A/N: One of the follies of doing an interlude story alongside the main one, is that sometimes, small details, like the characters appearance get overlooked. At least that's the problem I realized in my own work. There will be a chapter in 'Last year' where Gohan gets a haircut, but I haven't written it yet. I apologize and that is a massive oversight on my part. Anyway, just wanted to describe Gohan's appearance since he is the main character. He is about as tall as Goku was in his fight against Piccolo junior which I'm saying is a little taller than Vegeta without hair but shorter than current Goku. His haircut is similar to his hair while in ultimate form with the one bang. Again, sorry about that. Please enjoy the chapter anyway.
Warning: This chapter contains Vegeta being Vegeta. Read at your own risk.

Chapter 36: Grudge match
Last time on unnecessarily long title: Son Gohan
"I'm hardly a Saiyan eh? Maybe your right, I don't care for senseless killing like you. But remind me of something, because I seem to have forgotten…" Goku dropped into his power up stance. "HaaaaaaaaaaAAAAAHHH!" He started his scream low, and when his raised his voice he was engulfed in a fiery yellow aura and lightning crackled around him. Vegeta raised an eyebrow, grudgingly impressed by the power display. "Which one of us became a super Saiyan first? Because if memory serves, it sure wasn't you."
Vegeta's cocky smile turned to an angry scowl. "Tell me Kakarot, what would happen if I were to kill you while you are already dead?"
"I would disappear from existence. Forever." Goku replied solemnly.
This brought the smile right back to Vegetas face. "Perfect."
This time on I wish I had come up with a better name: Son Gohan
Shin looked at Goku, disbelief etched on his face. "Goku!? What are you doing?"
Goku ignored the Kai. "So, what do you say Vegeta? One final match, just you and me. Let's find out once and for all who the strongest full blooded Saiyan really is. And this time, if you win… it's for good."
The two saiyans stared each other down as the wind kicked up the sand from around them.
"Hm. Hmhm. Heheheh! AHAHAHAHAAHAHAA!" Vegeta threw his head back and laughed like a mad man. "Ho, you really are a clown."
"What's the matter Vegeta? Scared that even with your new power you'll still lose?" Goku taunted.
"Dad, what are you trying to do? Just let me fight him." Gohan knew that he could take Vegeta even with the power up. His dad on the other hand. He could tell that he was strong, but unless he was holding back… it would be a close match. Too close for Gohan's liking. Especially if what his father had said was true and this time really was for keeps.
"NO!" Shin interjected. "We are wasting time! We cannot fight amongst ourselves here! Babidi is now unguarded! Now is the time to strike! Vegeta, if What you say is true, and Babidi really has no control over you, then prove it. Let's stop him now!"
"Supreme Kai, take Gohan and finish the mission." Goku and Vegeta hadn't taken their eyes off each other.
"But Goku-"
"Both of you go now!" He shouted. "I'll keep Vegeta busy." 'And maybe then you'll see Shin. Now Gohan will prove just how wrong you are about him.'
"Hold on just a moment." Vegeta said. "I don't remember agreeing to this little fight of yours."
"Oh?" Goku asked smugly. "So, you really are scared after all. I'd never pegged you as a coward Vegeta."
"Heh, your attempts at goading me are amusing, but pathetic. Believe me, the prospect of erasing you from existence is a tempting offer, but why should I lower myself when there's a real challenge to be had from him." He pointed to Gohan. "But don't worry, I'll make sure that when we're done, I'll make time for you and your purple girlfriend next."
"Dad, let me fight him." Gohan pled. "I can take him. You and Shin can finish what you came here to do."
For the first time, Goku broke eye contact with Vegeta to look at his son. "No, Gohan. It's alright. You need to be the one to stop Babidi."
"But dad!"
"Son." Goku spoke softly, but firmly. "I know that life hasn't been easy for you. You had to become a fighter rather than living peacefully as a scholar. I know that a lot of that is my fault, all the way back to Raditz. But I just want you to know that I couldn't be prouder of the man that you've become. Now go! Go and save the universe." Gohan stood still for a moment. Finally, he turned to Shin.
"Come on. Let's go."
"But-" Shin tried to protest but ceased at the look the teen gave him.
"Isn't time of the essence?" Gohan pointed out. Shin was torn. If it wasn't for the stubbornness of these saiyans this whole mess would be resolved already. But now, it seemed that this was the only option. He nodded reluctantly and followed Gohan into the air. But before they left, Goku called out one last time.
"One last thing Gohan." The boy turned around. "Fighting isn't the most important thing to me. It's you. You, your mother and brother. You always have been. Just remember that no matter what happens, you always will be." With that last remark, Goku turned to face Vegeta. The prince, however, was no longer looking at him. Instead, he was staring and growling at the retreating form of Gohan.
"Where do you think you're going boy!?" He yelled and took off after his preferred opponent. Before he could reach the young warrior, Goku teleported to block his path.
Vegeta wasn't about to stop. "OUT OF MY WAY CLOWN!" He tried to knock Goku out of the way with a backhand but the other Saiyan ducked underneath it and returned fire with a punch to the cheek. The hit was harder than the prince expected, and it sent him flying back into the sand. Goku landed as Vegeta stood back up.
"Perhaps you'll be more of a challenge than I expected." Vegeta laughed. "But I'll enjoy wiping you from this, and every other plane of existence later." He took off again, intent on pursuing Gohan. Just like Before, Goku used instant transmission to stop him. He appeared at Vegeta's side and grabbed onto his arm. He started to swing him around, but just as the prince was about to free himself, Goku used instant transmission, disorienting his opponent with the technique and when they arrived at their destination, he was thrown into a giant rock pillar. The rock crumbled around Vegeta as Goku floated with a satisfied look on his face.
The boulders on top of Vegeta started to rumble and slowly rise up. "HRRRAAAAAAGGH!" Vegeta shouted forcing some rocks to fly away while others just disintegrated from his power. "You dare!?" He glared at Goku. He looked around him and realized that they were nowhere near the beach. "Where have you taken me?"
Goku smirked. "Don't you recognize this place Vegeta? It's the place where we first fought. The site of your first humiliating defeat."
Indeed, as Vegeta looked around, he saw the familiar rocky landscape. It was very much the same as when they first fought. Tall rock structures, a dusty wind blowing through the air. And of course, Kakarot standing in the way of something that he wanted.
"It seems you are intent on dying. Fine, I'll fight the boy later. He'll put up a much better fight once he learns what I've done to his father." Vegeta relished the thought.
