Volume 2 Soundtrack

It took a few days for the four team members to be able to face each other. Raven and Qrow needing to work through their issues with Summer and Tai, especially Raven, when it has to do with her daughter, Yang.

"Okay so…let's just get the first issue out of the way now." Qrow started, saying the sentence so fast that Summer and Tai almost didn't understand him.

"Yeah…we really do need to talk about…that." Summer said, glancing at Raven who was clutching her brother's hand so tightly that both their hands were bone white.

"We aren't going to both by your wives." Summer stated, and Tai nodded seriously.

Taiyang was about to talk but Summer held up her hand and Tai snapped his mouth shut. "Let me finish. Neither Raven or I will marry you, however, Yang and Ruby will be our children, they will take both of our names. Do you agree to that, Tai?"

"I-yeah, that's fine. But…what do you mean that the girls will take both of our names?" Tai asked.

"Ruby will be Ruby Rose-Xiao Long, and Yang, with Raven's permission-"

"Yang Branwen-Xiao Long. We won't marry you, Tai, but the girls will have you as their father on their…birth certificates." Raven told the father her daughter.

"Okay." Taiyang agreed easily to the terms that Summer had told them.

Summer and Raven grinned, turning their attention towards Qrow. "Now, all we have to do is set you up!" Summer said, grinning.

"Uh…what?" Qrow asked dumbly, not realizing that his sister and leader planned on getting him a girlfriend or a boyfriend.

"Qrow, you're Semblance doesn't and shouldn't stop you from finding some happiness for yourself." Raven told her brother softly, stroking her thumb over his knuckles.

"I-" Qrow choked up, giving his sister a hug. "Thanks for believing that someone could like me, Rae."

"Shut up, idiot. You're a catch to whoever you choose." Tai said, smiling at his partner and Raven.

Qrow gave a watery laugh, wiping away his tears.

"Are you good now?" Summer asked her team and they all nodded. "Then let's go see if Kali and Ghira are waiting for us."

"Everything alright?" Kali asked Summer, and her friend nodded with a shy smile.

"That's good. I'm glad you four have come up with an agreement." Ghira said, smiling as well.

"Oh, yeah! Qrow, you're training Ruby." Summer stated as Qrow grinned and rubbed his hands together.

"Yes! I get my apprentice!" Qrow shouts with his hands up in the air.

"Alright, alright. Let's start listening to the music." Ghira said, getting Team STRQ to calm down.

Dream Come True

"Who do you think the song's about?" Tai asked.

"We literally just know the title." Raven deadpanned to Tai as he rolled his eyes.

"Is this…about Jaune and Weiss?" Summer asked.

"Maybe." Ghira said.

"Nope! It's about Pyrrha." Summer said with glee.

"I don't think so. It's in Pyrrha's point of view about Jaune and Weiss." Qrow said, shaking his head at Summer's exclamation.

"I hope they end up together, they're cute together." Kali said, a warm look on her face.

"If Jaune ever get's his head out of his ass, then sure. Maybe." Raven leaned back in the love seat she was occupying.

"Pretty sure they'll start dating in the next volume. I mean, the dance was pretty much confirmation that they'll end up together soon, right?" Tai said.

"Hopefully."

"Don't! Jaune is so dense it took you spelling it out for him to make a move and that was only because he made you a promise about you not having a date!" Qrow pointed out.

"Point-blank kiss him or tell him to his face. This back-and-forth shit ain't workin' sweetheart." Qrow said.

"True, I do think that the dance helped both Pyrrha and Jaune's confidence with each other." Ghira said.

Qrow and Tai laughed at that.

"I mean…its true. Weiss does seem to have…a stick up her ass." Kali said, giggling as Ghira stared at her in shock.

"My, my, Kali. Where did you get such a vulgar mouth?" Summer asked, smirk on her lips.

Kali smiled and snuggled into Ghira's arms, which he welcomed as they continued to listen to the song.

"Tell him, Pyrrha!" the girls screamed at the holo-screen.

The guys didn't say anything, just threw a few glances at Summer, Kali, and Raven's way.

"Nora!" Summer yelled.

"Don't forget about Ren." Kali said.

"Nora and Ren…Ren and Nora."

"I think the second sounds better, Ren and Nora." Tai commented.

But for a while, things have seemed so different

"They must have been extremely young when they met." Kali said softly.

"I wonder how they met, if that's the case." Summer said.

"They might have met during or in the aftermath of a Grimm attack." Raven pointed out.

