As the next couple of weeks went by, Team Arrow faced the Ghosts a lot. They were busy with the Ghosts by they were waiting for Darhk to finally show his face so that they could take him down. It seemed that he didn't want anything to do with the vigilantes, so he just stayed hidden. Oliver knew that if the team kept getting in Darhk's way of completing his mission, he would have to show up sooner of later. Oliver also knew that he would have to keep someone watching Laurel at all times because the more of a lead she was showing in the polls, the more chance there was for Darhk to attack her so that his wife would win the race for mayor.
Oliver decided to hire a bodyguard for Laurel. He went through all of the companies that were for bodyguards and found the perfect guy. He was former military and he had done a good job with keeping the people he has watched safe, so he seemed like the best fit. Oliver and Laurel met with this man to see what they thought of him in person.
"Good morning Mr. Diggle. I am Oliver and this is my wife Laurel. We will be looking at you to guard Laurel while she is running for mayor and maybe even after that depending on if she wins the race or not." Oliver said.
"It is nice to meet both of you. I am used to guarding spoiled kids, so I think this job will be the best I have had in a while because I have heard that you are down to earth and don't really care about the money Mrs. Queen." Diggle said.
"No, you are right, the money doesn't matter much to me. It just happened to come with the man that I fell in love with." Laurel said.
"So, what do I need to know about what is going on around here?" Diggle asked.
"Not much. We just thought that the closer we got to the election it might be good to have a bodyguard because you know there are always people out there that don't like a certain candidate and might do whatever it takes to see that person not win." Laurel said and Diggle nodded because he knew that was probably possible.
"Have you had any threats against your life in any letters or anything like that?" Diggle asked.
"No, I haven't as of yet. This is basically just a precaution just to be safe." Laurel said.
"I understand, and I will be happy to help you with this. So, you just need me or would you like a couple more guys?" Diggle asked.
"I think just you will be fine for now. If we see that we need more then we will do that when we see that we need to." Oliver said.
"Ok, that sounds good to me. So, when do you need me to start? I am available to start tomorrow morning." Diggle said.
"Good, then I will need you to pick Laurel up at 8:30 so that she can be here for work at 9:00." Oliver said.
"I can do that. I will see you in the morning at 8:30 Mrs. Queen." Diggle said as he got up and left the office.
"I think that he will do a good job with keeping you safe, and it also doesn't help that one of us from Team Arrow will be following you at all times as well." Oliver said.
"You don't think that this is a bit overkill. I mean, I know Darhk is dangerous, but do you really think he will come after me like this?" Laurel asked.
"He seems to do whatever it takes to get what he wants. I am sure that he will try to talk to you first and try to get you to either drop out of the race or either support some policy that will further his agenda in the city." Oliver said.
"And you know that I won't do that, so that is why all of this extra precautions." Laurel said.
"That's right. I am not taking the chance of losing either you or the babies because some man can't stand to lose." Oliver said.
"Ok, so who is tailing me today?" Laurel asked.
"That would be me. I told Walter that we were interviewing a bodyguard today and he told me to take the day off so that I could make sure that you were getting the best bodyguard that can be offered." Oliver said.
"Well, that is nice of him. I will have to thank him sometime. Maybe we can invite him over for dinner sometime." Laurel said.
"I think that is a good idea. So, how does it feel to be only a couple of months from the election?" Oliver asked.
"It feels good. I will be ready for this to be over either way it goes. I just want to get back to somewhat of a routine. Right now, everything is just so hectic." Laurel said.
"Well, let me know what I can help you with today. I am here for the day anyways." Oliver said.
"Well, in that case, I am feeling like we should have a group dinner with the team tonight down in the bunker before y'all go out on patrol." Laurel said.
"I can set that up. Anything in particular that you want?" Oliver asked.
"No, not really. Just ask the others what they want and then I will decide what I want as well." Laurel said.
"Will do. I will call them now. Don't go anywhere without me." Oliver said.
Oliver went to call all of the members of Team Arrow and tell them what was going on. When he was done with the calls he came into Laurel's office and said, "Well, it looks like everyone wants pizza."
"Well, you know what I want. Go on and order that then we can do down to the bunker and just relax for a while before y'all go out on patrol." Laurel said.
The two of them waited for thirty minutes for the pizza to arrive, then they got in the secret elevator and went to the bunker so that they could hang out with their friends and family and have fun for a while.
