I will always take care of you
The evening went as peacefully as any could expect from such a large group of demons, half demons, and humans.
Kanta and his father along with other low level demons gave high praise to Sesshomaru. Vowing loyalty in the future to come as he had granted the old otter demon life once more.
Shiori and her mother spent the whole evening speaking and enjoying the company of Jinenji and his mother.
Kohaku seemed to be upset after Sesshomaru and his group of demons came in stealing Rin. He however was soon overtaken by a young ninja girl named Suzuna. They were fairly close in age and she and Kohaku found they had many things in common.
Once Sango was able to pry herself away from lord Kuranosuke, she and her family enjoyed the heart shaped celebration.
Shippo delighted in all Rins treats. As did Inuyasha. The two fought all night over food.
Kagome happily spoke to each and every member of her guest. She was as polite and proper as her futuristic attitude would allow. She even attempted a conversation with Sesshomaru's mother.
Rin had a knot in her stomach as everyone soon made their exits. Inukimi had called over Shiori and her mother. Commenting on how beautiful the half demon girl was. And how she'd make a suitable wife even for a half demon.
Shiori obviously trembled at the thought. Inukimi was not the first and feared she wouldn't be the last to speak of a betrothal to a powerful demon lord.
She was asked to sing and even though she sang nervously her voice was still beautiful. She had done such a remarkable job that even Sesshomaru seemed pleased with her performance.
Which is exactly what rubbed Rin the wrong way. She couldn't explain the dark feeling she had for this girl she didn't know. All she did know is that whatever little she thought of the bat demon girl before she thought way less of now.
As Inukimi stood to announce her departure she requested that she speak to Sesshomaru for but a moment.
Sesshomaru barely acknowledged her request, but in hopes of getting rid of her sooner, he followed and spoke.
"Sesshomaru? I know you will not humor any tedious conversation I may start in an attempt at small talk so I'll get straight to the point. You can not mate the human girl." Inukimi watched Sesshomaru look at her with shock. "Please, come now Sesshomaru. You did not honestly expect me not to know now, did you? You are a demon. She is human. You know the outcome." Inukimi tried to reason.
"Is there reason for your warning mother? Or you simply assume your blessing means something to me." Sesshomaru stated dryly.
"She will run from you. Fear you, and you could harm her easily." Inukimi stated with a wicked smile. "You would risk her last life for a single night's pleasure? How foolish." Inukimi held a beautifully decorated fan to her face.
Sesshomaru angered by her last words used his demonic speed to pin his mother against the bark of a tree. Before he could even realize what was happening she pricked his lower lip with her one long painted claw. She then did something Sesshomaru thought to be the most vile experience of his life.
She kissed him.
When she broke away Sesshomaru was left confused. Yes, it was unfortunately normal for demons to mate their mothers, fathers, or even their brothers or sisters. Sesshomaru however never believed his family to be so low in class and self respect to indulge in such an act.
His skin started to feel unusually heavy. And everything around him seemed to be spinning. He released his hold upon his mother's neck and struggled to keep balanced. He tried to speak but his lips refused to part.
"Sesshomaru. You are aware of course that the immunity to all poisons you possess comes from me are you not?" Inukimi licked her lower lip to heal her punctured skin. She then walked over to Sesshomaru and licked where she she had pierced, healing him as well. "There is one poison however none will ever become immune to. It is when both my blood and my saliva are mixed together. I'm sure one day you to will possess such power. However, I doubt you will go around kissing your enemies." Inukimi smiled.
She was taunting him. He could feel the anger boil inside of him.
"I will show you Sesshomaru. I will show you how dangerous it is to be with this human girl. I may have been open to overlooking her as a mistress had you been more willing to provide a full blooded heir. Though you would not be the stubborn and prideful pup I raised if that were to be the case." Inukimi used her Mokomoko to set Sesshomaru down at the base of a tree. "Sesshomaru, right now your body is in complete paralysis. You can not move nor speak. However, your body can still feel and hear everything. If I was a merciful mother I'd grant you the gift of sight as well since you yourself will not be able to close your eyelids. I will not do this for you. I'll show you the truth. When your naive human comes to your aid, she will be overwhelmed with the desire to care for you. When she touches upon the most sensitive parts of your skin, she will awaken your body's natural instinct to defend itself. You will attack her." Inukimi stated plainly.
Sesshomaru could barely grunt his anger as his body collapsed in on itself.
"Now, now. No need to get so riled up. I believe you to be much stronger than your father. I'm sure you in some way can overcome the toxins and prevent yourself from using your poisonous claws. The girl will end up with a few scratches that both you and I can heal with ease. Or perhaps a few broken bones. The priestess should be able to heal her from that I presume." Inukimi began to kick some dirt at Sesshomaru.
She dirtied his clothes, armor, face, and hair. Her actions only ceased upon the light footsteps slowly approaching.
"Ahh! Right on time! I hope you don't mind darling but I wished to give a proper goodbye to the young girl. She keeps me entertained. I so hate for it to end." Inukimi smiled.
"Lord Sesshomaru!? Lady Inukimi!?" Rin called out as she walked through the wall of old trees with little foliage.
"Do not worry yourself girl. They are just over there. I can Smell them." Hebi hissed out.
"Oh no! What am I to do! My darling son is left in such a humiliating situation! Whoa is I." Inukimi very dramatically faked worry and despair.
"Oh wow? My lady is a very good actress." Rin said barely above a whisper as she moved closer.
Her footsteps squishing in the softened ground from melted snows. Suddenly worry dawned the young girl. She seen her lord collapsed to the ground and began running ahead of Hebi who yawned her boredom.
"LORD SESSHOMARU! Lord Sesshomaru what happen to him! Is he ok!" Rin ran and immediately kneeled to her lord to straighten him out.
"Sesshomaru will be fine. He is still breathing. It is the drink that has done this to him! Now my darling son must be dragged in shame in his drunken state! Oh, what is a mother to do!" Inukimi faked her dramatics yet again.
This time Rin fell for her act wholeheartedly.
"Please my lady! Let me take care of lord Sesshomaru! Leave lord Sesshomaru with me so he has time to heal! I didn't know lord Sesshomaru did not like sake! I never even seen him drink any!" Rin cried out as her tears fell from her eyes. Her heart was twisted in guilt and joy all at once at the idea that she be allowed a single night with him again.
"If you insist girl. Make sure he is clean before day. It is such a horrific sight to see him covered in mud and the awful smell of this forsaken village." Inukimi turned to take her leave.
Just before she could gather her demonic energy beneath her to take flight, she heard the soft whispers of the girl left behind.
"Don't worry Lord Sesshomaru, I'll take care of you, just like you have always taken care of me." Rin brushed the hair out of Sesshomaru's face and smiled down at his angel like features.
I'll always be here to take care of you, my lord...