"Face it Vegeta. You've never been good enough to beat me. Even now after all these years, you're still just second fiddle as long as I'm around."
Vegeta scowled. "You're beginning to annoy me."
'Good, I just need to make sure Gohan has enough time. If stopping Babidi won't convince the Kais that he should stay free, I don't know what will.'
As he thought this, Vegeta came at him full speed. Goku had just enough time to put up a cross guard that took the impact of Vegeta's fist. The blow sent him flying back, stopping himself just before slamming into a rock. Vegeta didn't let up. With a mighty roar, he rammed into Goku and the formation collapsed on both of them.
Break
The supreme Kai looked back when he suddenly felt Goku's ki disappear. "It seems that Babidi has taken the fight somewhere else."
"I don't think so." Gohan replied as they sped back to the spaceship. "More likely that my dad used instant transmission to keep Vegeta off our tail."
"Really?" Shin blinked. "How can you be so sure?"
"Just a feeling." The teen shrugged. "Besides, as soon as their energy disappeared it reappeared at a place that has a lot of meaning for those two."
"You can feel their energy from so far away?" The supreme Kai widened his eyes.
"Yeah, can't you?"
Shin focused and tried to feel Vegeta and Gokus presence. Gohan was right, they were rather far away, but now that he was looking for it, it was easily detectable. "Why, yes, I suppose I can." Still, the fact that a mortal would have such sensitivity to never lose track of them for a second… 'Truly, he is an impressive boy. But that is what worries me. He is only still a child and yet he already has unheard of power, enough to crush the king of demons. If his demon nature were to take over, there would be no chance of stopping him. Even all the Kais combined would be hopeless against him once fully developed. Our only chance would be to stop him now, before he grows more powerful. I'm sorry Goku, but promise or no promise, I must act now. I don't know if I can do it alone, but perhaps if I can catch him off guard…
"Can I ask you something?" Shin was quickly pulled out of his inner dialogue by Gohan's question. 'Oh no! does he suspect something? Vegeta did mention it before to him.'
Gohan continued without awaiting a response. "What I heard earlier. Is it true?" Whether it was the honest and straightforward manner in which Gohan asked the question, or the supreme Kai's own conscience and sense of honor as a Kai that made him tell the truth, it was hard to say. He gulped and prepared himself for the backlash.
"I'm afraid it is true Gohan. You represent a threat to the universe, and you must be stopped. I know it doesn't seem fair, but you are a risk that we cannot afford to-"
"I wasn't talking about that!" Gohan cut him off angrily. "I meant is it true that if dad dies again then he's gone forever!"
"What?" Shin almost fell out of the sky. "Y-you were asking about your father? But aren't you concerned for your own fate!? Surely you heard what Vegeta said I was intending to do?" 'Not to mention the fact that I just admitted it!' He mentally kicked himself.
"Something about sealing me away because I was a danger, right? Look I don't care about that right now. Tell me if my dad is gonna be okay!" Gohan asked impatiently.
The supreme Kai flew slack jawed. 'I just told him that I want to imprison him, and he doesn't even care? His only concern is for his father." He thought in amazement. 'Could such a mortal exist? Were we all that wrong in our judgement of him? Was I?'
"Well!?" Gohan prompted. The teen was quickly losing patience with the man.
"I-I'm afraid it is true Gohan." Shin answered at last. "If a being experiences death while in the state that your father is in, then they are wiped from existence, completely and forever. I doubt that even your dragon balls could bring them back."
Gohan's expression was incredibly displeased. "Just great."
Break
Across the desolate waste land, a cloud of dust could be seen rising, tracing a line and then quickly diverging from its path. Altogether vanishing in one spot and then starting up again elsewhere. This odd pattern was anything but a natural occurrence. Causing this wild dust storm was two warriors, locked in mortal combat.
"HAA!" Vegeta shouted as he poured on his assault. "HA! YAYAHAHRAH!" Lightning fast punches made their way toward Goku, who skillfully dodged all of them while backing away from his opponent. Vegeta started to get frustrated.
The Saiyan prince drove a knee into Goku's gut and while he was bent over from the pain, Vegeta nailed him with an elbow to his back, sending Goku down to the ground on all fours.
"Grr!" Goku grunted but had no time to recover. He jumped out of the way as Vegeta came crashing down, causing the earth to buckle and great chunks of rocks were pushed up. Vegeta growled as he looked up at Kakarot.
"Are you planning on running away the whole time, or are you going to fight!?" He charged at Goku again and attacked with his knee. Goku mirrored his movements and the knees collided against each other, sending sparks of red energy as the two massive powers collided. Both fighters backed off, only to jump back at each other's throats.
Goku threw a right cross and Vegeta did the same. Each Saiyan caught the oncoming fist in their other hand which started a struggle for dominance. As they fought for control, Vegeta smiled despite the effort he was exerting. "Of course, I wouldn't expect a real fight from someone like you anyway." The battle for control became a battle of the legs. Vegeta and Goku both tried to get at the other's stomach with a knee, but each time they were foiled.
The stalemate was broken when Goku decided to use his head, literal and headbutted Vegeta in the face. The Saiyan reeled back in pain, but only for a moment. His head came back down with a look of pure rage and he dove into Kakarots guard and started to pound away at his midsection. Left, right, left, right. With each stroke, Vegeta had a look of satisfaction at the pain he was causing. "This is the only thing you were ever fit for Kakarot! To be my punching bag!"
Goku suppressed his pain and caught Vegeta's left hand, then his right. He pulled the man in and delivered a knee to his chin, then a second knee. A third knee to the side of Vegetas head sent him colliding into a mountainside lodging himself in a Vegeta shaped hole. "Haah." Goku exhaled as he finally had room to breathe. "And what were you ever good for Vegeta? Was it anything other than letting me and Gohan clean up your messes?"
"GrrrAAAAAHHH!" Vegeta let out a shout and the Vegeta shaped hole became a giant spherical crevice in the rock. Slowly, he floated toward Goku, who came at him with the same cautious speed. The two faces came almost nose to nose as they growled. A fiery yellow aura surrounded the fighters as they bared their teeth.
"HRYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!" They shouted together and a blinding burst of light erupted from them. When it cleared, they were already back at it. A storm of kicks and punches were thrown from both warriors as they tried to get the upper hand in the exchange. It was Goku who backed off first and Vegeta pressed his advantage.
