The rest of the drive back to her house passed in relative ease. Lily and Jasper spoke of nothing in particular, deciding to just listen to the music on the radio and get lost in the trees as they flew past them.

Lily hadn't realized she had fallen asleep until jasper gently nudged her awake outside her house. She had his sweater bundled up as a pillow under her head somehow.

It smelt like spices, wood smoke, and something distinctly Jasper.

"Hello there sleepy head. How are ya' feelin?" Jasper asked, turning the music down. The weather was cloudy and threatening to rain already.

"I'm alright, I didn't realize how tired I was. Thanks for the pillow by the way. I would have had an awful kink in my neck otherwise."

"No problem Doll, go on up. I can feel Sarah and John's excitement from here."

Lily waved goodbye before grabbing her bag. John had come out at that moment to help carry her stuff in. She didn't have much with her, but she appreciated his help all the same. Once they were inside, Sarah pulled her into a tight hug while gently pulling her left and right within her arms.

"Oh! I missed you! How was the beach? Did you take lots of pictures? You look… not tan at all surprising. Didn't you go outside honey?" Sarah fired off question after question.

"Sarah, let the girl breath. She just got back. Besides, I have some questions for myself. Let's move to the living room" john announced, giving nothing away.

Lily started to get worried. She hadn't heard him speak so seriously or stern before. He was more of the gruff but loving type. He loved pranks. But this felt… off. It made her stomach hurt and her anxiety start to pick up.

Had she done something she wasn't supposed to? She talked to them every day, took pictures, and she rarely ever got in trouble or caught. After years of being mistreated and abused, she had changed how she carried herself to be as unassuming and as little trouble as possible.

John sat in the larger armchair that he enjoyed watching sports in. It was a darker leather, one of the few things he spoiled himself with. Lily liked to sit sideways in the chair and hang her legs off one of the armrests while reading when it rained.

Sarah looked just as confused as Lily felt, so she sat on one side of the opposite couch facing John while Lily took the middle.

She wasn't sure what she had done, but she had to trust that Sarah and John would never hurt her.

"Now, I have some questions to ask. Don't interrupt while I'm asking them. Do you understand Lily?" He spoke slow and firm. She just nodded her head silently.

"Good, now for the first question. Why did Jasper drop you off at home without Rosalie? Did he come with you on this trip? Are you both intimate? I won't insult your intelligence as we all know you can have…relations without being in a relationship. Answer those first before I ask anything else please."

Lily just looked pale faced and wide eyes up at John. She swallowed before answering, trying to buy more time.

Just then the house phone rang, causing the three heads to turn. They weren't expecting any calls at this time, but Sarah left the couch to see who it was and what they wanted.

"We'll wait for her to come back before we continue. This is a family meeting."

Lily just continued to sit in silence, trying to figure out what she was going to say.

Sarah said her goodbye's on the phone and returned to the living room without sitting down.

"Lily dear are you feeling ok? Esme just called letting me know Rose is getting sick in the bathroom. Something about a restaurant serving bad food at the airport? She wanted to say thank you for letting Rose get dropped off first."

John seemed suspicious of the timing but decided to let it drop.

"I-I'm fine Sarah. My stomach hurts, but nothing else yet. We thought the seafood would be safe."

"Oh honey never trust airport seafood, no matter how close to the ocean you are! John, come on. Do we really have to do this now? You know how you get with vomit."

"Sarah, come on. You know this has to be addressed."

Sarah just sighed and look up to the ceiling, as if asking for strength. She took her seat again before flipping her hand towards john motioning him to continue.

"Well, that answers why Jasper dropped you off alone. I'm sorry to hear Rosalie is sick. If you start getting sick, you're on your own. I do not do vomit. I love ya kid, but not enough to induce my own stomach upset."

"Now, continue with my questions. Did Jasper join you on this trip and are you both having sex. Or, better yet are you having sex yet? We need to know so that I can get my shotgun ready and get you on birth control that you can rely on. The pill doesn't work 100% so you need a backup. But, that's your choice. "

Lily's face was burning at the thought.

"No, J-Jasper didn't come. I only ever have talked to him a few times. I've never even kissed a boy…"Lily said before looking down, trying to will the redness of her face to go away. She was sure she just succeeded in looking constipated instead.

"Good, that makes me feel some sense of relief. I trust Dr. Cullen, but teenage boys no matter their best intentions sometimes don't think with the right head. Doesn't excuse them mind you, but it's always better to be prepared and protected then left in a situation. Seeing as I have a daughter, I need to make sure you're able to protect yourself as much as you can."

John paused at that moment. He closed his eyes and leaned forward in his chair, putting his elbows on his knees and putting his heads together in a steeple formation.

"Last question. Are you ready?" He asked seriously.

Lily just nodded again, having lost the nerve to speak.

"Did you…or did you not…get pinched by a crab before you left?" John asked completely straight-faced.

Lily just stared at him, mouth open. The room was quiet for a few moments before Lily groaned and shrieked in the righteous outrage only a teenage girl could accomplish before throwing a couch pillow at John.

"Yes, you big jerk! I fell in the water right before I left and got ambushed and it's all your stinking fault!" She shouted playfully before grabbing another couch pillow and hitting him repeatedly with it. He just laughed before grabbing her into a hug.

"I'm sorry you got pinched, I did warn you. And if any of those questions made you uncomfortable. You're practically an adult legally, even if you have been mentally for a long time now. I just want to keep you safe as long as possible. You understand right?" He asked, looking at her in her eyes trying to convey the emotion he wasn't great at voicing.

"I understand. Thank you, I mean it" Lily said gently before hugging him back.

"Good, now go shower. You smell way too much like teenage boy cologne and airport. We can order pizza while you get cleaned up" John said before shoving her off his lap and chair onto the floor.

She landed in an unladylike splat and glared back up at John.

"I should stay down here and marinate for the cruelty you just showcased!"

"You have 5 seconds before I get the dishwasher hose."

She didn't move at first.

"4…3…2…"

Lily shrieked at sprinted up the stairs, leaving behind a room with two rather cruel adults laughing at their daughter, happy to have her home again.
