I don't think Shiori is all that great...

The evening air was cool and filled with paper lights and loud music.

The villagers were enjoying the calm evening celebrations with dance and drink.

Kagome had set up so much food it confused the villagers as to where she acquired such a massive banquet that was fit for five lords and ladies.

Kagome however knew she had friends in high places, who were all willing to pitch in.

On their way were her more intimidating friends. Such as the half demons and full demons she had come across in the not so long ago journey she and Inuyasha had embarked on.

All her friends from over the years were invited to spend this wonderful evening together.

From the panther demon tribe to the southern and northern wolf tribes. To the half demon Shiori to the human girl Suki. From a lord whose love for Sango was still very strong to a young man whose love for Kagome was increasingly creepy.

She and Inuyasha had met many since their journey together first began. And to Kagome's joy, they all showed! Not one person who was invited refused to show. And all were happy to see the kind hearted Kagome again.

Rin feeling more down than ever decided to sit on a log by the large fire pit sulking.

"Child? What is troubling thee so? Why are ye not with thy friends?" Kaede sat beside the young girl.

"Hello, lady Kaede...I'm just not feeling too well is all." Rin sighed out.

"Are ye sick with fever child?" Kaede tested her hand to Rins head.

"No," Rin said holding back tears.

"Have ye eaten a meal prepared by Sango?" Kaede asked half joking with the young girl.

She was happy to see with her one eye that it had worked as a small smile graced Rins face for a moment before fleeting away.

"No, and I enjoy miss Sango's cooking. I'm just tired is all..." Rin said muddling her fingers around.

"Child, I know what be the cause of such exhaustion. It is not exhaustion of the body as it is exhaustion of the mind. What be troubling ye child. Ye can always speak to me about whatever would be troubling thee." Kaede said looking at the young girl.

Just before Rin could speak a large gust of wind blew around revealing the wolf demon couple of Koga and Ayame.

"Hey, kid. Whoa!? Or not kid anymore? Who knew you was a looker?" Koga said with both hands on his hips.

"Wow, Rin! You look beautiful!" Ayame beamed holding the young girl's hands.

"Thank you, so do you guys." Rin gave a half hearted smile.

"Lady Kaede! Demons! Oh no!" A village man spoke nervously seeing the two demons in front of Kaede.

"It's alright. Inform all thee villagers that I expect many demons to grace us with their presence this evening. None need be alarmed I'm sure." Kaede said trying to calm the villager.

"Rin? Is something wrong? Was it something that man said?" Ayame looked to the human village boys who were gathered around a very nervous and very shy Shiori.

"No. It's nothing honestly." Rin sighed.

"Wow, she's so beautiful!"

"Look at her eyes!"

"I don't think she's human?"

"Come on look at her! She can't be a demon she's too beautiful!"

The village boys all said around Shiori making her feel nervous and scared.

"Ok! Ok! Back it up! Give the girl some space! And she's a half demon for your information! And what would it have mattered if she was a full demon Huh?" Shippo said angrily. He growled lightly making the village boys flee.

"Ugh, you ok miss?" Kohaku asked as Shippo argued with one of the other village boys.

Shiori seen Kohaku in his slayer attire and became frightened. She took off running and accidentally ran into a large stone force.

She coward helplessly on the ground expecting to be made fun of or poked at or have stones thrown at her for having run into the strong man. However, instead, she was met with a kind and soft voice.

"Are you alright? I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to knock you down." The kind and comforting voice came from the medicinal herbalist and half demon Jinenji. He extended his hand knowing she wouldn't accept it. He was raised with more manners however and decided to offer his hand to help the young woman up.

Shiori looked up in relief. She seen a kindness in this man, she saw a gentleness in his radiant blue eyes, and she felt safe from his comforting voice. She placed her small delicate hand in his large rough and scarred palm. The warmth and safety she felt were unexplainable.

"Yes, ugh it was my fault. I'm sorry. My name is Shiori." The half bat demon girl replied with a blush upon her cheeks.

"I am Jinenji. You needn't be sorry. I'm just glad you are ok. I have an ointment for that bruise." Jinenji said pointing to her scuffed elbow.

"Oh? Thank you. That would be very kind of you." Shiori smiled shyly.

Jinenji walked Shiori to a seat and tended to her wound. The two began speaking all night long.
