Bella PoV
For the first time in a very, very long time my sleep was peaceful. I didn't dream the nightmare of Edward and Jacob fighting each other. This time I dreamt of being on the beach of LaPush.
I watched the waves of the ocean roll in while the sun began to set. And I wasn't alone. When I turned my head, Jake was lying beside me but not in his human form. He had turned into his wolf form and was lying on all fours, his head placed on his two front paws, watching the ocean with me. His red fur moved in the wind and when I stretched out and touched it, it felt soft. He turned his head lightly and watched me from the corner of his eyes, Jake's eyes. Then he closed them, sighing as I stroked his fur.
It was a peaceful dream and when I woke up, I felt rested and relaxed. I was sweating, shirt and trouser clinging tight to my body but I didn't want to move yet. The feeling of his body against mine, the constant rising and falling of his chest felt way too good. I placed a small kiss on his shoulder and was greeted by a low chuckle that ran through his body.
"It's a good thing it's a Saturday. I would have hated to wake you up to go to school." His dark voice sounded in my ears before he nuzzled the side of my head. "Good morning beautiful."
"Morning." I yawned. "What time is it?"
"Still too early to move." He laughed lightly and moved so he was on his side, his head facing mine. His hands drew the outlines of my face, a soft touch that caused goosebumps all over my arms.
"You cold?"
"No, way too warm. It's nice to have your own personal heater but sometimes it's a little too much", I answered, cuddling closer to him. "I should maybe call Charlie, to check in with him."
"My dad already did that. Charlie said you should enjoy the day. He'll come over and get you at dinner."
"I'll cook if you want. I don't know about your dad, but I know you don't cook and the same goes for Charlie. Seems to be a man thing around here."
"Why cook when you can live perfectly healthy with bacon and eggs and microwave dinner? Plus, the meal Sue Clearwater brings over sometimes."
I winked at him. "You know what? You can help me tonight. I'll teach you the basics so your menu will expand a little." Jake made a face and groaned loudly. "I should have never brought that topic up."
"Well, see it that way. Teaching you how to cook is a perfect excuse to come over and see you. Not even Charlie can argue with that." I suggested, trying to sweeten the deal for him. "It won't be anything difficult. More like spaghetti and roasted meat and things like that. That's easy stuff." I didn't know if it was the thought of seeing each other more often or the thought of being finally able to eat something else than bacon and microwave meals (I'd like to think the latter but most probably it was the first) but Jake seemed convinced and didn't argue anymore. "So, considering we have the whole day to ourselves, what do you want to do?"
I thought about it. "Cliff diving?" I grinned as Jake rolled his eyes. "I thought we already are past that. Maybe something else?"
Hmm... Now that I really thought about it, I didn't know what I wanted to do. We were always hanging around the garage or wandering at the beach except from the time we hiked through the woods, trying to find the meadow Edward and I had been to several times. And with my other "friends" we didn't do much apart from going to the movies once or twice and strolling around the city.
Then it came to me. What we were always doing was spending time outside, doing something. We were walking or hiking or fixing the bikes. What I really wanted was something else. Something normal people did.
"How about a staying-at-home-and-do-nothing-except-eat-popcorn-drink-soda-and-watch-movies-day?" I pointed at the weather outside which was, typical for Forks, cloudy and not very inviting.
Jake seemed surprised but didn't argue. He seemed to like the idea of just being like everyone else, doing something normal couples did when they had no other plans.
"We would just have to drive to the supermarket so I can get all the ingredients for our dinner and we stack up on junk food and soda", I added.
He grinned and kissed me on the tip of my nose. "Once more, you surprise me, Isabella Swan. But as I said we'll do anything you like today. Let's just stay in bed for a few minutes more."
The few minutes turned into a full sixty minutes but at the end we got up, dressed (I wore my own clothes from yesterday which were now dry) and informed Billy of our plan. He seemed happy enough and said he would visit one of his friends from the reservation to give us some space.
