"Alright, students!" Takeda's voice rang out through the classroom, silencing the chattering teens. "A couple of weeks ago was eventful, and you all got a break from me after that. But now we need to focus on school if you all want to graduate." He shuffled a few papers around and pulled out a pen. "Which also means you all need to do something very important."
The class held its collective breath. Whenever Takeda said it was important, it meant it was important. Especially for their future careers.
"We need to pick a class rep and their vice rep." Takeda sheepishly rubbed the back of his head. "I just realized this morning that we hadn't done that yet." He grinned. "So who wants to be class rep?"
Everyone raised their hands. Being a classroom representative never meant anything in a normal school. But in UA, being a representative meant that you were dependable, a leader, and basically ready to become a hero. Which meant that everyone wanted to be a class rep.
"How about we hold a vote?" a quiet voice said near the back of the classroom. All eyes shifted toward the voice: Yamaguchi. The shy boy noticed all of the attention on him, and he sunk down in his seat. "I mean, it's only fair."
"Great idea, Yamaguchi," Takeda complimented. "We'll hold a vote. And no cheating, guys. No voting for yourselves."
After the voting, Takeda counted the votes. Then counted again. And again.
"Well, it looks like we had four votes for Yamaguchi, and two votes for Yachi," Takeda announced. "Everyone else had either one or zero votes." He beckoned Yamaguchi and Yachi in front of the class. "Everyone congratulate our new class reps."
The class gave a small, polite round of applause. Yachi was bright red, while Yamaguchi was trembling like an earthquake passed through under his feet. Though, they were both smiling. Winning the vote meant that people trusted them. They both separately vowed to be the best class representatives in all of UA.
"Now," Takeda interrupted the moment, "there's another important matter at hand." The class held their breath once again. "The UA sports festival is in a few weeks." He paused again, probably waiting for an answer. When none came, he cleared his throat. "Um, okay, you all will be competing against your classmates and other classes. If you all get at least top fifteen, you can stay in 1A, but I will expel anyone who gets below that." He smiled. "Good luck, everyone!"