"Or a bandit attack." Qrow muttered, but the two Faunus heard him, as did Raven.

"We don't know that." Raven hissed, Qrow just shrugged.

"Still."

Have I lost my mind? Have I just been blind?
Never to have seen you might be

All along, has it been right in front of me?

"Yes! Yes, yes, yes!" Summer was bouncing on the couch, making the others also bounce up from the force she was using.

"Sum, calm down, will you?" Tai said with a raised eyebrow.

"Oh, hush. You gotta admit they're cute together and I think that they both like each other, they just need to work up the courage to confess their feelings to each other." Summer told the blonde.

"Yes, just like Pyrrha and Jaune." Ghira rumbled.

"That'll be a long time coming." Raven said.

We've been together for a long, long, long, long time
I never thought that you and I could be a thing
I can't believe it
This is happening

Summer and Kali grinned at each other. "The line from the dance!"

"Why are girls so obsessed with other people's love lives?" Qrow grumbled.

"Because its fun and we really need to get you someone." Summer stated.

"I'm fine!"

"Your only friends are us, and that's a stretch." Tai pointed out, as Qrow scowled at him.

"I don't-"

"You can't always be alone, Qrow. That's not healthy." Kali said softly, her mothering nature coming out to soothe the old emotional scars left by the Tribe.

"I-"

Raven put her finger to her brother's lips, stopping any protests from him. "Qrow…are you happy?" Raven asked, her red eyes round with emotion.

Qrow didn't answer.

"Because if you are, we'll leave you alone with hounding you about finding someone you love or who loves you."

"I…I'm happy with you and Tai and Sum…But…I want what Kali and Ghira have. What Sum and Tai and you and Tai have with the girls." Qrow said after a long silence.

"You get to chose then. Whoever you want, male or female, you know it doesn't matter to me. All that matters is that you're happy." Raven said, as she had Qrow lean into her, head on her shoulder.

"Thanks Rae." Qrow rasped, voice thick with emotion.

"Always, Little Brother."

The others didn't interrupt and were smiling warmly at the tender scene between the siblings. They all knew that Raven and Qrow had a lot of issues that needed to be worked through but that wouldn't change just because they were finally opening up after years of suppressing their emotions and what they wanted in their lives.

I think "Oh woah, what am I to do?"
I didn't know that I would fall in love with you
And what to do right now? I haven't got a clue
I just bite my tongue

Every chatelaine wants to share her reign

Summer and Tai laughed, remembering what Nora said about Cardin. "Should we let her break Cardin and his teams' legs?" Kali asked.

"So that they don't bully Velvet or any other Faunus, or Jaune. Yes." Ghira answered.

"Didn't know you were so bloodthirsty." Raven said.

"If its for my people…I don't mind becoming the monster that most Humans portray us as. Sometimes nonviolence doesn't work. I'm trying to avoid bloodshed, but sometimes, its unavoidable."

"We'll stop it. And we'll have help." Kali told her boyfriend, the High Leader of the White Fang, currently, sternly as she gripped his arm.

Ghira hummed and gave the Princess of Menagerie and the Faunus a wane smile.

But when I think about you, I can't help my heart from racing
And my mind goes fast and my knees start shaking
My stomach does flips and my brain does flops
And the feelings that I'm feeling, I don't think that I can stop
I could just say it: "I love you everything"
But I can't quite tell myself if you're feeling quite the same
Maybe I should slow it down, try to show restraint
Hold Magnhild, I think I'm gonna faint

"Boop. It's her version of 'I love you', to Ren." Tai deduced.

I think "Oh woah, what am I to do?"
I didn't know that I would fall in love with you

I just bite my tongue
And when I wanna say "I love you" I'll say

They were all happy after the song, and wanting to listen to the song again but resolved to do that when they were finished with the other songs.

All Our Days

Long ago, before we met,
I dreamed about you.
The peace you'd bring.
The songs we'd sing.
The way you'd make things new.

"This sounds like…one of us is singing to our children." Ghira said, eyes widening.

"Yeah…seems like it." Summer said breathlessly.

"Whatever happened won't." Tai and Raven grabbed both of Summer's hands and clenched tightly onto her.

Then one day, you arrived.
I heard your angel cry.
Helpless, small, and perfect,
Welcome to your life.

"It is! But…who's singing this?" Kali asked, glancing toward the three members of Team STRQ.

No one answered her.

And on that day, I made a vow.
Whispered and true.
No matter what, no matter how,
I made this promise to you.

