Remember, he doesn't know about… before." Adara said, breaking off when she realised the Roma wasn't one of those awoken. Raven looked between Adara and Roma.
"She's sharing a tent with us, you have to wake her up. It's only fair. We're going to be discussing stuff and she needs to know about it," Raven said. Adara slowly nodded.
"Gromyo," she said and Roma sat bolt upright in her sleeping bag.
"Fuck!" she exclaimed.
"Yeah, chorused Raven, Monroe and Harper.
"I died?"
"Yeah," they chorused again.
"Everyone did, Roma. This is a second chance to get it right."
"NO!" yelled Charlie. "I won't kill him again. I promise I won't. Please don't hurt me!"
Adara lunged towards her. She grabbed hold of Charlie and hugged her to her.
"Charlie, I won't let anything happen to you, you hear? You are not alone now, You don't have nightmares anymore, do you?"
Charlie shook her head, tears streaming down her face.
"David isn't the son of Jaha anymore. He got himself arrested to come down here because it was the right thing to do."
"Who's David?" asked Charlie, confused that they were talking about someone she didn't know.
"David Stevens changed his name from Wells Jaha because he didn't agree with what the Chancellor was doing. He came down because he wanted to help us."
"Wells is now David?"
"Yes, his mom wanted to call him David, and Stevens was his mom's maiden name."
"Charlie, do you feel like killing him?" asked Clarke.
"No! I don't want to kill anyone."
"It's okay. Charlie. You don't have to."
It took several minutes to calm Charlie down. Eventually she fell asleep and Adara gently laid her down on her sleeping bag.
"I didn't need that!" said Adara. "I hoped to keep the previous life from her. She may not be able to cope with what she did."
"Maybe Murphy can talk to her. He remembers last time, David doesn't." said Raven.
"Good idea, I'll ask him in the morning. Roma, you got anything to ask us?"
"I probably will tomorrow, but I think I need to sleep on it tonight."
"Okay," said Adara, yawning. "Do we tell Fox and Jessica? If I remember correctly, they were killed inside the mountain last time."
"Yeah, they were," said Clarke, "Jasper blamed himself for it."
"For now, we don't tell them. Once we tell them, we can't untell them." said Adara, scrunching down into a sleeping bag.
"Goodnight, guys,"
"Night," they chorused. Adara was asleep almost immediately.