"Defeating Frieza?" Goku leaned back to dodge a left swing and blocked the following right with his forearm. "The monster responsible for ending our race? That was me!" He jumped at Vegeta and now the prince was on defense. It wasn't for long though, as Vegeta came back with even more fire power. The exchange of blows was traded back and forth as they battled their way across the land. Again, they punched at the same time. While Goku's attack landed square in his opponent's cheek, Vegeta's fist was caught by Goku's other hand.
"And Cell? Who was the idiot that let him become perfect?"
Vegeta forced his face to look at Goku and snarled "Grah!" He slid past the fist and into Goku's stomach again, pounding away with everything he had, forcing Goku back through the air with every hit. He quickly changed angles and began to rain his fists down from above, pushing his enemy lower and lower. Goku Threw a punch back, but Vegeta dodged it and countered with a right kick to his neck, then a left knee to his stomach combined with and elbow thrust on the back of his neck.
Goku lashed out and landed a hit on the stomach, following up with a kick, but Vegeta sidestepped it. "Don't you presume to lecture me!" He got behind Goku and put him in a choke hold. "You were strong Kakarot! You managed to take down Frieza where I failed!" He tightened his hold and Goku gasped for air as he clawed at Vegeta's arms. "And Cell indeed proved too much for me. Again, you showed yourself to be stronger! Again, and again, you proved to be my better! A Saiyan unlike any other!"
Goku moved from trying to pry Vegetas arm away from his neck, to ramming his elbow into his ribs. "Gaaah!" Vegeta gasped in pain. Goku delivered three more elbows and finally, flipped his opponent over his head and threw him to the ground. Goku landed on top of him and began to punch the man into the ground, earth breaking up all around them.
Vegeta, fed up with the damage that Goku was dishing out, used both of his legs to launch him off of his body and jumped up. He wiped a small trickle of blood from his mouth. He smirked and the battle continued. As they traded blows, Vegeta continued to talk. "It was humiliating at first. The prince of all saiyans surpassed by a low class warrior and then his halfbreed son! Oh, how that galled me."
Goku took advantage of the fact that Vegeta was monologuing and landed a kick to the gut. Vegeta brought his hands up and was about to slam them both down on Goku, but he disappeared, only to reappear with his foot lodged in his back.
"GAH!" Vegeta turned around to lash out, only for Goku to use instant transmission again to flee, this time attacking from above with an elbow to the head. Again, he disappeared just before Vegeta was able to strike. Instant transmission kept Goku safe as he was able to land devastating and continuous blows on Vegeta. Popping in and out of his guard and hitting in the most damaging places. The damage was starting to pile up and the prince's face was becoming bruised, and his bones were starting to crack from the impacts.
"GRRRAAAAAAAHHHH!" He let out a powerful Kiai and Goku was blown away just as he appeared at Vegeta's side. "Enough of your tricks Kakarot!"
"HAAAAAHHH!" Goku launched a one-handed blast and Vegeta did the same. The yellow power beams met in midair. The two struggled for dominance as a giant ball formed in the middle. Goku and Vegeta tried to will their beam to overpower the other. The beams remained neutral, prompting the two to edge closer. Their hands nearly were touching the ball itself, but it couldn't contain itself with such massive amounts of power and exploded, sending Goku and Vegeta flying away.
When the dust cleared, both warriors were on the ground, standing up straight. They had the marks of battle on them. Neither one was able to completely escape the blast, not to mention they had both done a number on each other with their numerous hits.
While it looked like neither warrior was about to move, Vegeta started to speak again. "You were my rival Kakarot. The goal that I knew one day I would surpass. Yes, I was humiliated. Before now, I would never admit such things. But my pride and the humiliation! That gave me the drive to push past my limits. I knew that if ever we met again, even in the afterlife, our fight would be glorious. Then I would claim my rightful place as the greatest of our race.
"Then why? Why did you cheat yourself!? The Vegeta I know didn't care about strength unless it was what he earned! Whatever hope you had of an honorable and glorious battle are gone Vegeta!"
"You think I care about that anymore Kakarot? I may have seen you as my rival, but no more. I have grown beyond you. Now I realize how foolish I was." Goku landed and the two stared each other down.
"Then who's my replacement? Gohan? Broly? No matter who you try and surpass, it will mean nothing to you! Don't you see that!? Not so long as you use your pathetic shortcuts!"
"Perhaps I wasn't clear." Vegeta smirked. "Allow me to explain so your pea sized brain can understand. I. Am. Unrivaled. You think that your boy could act as my motivation now? He's strong Kakarot, but he's still only a half breed. He'll be fun to play with and I look forward to unleashing him on the universe, but he could hardly stand as my equal. As for Broly, well, he's nearly as pathetic a Saiyan as you. Though I'll soon cure him of that. No Kakarot, you were the only one worthy to be my rival. You pushed me, gave me something to strive for, but now? After what I saw today, I realized that I was wrong about you." Vegeta gave Goku a look of pure disdain. "Imagine, a Saiyan warrior groveling to some purple nobody, and why? For his title?"
"IT WAS TO PROTECT GOHAN!" Goku yelled back.
"Protect him from what? The only thing that could have possibly threatened him, was me. Any threat that would have come along, we would have crushed. Like real saiyans do."
"You don't understand Vegeta!"
"What I understand is that you, the once great warrior, the man who found the path to super Saiyan, was no more worthy of my attention than a slug. Even as we fight now, I find that you fall far below any expectations that I might have had for you. But I must thank you. For when I realized that you were not worth my time, a new goal began to form in my mind. Or rather, an old one. Now that I no longer need waste my time with you, I can finally claim my rightful place at the top of the universe."
Goku looked disgusted. "Same old story then. So, if all you want is to rule the universe, why try and fight Gohan?"
"I could think of no better person to test these powers against. Even I can't deny his power is impressive. Even if his father is rather lacking."
"Coming from the guy with the bruised and bloody face." Goku shot back.
"I will admit, you are strong Kakarot. Unfortunately for you, I doubt you could beat me even without this boost in power."
"Well, you're in for a rude awakening. Not only can't you beat me. Your little boost isn't near enough to take on Gohan."
"Hm… The strength increase was rather less than I expected, but that's not the real reason I wanted it anyway. After what your purple friend said about Dabura, I realized that a Saiyan could make good use of this power."
Break
"OH NO! Vegeta, what are you doing!?" Babidi was enjoying the show as the two sayians pummeled each other. But now they were just standing around and talking. The wizard was still under the impression that he was under control, so he tried to give the Saiyan his orders.
