Here is the next chapter. I hope you like it. In this chapter just imagine that Hagrid speaks in his usual way if you can I found that I couldn't write it that way which is why it looks normal. Also for those of you wondering in this story Hermione is someone who idolises adults beyond belief and will not be told anything bad about them even if the person telling her is right. In that moment for her logic truly does go out the window. Please read and review thanks love Hermione xxx
Poppy sat there and looked at the memory Harry had given her again. She realised the way that Dumbledore had responded to the situation had not been good but he probably reacted like that because of his many titles and because of his stress levels being too high. She would speak to him about it later on. For now though she needed to speak to Hagrid urgently. It was quite obvious something was very wrong with him indeed. She asked an elf for a coloured phial and put some truth serum in it had had the elf bring Hagrid to her.
"Come in Hagrid. Now as you know each year a staff member has a problem but not this year. Here take this preventative potion and it will keep you safe ok?" she said handing over the coloured phial which he drank immediately the effects of the serum taking over at once. At last now she would get the truth from the old fool. I mean Hagrid was lovely but sometimes he could be a right idiot in that he never ever questioned anything or indeed why it might have been happening to him. It was almost as though he thought whatever happened to him he deserved or didn't need to question. After asking him so control questions to insure the serum was working she got to the nitty gritty.
"Do you hate Harry James Potter?"
"No of course not. To be honest I am surprised you would even ask me that! I am not an evil man Poppy"
"Did you throw Harry James Potter so hard out of the door of your hut that he broke his arm?"
"I am not sure. I did throw him out the door but if he broke his arm then that is news to me."
"Why did you do that?"
"Because he's all gay and disgusting. He deserved whatever happened to him. His father asked me to watch him while he was at school and he had no time for gays. Harry is not living up to his expectations. I hate that so much. James would be spinning in his grave so he would! You know how much I idolised James!"
"Do you hate gay people Hagrid?"
"No of course not. I am all for equal rights for everyone. I will not have anyone telling lies about me. I love everyone equally!"
"If you love gays then why are you so against Harry being gay?"
"Because his father would hate it mainly but actually I can't tell why as it makes no sense to me. To be honest with you I can tell I did something wrong and I am not happy about it. I don't know what it was though, but I am not happy. I do not hate gay people but I hate him for it and it's not normal. I thought he was interested in me. Help me Poppy I'm begging you!" he said wailing as she scanned him. She detected a large amount of poison which had been spelled into his stomach. The magical signature attached to it was that of Barty Crouch Junior which she as a healer could check.
"Take this antidote and then this curing potion. You will be well in no time. You were poisoned good man. Fear not!" she said as he blubbered really loudly and drank both potions. There was a huge explosion noise and he let out the largest fart ever as the potion dissipated. Harry was called to her rooms whereupon he was told all that had happened to Hagrid and was stunned.
"Are you better now Hagrid?" he asked him cautiously to which Hagrid looked very ashamed and shed more tears. He couldn't take Harry being slightly apprehensive of him.
"Indeed I am. I'd wager I was given that potion close to the end of school last year and I hadn't seen you yet which is why I was only angry now. Harry you are one of my greatest friends and I am so sorry I hurt you. I have been told when I threw you from my hut that you broke your arm. Can you ever forgive me?" he said as he burst into tears and used a nearby bed sheet to wipe his nose much to the disgust of Harry and Poppy who hadn't known he'd do that before.
"Yes of course I can. I am just happy you are better. The second you feel like you are not yourself Hagrid you must promise me that you'll come straight here to get checked out ok?" he asked as Hagrid agreed and he returned to class. Poppy and Hagrid both gave Ravenclaw twenty five points to negate the bad feelings. Hagrid had said he'd done so for Harry behaving well in class. In his office Filius was angry at the point gain. He didn't want to be winning the house cup unfairly just because he now had Harry Potter in his house but when he inquired and found out why it happened at all he was ok with it. He secretly vowed to watch over Hagrid closely to make sure something like that didn't happen again because clearly Hagrid couldn't tell when something was wrong with him. If he had been able to tell he'd have gone and gotten help for himself which he never did. Harry returned to class and sat beside Draco.
"Welcome back Mr Potter. We are just having everyone demonstrate the hardest spell they can do. I will ask Miss Granger to go next!" she said as Hermione got up nervously and walked to the front of the room as the other students had done. She conjured a vase and then cast bombarda maxima at it after which she repaired it. It was obvious that she wished to show off all she knew.
"Thank you for that and well done although I did ask for just one spell. You would do well to remember to listen to my instructions next time. Take two points for Gryffindor though as despite you being unable to listen and follow instructions accurately you did cast that spell effectively. Mr Warrens you can go next and remember to cast just one spell please!" she said pointing at Draco so as to alert everyone as to who she meant. Hermione was so ashamed and embarrassed that her ploy to get attention and recognition had not only been noticed for what it was but failed miserably. She loved all teachers though and wouldn't think poorly of this one. She just couldn't bring herself to ever dislike or hate an adult who wasn't Voldemort. Draco approached the top of the classroom and pointed his wand at his hand inside the palm of which he managed to conjure a small tornado.
