*Entry #34: The Kindergarten

Oh, boy. This place was intense. I just found out the reason for the Crystal Gem rebellion... and the birthplace of all Gems bred on Earth. It's called the Kindergarten, and it was the darkest place I've been yet. The atmosphere is an overwhelming feeling of dread and apathy. It was like life completely abandoned the very dirt I walked on. The barren, black canyon was filled with broken-down drill machines and Gem-sized holes. From what I could gather, Homeworld's been using the drills to implant new Gems and drain the life from the environment to give birth to them. They've been doing this excavation on many other worlds teeming with life. Any further progress of the Kindergarten would have taken all life on Earth and the whole world would have been literally reshaped into a Homeworld outpost. That's why Rose Quartz began to rebel in the first place, to save the Earth the grew to love. Upon further investigation, I have also found an exit hole that was different from the others. It was a lot smaller than them. Based on the size, it must have been for the Crystal Gems' Amethyst. The Kindergarten was meant to grow new Quartz soldiers, so I'm guessing that Amethyst spent too much time in the ground incubating until after Homeworld retreated, which explains her base form. I'm just glad this place stopped functioning or else we'd all be goners.