Break
'VEGETA!' A voice sounded in the prince's head. 'Why are you just standing there!? I command you to go and punch his stupid face in!'
Vegeta smiled. 'Do you really think you can give me orders? Let me show you just how wrong you are little toad.
In direct defiance of Babidis orders, Vegeta smiled at Goku. "I believe it's time I proved something. Actually, this will be like killing two birds with one stone. Tell me Kakarot. What would you say if I offered you 3 minutes?"
"Three minutes? To what?"
"To attack me of course. For three whole minutes, I'll refrain from attacking you. I won't lift a finger. Meanwhile, you can do as much damage to me as you think you can."
"You must have gone crazy. I'm not doing that. Besides, it's probably a trick."
"I don't need tricks against you, clown."
"Forget it Vegeta!" Goku replied firmly.
'VEGETA WHAT ARE YOU DOING!? OBEY ME NOW!' Babidi screeched.
"Oh, did I forget to mention something? In order to fully restore the Saiyan race, I'll need some concubines. I wonder what your wife would think of that idea."
"DON'T YOU DARE!" Goku shouted.
"Not that I would take her opinion into account. As emperor of the universe, I can just take her. She seems like someone who would be fun to break in. Obviously, she's never felt the pleasure of a real Saiyan before."
"THAT'S ENOUGH VEGETA!"
"Of course, I'm sure she'll fight me at first, but once I break her spirit... Well, you can just imagine how I could do that." He said with a sick grin.
"SHUT UP!"
"And while I'm happy to have your eldest on board, I'm afraid the younger has a little too much of his father about him. He'll have to go."
"GRAAAAAAAHHHH!"
Goku charged at Vegeta and hit him with all the force he could muster. He then proceeded to unleash all his fury on the prince. He alternated between devastating blows to the gut and crushing hits to the face. He used both his hands to slam Vegeta into the ground and landed on top of him with both feet driving him further into the ground. Goku then picked his enemy up by the wrist and flung him away. Vegeta's body skipped across the land and only stopped when Goku appeared in his path and kicked him high in the sky. The Saiyan flew upward at incredible speeds, only to be knocked back down by Goku's fury.
Vegeta bounced off the ground and Goku grabbed him by the front of his shirt, slammed him against a rock and began to hit his face again and again.
"DON'T! YOU! DARE! TOUCH! MY! FAMILY!" He punctuated very sentence with a crushing attack. He had forgotten technique. Done away with the banter. All he wanted was to put Vegeta down. For the prince's part, he stayed true to his word. Despite the insurmountable damage that Goku was piling on him, he didn't resist. He just let the angry Saiyan rampage against him.
After a final punch to the face, the rock wall that Goku had Vegeta pinned against gave way, and the two fell into a dark cavern. Goku kicked Vegeta away, teleported and smacked him down again. Teleported and threw him away. Goku continued to unleash his unbridled fury by playing ping pong with his opponent. A sideways jackhammer fist sent Vegeta flying through solid rock and out of the cave through the opposite side they came in.
"KAMEHAME-HA!" The blue energy lit up the cavern and quickly caught up with Vegeta. The beam carried him away at an even faster rate until it engulfed him.
Break.
"OOH NOOOO! Vegeta why are you letting him pummel you like that!? Fight back I tell you!" Babidi was frantic. Majin buu was so close to full power but if Vegeta wasn't even going to try and fight back, then he would be doomed."
Break
Vegeta was lying on his back in the dirt, a broken and bloody mess. His skin had been burned and his face slightly smashed in. He was a pathetic sight to behold, but he had gone too far. Goku felt no pity for the man and landed on top of him, driving his knee into the man's throat.
"YOU WANT ME TO ACT LIKE A SAIYAN VEGETA!? FINE! SCUM LIKE YOU DON'T DESERVE MERCY ANYWAY!" Staying on top of him, Goku continued to wail on the unresisting man. He rained down blows randomly, hitting anywhere on his face and upper body that he could. He continued this deadly assault until his arms finally became tired.
Looking down at the swollen and disfigured face of the man he once thought of as a friend, he almost felt regret for losing control like that. Almost. He never should have threatened his family. Goku stood up. "I don't know what the point of that was Vegeta, but you just lost." He turned around and started to walk away. "Knowing you, I doubt you'll die even if I leave you here. Now, to catch up with Gohan and supreme Kai."
"*Cough*, hehe kak ah aha…" Vegeta let out a weak and bloody laugh. "Y-You-you jusht shealed your fate Kakarot." His voice was slurred due to the damage he had taken.
"Don't test me Vegeta." Goku said without looking back. "In your current state, I can easily kill you."
"Kekak!" Vegeta coughed. "E-even now, still full of your pathetic mercy."
Goku closed his eyes in frustration but opened them in shock when he heard the sounds of Vegeta getting back up. He quickly spun around and saw that Vegeta was standing. To his horror, the swelling on his face was beginning to go down, the damage to his body was being undone.
"What the!?"
"This, Kakarot. This is why I wanted Babidis power." Bones that had been damaged along with joints that had been dislocated were cracking back into place. "It may not be immortality, but if it can do for me what it did for those fools Yamu and Dabura, well, I don't think I need to explain to you the possibilities for a warrior of my caliber."
Vegeta was now standing at his full height. Completely healed of the damage Goku had done to him. "And as you know, a Saiyan gains a boost in power after coming back from the brink of death, so…" Vegeta powered up. "Thanks for playing right into my hands."
Goku could sense that Vegeta's new power was above his own, even at full strength. But now, with how worn out he was, the difference was incredible.
"Oh, and one more thing." Faster than even Goku could follow, Vegeta appeared inside his guard. "Your three minutes are up. HAAAAAH!" With this battle cry, he sunk an uppercut deep into Kakarots belly, knocking the wind out of him. He pulled out his fist and wound up a back hand, slapping Goku away from him.
Goku went flying away, tumbling across the landscape and through a giant rock spire. Goku stood back up shakily as rocks fell off of him. "Alright Vegeta, you asked for it. "KAAAMEEEE…"
"This old trick again?" Vegeta smiled and shook his head. "Fine, let's see how well that works out for you." He stopped moving, silently daring Goku to hit him.
"HAAAAMEEEEE…"
"BETTER MAKE IT GOOD KAKAROT! BECAUSE THIS ATTACK WILL BE YOUR LAST!"
"HAAAAAAA!" Goku released his super Kamehameha wave. Vegeta looked at the oncoming blast and spread his arms to the side. "FINAL FLASH!" He thrust his arms forward and a yellow beam went forth to match the blue one. The two attacks met closer to Vegeta, but the final flash soon began to push the super Kamehameha back toward Goku.
