When we last left off, Natasha won a climactic victory against Nyx and saved her world from returning to the mirror. Now she takes it upon herself to finish her journey by defeating the Elite 4. What perils will she face in the devastating gauntlet? You'll have to read on to find out.

Torren Pokémon League Headquarters
Having arrived at the steps to the Pokémon League Headquarters, Natasha sighed in relief, no longer assaulted by the barrage of insults from the tryhards populating Victory Road. Her resolve to become the Champion grew even stronger, if only to plan out a more challenging Victory Road without the needless edge. But she needed to put her plan aside; she had a gauntlet of battles to complete.
"Even when I'm right here, I still can't believe it…you'll be the first trainer to challenge the Elite Four in over a decade." Nora commented, causing the purple-haired girl to raise an eyebrow in intrigue. Her father, the final gym leader had only been missing for over a year; was he that strong to the point where gym challengers couldn't defeat him. A part of her wondered if he had used the crystal's power to defeat those trainers, but she cast that aside; he was too honorable to resort to such means.
"Though the battles will be tough, I know I can surpass them. Look at it this way; your girlfriend would be the new Champion of Torren." Natasha chimed in, the green-haired girl giggling in amusement. But it was then that a sudden broadcast blared on the televisions hanging from the walls.
"In breaking news, the Helios City Gym Leader East has been found wandering the streets near the Jade Tower, dazed and confused. He had been reported missing over a month ago after the Tower was invaded by members of the Sky Cult, lead by the disgraced Augur Jaern. When concerned citizens approached him, East requested to be taken to the Helios Police Headquarters, confessing that he was a member of the Sky Cult. As we speak, he is being interrogated about his whereabouts during the time, as well as his role within the cult." The reporter spoke, shuffling the papers in her hand. "On a more positive note, the Torren Elite Four is receiving its first challenger in over a decade; none other that the First Augur's daughter, Natasha. The teenage girl played a crucial role in vanquishing the Abyssal and Infernal Cults, and has easily defeated the region's Gym Leaders. We shall be eagerly keeping an eye on her during this critical moment."
"Seems I've become a celebrity all of a sudden…" The purple-haired girl mused to herself; seems that cultist she met in Nasca Town was right about Rayquaza rescuing East. Moments later, a large crowd of reporters, cameramen and even civilians burst into the building, barraging the girl with endless questions. "S-Settle down everyone, I'll answer your questions once I become Champion."
"We'll be watching every moment of your challenge." A reporter chimed in, his gaze shifting to the televisions. Guess they were there for broadcasting the challenger's attempt; an interesting idea in Natasha's opinion.
"If you want, I can handle their questions for now. You go ahead and became the Champion, honey." Nora proposed, her idea bearing fruit as she has plenty of experience dealing with the cults.
"Works with me. May I have a good luck kiss?" Natasha requested, with Nora giving her a quick peck on her cheek. Giving her a quick smile of appreciation, the purple-haired girl made her way to the front desk, filling in her information before walking through the gates, the final challenge awaiting her. Stepping into the lobby, she saw four doors to the sides, a large statue of Giratina standing boldly in the middle of the room. Opting to tackle the rooms to the left of her, she made her way to the bottom left room and walked through the door.
Stepping into the room, she soon found herself in a vivid pink room, with dozens of plants lined up against the back wall. Additionally, there were statues of pink hearts in front of the plants, adding an extra flare to the already bright room. Waiting by the edge of the arena was a teenage girl with short blonde hair and blue eyes. Her outfit consisted of a pink t-shirt with a white jacket over it, topped off with a white pleated skirt. Averting her gaze from her phone, she started directly at the challenger, a moderately amused smile on her face.
"'sup, challenger. I am Kayla of the Elite Four." She introduced herself. "My specialty is in hard work and harmony. All my Pokémon know what their role is, and together with my strategy, your defeat is imminent."
"Confident, are we? Perhaps I'll be happy to give you an example on just how powerful Delta Pokémon are." Natasha retorted.
"Ah, you're the Natasha I've heard so much about? Let's get this show on the road, mkay?" Kayla replied, taking out a Pokéball and sent out her Smeargle. Eyeing it up cautiously, the purple-haired girl sent out her Blastoise, an idea about Kayla's strategy hovering within her mind. "Start things off with a Taunt, Blastoise!"
