Portgas D. Naruto
After getting back onto the ship Reeve had immediately rushed to his room and kept to himself for the past couple of days, only ever coming out for meals before retreating back into his room. The crew had been following an eternal log pose given to Naruto by Cobra the last time he had visited and thus had been by passing all of the uninhabited islands in their way. The trip to Alabasta ended up only taking a few days since the Great Wave was able to pass through the Calm Belt with no trouble.
"I see it on the horizon Lucy, now can I go back to sleep?" Gem yelled down to Lucy from the helm
She sighed, "I suppose you can for now, but get ready cause we're ALL leaving the ship when we dock on the river outside of Alubarna!" Lucy yelled up to the helmsman but then grew furious as he was already asleep
"Shall I cut him Lucy-chan?" Kinshiki asked her as he grabbed the hilt of his sword and was readying himself to pull it out
Lucy put her arm in front of Kinshiki, "Not today Kinshiki, as much as he annoys me we still need him on the ship. But don't worry, he'll get what's coming to him!" She exclaimed with a devilish smirk
Inside of the ship sat Naruto in his quarters as he practiced strumming an instrument subconsciously as he thought on what the youngest member of the crew was going through. He was snapped out of his concentration when Rose walked in through the door, covered in dirt as she had been making modifications to the ship. "What can I help you with Rose?" He asked her as he looked up to face her
She leaned against the door frame, "Lucy said to tell you that we've almost reached Alabasta, and I am also curious what's going on with Reeve? He's not dying is he!?" She blurted out, jumping to the worst conclusion as Naruto chuckled
"No no no, he's just going through a lot right now." Naruto told her before she nodded
"Who was that Marine we encountered back in Lougetown?" She asked him
Naruto sighed before looking at her once again. "The Marine is named Fongo, he's nothing special, he used to be in Sabaody but I guess got moved to the East Blue instead." The King of the Pirates explained but Lucy raised her brow
"There's more isn't there, I've known Reeve for a few years now and we've faced countless Marines. I've never seen him get so worked up over a Marine before. What is it that you're not telling me?" Rose questioned her captain more
"What I'm about to tell you you must not say to anyone else Rose. I know you've all heard the story on how Kiji, Reeve and I started the Whirlpool Pirates on Fishman Island but my journey didn't begin there. Before I met Kiji I met a young boy at Sabaody, Reeve. The reason he followed me out of that island was not because he willingly chose to. . ." He began before he was interupted
Rose yelled out, "Wait! You kidnapped him!?"
Naruto sighed as she once again came to the wrong conclusion, "No, he followed me because he had no where else to turn. That Marine, Fongo, killed the man who he was originally going to set sail with in front of his eyes. This guy was all the family he had and he was quite young at the time so you can only imagine how he felt. I'm going to go talk to him in a bit so don't worry about it too much."
"I see, I'll leave you to it then Captain." Rose finished as she left Naruto to his thoughts
He sat there for a moment and laid the instrument down by his side, he then blinked as he leaned back and looked towards the metal roof of his quarters. "Well I guess I should go and talk to the kid." Naruto spoke as he got up and walked to the door
Walking out into the hall Naruto noticed Yuri in the kitchen making something with Russ and Kiji waiting at the table waiting. He continued down the hall and to the left and then came across another room. He peered open the door and peeked inside to see Reeve at his desk in the dark room with the only thing lighting up the room being a candle.
Naruto walked in and then sat on the bed. "Must be hard to be a pirate from inside a dark room eh?" Naruto inquired but only silence could be heard
"I see. . .uh. . .have you thought of what you want to do when we reach Alabasta?" The Captain of the ship tried asking again
The younger then quickly snapped his head back to face the man. "What do you want!?" Reeve yelled out
"What do you mean what do I want. What I don't want is you to be moping around the ship all the time! C'mon Reeve, I started this crew with you and Kiji! I'd hate it if you weren't enjoying yourself on our adventures!" Naruto exclaimed to the teen
Tears started to flow down the teens face before he snapped. "Do you think I wanted to sail with you in the first place! I wanted to sail with Yuki! He was my first friend and my idol!" It then set in what he just said and then he began to apologize, "I-I'm sorry. . .I-I. . ." He began to say before Naruto lifted up his hand and beckoned him to stop
"Don't apologize Reeve, I know you didn't mean it. Listen I never knew Yuki personally but I know what it feels like to lose someone close. I don't expect you to forget Yuki but remember we're your friends too. Each one of us are here for you if you need it, anyway I'll leave you to it but be ready cause we're docking at Alabasta soon." Naruto explained to him before he wiped his tears and nodded
Naruto turned and left the room and then was greeted by the sight of Russ in the hall with a piece of meat hanging out of his mouth. "How's the kid?" The marksman asked his captain while chewing the meat
"Yeah how is he?" Rose questioned as she too popped out of one of the rooms
"That runt better be okay!" Lucy voiced as she too walked in from outside
Kinshiki was the next to talk, "Reeve-kun is alright, right?"
