Mine The wolf in me growled. Mine.

With every touch, every stroke the feeling that she was mine and mine alone intensified. I was marking her, making it clear to everyone that she belonged to me.

I had acted out of instinct when I had turned us so she was on top of me, but it was a good thing because now I had both my hands free to travel up and down her body. From her neck to her hips, from her stomach to her back, I felt like I needed to touch every last bit of her. Only once I let my fingers travel underneath the shirt, caressing the bare skin of her hips. It felt so incredibly soft and when she didn't object, I was tempted to go all the way up, touching more of her, more of her skin but I didn't want to rush things. I had to go slow because I knew that she wanted that too.

So instead of doing what I really wanted, I placed my fingers on top of her shirt again and contented myself with touching her this way. My hands found their way in her damp hair and now I saw why she always buried her hands in my hair. It was a very good way of drawing her closer, getting her face so close to mine that our foreheads touched as we continued to kiss.

I honestly didn't know how I would ever be able to stop. It was my dad who "saved" me. His show seemed to have ended because with a loud "I'm going to bed. Be good, kids," he rolled away to his own room which was across from mine. I remembered the open door and quickly drew Bella from over me to my side, holding her like the good friend I was and not like the hormone-driven, sex-addicted teenager I had been a few seconds earlier.

My father didn't look at us when he went into his own room, but I could see a knowing smile on his face just as he passed by. The old man saw more than one would guess, I've always known that. His door closed and I closed my eyes, trying to slow down my breathing. And other body parts.

As usual, I wore jeans but my body's reaction to her closeness and the kisses was very visible. Bella must have seen this too because she untangled herself and stood up. She didn't look at me when she mumbled a quick "I'll head to the bathroom, be right back" and went out.

I actually was kind of glad she was gone because it gave me time to cool down a little bit. I got up and opened my window, letting in the fresh night air. The rain had stopped sometimes during our make-out session, but the smell still lingered in the air. I drew in a few breaths, letting the coldness calm my heated body.

I heard her quiet footsteps approaching and then she was standing right behind me, her arms wrapped around me as best as she could, and her face buried in my back.

"Hey there," I began quietly.

"Hey," she answered, not moving.

"You alright?"

"Yes. Very."

I chuckled and turned, hugging her as I did. Her hair was a mess, but she seemed to have washed her face because it was cool and damp against my chest. Her hand came to lie directly over my heart, and she relaxed as she felt its steady beating. "It beats only for you, you know?" It probably was the most used and most corny thing to say but it was true. And she liked it judging from the smile that crossed her face before she yawned.

"Wanna go to bed?"

"Maybe... In a few minutes."

"Sounds good to me."

I didn't get much sleep this night. I had slept during the day, expecting to be out all night on patrol so I wasn't really tired. And it was a nice sight, Bella lying on my side, her face on my shoulder, her arm across my chest. She breathed evenly and slept soundly, not one nightmare in sight.

I liked the thought of being the reason her nightmares were gone. It seemed I had finally defeated the bloodsucker, torn him into a million pieces and brought the prize home.

My Bella.

Mine.

The wolf seemed to be happy with that thought too, because he was equally still, watching Bella through my eyes and protecting her, like I did.