The Dark type loomed over the Smeargle, leering at it and mockingly poked its tongue out. Enraged at the insult, the Painter Pokémon lunged at the tortoise, smacking it in a frenzy, but the frantic struggle injured the Smeargle a bit. Seizing this opportunity, the Blastoise got on all fours and charged up a ball of orange aura in its mouth, firing it at the Smeargle as it was blown back several feet, crumpling on the floor as it was unable to continue battling. Kayla was stunned at the outcome; how was Natasha able to counter her strategy so perfectly?
"Seems my hunch was on the money; based on your earlier comment about harmony and the fact that your Smeargle had no offensive moves, I was able to determine your strategy. You're into Baton Pass, are you?" The purple-haired girl replied, the blonde doing nothing but nod in response to her question. "It's a respectable strategy; having one Pokémon power itself up with stat-increasing moves before passing on those buffs to a sweeper. But if the set-up Pokémon falls victim to the effects of Taunt, then the strategy crumbles into dust."
"I-I see why everyone's talkin' about you…" The blonde said, recalling her Pokémon before musing to herself. This was not good; her initial strategy had been shattered within mere moments, and the first few moments were always the most vital for a Baton Pass team. Her only hope is to defeat the Blastoise and regain the momentum before Natasha could respond. "Sylveon, teach her a lesson!"
Sending out her next Pokémon, the Sylveon chirped happily, staring at its foe in confidence. Closing its eyes, it began collecting its thoughts, tossing away unnecessary thoughts in order to greatly bolster its mental capabilities. But as it opened its eyes, it saw the Blastoise regurgitate a vicious ball of green smile, the toxic liquid coating the Fairy type as the poison entered its bloodstream. Mewling in pain, the Sylveon glared at the Blastoise, taking in a deep breath before screaming at the tortoise. The soundwaves created by the attack glowed a vivid pink, striking the Blastoise directly as it was sent flying into the wall, crashing into it before landing on its shell. The Pixilate-boosted Hyper Voice proved too strong for the Blastoise, the attack knocking it out cleanly, thought the tortoise's work was done.
"Well done Blastoise, you did a good job out there." Natasha replied, recalling her Pokémon as she gazed at the Sylveon. She had a hunch that Kayla would use Baton Pass in order to get her out of the battle, before bringing in a special-orientated sweeper. Having already used two moves that spelled doom to a Baton Pass team, she was more than happy to use a third move. "Weezing, I choose you!"
Sending out her second Pokémon, the Weezing floated in the air, storm clouds brewing around its body. Sensing the danger she was in, the Sylveon's body began glowing white, retreating back into its Pokéball with the Elite Four member sending out her Slowbro in response. Though she had the type-advantage, Natasha knew that it would take more than that to secure victory. Indeed, her hunch was proven correct when Kayla took out her Mega Ring and pressed down on it, the Slowbro soon enveloped in a wonderous orb of light as it began the process of Mega Evolution. Within moments, it emerged from the orb, a dopey but confident growl escaping from its mouth. Rearing its head back, it spewed a blast of scalding hot water, with the Weezing conjuring up a wall of light to shield itself from the attack. Now on the offensive, the Thunder Clap Pokemon spewed a stream of bone-chilling black smoke from its mouth, the Slowbro shivering on the spot as the buffs it gained from Sylveon evaporated into thin air.
Not wanting to lose her Haze-user immediately, Natasha ordered it to use Volt Switch, the Weezing cloaking its body in electricity and tackled the Slowbro, the Psychic type spinning on its tail as the former retreated to its ball, enabling Natasha to send out her Luxray, the Poison type growling at its foe. Opting to go in for the kill, the Luxray clamped down on the Slowbro, sinking its fangs into it as the giant otter moaned in pain. Retracting its teeth from its foe, the Luxray struck its foe with its iron hard tail, sending the Slowbro flying into the wall as it soon devolved into its normal form, unable to continue battling.