"He's coming with us to Alubarna right?" Kiji asked to the group while Yuri nodded behind him
Naruto laughed that everyone was so concerned at their fellow crew member as unknown to everyone, Reeve smiled from within the room.
Later in Alubarna. . .
"Wait so you said Alabasta is your territory Naruto?" Ace asked his brother as the crew walked through the city towards the palace
Naruto grinned, "Yep it is! I came here right after Crocodile was taken down and well I negotiated with Cobra and we agreed that Alabasta would become my territory! But if I do say so myself, it's too hot here!" He spoke as the Pirate King began to pant
"You could say that again." Kiji agreed as he too was sweating
"Agreed." Pedro chimed in as sweat poured down his face
The crew continued to walk as they saw various citizens going about their daily lives with smiles on all of their faces. "Wow people seem to be very happy here. I'm surprised there aren't any pirates to be seen!" Lucy spoke and Rose nodded with her
"Well I mean considering that this is the territory of the New Pirate King I doubt any Pirate would be foolish enough to come wandering here." Gem answered as he walked with his crew with his arms behind his head
"Fair enough." Reeve voiced
Lucy looked back to Naruto, Kiji, and Pedro who were all now holding each other up as best as they could. She grew a tic mark, "Aren't you made of water Naruto!? Why should the heat bug you?" She asked him with annoyance in her voice
"I-I can't really explain it. I just feel my body e-evapourating." He spoke as he continued to display a tired look on his face
Lucy face palmed, "Oh please!" She then continued to speak, "By the way where's the palace?" She asked Naruto who pointed to the tall building in the distance
"Wow look at the size of that thing! And it doesn't look to be too far away!" Reeve exclaimed with a bit of excitement
"I never personally visited Alubarna when I came here last time but by the looks of everything, especially the palace, it looks beautiful! I wonder if Vivi is up there right now?" Ace questioned out loud as a smile grew on his brother's face
He laughed, "Does Ace have a girlfriend I don't know about?" He teased as a blush went over Ace's face a little
"S-Shut up idiot!" He retorted
"Hey hot head! Don't tell me to shut up! You're still the chore boy, and I'll make you swab the deck 100 times over for that!" Naruto yelled back at him
Kinshiki then tapped Ace's arm with his elbow, "Ace-kun, are there any pretty girls in Alabasta?" He asked with a whisper as Lucy turned to face him
"What was that Kinshiki?" She spoke sweetly
"N-Nothing Lucy-chan!" He responded as she bonked him on the head
Russ chuckled, "Serves that perv right!" He exclaimed as Lucy hit him over the head as well
She then flicked back to Yuri and Gem who immediately straightened out in fear of awakening her wrath. "Yuri! Gem! Drag these 5 to the palace!" She ordered, pointing at the dehydrated Kiji, Pedro, and Kiji along with the unconscious Kinshiki and Russ
"W-wait where are you going!" Gem asked the woman as she just smiled
"Rose and I are going to go shopping!" She responded as the two men just gaped at being left to drag the crew
Rose smiled, "I need to get a few parts for little RIM here!" She told them as she tickled the small robot which was in her hand
"I told you Rose, I want to get you some clothes." Lucy interjected and Rose waved it off understanding
"I know I know, wait, that clocktower is moving kinda weird." She said as Ace, Reeve, Yuri, Gem, herself and Lucy looked over
Ace had a confused look, "So who cares." He dismissed the small detail the woman pointed out
"Well Ace what if there's a bomb in there! Timed to go off in 5 minutes!" She said, overreacting and jumping to the wrong conclusion
Everyone just face faulted, "You're kidding right?" Reeve asked her with a raised brow
"Never mind that! There's no bomb in the tower! You boys get moving to the palace we'll meet you there." Lucy told them as she grabbed Rose's hand and dragged her off to the market place
The four boys left there sighed as they got ahold of their other crew mates and began to drag them to the capital building.