"GRRNNRGGNG!" Goku struggled as he felt himself being pushed back. He poured forth all his power to fuel his attack. Using the last of his reserves, he forced the beam struggle back toward Vegeta. Looking far from concerned, The Saiyan prince just smiled. "Is this it Kakarot!? Is this all you can do against a saiyan elite!?"
Goku was too focused on forcing both attacks away from himself to answer.
"HAHAHA! That's what I THOOOUUUGHT!" Shouting his last word, he put in a burst of his own energy and his final flash quickly and easily started pushing the Kamehameha back.
"GRAH!" Goku yelled, but it was no use. Both attacks bore down on him and he could do nothing to stop it. Digging deep, he mustered up just enough energy to instant transmission out of the way. He teleported to the top of a rock formation and watched as the beams became one and plowed their way through the wasteland, leaving a deep and wide trench in its wake. Finally, it hit a mountain and a mushroom cloud formed in the distance. He dropped to all fours, completely drained.
"Well, that was fun, wasn't it?" Goku snapped his head up to see Vegeta landing beside him. "Almost like old times." He kicked Goku in the side and he sailed through the air. Vegeta flew after him and when he caught up, he began to deal back all the damage that Goku had done to him earlier. He threw a barrage of punches and Goku could do nothing to defend against him. He was exhausted and out of energy. Vegeta finished his attack with a kick, sending Goku crashing to the ground near a cliffs edge. The cliff began to crumble and Goku almost fell. At the last minute, he reached out to grab the newly formed ledge and hung on for dear life.
Vegeta walked calmly over and peered down at his helpless enemy. "Here, let me give you a hand." He reached down, grabbed Goku by the wrist and flung him away, causing him to be lodged into a rock wall. Vegeta pointed two fingers at his foe and sent five power rings his way. Each of the rings Encircled Goku's wrists, ankles and neck and embedded themselves in the rock, pinning him to the structure and rendering him immobile.
"It's funny Kakarot." Vegeta walked over to him. "I just admitted to you all my feelings of inadequacy. Why would I do such things, especially to you? Simple." He slapped Goku. "I realized that it doesn't matter. You see, we were never comparable, I was always better than you. it was ridiculous of me to think otherwise." Then his condescending grin turned into an ugly grimace. "But even so, I can't help but feel disappointment, in you and myself." He kneed his captive in the gut. "Me because I held you on a pedestal for so long. What a fool I was." He back handed Goku. "And you, because you dared to get in my way, yet this is all you can offer?" He punched Goku twice more in the face. "From the moment you returned to this planet, you have done nothing but disappoint me. First with your pathetic servitude to the kai, and then by your weakness. Years of preparation, and this is all you can give me!?" He punched Goku once more in the gut.
"Still, at least I'll be able to have some fun with the boy."
At the mention of Gohan, Goku opened his eyes. Eyes full of rage. "HREAAAHHH!" With strength that he didn't know he had, he pulled himself free. Slabs of rocks were still attached to his limbs and they shattered as he hit Vegeta with each one consecutively. Vegeta was somewhat shocked by this unexpected burst of strength, but he quickly recovered as Goku continued his assault. Goku's punches lacked any real strength behind them and Vegeta blocked all of them easily with his open hands. Vegeta stopped the onslaught with a headbutt, making Goku reel back and Vegeta hit him with a palm thrust in his chest.
Goku smashed into a boulder and went limp. He dropped out of his super Saiyan 2 state, his last stand finished.
"This is the end Kakarot! Goodbye and good riddance!" Vegeta had grown tired of this fight. Aiming one hand, he formed his attack. "BIG BANG ATTACK!" A ball of electric energy flew toward the defeated form of Goku.
'Well, I guess this is it… I hope you guys were able to get the job done. Knowing you Gohan, I'm sure you did." The Saiyan thought with a smile. "Take care son, I'll be seeing you… Oh… I guess I won't…' He closed his eyes and waited for oblivion.
"MASENKO HA!" A beam of yellow light shot out of nowhere and pushed the big bang attack off course.
Vegeta looked absolutely livid when his attack was deflected. His anger soon faded into a wicked grin as he saw the warrior land. "Impeccable timing boy. I was just finishing my warmup."
Goku opened his eyes. "G-gohan? What are you doing here? I thought I told you to-"
"You're a moron." Gohan said to his father while looking at Vegeta.
"W-wha?" Goku felt like he was slapped. Gohan had never talked to anyone like this, let alone his father. Even Vegeta looked surprised by the harshness in the boy's tone.
"I said you're a moron! You just die and go away for three years and still think you can call the shots? You think that your way is best and that I'll just do as you say like on Namek? Like the last time you fought Vegeta? I don't know what your game is dad but I'm not playing. We both know I can take care of myself. I'm sure you had some elaborate plan or reason for me to be the one who saved the day, but guess what?" Gohan rounded on his downed father. "I've been making my own choices ever since you left. I've been keeping mom and Goten and the entire planet safe ever since you left. You aren't the earths protector anymore dad, I am. I know how to keep this planet safe, and I'll be DAMNED if I let you kill yourself in some misguided attempt to protect me and give me the glory. You didn't see what losing you did to us. How much we missed you, how mom cried. And I could have stopped it. You wouldn't let me fix my mistake by letting us bring you back. And now you want to do that all over again? Well, I'm not going to stand by and lose you again! You don't get to die today."
"Gohan… I-"
"And you know something else dad? I come up with better plans than you anyway. You wanted to fight Vegeta to distract him and give us time to get away, but you know what would have been better? If the one who knows flippin' instant transmission took the supreme Kai back to the ship and killed the evil wizard!"
Goku blinked. "I-I just-"
"Which would be the thing for you to do right now. Use your technique to get yourself out of here and to Shin, then get him to the ship and have Zangya help you finish the mission! That should take a second or so, right? So, get a move on dad." With his rant finished, Gohan held out a hand and a ball of light shot out toward Goku. The energy rejuvenated the Saiyan. Though not fully healed, he no longer felt like he was on the brink of death.
Goku was stunned. He struggled to get himself up and readied himself to do as his son ordered. Before he left, he had one thing left to say. "Gohan. I just want to say-"
"I know. I love you too dad." Gohan smiled. "Tell mom to get dinner started." He then turned to face Vegeta. "This won't take too long."
