Nanashi panicked, feeling and seeing Youko shove her hard away from him and onto the floor in one instant, but in the next instant, launched himself at her. He went for her neck, teeth bared in an unexpected fright. She brought her hand up reflexively to block him. He snapped his teeth at her in distaste, almost biting her hand, but pulled back just before biting her hand. Then he shoved her down on her back, making her wince as her bumped down onto the floor. She felt dazed by that. He raised his upper body over hers, a wild, savage look in his eyes. He pinned her down by the upper arms with so much force that it hurt. He looked like he was struggle to restrain himself. His nails dug into her skin, a few nails pricking her skin and drawing droplets of blood. She could smell the blood in the air. He took a deep inhale in his nose and then shook his head like a wild animal. His hands were shaking. His lips looked wetter than they should have been. His eyes bounced back and forth between her neck and chest.
"Youko...?" she said his name questioningly, hoping he would not harm her anymore than he already had. She debated in her mind whether or not to bring the wind serpent up or not, holding herself back from it.
She regretted her restraint in the end. He brought his eye teeth down on the top of her left breast, the closest part of her to his mouth. His teeth sunk deep, making her scream out in surprise and terror. She tried to pull away from him, but he pinned her down fast, not allowing her to get away. He sucked deeply on the wound he created, making her stomach twist in disgust. She tried to move her hands to shove him off, but he tightened his grip on her arms, all the more painful. She raised her leg up, kicking at him. He merely grunted and continued to drink her blood. It was almost like he was in an uncontrollable trance.
"Blue roses," she rushed out, giving in to using the safe word. Nothing changed. "Blue roses Blue roses, blue roses, blue roses," she repeated over and over again. Nothing changed. "Damn it," she swore.
She reached for her wind serpent, bringing it up around her neck, hoping that was all she had to do. He noticed. He pulled away from her chest, blood trickling down from the side of his lip untouched. He snarled at her, teeth stained with glints of red.
"Mine," he growled like a swear word.
He brought his right hand away from her arm, reaching for the wind serpent intentionally. He grabbed it by the middle, making her head sway and stomach swoon. He squeezed tight around it, yanking on it as if to restrain her.
"Bite..." she willed, feeling like she was going to be sick.
The wind serpent managed to twist its head around, fangs burying deep in his forearm, deeper than his own had in her chest. He pulled back from her in a flash, flinching away from her and the wind serpent. He cradled his right forearm in his left hand, sitting up straight on his hunches. His arm bled noticeably. He then brought his left hand up to his forehead, gasping like he had a migraine. He hunched his back, hanging his head so she could not see his face. She drew away from him, stomach still queasy. She looked down at her chest quickly, seeing a red line trickle down her chest.
"Run," his voice was his human voice, not his demon voice. "Quickly," he struggled out.
She widened her eyes, seeing him ball himself up on the floor, growling like a wounded animal. She stumbled up, legs wobbling as she sprinted to the bathroom, slamming and locking the door behind her. She leaned against the door, sinking down to the floor, back against the door and knees drawn up. She felt sobs choke through her, clawing their way out of her throat. Her chest ached and her upper arms hurt fiercely. More than anything, fear shook her. She could not hear anything else coming from the bedroom, making her ear strain for any sound that he pursued her. She said the safe word, yet he kept biting her, drinking her blood. The image of him doing that, plus the sound of his sucking in her mind's eye, made her shake.
She brought control over herself, rising up on wobbly, tired legs. She went over to the sink, looking herself over in the mirror. She noticed the bite mark on her chest and claw marks on her shoulders. She felt her temper flare at the sight of them. She reached over to the towel rack, seeing two towels tucked next to each on it. She yanked one down in a flare, wrapping it around herself minus her left breast. She then reached for the other towel, bringing it over to the sink. She turned the faucet on, running hot water over the edge of the towel and adding soap to it from the next to the sink. She cleaned the chest wound first. It smarted and kept bleeding as she worked. Clearly he had sunk his teeth in as deep as they could go. At least the bleeding was slowing down. She started tending to claw marks on her left arm next.
She heard a soft rap on the bathroom door, making her jump from her spot by the sink. "Nanashi, could you let me in, please?" his human voice called out to her softly.
She turned to look at the door handle, shaking her head tiredly.
"I will not attack you," he promised.
He was human now... She shifted her weight shakily, keeping her wind serpent just beneath her neck, ready to reach for it at a moment's warning. She set the wet and bloodied towel down by the sink. She stepped over to the door, only unlocking it, but nothing else. She went back to sink, tending to her left arm. She heard the door open, making her tense up. She did not look back. She saw him step up behind her in the mirror, a pair of pajama bottoms on and looking distraught. She said nothing, nor did he. She avoided making eye contact with him. She could tell though that he was focused on the bite mark on her chest. She finished with her left arm and went to tend to her right arm.
He stepped closer to her, far too close. His hand covered hers that held the wet part of the towel to clean off her shoulder. She recoiled, turning and stepping away from him without looking at his face. She still had the towel in her hand. She stepped back from him towards the wall by the sink.
"I have herbs I can give you to help with those wounds..." he breathed out solemnly.
She felt something snap inside of her. "I don't want anything from you," she told him. Her voice echoed loudly in the bathroom. She slipped her way around him, turning away from him and back to the sink. She cleaned at the wound at her right arm, trying to keep her temper at bay. She felt a headache coming over her, making her too tired for this. "I just want to stop bleeding and then go home," she decided. Her arms stopped bleeding, but her chest still was, much to her annoyance.
"You can't-" he started.
She dropped the towel in the sink and rounded on him. "I'm not staying here," she hissed. She left him standing stark still and went back into the bedroom.
She went over to where her pants from earlier lay, annoyed to notice there were claw marks on the top of them, either side the hips. She went to her own overnight bag, digging out the shirt, bra, and panties she wanted to wear for tomorrow rather than the pajamas. She pulled on her panties and pants, spooked for a second at a flash of lightning illuminating the room. An angry crack of thunder followed suit. She stood up, pulling on her bra, wincing as it slid on her claw marks and bite mark. The bite still bled, much to her annoyance. She would just have to deal with it when she got home.
"You can't go out in this storm. It isn't safe. You saw on the news," he said with the softest, smoothest tone.
She looked up at him, standing stock still in the bathroom doorway. She held her shirt in her hands. "Safer than in here with you, apparently," she threw.
He looked down and away from her. "When he tasted blood on your lips, he lost control. He fought it... he did not want to... Instincts took over-" He was making excuses.
"Not he, you," she corrected irritably. "He's part of you. You did that. I said that stupid safe word, and you kept on, ugh," she gnashed her teeth, shaking her head at the image and feeling of him sucking on the bite mark. "I'm not staying here with you after that."
"I understand your fear," he said soothingly. "And you have every reason to be upset right now. On top of how exhausted you must be feeling. But you should stay here for the night and we can talk in the morning. Take the bed and I will take the floor. I promise you I will explain everything in the morning."
He took a few cautious steps closer to her. When she back up from him, he stood still. "Not the same room," she said, shaking her head.
"You will stay if I sleep on the couch in the living room instead then?" he offered. "And then we will talk in the morning.
She felt too tired to argue, especially after glancing at how hard the rain was coming down outside the window. "Fine," she agreed reluctantly.
He left the room at that, coming back only briefly to offer her bandages for her. She gave in and used one for the bite mark since it was still bleeding. She made sure when she slept in his bed by herself to lay on her back. She also made sure to set an alarm on her phone for early in the morning, which she used to aid her to slip out of the apartment while he was still sleeping.