Flinching at the sight, Kayla was at a loss as to what to do next, recalling her Pokémon before opting to take a risky gamble. Sending out her Sylveon, the blonde attempted to have her use Calm Mind once more, but the Luxray was prepared for such a thing. It wagged its tail at the Fairy type, taunting her to attack the Poison type. Growling at her foe, the Sylveon charged up a Moonblast and fired it at the Venom Fangs Pokémon, only for the latter to swat it away with ease. It soon lunged at the Sylveon, its tail dripping with venom as it jabbed it into its foe several times as she was pushed back a few feet. The Intertwining Pokémon attempted to make a last stand, but the Toxic attack from the Blastoise had taken its toll, the Fairy type crumpling to the floor.
'This isn't looking good, not at all…' Kayla thought to herself, recalling her Sylveon before opting to send out her Espeon. It was a sound plan after all; have it use Substitute to serve as a distraction, enabling it to use Calm Mind without trouble before bombarding it with powerful Psychic type attacks.
Or it would've been, had the Luxray not started things off with another Taunt. Damn that move, it was her greatest weakness. Enraged by the taunt, the Espeon fired a blast of psychic energy at the smilodon, pushing it back a few feet, though the latter was able to take the attack. Getting into position, it pounced onto its foe, clamping its teeth into the Espeon as it whimpered in pain, quivering in fear before the Delta Pokemon. Releasing its foe from its grasp, the Luxray walked backwards a few feet, its head glowing a lustrous silver before lunging at the Psychic type, headbutting it harshly and sent it flying several feet, the Espeon crumpling before its trainer's feet.
"H-How strong is that thing?!" Kayla exclaimed in surprise, recalling her injured companion.
"I told you I'd give you a taste of just how strong Delta Pokémon are." Natasha chimed in a cocky smile on her face. Little did the challenger realize that she has a surprise of her own.
"It's about time I end your Luxray's winning streak. Blaziken, start things off with a Bulk Up!" The blonde declared, sending out her fifth Pokémon. As the Blaziken was faster than the Luxray, it was able to bulk up for a little while, flexing its muscles to increase its offensive capabilities. The Luxray taunted its foe for a third time, but it was a grave mistake. Confidence, rather than anger fueled the Blaziken, the bipedal chicken leaped into the air, delivering a powerful jump kick that pushed the Smilodon back a few feet. Opting to keep the momentum, the chicken followed up with a series of swift punches, ending things with a Fire Punch to the face that sent the Luxray flying, the Poison type crashing into the wall as it slid to the ground. The Blaziken cheered in victory over its foe, having ended Luxray's streak of domination.
"You did an outstanding job out there, return." Natasha consoled her companion, recalling it to its ball before sending out a familiar face. Eyeing up its new foe, the Weezing went for another Haze, the bone-chilling smoke evaporating the Blaziken's buffs as it snorted at the Electric type. Preparing its body, the bipedal chicken leapt into the air and attempted to kick the Weezing, only for the latter to dodge and retaliate with Thunderbolt, scoring a direct hit on the vulnerable Pokémon. Watching it fall to the ground, the Thunder Clap Pokémon followed up with some Acrobatics, tackling into it at impressive speeds multiple times before knocking it into the ground, the Blaziken unable to continue battling.
"Impressive; been a long time since I was pushed like this…" Kayla said, recalling her injured Pokémon. "Now let's see how you like this; Maractus, I choose you!"
The blonde girl sent out her final Pokémon, causing Natasha to step back in surprise; she had her own Delta Pokémon. The Maractus resembled a robot, with bright white plating and big blue eyes. It rolled around on one wheel and had three sharp claws on the end of each arm. The most notable part were the two speakers on its head, no doubt boasting the ability to fire off powerful attacks. "Impressed, are you? My Maractus has Clear Body, meaning that your Haze shenanigans won't work! Go for a Shift Gear, Maractus."
Upon hearing those words, the gears in its body began rotating quickly, increasing its speed and offense greatly. Now rearing to go, the Robot Pokémon sped off towards the Weezing, electricity crackling from its speakers. Sensing its opponent's plan, the Thunder Clap Pokémon began beating on its stomach with its clouds, damaging itself greatly in order to maximize its attack. Seconds later, the Maractus fired off a souped-up Thunderbolt, the attack striking its opponent directly. Within moments, the Weezing began absorbing the electricity, using it to restore the health lost when it used Belly Drum.