Goku felt pride well up inside him. He nodded and without another word, he teleported away.
Break.
"Well, I must say I'm impressed." Vegeta said with folded arms. "Calling your father a moron and then chasing him out of here. You really do have what it takes to be a Saiyan."
Gohan gave Vegeta an odd look. "Don't you care?"
"Hm?" Vegeta raised an eyebrow.
Gohan continued. "I know you were a soulless killer, but I thought you had changed. I see how you are with Bulma. How you are with Trunks. I know you care about them."
"Is there a point, or is this just going to be another one of those speeches your family does to be dramatic?" Vegeta asked in a bored tone.
"You almost erased my dad from existence. I know you hated him, but even for you…" Gohan exhaled. "You know what? You're right. Now isn't the time. I don't really feel like giving a speech anyway. So, I guess," He flexed and his intense aura burst out around him. "I'll have to get my point across the only way you know how."
"I'm looking forward to it." Vegeta and powered up as well.
"Not for long." The teen cracked his knuckles. The gesture made Vegeta laugh.
"AHAHA! It's good to see you plan on taking this seriously. I'd hate to have to play that little motivation game that Cell played with you."
Gohan's eyes narrowed. "You know, this is a bit of a step down for me."
"What!?" Vegeta growled.
"Well, earlier I took down the king of demons. I just doubt that a prince will be any trouble."
Vegeta growled, but then he smirked. "We'll see about that." Vegeta rushed at the teen with his fist cocked back. He swung down, and Gohan ducked underneath it, stepping forward and turning around with his fist raised. Vegeta spun to face him and their fists met, creating a shockwave that caused nearby rock features to crumble. Vegeta readied another punch, but Gohan was faster and landed a high front kick on the Saiyan's chin. Vegeta flipped backwards from the impact, but caught himself with his hands and completed a back handspring.
Gohan didn't give him time to recover as he lunged at the older fighter. Vegeta readied himself to block, but an after image phased through him. Another Gohan came from the side and he readied himself to take this one on, but it too, just phased through him. From the other side a Gohan came at him and he was sure that this was the real one. He blocked but let out a yell of frustration when the fist stared to phase through him as well. As soon as he dropped his guard the real Gohan took the place of his after image and a solid fist slammed into his nose, emitting a crunching sound.
"GRAH!" Vegeta brought his hands to his face and Gohan planted a round house into the man's midsection. The blow sent Vegeta shooting away like a bullet. The Saiyan tried to stop himself, but before he could, Gohan was flying parallel to him and fired a masenko downward, pushing the prince into a new crater.
"Kak!" Vegeta coughed up blood as he got up unsteadily. His body was once again covered in burn marks and blood.
"So, this is the power you bragged about Vegeta? That you wanted to test on me? Color me unimpressed." Gohan jeered.
"Keheheh. You're as ignorant as your father!" Gohan watched as the wounds began to heal slowly, steam rising up as the afflicted area became new again. The teen raised an eyebrow as the full blooded Saiyan stood to his full height.
"So, that's your angle?" Gohan asked. "You want me to beat you up until Dr Zenkai brings you up to my level?"
"I guess I was wrong, you are smarter than the clown after all. But you're wrong about one thing boy, I'm at a level all my own." Vegeta jumped at Gohan and tried to punch him in his face. Gohan caught the fist, pushed it up and drove an elbow into his attacker's stomach. He let go of Vegetas hand and nailed him with a palm thrust in his sternum, pushing him away.
This time Vegeta was able to get his feet on the ground and skid to a halt before going to great a distance. Gohan shook his head. "The 'clown' is a better man than you will ever be. He fights for something more than his own selfish desires or vanity. I thought that you were becoming the same way. Looks like we were both wrong."
Vegeta laughed. "HA! And what was I wrong about?"
Gohan smirked. "You think you're on a level of your own, you're not even close to me yet."
"Oh really? Well, we'll see about that."
"You're betting on Babidi's magic to save you, but it didn't help Dabura, did it?" Gohan pointed out. "And it doesn't matter how many Zenkai you get. You'll never beat me."
"Well, that's one opinion. Here's another!" Vegeta shot his rapid-fire technique at Gohan. Rather than avoid the attack, Gohan dove straight into it and started batting away the blasts as he made his way toward Vegeta. The prince tried to increase his rate of fire, but the teen was too quick. He reached out and lifted Vegeta up by the throat and kneed him in the gut. He finished by brutally throwing him to the ground.
Vegeta lay still for a moment, then he stood up and gave Gohan a goulish grin. What made this stare so off putting was the fact that his neck was bent at an impossibly odd angle. He reached up and with a sickening crack set his neck straight.
"Are you trying to kill me boy?" He asked with amused curiosity.
Gohan's frown deepened. "No. Just making my point."
"And what point is that exactly? That Your as dumb as your father? You realize that every time you nearly kill me, I'll just come back stronger."
"Hey Vegeta, remember that time when you challenged Frieza then got your butt kicked? Cuz I do." Vegeta growled. "I also remember that it was my 'dumb' father that saved us all. From what I can see, you're way more of an idiot than him. Especially since this time, you made a huge mistake." Gohan powered up. "This time, my dad isn't here to save you from the monster." Gohan disappeared and Vegeta turned around to block Gohan as he appeared and attacked from behind. He aimed a high kick at Gohan's temple but the boy blocked it and countered with a spinning back elbow. It hit Vegeta on the side of his head and the prince stumbled. He lunged at the half breed and began throw rapid jabs at Gohan's face.
While backing away from the attack, Gohan swatted down each fist as it came. While he still had the advantage, he was beginning to tell that Vegeta was gaining ground. Gohan hit him in the face with his forehead, making the prince back off. He used the reprieve to crouch down and sweep the older mans legs out from under him. Vegeta tripped and as he fell, prepared to launch a Ki blast at the boy.
Gohan saw the light and quickly made a blast of his own and the two fired simultaneously. There was no Ki struggle. The younger man's attack blew right through Vegeta's own and now the prince was down again with a mangled arm. Gohan waited patiently for his victim to get back up. "Come on Vegeta, I know you're not done yet. That time you almost made me try."
Vegeta pushed himself up with one arm. "Heheh, mock me while you can boy." Vegeta held his arm as it started to heal with a sizzle. "You're either purposefully trying to get me stronger to make the fight more challenging, in which case, you really are a Saiyan. Or, you've lost your mind, because only a madman would keep knocking me down and expect a different result. Either way, know this. The punishment you've inflicted on me will soon be repaid. You're only giving me what I want. The way I am now, my power is limitless, and you are only speeding up your inevitable defeat."