A few minutes later. . .
"Well we're finally here!" Ace tiredly expressed as the group had successfully dragged the men up the massive staircase to the palace
Naruto began to stir along with the others. "Don't tell me you're all waking up now after we dragged you all the way up here!" Gem yelled out to them
"I'm not too mad, I needed a workout and dragging Naruto around did just the thing! I think he may have put on a few pounds!" Ace teased his brother as Naruto grew shark teeth
"Shut up you bastard!" Naruto weakly yelled at Ace as he got up to his feet
The others began to get up to their feet and Kinshiki looked back at Russ who seemed to be sleeping now. "Baka marksman!" He said as he kicked the man down the stairs
"You asshole swordsman!" Russ screamed at the man as he tumbled back down the stairs
"So now that we're here do we just wait for someone to come to us?" Kiji asked the rest as Reeve nodded
He looked up at the massive door, "Do we knock?" He questioned
Yuri grinned as he walked up to the door and his arm began to pulse with veins as he prepared to knock before Naruto put his hand up stopping the large man. "Hold on Yuri, this is a castle, we all need to be polite!" He told the crew
The Pirate King then stepped forward and tapped the door with the knuckle of his finger. "You really think they'd hear that!" Reeve questioned his captain before they all started to argue
A creak was then heard as the crew watched as the door slowly tipped over and slammed on the ground inside the palace. Everyone had wide eyes before Ace slapped his brother on the back of his head. "What the hell was that!" He yelled at him
"What I only tapped it!" Naruto tried to explain as guards began to respond to the noise and run down the corridor to the front of the palace to where they were, all of them being led by the warriors Pell and Chaka.
A rugged Russ made his way back up the stairs of the palace and dusted himself off. "I'm back up what's going on?" He then looked at the horde of guards running their way. "Oh lord." He continued shaking his head, facepalming
"At the door!" One of the guards yelled
"Intruders! Get them!" Another spoke
One of them squinted as he looked at the intruders. "Wait is that-" He began
One by one all of the guards began to see who was standing there. "It's the Pirate King!" They all yelled out as they all immediately dropped their weapons and prayed he wouldn't harm them
Pell and Chaka kept their swords in hand as they continued to walk towards them. "I see you've come back Pirate King." Pell began to say
"And you brought your friends with you." Chaka added to the conversation as he looked past Naruto to see the crew standing there
"Oh my goodness Naruto what did you do!" A voice came out from behind everyone as everyone's head snapped around to see Lucy and Rose standing there
Rose looked up and down at where the door used to be. "From the looks of it it would seem he broke down the door." She said chuckling
"Pirate King is that you!?" A voice yelled from down the hall as he ran passed all the shocked guards to where the Pirate King was
"Your majesty!/Father!" Two other voiced said as they followed him
Naruto grinned, "Cobra! How've you been?!" Naruto asked the king of Alabasta as he too smiled
"I've been well my friend! But my old bones can't keep running this kingdom forever! So I've been teaching my daughter everything I know so that she one day may succeed me!" He told the Pirate King as he turned his head ti see the panting Vivi who had chased her father down the hall
"Father. . .Oh! Hello Mr. Naruto!" He squeaked out
Naruto removed his hat and bowed his head, "Your majesty." He said, being respectful of the Alabastian royalty
She looked behind him and went wide eyed, "Ace!?" She yelled out in surprise, seeing her friend
He waved with a smile, "Yo!"