"Belly Drum and Volt Absorb; a devious combo that will spell your doom. Finish this off with Wild Charge!" Natasha declared. Cloaking its body in electricity, the Weezing tackled into the Robot Pokémon, sending it flying several feet backwards before crumpling onto the floor. It attempted to get back up, but was unable to, securing Natasha her first victory in the Torren League. "Alright, we won!" She cheered, with Weezing joining in on the celebration.
"Astounding! It's been ages since I was decimated like that!" Kayla exclaimed, recalling her Maractus. "Your skills are incredible; no wonder everyone is captivated by your skills. Just don't get cocky; the rest of the Elite Four are more than capable of taking you on."
"Don't worry, I'm confident in my skills." The purple-haired girl replied, recalling her Weezing and exiting the room.
0000
Having exited the first room, Natasha began the quick process of healing her injured Pokémon, eyeing up the door to the top left room. It was where her second opponent awaited her, though what their strategy was, the teenager wasn't sure. However, she had a hunch that they would have a Delta Species as well, just like Kayla did. It was a little exciting in all honesty, being forced to fight the Pokémon she was an expert in. Having healed up her Pokémon, she made her way through the doorway and into the next room. Though Kayla's room was subtle about her main strategy, this room was anything but; with rocks stream about the place, and the arena itself being covered with sand, it was obvious what the strategy was. Sandstorm; a weather condition that damages every Pokémon that isn't Rock, Ground or Steel as well as grant small defensive boosts to those three types. All she needed to do was change the weather and she'd be in the clear.
Standing on the other side of the arena was a tall man wearing a brown three-piece suit with a white shirt underneath. He wore what looked like a short dark brown cape over his body, a matching brown hat over his head. His eyes were hidden behind a pair of black sunglasses, a confident smirk on his face. Noticing the approaching challenger, his smirk intensified, the man eager for a good battle. "Well, well, well! What do we have here…?"
"What you have here is the next Champion of Torren!" Natasha retorted boldly, the man chuckling in response.
"I like you, you remind me of myself when I was your age. The name's Eduard, Sandstorm master of the Elite Four. There's a lot that can be said about sand; it's coarse and it gets everywhere, but I love it all the same. My team will shut you down so hard, you won't even know what hit you!" He introduced himself, sending out his Hippowdon as the large beast roared. Large blasts of sand were expelled from its orifices, creating an intense sandstorm that blanketed the area. But Natasha wasn't fazed, the purple-haired girl sending out her Raichu, the large mouse letting out a happy chirp. Its eyes protected by its safety goggles, it flew up in the air, its tails began spinning rapidly, blowing away the sandstorm with ease. Eduard frowned slightly in response; this kid clearly did her homework since she has a Pokémon with Cloud Nine to counter his strategy. Regardless, he was confident in his chances of victory.
"Hippowdon, let's make things tricky for her with Stealth Rock!" He said, an idea forming in his mind. If he can't chip her Pokemon's health with Sandstorm, then he'll settle for entry hazards. Uttering a low roar, the Hippowdon slammed its foot into the ground, sending several sharp rocks that landed around Natasha, ready to crush her incoming Pokémon. But the Raichu had a trick up its sleeve, the Flying Mouse Pokémon diving towards the middle of the trap and began spinning in the air, sending the rocks flying everywhere and disarmed the trap. With its opponent's strategy ruined, the Raichu flew all over the place, chirping frantically from several places at once. This auditory bombardment confused the Hippowdon, causing the hippo to stagger on the spot. The mouse soon dove towards its foe, its body glowing a bright green as it tackled the Hippowdon, pushing it back a few feet. It soon flew back towards Natasha, enabling her to switch it out in favor of her Mismagius.
Upon entering the arena, the Mismagius chirped happily, its body glowing a bright white as a hailstorm soon showered the area, the Hippowdon wincing in pain from the falling hailstones. Taking in a deep breath, the Christmas Pokémon blew an almighty blizzard at the hippo, knocking it off its feet and sent it flying towards the back wall, knocking it out cleanly. "How'd you like that?" Natasha chimed in, pleased with herself for turning the tables.
