Just to warn y'all this chapter contains hella fluff and soft Draco
Adeleine waited in the Ravenclaw common room until 10 pm arrived. She had no idea what the blond haired boy was planning, but she was excited-- and also slightly nervous.
The Ravenclaw common room was empty. The first years that had stayed had already gone to sleep because they were tentative on following the curfew. No Ravenclaw had stayed that was in the seventh year so the whole tower had been oddly quiet and deserted.
"Hey" Adeleine greeted the tall dark figure that was leaning against the railings in the Astronomy tower.
The large figure immediately turned around and had a large grin on his face, "You're early."
"Yeah, well I think early is on time and on time is late" Adeleine explained with slightly pink cheeks which she wasn't sure if it wasn't from her blush or the cold wind.
It was just now that Adeleine saw the Astronomy tower was illuminated with white candles and on the floor sat a large blanket with a few pillows. There was a large telescope by the large blanket and it looked like it had been moved from its original place.
"Please sit" Draco said nervously as he gestured to the pillows and blankets.
"Wow" Adeleine breathed out as she looked around, "Draco, this is amazing."
"Thanks" Draco murmured as the pair sat down on the cushiony pillows and warm blankets.
"So, what are we doing out here?" Adeleine asked.
"Well," Draco started, letting the howl of the wind eat up the silence, "I asked the house elves in the kitchens to prepare us some stuff and I got us a little picnic."
"Aww" Adeleine cooed. "That's amazing, thanks."
Draco brought out the picnic basket and opened it, revealing all the delicious little snacks that the house elves prepared.
"Strawberry tarts!" Adeleine cheered.
"Your favorite" Draco muttered almost silently, but Adeleine heard it.
"How did you know?" she asked.
"Erm" Draco rubbed his head nervously. "Well I just noticed that you eat it for dessert after dinner every single day and you know, I just assumed it was your favorite."
Adeleine thought it was slightly creepy, but overall it was sweet. She smiled softly at Draco and involuntarily dropped her hands on his. She saw Draco stiffen and she thought that she might have made him uncomfortable, but he put his hands on top of hers.
"Here eat" Draco said as he handed her a strawberry tart. Adeleine happily took the tart and ate a big bite of it.
"We could of had a picnic anywhere" Adeleine says after she finishes chewing. "Why up in the Astronomy tower?"
"Well Theo might've mentioned that you wanted to see the Christmas Star so I put the telescope over there and we'll just wait until midnight to look at Saturn and Jupiter."
"This is amazing Draco" she said and the name just rolled off her tongue. Draco hummed in contentment, feeling his heart flutter as she said his first name.
"Do I call you Adeleine then?" Draco asked quietly.
"Sure" Adeleine said with a hesitant nod. It was not that she didn't want him to, but it was that it felt weird. She wasn't used to it, but if they were going to try to be together she was going to have to get used to it.
It was a good weird. She admired the way her name sounded on his tongue, how he said it in his deep voice. The way that his Adam's apple bobbed up and down. It was the voice that played in her mind that seemed so close and yet so far away.
"Okay" Draco nodded, "Adeleine."
"You wanna eat something?" Adeleine asked and Draco hesitantly nodded.
Draco was not very hungry. They had eaten dinner a few hours ago and Draco had gotten used to not eating much. It was stupid of him to assume that Adeleine would eat it all.
"Here" she popped a strawberry in his mouth and watched him choke slightly, but he bit into the red fruit. Some of the juices dripped down and out of his mouth. Out of instinct Adeleine wiped away the fruit juice and put the thumb into her mouth, sucking off the remains.
Draco gulped as he watched lick her thumb. He wasn't sure if it was meant to be seductive or not, but it looked like she had fun teasing him as she swirled her tongue around the tip of her thumb. Draco wanted so much to pin her down and snog her till they couldn't breathe, but he had to do things slow.
"Thanks" Draco murmured, clearing the tension in the air.
"Wow the elves really outdid themselves" Adeleine nodded, looking impressed by the selection. "Here I want to try something."
"What?"
"Just open your mouth" Adeleine instructed and Draco did what he was told and parted his lips.
Adeleine giggled as she grabbed a bowl of blueberries and she tossed one at Draco's mouth which his the corner of his lip.
"What are you doing?" he asked, slightly confused as to why he was getting blueberries thrown at him.
"Catch them in your mouth" she said with a chuckle at the end and Draco nodded in understanding, parting his lips once more.
Adeleine tossed another blueberry at his mouth, but there was a reason she didn't play quidditch as the blueberry ended up hitting his eye.
"How do you even toss it there?" he asked as he wiped the water away from his eye.
"God I'm awful at this" Adeleine laughed as she set down the bowl.
"Come on, one more" Draco said.
"Alright" she agreed and chucked a blueberry at his mouth. Draco caught the blueberry in his mouth and Adeleine squealed from pure excitement like she had just won the quidditch cup.