"I thought you were with the Whitebeard Pirates!?" She asked him with shock seeing him with a different crew
He exhaled obviously not liking the subject. "Pops died during the Paramount War and well since then I decided to travel with my brother!" He answered her
She was about to say something else before she was interrupted by Igaram. "I'm sorry to interrupt princess but why have you come here Pirate King?" The captain of the guard asked him
Naruto chuckled, "Well my crew and I just came by to check up on things, make sure that Alabasta is still doing okay. By the way Cobra do you need anything of us?" Naruto questioned the king before Kiji walked up to Naruto's side
"Captain, you're the King of the Pirates! You shouldn't be so eager to answer to another man!" The first mate told his captain as Naruto waved it off
"Ah no worries Kiji! Cobra is a friend! I'm happy to help him and his country!" The Pirate King responded to his first mate
Cobra smiled at that statement. "Well I know you have the ability to manipulate water, I was wondering if it may be possible to make it rain. Just for a couple of hours. My people need some more water and we are no longer in the wet season." Cobra asked as he knelt to the King of the Pirates
"Ah no need to bow my friend! Come on outside and we'll take care of this!" Naruto exclaimed as a party of them left the building but Vivi and Ace stayed behind
Ace looked at her, "Aren't you coming Vivi?" He asked
"W-well I was wondering if you'd like to go and maybe h-hang out?" She asked him nervously
Ace made a toothy grin, "Sure! Why not, besides we can catch up!" He said as they both went opposite of Naruto's party
Outside of the castle with Naruto. . .
"So how much rain we talking Cobra?" Naruto asked back to the King of Alabasta who was being escorted by Pell, Chaka, and Igaram
The King smiled, "Only something a little bit heavier than a light rain." The man answered
After he heard the words, Naruto raised his arm up to the sky and the whole city watched as clouds began to form before droplets of rain descended onto them. "Hey it's raining!" A civilian yelled out
"Hey guys come on out!" Spoke another
Yet another chimed in, "The Pirate King made it rain!"
One by one the populace of Alubarna ran out and began to harvest the rain from the sky and they all cheered for the Pirate King. Naruto kept his hand up and flashed a grin to everyone. "Hey Cobra!" Naruto yelled back
"Yes?" He answered
"That river that runs through the desert. Is it drinkable?" The Pirate King wondered before Pell chimed up
He shook his head. "The river is the same water from the sea. It's flushed with salt and undrinkable." The main guard answered Naruto
He kept his grin up. "In that case, watch this!" He told the group
Everyone watched at the clouds grew darker and heavier rain began to fall until it looked as though an ocean was about to fall on top of the city. "W-what! That's too much!" Chaka yelled out
"You'll destroy the city!" Igaram told the Pirate King
Naruto lowered his hand as the giant amount of water was still falling before he brought his arm back and shot it out forwards out towards the desert. Everyone watched as the area around Naruto's hand began to crack before a giant crack opened up in the ground and went all the way to just before the river. The water still fell towards them and as it was about to hit the ground on which they stood, Naruto pushed it out away and into the crack.
"There we are! A brand new river of fresh water!" The Captain of the Whirlpool Pirates spoke to everyone
All of the people of Alabasta stood there in shock and awe at what the Pirate King had just managed to accomplish. "He was able to summon an ocean out of the sky and split open the earth with his very hands! Does his power hold no limit!?" Pell asked out loud as Cobra fell to his knees
"That's our captain! Always one to show off!" Reeve exclaimed to everyone as Yuri grinned
Cobra began to rise back up to his feet. "Thank you Pirate King, with this the people of Alabasta will never have to worry about water any longer!" Cobra thanked as Naruto rubbed the back of his head
People began to celebrate as a few men ran through the city and stopped right in front of the group. "Boss! Boss!" Yelled a man
Naruto turned to see that it was a few of his own men that had stayed in Alabasta to make sure that no Pirates came and caused harm to the country. "What's up guy?" Naruto asked them with a raised brow
"Boss! Commanders!" Another said catching his breath, this time addressing all of the crew
Lucy grew annoyed and she grabbed the man by the ear. "C'mon out with it!" She told him
One of them finally catched his breath. "There's a person on the top of the Palace! He's burning our flag!" He yelled out to the group
"What!" Kiji barked as he walked over to the man. The fishman offered his arm for the man to rest on before continuing to speak, "Are you sure of this?!" Kiji asked him and the man nodded rapidly
"Look for yourself Commander!" He finished as they all looked to see the flag beside the Alabastian coat of arms burning
"Aint no one gonna burn down our flag and get way with it!" Russ exclaimed as he brought out his rifle and took aim at the figure
Russ smiled, "Just say the word and they'll be down for the count Cap'n!" The marksman told him as Naruto raised a brow