I will cling, I will clutch,
I'll hold onto you, I won't turn away.
I won't leave, I won't go,
I will stay with you all our days.

Taiyang paled, sobbing. "…me…I'm singing to Yang."

"I…how can you tell?' Kali asked.

"'I won't turn away'." Tai responded and Raven flinched.

Raven was crying at the thought of Tai raising Yang and by extension, Ruby alone.

Years of joy have passed since then.
With time I've seen you grow.
Watched you play, new each day.
I begged the time to slow.

"Every parent wants that." Ghira whispered, wrapping his arms around Kali, bringing her into his chest. Both Faunus were thinking about their daughter.

What happened to them…where were they? What had happened between them and Blake?

And though I miss the little girl,
You've made me awful proud.
Funny how our lives change,
'Cause you're my hero now.

"Yang…" Raven croaked; her voice broken as she sobbed for her missed chance to be with her daughter.

"You're going to be a good mother, Raven. And even if not, we're going to get through this together, we'll raise the girls together." Tai told the black-haired beauty.

Raven just nodded; she couldn't even form a coherent sentence.

But things in life will rearrange.
Friends come and go.
Don't ever doubt, don't ever fear,
I'm always here and you know.

I will cling, I will clutch,
I'll hold onto you, I won't turn away.

By the end all of them were crying and had to take a bit of time to compose themselves.

After an hour or so, the group was ready to continue, this time, tissues on hand.

Die

"That's a disturbing title." Ghria muttered, worried for what the song will be about, or who it will be about.

It was just fine,
We lived in peace,
Looked to a happy ending.

The days were bright,
They shined like gold,
Every step ascending.

Our dreams came true,
Our path was clear,
The moon watched safely from above.

"There are a lot of moon references in these songs." Summer commented.

But every smile,
Is not the same,
And every heart's not filled with...

Love for mankind;
Look around it's getting very hard to find.
Not every open wound is simply healed by time,
But revenge is always sweet,
And chaos is the prize.

"That's got to be a reference to Cinder." Tai pointed out.

"Maybe even Adam." Kali said, concern for her daughter and her friends. Ghira frowned at the thought of the other Faunus, a Faunus who scared his daughter very much.

Feel it everywhere and you see it growing,
Enemies arise and the hate is flowing,
Shattering the moon and bloodying the sky.

Someone's going to die. Or multiple people. Raven thought sourly.

She hoped it wouldn't be one of the girls or their friends but…. with war on the horizon because of Ironwood, that wasn't likely.

"Hate, panic, and fear will attract the Grimm to the Kingdoms." Summer clenched her fists in fear.

The machines of war will fuel both sides,
And the greed will only grow more lies;
Farewell to days of peace 'cause now it's time to die.

"Ironwood, definitely. 'Machines of war will fuel both sides.' That's a direct parallel to what Ironwood's trying to do to Vale, occupying our Kingdom." Tai growled; purple eyes narrowed.

Where did it go?
Our peaceful youth,
Seems to be gone forever.

And in its place,
A life of war,
Every truce has severed.

"Can Remnant even take a full-scale war, another Great War?" Ghira asked, posing the question to his girlfriend.

"No, not with the way things are set up. Peace has only been reigning for 80 years in this future, not nearly enough time to bridge the gap between Atlas and Vacuo. More than that, Menagerie will have to get involved in the Second Great War if it comes to that, and I know for a fact which side I'll be choosing." Kali said sternly.

Summer and Tai share a look. Ghira grimaces but nods. "I'll stand with you; the White Fang will fight alongside the forces of Menagerie. And we will be able to establish Menagerie as its own Kingdom."

"You would be willing to go to war with Atlas and Mistral?" Summer asked.

"Yes, I would. For my people, and our freedom? There's not much I wouldn't do to ensure our survival and our free will be acknowledged." Kali said, giving a smile toward the Vale Kingdom natives.

"That doesn't mean that you two are our enemies. Raven, Qrow…you two are our friends and I have no doubt that both of you will chose the right thing to do when they time comes. If war is brewing, I would rather have a skilled Huntsman team on our side." Ghira said, smirking at the twins.

Qrow cleared his throat, "Thanks, Ghira, Kali. It means a lot that you believe in us."

"Of course, we do. Why wouldn't we? Summer and Tai, as well as you two, are our friends, we've told you that before." Kali said, smiling at the two former bandits.

We'll live our lives,
Watching our backs,
Not knowing who to trust or fear.

The hate just swallows all the love,
And all the,
Truth will disappear...

