Chapter Thirty-Six: The Titan's Curse Reveal

Timeline: The Titan's Curse

Percy awoke in the middle of a forest cover in snow. He heard a groan and look to his left to see Annabeth waking up.

A soft sneeze was heard from his right and he saw Piper shivering in the snow.

"How did we get here?" Piper asked as she rubbed her arms to cause friction. All three demigods were freezing in the snow as they were only wearing their swimsuits.

Percy did his best to explain the situation as the two girls huddle close to him for warmth. As soon as he finished, Annabeth look at him with interest.

"Okay, so we in the past. The question is where are we?" Annabeth asked.

"I believed the correct question is when are we?" Percy countered.

Before Annabeth could hit him, Piper interrupted. "It doesn't matter where or when. We need to find some clothes before we freeze to death."

Both demigods agreed as they ran to seek shelter. Their feet were freezing from the snow. Before they became popsicles, Percy notice a castle as the end of the wood. The castle was black with stone towers and big wooden doors. As soon as he saw the cliff, he knew where he was.

"This is Westover Hall Academy." Percy said as they stared at the dark castle.

"At least we are someplace familiar." Annabeth stated. "Let go in to see if we can find some clothes."

It was easy to get in as everyone was at the gymnasium. They wander the hall as they search for something to wear. The demigods managed to find a school store that sold jeans and Westover Hall shirts. Also, they found some military jackets that provide them with warmth.

Piper sat on the floor as the memory of her house burning was still in her mind. Percy wanted to comfort her but Annabeth put a hand on his shoulder.

"Let give her a moment. I can't imagine watching my house burn down and my father turn to ash." Percy knew she was imagining her own house and father engulf in flame.

Annabeth turned so Percy couldn't see the tears in her eyes. "I will stay with her. I want you to check this place out. If my hunch is correct, I think I know what timeline we are in."

As Annabeth put a comforting hand on Piper's shoulder, Percy walked the hall to see if he could find any sign that a Titan was here.

Percy looked out the window and noticed a flash of light from the horizon. He saw a golden school bus taking off from the snow and flew off in the sky.

"Was that Apollo's sun chariot?" Percy asked himself. He was just about to alert Annabeth when Percy noticed a young girl, maybe twelve or thirteen, running through the forest. He saw her auburn hair and silver hunting outfit and knew that it was Artemis.

He was about to call out to her when he noticed the figure of a giant man approaching her from behind. The man carries a sword the size of a surfboard.

Percy knew that it was a Titan. He ran through the hall until he left the school. He ran through the forest as he search for any sign of Artemis. He turned as he heard the sound of metals clashing against each other.

He ran until he approach a clearing where he saw Artemis in battle with a Titan with a polar bear shaped helmet. He remembered the Titan from Tartarus. It was Koios, Titan of the North.

"You fight well granddaughter, but you stand no chance against a Titan." Koios snarled had he slash his massive sword down.

Artemis dodged the attack and used her twin hunting knifes to slash at the Titan. "We see grandfather."

Percy remembered that Koios was the father of Leto, Artemis' mother. It seem like Artemis could handle herself but Koios had a trick up his sleeve.

Just as Artemis took a step back, Koios used his power to freeze the ground underneath her. She slipped on the ice and fell on her back.

"Nice try granddaughter, but I am the Titan of Farsight, Intellect, and Knowledge. I knew how to overcome you not with strength, but with tactics. Remember that it was Koios who defeat you."

Before the Titan could bring his sword down, Percy intercept with Riptide. He was lucky that the pen appear in his new pant pocket.

"What! Percy Jackson. I don't know what you doing here, but if you thing you can beat me, you are sadly mistaken." Koios growled at Percy as he swung his sword.

Percy fought many opponents before, but Koios was tough. The cold air coming off Koios' sword was seeping into his clothes causing his strike to slow down.

Eventually the two reach the end of the cliff. Percy tries to bring his sword up but he was too slow. Koios knock Riptide off Percy's grip and into the sea.

Koios pointed his sword at Percy's neck. "Nice try son of Poseidon. Don't mistake me for Atlas, Hyperion, or Kronos."

Just before the Titans thrust his sword in Percy's windpipe, a couple of arrows hit him in his back. He turned to notice Artemis holding her bow.

"Turn your blade away from that boy Koios!" Artemis claimed as she nock another arrow.

Koios turn his back on Percy. "Fine. I kill you first little girl."

It what at this moment that Percy came up with an used his power over water to summon a wave that wash over Koios. He watch Koios' sword freeze the water around him, trapping him in ice.

Percy capped Riptide, turning it back into a pen. He was about to thank Artemis for the assist when he noticed an arrow point at his face.

"Okay I want to know two things: Who the hell are you and why do you look familiar to the son of Poseidon I just met?" Artemis asked staring him down and waiting for an answer, but Percy was having trouble speaking since there was an arrow pointing at him.

Seeing that he couldn't speak, Artemis lowers her bow but kept the arrow nock just in case. Her time with men show what pig they are.

"I've lowered my arrow, now talk." She demanded. Percy simply stared at her with a flat expression. He was a little peeved that she was threatening him after saving her life.

"I just saved your life, the least you can do is stop trying to kill me for five minutes." Percy said but regret it when her silvery yellow eyes grew colder.

"I didn't need your help boy. I could have handled the situation on my own." Artemis said pointing a finger at him.

"I know. I seen you fight before and every time I do, I always admire it." Percy said honestly not knowing he was revealing that he met her before.

However, the thought went over Artemis' head as she blushed over the comment. No man had every compliment her fighting skills before. Ares always made fun of her tiny arms and show off "his guns". Even Apollo treated her like a little girl and offered to help her with her archery.

After what felt like an eternity but in actuality was only a couple of seconds, one of them finally decided to speak.

"Are you going to answer me already?" Artemis said as she put her arrow away.

Artemis huffed in a cute way. "I am a goddess you fool. I have seen everything in this world. Whatever you had to say won't surprise me."

Percy supposed she was correct. Hopefully, this won't cause a rip in time. "Okay, you remember that boy you met earlier. I'm him, but from the future."

Percy took a moment to explain his story. He finished by telling her about how he travel to the past to stop the Titans. Artemis was simply stupefied and unable to say a word. Percy half expected her to laugh, but she had to give him the benefit of the doubt. She knew fully well there were plenty of unexplained supernatural phenomenon in the world. "Seaweed Brain," Annabeth said softy like she always did when she explain something to him. "We should at least try. I know that you were trouble from not saving Bianca, Zoe, and Silena. This is our chance to make the future better."

Percy thought about it for a moment. If was true that he was still burden from their death. If they had a chance to save them, he was willing to give it a shot.

"Okay. Let try to change the future." Percy said grinning.

So both Percy and Annabeth will try to save some life that was lost during the Second Titans War. To make the story fit with The Titans Curse timeline; our hero will travel a couple days in the past.
