Blind Eye 4-7
Episode 4 part 7
Ms. Madero's shoulders finally sagged.
"What do you want?" she asked
"We want to know who hired the Sundance Clan to harass me and my friends." said Lisa
"I don't know." She said. Rafael glared at her and Elle raised her sword a little.
"Don't try to con us!" warned Rafael
"I'm not." She pleaded, "Our king doesn't tell us that, he just tells us where to go and what to do!"
"Shut up Selena!" snapped the Janitor, "don't tell them anything!"
"You Shut up, Romano," she retorted, "You saw what they did to the last bunch that we sent after them. Three of those men can still barely walk! Four counting you, I'm not gonna take that chance."
"What do you think, Elle." Said Lisa
"She's not Lying." Replied Elle, "Trust me, I'd know if she was."
"Alright," said Rafael letting her go, "pick up your friend and get out of here."
"And you tell the rest of your clan that any more attempts on Lisa or anyone close to her would be ill advised." Warned Rafael.
Selena nodded and helped Romano up and helped him hobble away.
Elle could here their conversation as they went.
"Well, you sure fouled things up." Growled Romano.
"You know what," retorted Selena, "I don't care, I wanted to be a teacher not a mercenary! I hate hurting people!"
"Yeah, well just you wait until Lucien finds out you spilled your guts to our enemies! He'll leave you to decorate the Razor Rocks!"
Just before they passed out of ear shot. Elle heard Selena's breath catch in her throat and her heart speed way up at the name Lucien.
Later that afternoon as Elle and Lisa were being chauffeured to Pine Hollow in Elle's SUV. Lisa noticed that Elle was being unusually silent.
"Okay Elle," she said, "What's wrong?"
"Lisa," said Elle, "Do you trust me?"
"With my life! You know that," said Lisa without Any hesitation.
"Lisa, we need to save Selena." Said Elle
"What?!" said Lisa stunned
"Please, hear me out!" said Elle, "I overheard her arguing with that Romano guy, she hates what the clan makes her do. She genuinely wants to be a teacher. And judging from what I heard I think that a guy named Lucian is the King of the Sundance Clan and that when he finds out that she told us everything she knew, he's gonna kill her."
"I don't know," said Lisa, "I hesitate to trust a Sundance Roma."
"I know it sounds crazy," said Elle, "But please, trust me, I have a feeling about this. When Romano dropped Lucien's name, Selena got real scared I could tell. Her pulse rate shot way up!"
"But we don't even know where their camp is!" said Lisa
"Actually, I think we do." Said Elle, "Romano said that when Lucien found out that Selena spilled her guts to us, he'd leave her to decorate the Razor Rocks!"
Lisa paled. She and Elle knew that name. The Razor rocks were Jagged rocks jutting up from the middle of the river that flowed at the bottom of Dead Man's Gorge. They were called Razor Rocks because they were a collection of dangerously sharp points and knife-like edges!
"That could only mean that their camp must be in the clearing near dead man's gorge." Said Lisa, "Do you really think that he'd really try to kill her?"
"They tried to kill me and Connor," shrugged Elle, "So who's to say that they wouldn't kill one of their own if they felt that person had betrayed them!"
"You're right!" said Lisa, "Oh no what's Rafael going to say if he finds out that I saved the life of Sundance girl?!"
"Lisa, if she really is in danger from her own people, and we don't at least try to help her, we'd be no better than they are, and Rafael knows it!" replied Elle.
Lisa nodded
"You're right!"
When the girls got to Pine Hollow, they went straight to their horses and saddled up. They mounted up and rode off toward Dead Man's gorge as fast as they could go. Carole was still inside doing her homework and Stevie hadn't arrived yet. Rafael had gone back to his camp, so no one was there to stop her.
The girls arrived at the clearing. They halted their horses in a spot where they knew they would be concealed by the tree line. when Lisa peered through the trees. she realized they weren't a moment too soon.
Selena was being dragged kicking and screaming toward the edge of the gorge. Her hands were tied behind her back.
"I know, they're about to throw her over!" said Elle before Lisa could say anything.
"This is what happens to traitors!" announced an importantly dressed Romani, Who Elle and Lisa guessed must be Lucien.
Without even speaking, Lisa and Elle knew they would have to hurry, and count on the element of surprise. They came galloping out of the trees toward the two men holding Selena. The rest of the Romani there were too surprised to react.
Lisa and Elle slashed with their swords. The two Sundance guards hit the ground crying in pain with deep slashes in their shoulders!
Elle slipped her blade deftly between Selena's hands and cut the ropes binding her. Then Elle Sheathed her sword and held out her hand to Selena.
"Come on," she cried
Selena grabbed her hand and swung herself up behind Elle. The girls galloped off.
"Get them!" yelled Lucien, "Don't let them escape!"
Lisa and Elle kept going and didn't slow their horses until they crossed the small, narrow suspension bridge across the gorge.
At that moment they could hear horses behind them.
"There still after us!" said Lisa
"Not for Long," said Elle sliding out of her saddle. As soon as her feet hit the ground her hands went to her saddle bag and she pulled out two half-filled vials. The chemical in one vial was green and the chemical in the other was blue. She combined them into one vial, shook it up and threw it into the center of the bridge. The vial shattered and the bridge erupted in flames.
The pursuing Sundance foot soldiers arrived just in time to see the burning bridge collapse into the gorge.
"Elle," said Lisa, as her cousin climbed into the saddle again, "You dad is going to kill you if he finds out you're carrying his incendiaries around again!"
Elle grinned,
"Who said they were my Dad's?" she replied
Lisa just chuckled and shook her head with a That's-my-crazy-cousin look on her face."
They road on toward Pine Hollow.
Selena finally spoke. Her voice still a little scratchy from all the screaming she had done.
"Thank you for saving me." She said, "But why did you do it?"
"It was the right thing to do." Said Lisa with a smile. Then her smile faltered a little.
"Oh boy." She said, "When Rafael sees her he's going to freak!"