"Why do I get the feeling that that's something to do with whatever's going on with Ozpin, Ironwood, and Glynda?" Tai asked.

"There's been a lot of that lately. One way or another, whatever they're hiding is going to come out…and its not going to be pretty." Raven said.

Lost and blind;
Seems our dreams of peace have all been left behind.
It's always said white clouds aren't always silver lined,
But the future's looking bleak,
And the storm is set to rise.

"Will Ruby lose her eyes?" Summer yelled, frightened at the possibly that her daughter would lose her ability to see.

"I don't know, Sum. But we won't let it happen." Tai stressed, gripping her hands tightly in his own.

Say goodbye.
Time to die.

Time to die. (Die...)

Feel it everywhere and you see it growing,

War was going to happen no matter what Team STRQ, Kali, and Ghira do, but they may be able to minimize the damage and the losses.

Hopefully.

"This is the last song." Summer mumbled, wanting to get this over with already and rest.

Sacrifice

Close your eyes now time for dreams,
Death is never what it seems.

Summer paled, her skin turning an almost grey color.

"Oh Gods…no…"

All six adults were in different states of worry, shock, and horror.

All your faith in ancient ways,
Leaves you trapped inside a maze.
Take the lives of those you need,
Sow the death then reap the seed.
Reap the seed.

"Oz, this has got to be about Oz and Summer! Maybe about what happened to her." Qrow hissed out through gritted teeth.

Raven narrowed her eyes, thinking on the lyrics and agreeing with Qrow.

Born an angel, heaven sent,
Falls from grace are never elegant.
Stars will drop out of the sky,
The moon will sadly watch the roses die.

"No!" Team STRQ shouted. Summer was shaking and pale, her white cloak was even darker than her skin at the moment.

"Ruby is a Rose as well…" Summer breathed, she prayed that her daughter wouldn't die. She didn't know what she would do if Ruby died.

Kali and Ghira were stunned into silence, horror on their faces.

In vain,
Lost, no gain,
But you're not taking me.

"I don't think this is just about Summer or Ruby…it's still talking about Ozpin, but this might be from…" Qrow met his sister's gaze, and then, "Raven's perspective."

"Raven? How can you tell?" Ghira asked, worried about Summer and Ruby.

"If Summer died because of Ozpin…that would cause Rae to leave to get out from under Ozpin." Qrow told the Faunus.

"It's true." Raven agreed.

You can't have my life,
I'm not your sacrifice.
You can try, but I'm free,
And you won't conquer me.

"That's certainly Raven. Rae won't let anyone take charge and the only reason why she accepted Summer as our leader was because Summer beat her in an all-out brawl that she demanded for a few weeks into our first year." Taiyang said.

I won't crawl,
Most of all,
I won't fall,
For you.

"What could the Headmaster have done to make Raven…" Kali trailed off.

"Summer." Qrow and Raven said in unison.

"You two are definitely twins, alright." Tai grinned, trying to lighten the mood.

Show them gods and deities,
Blind and keep the people on their knees.
Pierce the sky, escape your fate.
The more you try the more you'll just breed hate,

"'Gods and deities'? Does that mean that-" Summer flinched. "…that the two Brother Gods are real?"

No one had an answer for the Silver-Eyed Warrior. They were all shocked and horrified, because if the God Brothers were real…then did that mean that all of the fairy tales that they knew were also real?

If so…that brought with it a new set of problems that they didn't even know how to start fixing.

And lies.
Truth will rise,
Revealed by mirrored eyes.

"'Mirrored eyes'…Ozpin's secrets must be revealed by Ruby! That means she doesn't die!" Summer exclaimed in relief.

What if all the plans you made,
Were not worth the price they paid?
Even with the lives you stole,
Still no closer to your...
Goal.

"He got me killed." Summer breathed, horrified at that revelation.

"We won't let him do whatever he wants with you, Summer!" Qrow said fiercely. Tai and Raven came over to the white-cloaked woman and silently comforted her with a giant group hug/pile.

"I hope so…I don't want Ruby or Yang to…to get hurt or worse." Summer whispered, fearing for her children and family.

You can't have my life.

"It seems like we have another set of problems to try and solve…" Kali commented, staring at the black holo-screen.

"And we will do it together. Even if we don't find a solution, we can still plan." Ghira pointed out, giving them some hope.

Team STRQ and Kali nodded, grateful for Ghira's calming and protective presence.

I will be putting STRQ Future on another hiatus to write the V3 reactions. I will be back from my hiatus in August.