"Changing the weather to suit your needs, I can get behind that." Eduard replied, recalling his Pokémon. "Unfortunately for you, I have the perfect counter for your Pokémon…"
With a quick flick of his wrist, the man sent out his Aegislash, the ghostly sword gazing at its foe as Natasha gulped slightly. It was the perfect counter for her Mismagius, and was strong enough to knock it out in one hit. She had no choice but to switch it out, even if it meant falling victim to her own hailstorm. "Go for U-Turn, Mismagius!"
Chirping in confidence, the Christmas Pokémon lunged at its foe, its body glowing a bright green. However, the Aegislash blocked the incoming attack with its shield, ensuring it didn't switch out. With its foe now vulnerable, the sword's body began shining brightly, tackling into the Mismagius as it was flung back several feet, crumpling on the floor before Natasha. As she had anticipated, it was knocked out in a single hit. Wincing in pain for her comrade, she recalled her Pokémon, mulling over what to do next. She was on the money with her weather-changing strategy, all she needed to do is adapt to whatever Eduard's planning. Selecting her next Pokémon, the teenager girl sent out her Froslass, the Fire type using her hands to block the incoming hailstones.
The Froslass' eyes began glowing a bright red, a ball of energy growing in her hands as she flung it into the air. Within moment the ball exploded, replacing the hailstorm with an intense blast of sunlight, with Eduard smirking at the sight; thank goodness he was wearing his lucky shades. The Aegislash, knowing that it needed to defeat its opponent right away opted to go on the offense, its body cloaked in shadows as it swiped at the Magma Pokémon. However, the Froslass was able to narrowly dodge the attack and retaliated with a souped-up Flamethrower, the torrent of fire sending the Aegislash flying backwards and into the wall, falling onto the ground a few moments later and was unable to continued battling.
Recalling his Pokémon, the Elite Four member settled for his Excadrill next, the powerful mole staring down its opponent. Despite the type disadvantage, he knew that it was speedy enough to pull off a powerful Earthquake, an attack more than strong enough to knock out the Froslass. Giving his companion a quick nod, the Excadrill chirped back, understanding what to do. It leaped into the air and pointed its horn at the ground, spinning towards it rapidly and struck the ground, creating an almighty tremor. But just as the shockwaves were about to strike the Froslass, she revealed her Air Balloon, enabling her to float into the air and avoid the incoming attack. This revelation stunned Darude, an equally surprised expression on his Excadrill's face. Narrowing her eyes at the mole, the Magma Pokémon took in a deep breath and breathed another powerful Flamethrower at the Excadrill, scoring a critical hit as the mole was flung back several feet, knocked out in a single hit.
"Damn, you're quite the tough opponent!" Darude grinned, recalling his Pokémon before selecting his next ball. "But this is where things become interesting…"
With a quick throw, he sent out his Garchomp, the mighty dragon roaring proudly. Natasha gazed at the bipedal powerhouse; she's seen a lot of Garchomps these last few days, and they were all able to put up a good fight. If there was a Delta Garchomp out there, then she'd catch it in an instant. For now, she needed to focus on the battle at hand, especially against her powerful opponent. Using its speed to its advantage, the Garchomp lunged at a large stalagmite on the ground, shattering it with its razor-sharp claws and flung the jagged chunks at the Froslass. An incoming rock burst her balloon, causing her to fall back down as her body was pelted with more rocks. Seizing this opportunity, the Mach Pokémon charged at the Magma Pokémon, it's body glowing a royal blue as it tackled into the Froslass, sending her flying into the wall, leaving an impact crater behind. She slid down onto the ground, unable to continue battling.
Flinching at the sight of her injured companion, Natasha recalled it quickly, pondering a strategy to deal with the menacing dragon. Reaching for her next Pokéball, she sent out her Raichu once more, the mouse chirping happily. Eyeing up its foe, it flew up into the air, taunting the Garchomp to attack. Angered by the audacity of its foe, it climbed onto a large rock and leaped off it, aiming its claws at the Raichu. In a graceful maneuver, it dodged the incoming attack, charging up a Moonblast and knocked its foe to the ground. Hoping to finish things off, it flew a few feet above the Mach Pokémon, spinning its tails rapidly as an icy-cold wind blew onto the fallen dragon, freezing it on the spot. Sensing that it couldn't continue battling, Eduard recalled his Garchomp and reached for his Cacturne's ball, a devious idea in mind. Sending out his Cacturne, the tall man pressed down on his Mega Ring, the imposing scarecrow soon enveloped in a wonderous light. Seconds later, the light died down, revealing its new form to the teenage girl.