'That's what you think.' Gohan thought to himself. "Isn't that why you wanted to fight me? It wasn't really to test your strength, you just wanted me to smack you around until you could beat me. Kind of a pathetic strategy if you ask me." Gohan shrugged. "My Saiyan pride would never let me go through something so humiliating."
Vegeta was getting fed up with the barbs. It was annoying when Kakorot did it, but somehow, coming from Gohan, it was insufferable.
The two charged at each other once more and a fierce exchange ensued. Gohan dodged every attack that Vegeta threw at him. Weaving his head side to side, ducking the occasional kick, all while sending a barrage of his own at the other man.
Vegeta didn't do quite as well as Gohan when it came to evading the blows. Gohan's strikes were coming much faster than his own and he had to settle for blocking rather than dodging. While fists were flying furiously, Gohan still found the time to talk.
"You think that you're better than my dad? Why, because he set aside his pride to listen to the supreme Kai?" He ducked a high kick and landed a front kick, pushing him back, only for him to come back for more. "I don't agree with what he did either. But I know his reasons were selfless and you have no right to judge!" Gohan started to fight back in earnest. He worked his way past Vegeta's flying limbs and he threw a series of uppercuts into his abdomen. He finished his combination with a knee to the gut, then a flying knee to the chin and finally a spinning axe kick to the top of his head, slamming the prince's face into the hard ground and creating a crevice in the rocks.
"What did you set your pride aside for Vegeta!? You claim to be a Saiyan elite, but from where this half breed son of a low class warrior is standing, you're the lowest of us all."
Vegeta angrily pushed himself back up and started swinging. "I'LL SHOW YOU YOU BRAT! I AM YOUR PRINCE AND YOU WILL BOW TO MY POWER!" Gohan swayed back and forth while giving ground to Vegeta.
"A prince who bears the brand of his master in exchange for a power that isn't his own! Justify it how you want Vegeta! Disparage my father and I as much as you like! But at the end of the day, we kept our pride! Because our power is our own! And IT! IS! GREATER! THAN! YOURS!" Gohan did a quick low forward spinning motion and grabbed Vegeta by the ankle. He yanked it out from under him and started to flail the prince around, back and forth, slamming him on the rocks, shattering the ground into gravel. Gohan took hold of the ankle with both hands and brought Vegeta down in one final slam "RRRAAAAGH!" The impact shook the earth, any rock formations that were still standing crumbled from the tremor.
"Phew." Gohan let go of Vegeta. 'That should do it.' He thought while staring down at the immobile prince.
Vegeta once more, stumbled to his feet. He straightened out his horribly bent knee and ankle, popped his dislocated shoulder back in and the bruises and cuts all over his body were healed. "What are you so relieved for boy? If I'm not much mistaken, that just put me above you in power. It's time for a little payback."
"That's a relief. Because when it comes to comparing power, you usually are much mistaken. Was it Cell, Frieza or both that completely humiliated you?" Gohan smiled. "Oh wait, that's right, it was me!"
Vegeta snarled and in a burst of speed hit Gohan in the gut. The first solid hit Vegeta had landed all fight knocked the wind out of the teen. He recovered in time to block a hook from Vegeta and countered with a palm thrust. Vegeta leaned out of the way and turned into a back spin kick. Gohan matched the kick with his own. Both fighters brought their legs down and the teen aimed a chop down on the saiyan's neck. Vegeta caught his wrist in both hands and pulled him in closer to knee him in the gut. Gohan brought his free hand up to catch the knee, pushing it to the side. He twisted his wrist free, trapping one of his opponent's arms and hit him square in the face. Vegeta returned with a fist to Gohan's face. Gohan hit Vegeta in the gut and the prince reciprocated. Gohan tried to throw another punch and Vegeta caught the oncoming fist. Now each fighter had control of one of their foe's arms. They reeled back their heads, bringing their foreheads together in an earthshaking crash. Neither warrior gave in and they tried for another headbutt exchange. Both fighters were rattled, but refused to yield. A third dual headbutt finally forced the two apart.
Both were breathing hard. Both had small trickles of Blood running down from their foreheads. "Submit." Vegeta demanded of his opponent.
"I submit that you have a fat head."
"GRAAAH" They came at each other and Gohan landed the first blow with a hook to the face. Vegeta returned with a punch to the gut. Gohan came back with an uppercut on his chin. The fight was no longer about technique. It wasn't even about strength. Now it was all about who could last longer in this slugfest. Who's will would overcome the other. Neither bothered putting up their guard as they focused solely on offense. For every hit Vegeta landed, Gohan returned one of his own in the same exact spot. A punch to the face, to the gut, on the chin. It was as if they were proving that whatever the other could dish out, they could handle as well.
This continued until, to Vegeta's surprise, he was getting tired, and he felt that his fists were losing power. To his chagrin, the boy's attacks seemed to cause more pain than before. Gohan for his part was doing just fine. His fists losing none of their power nor their sharpness as they struck him. He thought for sure that this time, he had surpassed the boys power. That now there was nothing that could stop him.
'Tch, no matter, I'll just let the wizards magic heal me again. Then I'll crush him. I'll finally bring this insolent whelp to heel.' While these were his thoughts, he refused to let up in the slugging match. Unfortunately, Gohan was now dishing out 2 hits for every one of Vegeta's. the Saiyan tried to match him, but he wasn't quick enough and got punished even harder as a result.
Gohan could see that Vegeta's strength was waning. He gave one final push and started hammering Vegeta with everything he had. The Saiyan started to back off, but the half breed was relentless. He pursued his quarry with a vicious tenacity. So much so that Vegeta actually put his guard back up. As soon as he did, he was hit with a high low combination. Gohan started off on the body, then when Vegeta tried to guard against that, a fist would land in his face. He would raise his guard and Gohan went for the body again. The onslaught was too much for Vegeta. He had to fight back. He tried to throw a jab, but right when he did, the teen seized his opportunity and launched a haymaker into the temple of Vegeta. The fist drove the head to the earth and the ground gave way as the prince's head plowed into the rocky earth.
Gohan lifted his hand from the man's head and stepped back. Other than the blood on his forehead, and a few minor injuries on his body, he looked just fine. He looked down at his beaten adversary with a challenging stare. "Get up from that, your highness."