Adeleine impulsively jumped onto Draco, wrapping him in a big hug with her arms hanging off his shoulders. Draco chuckled, all nervous feelings leaving his body as he wrapped his arms around her.
The sat comfortably next to each other as Draco's arm was wrapped around her waist and the snuggled into the blankets, watching the stars twinkle in the night sky.
"Do you know all of them?" Draco asked. "All of the constellations."
"Of course" she said strongly with no hesitation.
"Alright then" Draco nodded with a smirk. "Let's have a competition" he said.
"Okay" Adeleine agreed.
"Let's see who can name the most constellations and if it's one you can see it in the sky then you have to point to it" Draco explained the rules and Adeleine nodded in agreement.
"I'll go first" she said. "That right there my friend is Ursa Major."
Draco nodded, slightly impressed. "And that one is Bootes."
"Coma Berenices" Adeleine pointed to the sky.
"Lyra" Draco said and Adeleine seethed through her teeth.
"That's wrong" Adeleine said, "That ones Lynx. How could you not know that? You did Lyra for your project."
Draco shrugged, "Guess I forgot."
Adeleine involuntarily snuggled closer to Draco, their bodies pressing together as she rested her head on his chest. She let out a contented sigh, never wanting to move from her position and just staying in that moment forever with her— she didn't even know that to call him.
"Leo" Adeleine said, "and our good friend Leo Minor."
"You can't say two!" Draco protested.
"Well than you can't purposely get them wrong" Adeleine shot back with a smirk on her lips. Draco looked slight shocked before smirking back at the brown haired girl.
"Come here" Draco said as she flipped her so that he was on top of her. Draco wrapped his hands around her waist and began to tickle at her hips. Adeleine's eyes budge wide as she let out loud fits of laughter and giggles.
"No stop" she begged, panting slightly. "Please."
"Do you yield?" he asked in almost a growl.
"Never" she yelled as he began to tickle her more robustly causing her to jerk in his grasp. She kicked her legs, but missed him by a few inches.
Draco merely shrugged, "It's your funeral then."
Adeleine's laughter could be heard throughout the castle, but no one was awake to hear it. Not even Filch was awake because Draco had asked special permission from McGonagall to do this. McGonagall seemed ever so eager to let them as she smirked at the portrait of Albus Dumbledore, saying "You owe me 10 galleons."
"Fine! Fine! I yield" she gave in as the tickles stopped and she could finally breathe again.
Draco smiled at the girl under him, his eyes drifting downward to her lips. He felt himself leaning in slightly as she looked up at him with her innocent sapphire eyes. Adeleine's heard tilted on its own accord as it moved closer to Draco's lips. Draco's lips grazed her own, barely touching as they jumped apart from a loud noise that sounded like a clock.
"It's 12:00!" Adeleine exclaimed as she got out from under Draco to run to the telescope.
Draco huffed in disappointment, but softly smiled at the girl who's as so eager to see the Christmas Star. He wished he could have kissed her, but they would have all the time in the world for that, but only this once in a life time chance to see the star. It only happened every 400 years or so.
"Wow" Adeleine breathed out as she watched through the telescope, Saturn and Jupiter close together, looking as through the were connected. "Come check it out Draco."
Draco groaned as he got up from the warm blankets and walked over to the telescope. He bent down and watched through the telescope. "Damn" he nodded, impressed.
"Once every 400 years" Adeleine said with a smile brighter than any star. "The next thing I want to see is the Aurora Borealis."
"Really?" Draco questioned.
"Yes. I've seen them in pictures, but never in person. They look beautiful. I've never been" Adeleine explained with a heavy sigh at the end.
"Then I'll take you" he answered.
"You would?" Adeleine asked with a soft smile gracing her lips. Her heart fluttered and the swarm of butterflies in her stomach grew.
"Definitely" Draco said. "So, do you have some sort of bucket list?"
"Yes something like that" Adeleine nodded, slightly embarrassed. She could feel her cheeks reddening by the second and went to cover her face shyly.
Draco grabbed her hands, moving them away from her face and holding them in his own. "Don't do that. You look beautiful."
Adeleine swore her heart stopped beating for a second as a large smile stretched over her lips. "So what's on your bucket list?"
"Well I've always wanted to see a supernova or find out what happens when you get sucked into a black hole" she said and Draco chuckled at her.
"You do realize that isn't possible right" he said.
"I know, but a girl can dream" she shrugged as they sat back down on the blankets.
Adeleine turned to Draco who was looking back at her with an unreadable expression. His eyes kept flicking down to her lips and then back up to her eyes. "Adeleine" Draco breathed out.
"Yes?" she asked, her breaths shallow.
"Can I kiss you now?" he asked, cupping her jaw with his large hand.
"Yes" she answered again as he molded his lips with hers into a sweet and loving kiss.