"I can let this go if I like Professor but it would likely destroy the classroom so I won't do that. I'll just get rid of it now!" he explained doing that.
"Take five points to Ravenclaw for a difficult charm well mastered!" she said smiling at him as he beamed in pride. Harry was so proud of him. He'd done so well. Ron who was called to go next used a complex spell he'd read about to create music from the time of the renaissance. Everyone was stunned at that as they hadn't seen it coming. Clearly being with Lina and learning the right way was a serious help to him. There was no way he'd have been able to do anything remotely that good before though and did earn himself five points for his efforts. Harry was called on next and everyone wondered what he'd be able to do to. He called out the patronus charm his prongs springing forth and roaming the classroom.
"Excellent work Mr Potter. I cannot perform this spell myself and I daresay there are many who never master it. Take five points for your excellent casting. There is strength and bravery in knowing what we cannot do and accepting that about ourselves. Too often we berate ourselves for what we cannot do and miss the wonderful things we can do. That is forbidden in my classroom. If anyone is caught over stressing or something like that they will lose five points for their house straight away. Please Mr Crabbe share with us I am sure we'd all like to know what you've got to say which is obviously more important then what I am saying. You foolish boy! I could wipe the floor with you right now and you wouldn't even be able to comprehend it. Pay attention in future and ten points from Slytherin for not looking alert and talking whilst I was speaking!" she snapped suddenly as he jumped.
"I was just saying I can't do that spell and I was told you're evil if you can't. Is that true?" he asked her sounding highly panicked.
"It would not surprise me to learn that a Gryffindor had said this to you as they don't often know how to speak with any real tact sometimes. No it doesn't make you evil and I am not saying a Gryffindor said this to you I just said they could have and it would not surprise me. I cannot cast one and I am not evil. If you have lived through a lot of fear or sorrow in your life it is likely you may never cast this spell. Take two points to Slytherin for actually thinking to ask me something of intellect. Keep it up and you can go far. Now meaning no offense of course Mr Crabbe does not look like the kind of person who would have anything much intelligent to say but he definitely did. Do not judge the book by the cover I won't tell you again. Now in my own classroom I have rules which must be obeyed so pay attention please!" she said waving her wand as a chart appeared on the wall with their names on it and pockets in front of each name.
"This is your progress chart. Each week you will earn a collection of pumpkin stickers in your slot. Any rule breaking and you will lose some. The person at the end of the week who has the most pumpkin stickers will get a prize. I will be doing this each week to inspire you all to work hard. Do not try too hard however as that may annoy me and I may take all of your pumpkin stickers away because of it. Now as for my personal class rules they go as follows" she said getting out a chart which she proceeded to read aloud from as they listened to her.
"Rule number one is that any and all homework assigned is to be handed in on time and done exactly in the manor I have specified. If I tell you two parchments are required do not give me three. Learn to listen to instructions simply and follow them. If you have been in the hospital wing you are excused from homework for that day ok? It is however your responsibility in that time to catch up on what you miss out on in class so you are not behind everyone else when you return to us!" she said reading off rule number one. She wanted to be sure that her rules were understood so she would be reading them out one by one like that.
"Rule number two is that no one is allowed to shout out the answers in my class. If you do this you will be singled out and punished. Raise your hand and I will get to you. Please note I may choose to ask someone who did not raise their hand from time to time too just to see if they know the information or not. My job is to teach and we do not need any students in here thinking they are too big for their boots and correcting the students if they get something wrong. This is not good and you may be wrong yourself anyway so leave the teaching to me please" she said eyeing everyone carefully to be sure they understood it all. A few people even looked at Hermione who blushed bright red. Clearly she was one person who liked to do this often so Mafalda would be watching her carefully.
"Rule number three is to never cast a spell you find in any literature that you do not know even if the book it is contained inside would be considered a light book. Not only is this dangerous but it is reckless and will more than likely end up giving Madam Pomfrey more work than she needs!"
"Rule number four is to not curse someone in the class and think you can get away with it as you cannot. If anyone in this classroom uses a spell on another student which is not the spell we are currently learning you will banned from my class for two weeks. If you re-offend you will be kicked out permanently."
"Rule number five is that you may not bully or mock anyone in this room who reacts badly to spell or experiment because it affects them more then you. We all walk different paths in life and no one knows what goes on behind closed doors. Something which does not affect you at all may utterly horrify someone so we must all learn compassion and empathy. Those who harden their hearts and cannot show this will automatically gain detention with me. The only judge in this class will be and that will be to judge whether you have gotten something right or wrong nothing more and nothing less. The last rule is to have fun and enjoy it. You only live once so go wild while you can!" she said as everyone listened to her amazed. They were not assigned any homework as they'd not learned anything new and Hermione was distraught because they'd been asked to not read ahead before their next lesson. Actually it was a test to see who would comply as it had been a strange request for her to make. So far the classes were going well but Harry was nervous because he'd need to be going to a meeting with Bathsheda Babbling now and was nervous about it. It would be fine of course.