"Wait. I'll go up and have a look for myself." Naruto said as he ran at the palace and jumped off of ledges and things to get to the top to where the figure was
It took the Pirate King a second but he had eventually gotten to the top of the castle and confronted the hooded figure. "Hey!" He shouted getting the figures attention. "What's all this with burning down my flag? We worked hard on making that thing." Naruto told the figure as he bent down and examined the ashes
"S-stay right there!" The figure stuttered out as they raised a blade against him
'What the hell. That voice, it sounds so young.' Naruto thought as he looked intently at the figure as the wind blew rapidly around them waving the figures hood back and forth
"How old are you kid?" Naruto asked the figure as the stuttered again
Right on queue the wind blew enough of his hood back revealing a face of a child. "Hey that's Ricky!" One of the civilians yelled from below
"Who?" Kinshiki asked her
"He's an orphan that lives in the capital. His parents were killed because of the famine Crocodile brought and he's been alone ever since. That poor boy has fought tooth and nail just to survive for the past couple of years, I hope he'll be fine!" Another explained to Kinshiki
Gem adjusted his sunglasses, "Well he did just burn down the Captain's Jolly Roger. What's up with that?" He asked
"Isn't it obvious, he hates pirates." Lucy told Gem as she kept looking at the two at the top of the building
"Makes sense, his parents were killed by that Crocodile bastard! But doesn't mean he can go round threatening our Cap'n without consequences. I'm ready to sent one right passed his nose." Russ told her as he aimed his rifle
Back at the top Naruto leaned up against the erected piece of quartz that held the flag originally. "So mind telling me why you just burnt down my Jolly Roger?" He asked the boy
"You're a Pirate! I won't let another Crocodile ruin my home! It's because of him that my parents died and I won't let any harm come to any more Alabastians! I-I'll stop you right here!" Ricky proclaimed to Naruto as the Pirate King watched his knife closely as he saw the blade flicker black
'Armament haki eh?' He thought, watching the blade. He then spoke, "I'm not like Crocodile kid. I've come to make sure that people like him don't come back here. trust me I'm on your side."
"No! All you Pirates are alike!" He yelled back as wind and rain began to come down harder
The mass of people gathered watched as a bolt of lightning shot down just behind the two on the top of the palace and into the an empty building which destroyed it. "It's not safe up here kid! Let's go down!" Naruto told him as Ricky stood his ground
Seeing the lightning shooting down in the distance, Ricky swallowed his pride and began to walk down the way he came before he slipped and fell and began to slide down the edge of the palace. Naruto ran after the boy before he slid himself and held his arm off the edge of the palace roof and held the boy mid-air with his Devil-Fruit.
"Hey! Your name is Ricky right?!" Naruto asked the boy who nodded a bit
"I know you don't like Pirates but I need you to trust me okay!" He continued to say to the boy as he began to pull him back up
As he was doing so Ricky went wide eyed as he looked behind him. Naruto quickly followed his gaze and saw what he was looking at, which was the formation of a lightning bolt that was right above them. His eyes then began to glow red as he used his observation haki and then looked back at Ricky. "Hold on okay, I'll be right there." He told Ricky as he let go of the boy and he began to fall again
Within a split second Naruto stood up straight and relaxed his body and closed his eyes. He extended both of his arms connected together with his palms to the sky and everyone watched as the lightning hit his palms. To everyone's surprise Naruto was not burnt to a crisp upon getting hit by it, instead he lowered one of his hands to his stomach as he was hit with the lightning and the wild energy followed from one hand to the other through his body before he extended his hand he had brought to his chest outwards towards the desert in a point as the lightning transferred through him and shot out of his hand.
Right after the Pirate King had jumped off of the building and caught the still falling Ricky and landed safely on the ground and placed Ricky down. The man then used his powers to stop the rain and bring out the sun once again.
Everyone began to flock towards the man in thanks but young Ricky just stood there in shock. 'Why would he do that. . .for me?' He thought to himself as he looked at the grin the man who saved him had on his face as he laughed with his crew
'I never knew Pirates would want to save lives without money on the line. . .maybe he's. . .different?' Ricky continued to question in his head
Alright I know I'm a little late on this chapter I've just had a lot on my plate recently. Anyway things are suppose to lighten up soon and well I was thinking that I would try my best to get out another chapter this weekend so that I can finally kick off Skypiea. I have decided that I won't be writing it like the past timeskip chapters were it's one chapter per island. Instead it'll be like 2 or 3 so I hope you're cool with that!