It now had a dark brown cape over its face, neck and right arm, the spikes melded to form a double-barrel shotgun. Additionally, its body was a darker shade of green and a little leaner than before. Grabbing a pair of small pebbles, it loaded them into its 'gun' before taking aim at the Raichu and fired. The Flying Mouse had little time to react as it was struck directly, falling to the ground and onto the sand. Quickly getting back on its feet, it rolled to the side, narrowly dodging a follow-up attack from the scarecrow. Knowing that getting back into the air would leave it vulnerable to another gunshot, it opted to settle things on the ground, an idea forming in its mind. Turning around, it began spinning its tails once more, creating an icy gust of wind that froze the Cacturne's legs to the ground, an annoyed look on the scarecrow's face. Reloading its 'gun', it took aim at the Raichu and began firing off a salvo of Seed Bombs, the nimble mouse dodging the incoming barrage before leaping into the air. Charging up another Moonblast, it fired the large pink orb of energy at its foe, scoring a direct hit as the scarecrow was flung into the wall, devolving back into its normal form as it was unable to continue battling.
"Not bad…taking out my Mega Cacturne is no easy feat." Eduard congratulated his opponent, recalling his injured Pokémon. "But I have one last trick up my sleeve; something whose power you know all too well."
With a quick flick of his wrist, the Elite Four member sent out his final Pokémon, a Delta Hydreigon. Hissing at its opponent, the powerful hydra spewed a barrage of noxious sludge at the Flying Mouse Pokémon, scoring a direct hit as it was flung towards Natasha's feet, knocked out after a single attack. Cradling her injured companion, the purple-haired girl recalled it to its ball, wearily eying up the Tyrant Cobra Pokémon before her. Just as Eduard had said, she knew just how powerful it was, based on her personal experience. However, she wasn't going to throw in the towel, far from it. Putting her faith in her newest team member, she sent out her Lilligant, the Water type calmly gazing at her foe.
The Lilligant began glowing brightly, her mental capabilities increasing drastically as she psyched itself up for battle. Hissing at the Sea Inferno Pokémon, the Hydreigon went for Earth Power, a series of glowing tremors appearing on the ground beneath it. But in a move that Eduard had seen before, the Lilligant brought out her Air Balloon and floated into the air, avoiding the powerful attack. Opening her mouth, the Lilligant fired a powerful Hydro Pump at its foe, the massive torrent of water blasting the Hydreigon and sent it flying into the wall, crashing into it with such intensity that several cracks formed on the solid surface. The Tyrant Cobra Pokémon couldn't handle a Hydro Pump boosted by Tail Glow, the Delta Species falling to the ground as Natasha achieved her second victory in the Torren League Challenge.
"Yes! Another victory under our belt, only two more wins and we can challenge the Champion." The purple-haired girl cheered, her Lilligant chirping happily in response as Eduard recalled his Pokémon.
"Whoa! That was some impressive battling! With spirit like that, you could sweep through the rest of the Elite Four. But don't get cocky; overconfidence has led to the downfall of many challengers before." Eduard congratulated her.
"I understand. I'll make sure to remain calm and composed at all times." Natasha replied, recalling her Pokémon before exiting the room. Though she was halfway done with her challenge, she knew that the worst was yet to come.
And with that, the first half of the Elite Four has been defeated. I know that Kayla doesn't have a Delta Maractus but given how the other members have Deltas of their own, I figured it would only be fair if she had one as well. Besides, when you think about it, it's a perfect fit for her team. After all, it knows Baton Pass, status moves such as Shift Gear, Iron Defense and Calm Mind, and has Clear Body as an ability, preventing its stats from being lowered. The next chapter will cover the remaining Elite Four battles, so that'll be something to look forward to. Thank you all for reading, I'll see you in the next chapter.
