The Done Thing
"Do other demons retain humans?"
"How would I know?"
Miroku sighed. "You could speculate."
Sesshoumaru's brow quirked. "Do you require precedence?"
"Not necessarily. I wondered if our arrangement was… widely accepted."
"You expect approval?"
Miroku had seen enough spite during his travels to know otherwise. He asked another way. "Humans fear you. What do youkai think of me?"
"How would I know?"
Miroku morosely tugged his ponytail. For the most part, he was curious about Sesshoumaru's motives. Was it audacity for a vassal to want to know his lord's mind?
"There is a way," Sesshoumaru admitted. "I will make inquiries."
End Note: This chapter was helped along by a prompt from Nilee1, who contributed the word "audacity" over on my Ko-fi account, where I'm currently hosting a fandom event. I'm also ticking off a prompt from a table I procured (ages ago) from the Live Journal community iy no kakera, where I hold a claim on Sesshoumaru & Miroku. Set #2, Theme #57, Repetition. 100 words, originally posted on March 27, 2021.