Vegeta struggled to get up, but only made it as far as his hands and knees. He gasped for air. The exchange had taken a lot more effort than he thought. The boy had bested him yet again, only this time, it was far more painful. 'that's just fine. Any minute now, I'll be healed and then you'll be on the ground, groveling before me. Any minute now.'
Gohan stood over Vegeta while the prince waited for the magic to kick in. But no matter how long he waited, nothing happened. Vegeta stayed in his beaten and damaged state. "What… What did you do!" He tried to yell at the teen, but was unable to muster the strength.
"Do you know how Babidi's magic works Vegeta?" Gohan asked.
"Wh-who cares how it works? Why does that matter?"
"I can only guess myself, but judging by your current condition, I'd say my theory is dead on." Gohan crouched down, letting the scholar in him take over. "To start, let's talk about Kili. You see, Kili is like demonic energy, though, it isn't exclusive to demons, so I guess negative energy is a better term. A lot of us have this negative energy and in some ways, it can make us stronger, but it has some other drawbacks. Anyway, I believe Babidi uses his power to manipulate Kili in his victims and gives them strength and durability, as well as healing when necessary. Unfortunately, this isn't a limitless bonus like you believed it was. In order for the magic to work indefinitely, there needs to be a connection. A type of symbiosis between you and Babidi. If his victim doesn't submit himself to him, then the magic isn't flowing properly and the Kili can't replenish. Unfortunately for you, you shook off his control at the very start leaving you with a limited supply of Kili, which was eaten up by your long fights with me and dad and especially every time you healed yourself. your strength increased because of the zenkai's, but the initial boost in power is no more."
Vegeta had been kneeling in stunned silence as Gohan gave his explanation. When he finished, he lifted his head, a spiteful look on his face. "How? How could you possibly know that?"
"Well, I won't get into all the details, but I can tell the difference between Kili and regular Ki. I sensed it in Yamu and Spopovitch, Videl and even you. I also sensed that the amount you had was less when I arrived to save my dad than when you first got that stupid tattoo. It decreased drastically again every time you healed the damage I did to you. It didn't seem like any new Kili came in like with Yamu and Dabura, So, I just kept letting you drain away at the supply until you ran out." Gohan explained in a clinical manner.
"Grr!" Vegeta pushed himself up off his hands, though he couldn't make it off his knees. "You played me!"
"You played yourself Vegeta. I told you, you gave up your pride for nothing but a goofy mark on your forehead."
"It wasn't nothing!" The kneeling warrior spat back. "I reached a level beyond anyone! If I had fought you at the start rather than your oaf of a father, I would have surpassed you easily! I may not be able to use the toads magic, but I will still be healed, and then, I will be beyond anything you could imagine!"
Gohan shook his head with pity. "You got stronger, sure, but you're still far from surpassing me."
"What are you on about!? I just went blow for blow with you! Once I recover, my power will-"
"Haven't you noticed by now Vegeta? This whole time and you still didn't figure it out?"
Vegeta looked up at him. "Figured what out?"
To answer him, Gohan started to power up. "HaaaaaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAHHH!" Vegeta stared in awe as the boy's power skyrocketed. In addition to the increase in power, lightning crackled around the warrior.
"Y-you were only a super Saiyan that whole time?" Vegeta's face went white.
"I guess it is kind of difficult to tell with my new hairstyle. But yeah, the strength that you were so proud of. It wasn't even half my power."
Vegeta dropped his arms and his mouth hung open. He wasn't even close to reaching the power in front of him. "You really were just playing me."
"Not exactly." Gohan corrected. "I didn't know how long your supply of Kili would last, so I held this in reserve. Although, in the end, it doesn't look like I needed it. Care to guess why Vegeta?" The prince remained silent but Gohan continued anyway. "I train for more than my own vanity. I fight for more than the thrill of battle. I have become this powerful only because I have something to protect. That's something I thought you would understand by now, but I guess not." Gohan finished with another look of pity aimed at the prince.
Vegeta just knelt there. Completely defeated in every way. Without even the energy to stand. The teen walked past him, before sparing a final glance at his opponent. "Oh yeah, I almost forgot." He brought both hands together and clubbed Vegeta in the back of the head. The Saiyan prince fell on his face, out cold. "That was for trying to take my dad from me."
Gohan had no time for feelings of satisfaction, because no sooner had he knocked the Saiyan prince out than he felt an enormous energy spike far away. His eyes opened wide in fear.
"Zangya!" Without sparing a backward glance, Gohan took off full speed for the site of Babidis spaceship.
End Chapter.
A/N: So, here we see a frustrated teenager administer some tough love to his father that he does not want to lose again. Canon Gohan would probably never do this, but This Gohan is more confident and has a little more attitude. I partly just did it that way because while he is stronger, he is also younger and still not over losing his father because of a mistake he made against Cell.
I was originally going to go with the canon fight and change it up a bit, but one person commented and made me think that Gohan vs Vegeta would be a good way to go. I decided to compromise and have both of them fight him.
I watched the fight between Goku and Majin Vegeta and I realized that Vegeta actually has an upper hand almost the whole time. It is pretty even and Goku definitely keeps up and does his fair share of damage, but if it continued, I think Vegeta would have come out on top. Obviously that isn't counting SSJ 3 but Vegeta controlled the pace of that fight the whole time. Maybe Goku was holding back to let Vegeta blow off some steam, but I don't think so, again, not counting SSJ 3.
The benefits of becoming a Majin in canon is a little unclear. Spopovitch (In this story Yamu) survives with his head on backwards which, no matter how strong you are, that would kill you. At the same time, we don't really see anything like that in any of Babidis other minions. It becomes a mere strength booster. My theory and the way I am using it here is that, in addition to making the person more crazy, ha-majin-ization (That's what I'm calling it) does three things physically. It boosts the user's strength, increases their durability, and gives them some type of healing factor. The benefits are proportionate to the users inherent abilities, meaning someone like Vegeta, who has unparalleled durability (he's been shown to survive a Kaioken x 4 kamehameha, then a spirit bomb, then an oozaru falling on him all on the same day) will be able to use this power to great advantage. Couple that with his Saiyan biology and he can potentially gain quite a bit of strength through Zenkai. Vegeta wants this and it is also the main reason he wanted to fight Gohan. He knew that Gohan would trounce him at first, but he would eventually become stronger through continually healing. Of course, there is a limit to it, which Vegeta finds out when he fights Gohan.
I hope that you all like this chapter. I know that I took some liberties with Ha-majin-ization and Kili, but please keep in mind that this is fanfiction. Thank you and please follow/favorite if you like the story.