We took my truck down to the supermarket. Despite Jake's protest I took the driver's seat because it was "My truck and my rules."
At the supermarket, Jacob drove the shopping cart while I picked everything for our meal tonight. As promised, I would do something easy and so it would be spaghetti with a simple tomato sauce and meat balls. We also stocked up on the junk food and soda, laughing as we selected everything unhealthy that caught our eyes.
In the end we went out with two bags and a large separate bottle of soda which Jake let me wear while he took care of the bags.
"You know, you have a pretty awesome dad", I said as we made our way back to the reservation. "He makes fantastic teas and lets you sleep alone with a girl. Charlie would have probably driven you out with his gun if we tried this at home."
Jacob chuckled. "Yeah, now he is nice, but you should have seen him when my sisters and I were young. It seemed to us he had a sixth sense because whenever we did something stupid like sneaking away at night or stealing cookies he knew immediately. My back still hurts from the times he used his stick on me."
"Maybe you just shouldn't have sneaked away at night or stole cookies?" I suggested which made him laugh.
When we arrived at his house, three people were already gathered outside. I knew two of them, Embry and Quil. The third one seemed a little bit younger than the others although he was just as muscular as them. When he approached my car to greet us, I thought I recognised his eyes.
"You are the wolf I saw yesterday", I began carefully while Jake unloaded the truck. The boy grinned. "Yup. I'm surprised you recognise me." He held out his hand. "Seth Clearwater, at your service." When I took it, a mischievous sparkle came to his eyes. "Nice patting by the way" he added loud enough for Jacob to hear.
Of course, his head snapped around immediately, and he narrowed his eyes. "What patting?"
Seth grinned. "Didn't you know? When we were waiting for you yesterday, Bella was kind enough to give me a few strokes. She's quite a nice girl, you know. And has very gentle hands."
A growl escaped from Jake's lungs, low enough to make anyone nervous but Seth merely continued to grin. "Don't worry, I am not gonna take her from you. Although a little more patting now and then would be rather nice."
This was enough for Jacob to hand Embry the bags and come to my side in a heartbeat. He protectively put an arm around my shoulder and drew me to his side, a little too rough but I let it slip. "Don't even think about it, Seth. She's my girlfriend. If you want someone to pat you; you should find your own."
I blushed at the word girlfriend but that was what we were now, weren't we? Girlfriend and boyfriend. I couldn't say I didn't like the idea.
"Enough you two." Embry had decided it was time to interfere before something serious was going to happen. He looked at the bags still in his hands. "What's this by the way?"
"Dinner. And movie food." I replied, thankful for the change of topic. "Jake and I wanted to make a movie day, just staying in and eat unhealthy food while we laugh at silly jokes and everything."
Again, Seth spoke up. This kid obviously had no sense of tact whatsoever. "Awesome." He spoke, already eyeing the bags. "What are we watching?"
"I never said you are invited", Jacob growled, really annoyed by the young werewolf. Now it was my time to step up by putting a hand on his arm. "Let him come. The more the merrier. And we did buy enough to feed a few more mouths." I looked at Embry and Quil. "You want to join?"
So instead of two, five people were gathered in Billy's living room. As there was only one recliner and one couch, which Jacob claimed for me and himself at once, Seth lingered on the floor, Embry took the recliner and Quil brought a chair from the dining table.
I passed around the food and the soda and watched with amusement how the four of them ate the candy and the chips as if there was no tomorrow. I was happy with a bowl of popcorn which I made in the microwave and a glass of coke. The boys were debating which movie to watch while I waited for the popcorn to get ready. It was oddly satisfying to watch them argue and vote for this film or that one. Like a big family. I understood now what Jake meant when he referred to them as his brothers. As a single child raised by either a single mother or a single father, I wasn't used to living with a big family but I thought it would be nice to be part of one.
"Hey Bella." Embry shouted from his recliner. "You coming? Seth is already putting in the movie and he won't wait." Yup, it would definitely be very nice.
