Chapter 38….

Back in Milltown Parker, who had just gotten home, was sitting up in his room when J.J. walked in and closed the door behind him;" What's going on between mom and dad?"

"What do you mean?" asked Parker surprised about his brother's question as he looked up;" Why would you think that there is something going on between them?"

"When you called me a couple of days ago you said that mom wasn't doing so well and that you were worried about her. So I took the first plane I could get on to be here for mom and also because I was ready to come home instead of being so far away in that boarding school." answered his brother;" When I got back this morning mom and dad came down the stairs together, Parker."

"So?" said he irritated;" That doesn't mean a thing."

"Yes, it does and I don't believe dad's story about having to fix something upstairs for mom." started J.J. slowly;" They haven't even told me about dad leaving Janet and getting a divorce yet, which you told me about on the phone."

"They haven't told any of us about that. I wouldn't have known if liberty hadn't told me what she had overheard her mother say to her aunt Terri, J.J." replied his brother;" I think that dad first wants to fix that before they tell us about him leaving Janet and coming back to mom again, but I have warned him to make sure that if he does come back that he intends to stay. I don't think that mom can survive another break-up. She nearly didn't survive what happened last year."

"You told him that?" asked he stunned;" And what did he say?"

"That they were going to be together again forever and that he had intentions to let it fall apart this time around." answered Parker;" Please don't say anything about this to Sage. She doesn't know about any of this yet."

"I won't." said J.J. softly;" I would love for mom and dad to get back together again, but I hope if they do that they will stay together this time around. And I think that you're right about mom not being to survive something bad like that again."

As the boys were talking about what was going on between their parents Carly was downstairs talking to her cousin while Rosanna had gone out for a while;" So, have you figured out what Holden's plans for valentine's day are yet?"

"No, he won't even give me a hint or something." answered Molly;" What are you and Jack going to do for valentine's day?"

"Nothing." replied her cousin;" He's still married, Molly. It's not like we can just go out in public and act like…."

"Like you are together?" said she and it broke her heart to see the sad look in Carly's eyes. She moved closer towards her cousin on the couch and put her arms around her cousin to comfort her;" It won't be like this forever, cuz. You and Jack belong together."

"Do we? Do we really?" sighed Carly;" I love jack with all my heart and I know that he truly loves me, but can we really make it work this time around?"

"Are you still doubting that?" asked her cousin surprised;" I thought that things were getting a lot better between you and jack after he told Janet about wanting a divorce? I thought that you were happy and getting back on track with Jack."

"Things are going a lot better now that Janet knows and Jack has asked for a divorce. But I guess I'm just scared that there will be something to mess it all up again." answered she softly;" We have tried to make this work so many times before. What if I mess up again?"

"You can't think like that, cuz." said Molly;" You have to believe that you guys can make this work and if that stupid woman doesn't sign those damn papers soon I will force her to sign them."

"Thanks, Moll." replied her cousin with a faint smile as she gave Molly a hug;" I love you."

"Love you too, cuz." smiled she;" All I want is for you to be happy."
